Recent tour reviews

Good show with a good retrospective of their 20 years. They found a good way of integrating all of their multiple styles into a good 2.15 hours starting with a bunch of their favorite followed by an acoustic set and finishing with the complete Discovering the Waterfront album in order. I have seen them about 7 times already but I like that for this one they brought an additional member to cover all the violins, cello, keyboard parts to reproduce as close possible the original songs as they were originally recorded.

This show was fantastic, as always! The crowd was great, but the showmanship of Silverstein was on full display. It's been awhile since the last time I thoroughly enjoyed a concert like I did this one. Tonight, Alive was also wonderful. Jenna McDougall is always an inspiration, and the band did a magnificent job. An A+ show, hands down!

Juno-nominated band Silverstein will be returning to the road later in 2023 celebrating the 10th anniversary of their album 'This is How the Wind Shifts' . The 18-city campaign takes place in November/December invading major markets like Toronto, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles and Detroit. Joining the tour in support will be special guests Stray From The Path and Avoid . The band recently wrapped up their Misery Made Me Tour earlier this year which was joined by Dayseeker , See You Space Cowboy and One Step Closer .

Silverstein's 2013 album 'This is How the Wind Shifts' reached #59 on the Billboard 200 and includes the singles 'Stand Amid the Roar' and 'Massachusetts' . Back in 2022, the Canadian group joined forces with The Amity Affliction for a massive co-headlining tour along with support from Holding Absence and Unity-TX. The prior year, they launched a huge 20th anniversary tour which was joined by Four Year Strong and I the Mighty .

About silverstein.

Silverstein (/ˈsɪl.vər.stiːn/) is a Canadian post-hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario that formed in 2000. Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and read the stories of as children. They have released a total of eight studio albums, three EPs, a compilation album and a live DVD/CD. Their lineup had remained unchanged for eleven years since December 2001, consisting of lead vocalist Shane Told, lead guitarist Neil Boshart, rhythm guitarist Josh Bradford, bassist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler. In September 2012, the band had announced that Neil Boshart had been fired and would be replaced by Paul Marc Rousseau, who also joined Billy Hamilton on backing vocals. The band achieved moderate success with their second studio album, Discovering the Waterfront, which was nominated for a Juno Award and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 charts, with the following two albums charting at similar positions. Silverstein has sold over 1,000,000 albums worldwide. The band left long-time record label, Victory Records, in 2010; and after a period with Hopeless Records are currently signed to Rise Records. They released their 9th studio album, Dead Reflection, in July 2017.

When We Were Young 2024 music festival returns to the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, for two days of emo and pop-punk nostalgia with headlining sets by Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance performing "The Black Parade" in its entirety.

Mesa's Jimmy Eat World will revisit "Bleed American" in its entirety while Tempe rockers the Maine will dust off "Can't Stop Won't Stop." Both acts played the 2022 edition of the festival, which featured My Chemical Romance and a reunited Paramore topping the bill.

Green Day and Blink-182 headlined When We Were Young in 2023 .

When We Were Young is at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, an open-air venue at the north end of the  Las Vegas Strip .

It’s a 26-acre facility with a capacity of 85,000 people, north of  Circus Circus Las Vegas .

The Las Vegas Festival Grounds are a few miles from Harry Reid International Airport.

Walking to When We Were Young?

If you are staying on The Strip, it’s an easy walk to the festival, with city views along the way.

• It's a 15-minute walk from Encore at Wynn Las Vegas.
• A 25-minute walk from the Venetian and the Mirage.
• A 30-minute walk from Caesars Palace.

Public transportation   to When We Were Young

Ride the  Las Vegas Monorail  to the Sahara Las Vegas Station. Then take the Monorail pedestrian bridge across Paradise Avenue and walk through Sahara before crossing Las Vegas Boulevard to enter the festival grounds.

If you’re coming from the other side of the Las Vegas Strip, check out the  Deuce , a 24-hour bus service that picks up every 15 minutes. Taxis and limousines

You can get dropped off by a taxi or limousine in the festival’s transportation lot at 810 Circus Circus Drive at the south end of the festival grounds, just across the street from Circus Circus Hotel & Resort. At the end of the night, there will be a taxi queue there.

Backpacks, purses and bags must meet the following requirements:

• Small clutch purses and fanny packs that are 6 inches by 9 inches or smaller do not need to be clear and can have no more than one pocket.
• Bags larger than 6 by 9 inches must be clear and smaller than 12 by 12 by 6 inches.
• Hydration packs are allowed and do not need to be clear, but must be empty and have no more than two pockets in addition to the one holding the water reservoir.

Larger iridescent, color-tinted and opalescent bags are not allowed; they must be clear.

Get ready, CARATs! After teasing the RIGHT HERE tour in late July, SEVENTEEN announced the U.S. dates for its global trek on Tuesday (Aug. 6) via fan platform Weverse and its social media accounts.

Artifacts From BTS, SEVENTEEN & More HYBE Artists to Be Displayed in Grammy Museum Exhibit

These dates will be the SEVENTEEN’s first in the U.S. since wrapping its BE THE SUN world tour in Newark, N.J., in 2022. In addition to the tour beginning in October, the group is expected to release its 12th mini album that month.

For fans who have CARAT memberships, presale tickets will be available beginning Aug. 13 at 3 p.m. local time. (See the Weverse announcement for presale registration information and times.) General onsale kicks off Aug. 15 at 3 p.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

For CARATs unable to make it to SEVENTEEN’s upcoming concerts, there’s another way to experience the group. Artifacts from SEVENTEEN, as well as BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN and more K-pop groups are on display through Sept. 15 at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The interactive HYBE: We Believe in Music exhibit showcases outfits worn by the groups in their music videos, as well as other artifacts.

Silverstein Kick Off Tour with Spinning Wheel + Live Debuts

Silverstein, the Canadian emo/screamo band, kicked off its fall tour August 25 in Arizona with a new feature on the tour: a spinning wheel.

About 2/3rds of the way into the show, a band member or crew spins a giant wheel containing the title of a dozen of the group's tunes. As game show music plays, the wheel goes round and round and when it lands on a song, that's what gets rocked out. After the song is over, they repeat the process two more times.

On the 25th at the Marquee Theater the spinning wheel tunes were "Already Dead," "Stand Amid the Roar," and "Massachusetts."

Utilizing a giant wheel to add excitement to a setlist is not new. Way back in 1986, Elvis Costello introduced a giant wheel with scores of original and cover tunes.

Throughout the Beverly Theater show in Beverly Hills he had one of his two MCs (John Doe of X and Tom Waits) choose audience members to have a turn at The Spinning Songbook. Once the pointer landed on a song, the fan had their choice of sitting at a bar that was on stage and watch TV or they could dance with a young woman in a Go-Go cage.

In 2011, Costello dusted off the wheel and fashioned an entire tour and album around the gimmick, and named it The Return of the Spinning Songbook.

Let's compare the two wheels, shall we?

On the left we have Costello's giant contraption which is practically the size of the actual Wheel of Fortune. It appears to be about 3x the size of the King of America. For a tour where the spinning songbook was the premise of the evening, it made sense because this way audience members could easily see it.

Silverstein's wheel is less ambitious, but also easier to manage, which is important since they are co-headlining this tour with The Amity Affliction, so time is of the essence. But also it wasn't the centerpiece of the evening, it was more of a fun little aside to the traditional presentation of one hit after another. Their wheel seems to be only a few feet tall, and probably much easier to transport while on tour.

Here are the dozen tunes that have a random chance of being played during the song wheel portion of the gig: "The Artist," and "Sacrifice" from Rescue "Already Dead," "Call It Karma," "The Ides of March," and "Your Sword Versus My Dagger" from Discovering the Waterfront "Broken Stars" from A Shipwreck in the Sand "Massachusetts" and "Stand Amid the Roar" from This Is How the Wind Shifts "Bleeds No More" and "November" from When Broken Is Easily Fixed "Still Dreaming" from Arrivals & Departures

Chicago is having a busy 2024.

Starting in July, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers set off on their co-headlining ‘Heart & Soul Tour’ with Earth Wind and Fire . That run concludes in early September.

Rather than call it quits after the summer trek, the “25 or 6 to 4” band announced they will be hitting the road once again for another 17 concerts this fall.

And, yes, Chicago will be coming to New York and New Jersey.

First up, Robert Lamm and co. swing into Morristown, NJ’s Mayo Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Right after that, the hitmakers drop into Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and Wednesday, Oct. 30 ; those concerts are followed by back-to-back gigs at Atlantic City’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 .

They conclude their NY/NJ run at Utica, NY’s Stanley Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Ironically, Chicago won’t play in Chicago or even Illinois. Go figure.

Chicago new music

More than 50 years deep into their storied career, Chicago is still creating.

In July 2022, the band featuring original members Robert Lamm (keyboard, vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet, flugelhorn, backing vocals), James Pankow (trombone, backing vocals), Walter Parazaider (saxophones, flute, clarinet, backing vocals) and new lead vocalist Neil Donell released their 26th studio album  “Born For This Moment.”

Comprised of 14 songs, the record is a jazzy throwback to the band’s signature, lively sound.

And for our money, “Our New York Time” is a standout track that wouldn’t be out of place on one of the group’s classic ’60s and ’70s albums.

SEVENTEEN announces 2024 plans: 12th mini album, World Tour, Japanese single album, & more

S EVENTEEN unveiled its packed schedule for the second half of 2024 with October comeback, World Tour, Japanese comeback, and more. On Monday, August 5, PLEDIS released an official statement informing fans about the group's upcoming activities.

Previously, on July 24, the group announced its upcoming concert tour during the 8th fan meeting at CARAT LAND in Seoul, creating excitement among fans. The RIGHT HERE World Tour will be their first tour in two years after Be The Sun. The tour is set to begin in October 2024 in the United States, South Korea, and some other cities in Asia.

Ahead of the world tour, the K-pop group will drop its 12th mini album, which will be the first EP release after the 17 IS RIGHT HERE album. The group members will showcase performances of their new songs at upcoming concerts.

"They are now working towards their 12th mini album coming this October," PLEDIS, in an official statement through Weverse, said.

"SEVENTEEN will be meeting CARATs and performing their new songs off their 12th mini album on their new tour series titled SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR."

SEVENTEEN to release a Japanese single album and hold a dome tour in Japan in the second half of 2024

The K-pop boy group is gearing up for its October comeback and will release a Japanese single album in the second half of 2024. Last year in August, the group dropped its first-ever Japanese compilation album, Always Yours , featuring tracks like Sara Sara, Fallin' Flower, Happy Ending, and more.

The album also featured Japanese versions of the group's hit tracks like HOME;RUN, Rock With You, and Snap Shoot, among others. Besides the upcoming Japanese single album, the group will also hold a dome concert tour in Japan.

"They will also be going on a dome tour and releasing a single album in Japan. The members of SEVENTEEN are determined to connect with CARATs from different regions through their music and performances," the agency said.

PLEDIS asked fans to continue to show their support for the group.

"Please send your love and support to SEVENTEEN, returning with a new release and a world tour after two years."

17 is Right Here fan sign event postponed

On July 29, members of SEVENTEEN were ready to depart from South Korea for Beijing, China, due to their 17 is Right Here fan sign event. However, due to a malfunction in the airplane, they could not leave the country.

According to the statement released by the event organizers, Yizhiyu Entertainment, the members were at the airport, and despite the agency's efforts, they could not find an alternative solution for the issue.

"We regret to inform you that due to a sudden malfunction of the plane at the departure airport after the artists arrived at the airport, and after extensive communication and coordination, it was still not possible to temporarily replace the plane."

The agency advised fans to return to their homes or accommodations, given the hot weather in Beijing. They also confirmed that those who traveled to Beijing for the event will be reimbursed for accommodation and traveling.
