Mary Lynn Rajskub

Birthday: Jun 22, 1971
Birthplace: Detroit, Michigan, USA
After receiving her start in performing arts and comedy theater, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub made a name for herself as one of the original members of the sketch comedy series, "Mr. Show" (HBO, 1995-99). Rajskub left the show following its debut season in order to replace friend Janeane Garofalo's character on "The Larry Sanders Show" (HBO, 1992-98), playing the show-within-a-show's eager-to-please and often inappropriate guest booker. Having proven herself a dynamic comedic player on the small screen, she made the transition to features with small roles in "Road Trip" (2000) and "Storytelling" (2001) before landing a more significant supporting role opposite Adam Sandler and Emma Watson in "Punch-Drunk Love" (2002). Though most of her career to that point had a comedic bent, Rajskub made the surprising jump to drama with a high-profile supporting turn as the unconventional CTU analyst Chl O'Brian - one of the few people trusted by Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) - on the hit action series, "24" (Fox, 2001-2010). Though she spent most of her time behind a computer terminal aiding Bauer in whatever manner she could, Rajskub earned a loyal following, including within the real-life Homeland Security department which named a research and development program, "Project CHL ," in homage to her character. Both during and after the successful run of "24," Rajskub was featured in several films including "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006), "Sunshine Cleaning" (2008) and "Julie & Julia" (2009), all of which demonstrated the range and versatility of the talented young actress.

Though she spent most of her time behind a computer terminal aiding Bauer in whatever manner she could, Rajskub earned a loyal following, including within the real-life Homeland Security department which named a research and development program, "Project CHL," in homage to her character. Both during and after the successful run of "24," Rajskub was featured in several films including "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006), "Sunshine Cleaning" (2008) and "Julie & Julia" (2009), all of which demonstrated the range and versatility of the talented young actress.
Born on June 22, 1971 in Trenton, MI, Rajskub was raised by her father, who worked as a pipefitter, and her mother, who was a pharmacist's assistant. An outcast during her childhood, she began acting as a means of masking her feelings, which led to school productions of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory;" playing a street urchin in "A Christmas Carol;" and the lead in "Raggedy Ann" at a local community theater. But when it came time for her to advance her education, Rajskub chose art school instead. She first attended the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit before moving to the Bay Area, where Rajskub was admitted to the San Francisco Art Institute. It was there that she began doing performance art in class and eventually in bars around town. Rajskub first gained notice thanks to performing in a towel while reading from a scroll and firing off a prop banana, which attracted the attention of a local reporter. In 1993, she made the move to Los Angeles for reasons that remained unclear to her at the time, and continued to do her performance art in various coffeehouses and laundromats.
Having secured a manager while still in San Francisco, Rajskub was able to attract the attention of comedians Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, who cast her as a featured player for the first two seasons of "Mr. Show" (HBO, 1995-98). Following a small part as the voice of a female caller in "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" (1996), she took over for that movie's star, Janeane Garofolo, on "The Larry Sanders Show" (HBO, 1992-98), playing the show's self-conscious booker. Also at this time, Rajskub furthered her reputation as an energetic and versatile actress with stage appearances, including the one-woman show "The Littlest Angel," performed at Santa Monica's Powerhouse Theater in 1996. After "Larry Sanders" was finished in 1998, she had a small role in the Andy Kaufman (Jim Carrey) biopic, "Man on the Moon" (1999), and a cameo in Paul Thomas Anderson's "Magnolia" (1999), before landing a recurring role on the Kirstie Alley sitcom, "Veronica's Closet" (NBC, 1997-2000). All throughout, she continued performing in clubs, forming the Girls Guitar Club - a spoof on sensitive female singer-songwriters - with "Mr. Show" actress, Karen Kilgariff.
Back in the feature world, Rajskub played a blind girl in "Road Trip" (2000), a cult member in "Dude, Where's My Car?" (2000) and was a guest of "The Anniversary Party" (2001). She returned to the small screen as a performer and writer on the short-lived variety show produced by Steve Martin, "The Downer Channel" (NBC, 2001), before heading back to film for a small part in the "Fiction" portion of Todd Solondz's "Storytelling" (2002). She had her most prominent film role up to this point in Paul Thomas Anderson's dark romantic comedy, "Punch Drunk Love" (2002), playing the overbearing sister - one of seven - of a lonely smalltime businessman (Adam Sandler). Also that year, Rajskub had a small part opposite Reece Witherspoon in "Sweet Home Alabama" (2002). She made her way back into television with an appearances on "Gilmore Girls" (The WB, 2000-07) and "Good Morning Miami" (NBC, 2002-04), before returning to features, playing a congressional aide brought out of her shell when the effervescent Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) heads to Washington, D.C. in "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde" (2003).
In 2003, Rajskub joined "24" (Fox, 2001-2010) in a recurring role that, over the course of the show's run, earned the actress a strong fan base and rising celebrity. As Chl O'Brien, a senior analyst at the Counter Terrorism Unit who serves as a lifeline for agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), Rajskub exuded a competent, albeit dour persona, despite her off screen charm and quirky exuberance. At first her character had little more to do that spew techno-jargon to Bauer over the phone. But as she gained more of a fan club - thanks to her tense delivery of crucial information - the writers further developed her character, even giving her an office romance.
During "24," Rajskub co-starred in "Mysterious Skin" (2005), a low budget coming-of-age drama in which she played a Kansas woman whose belief in her alien abduction lends a helping hand to unraveling the mystery surrounding a troubled 18-year-old (Brady Corbet). Rajskub then had a supporting role in the heist thriller, "Firewall" (2006), playing a hipster secretary opposite Harrison Ford, a computer security specialist forced to embezzle $100 million from a bank after a crew of mercenaries takes his family hostage. She next co-starred in the indie dramedy "Sunshine Cleaning" (2009) and played the best friend of the titular Julie (Amy Adams) in "Julie & Julia" (2009), while maintaining a small screen presence in episodes of "Flight of the Concords" (HBO, 2007-09), "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (FX, 2005- ) and "Royal Pains" (USA, 2009-16). Meanwhile, her time on "24" came to an end in 2010, when the show finally wrapped up after eight seasons, but she went out with a bang by receiving a Teen Choice Award nod for Choice TV Actress: Action Adventure. Rajskub next appeared in indie comedy-dramas "Safety Not Guaranteed" (2012) and "The Kings of Summer" (2013), followed by supporting roles in "Sex, Death and Bowling" (2015), "Wilson" (2017), and "In Search of Fellini" (2017). Rajskub next appeared in the Tiffany Haddish hit "Night School" (2018).

Who Played the Blind Lady in Road Trip?
By Anna Duncan
If you have watched the 2000 comedy film Road Trip, you might remember a memorable scene where the character E.L. accidentally feeds a blind lady his pet snake. The scene is hilarious and the actress who played the blind lady did an excellent job of making it even funnier. But who played her?
After some research, it was discovered that the actress’s name is Marla Sucharetza. She is an American actress who has appeared in numerous films and TV shows throughout her career.
Marla Sucharetza’s Acting Career
Marla Sucharetza has been in the acting industry for over three decades. She started her acting career in 1987 with a small role in the film Street Trash. Since then, she has appeared in several movies such as Rounders, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, and The Nanny Diaries.
However, Marla is mostly known for her work on TV shows. She has appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Third Watch, and The Sopranos. Her most recent work was in an episode of Bull in 2018.
The Blind Lady Scene
The famous blind lady scene from Road Trip was one of Marla Sucharetza’s most memorable roles. In the scene, E. accidentally feeds his pet snake to a blind woman, thinking that he is feeding her a sandwich.
Marla played the role perfectly by being both funny and sympathetic at the same time. Her facial expressions were spot-on and she delivered her lines flawlessly.

The Cast of Road Trip Then and Now
Breckin Meyer
After standing out as Travis Birkenstock in Clueless and scoring supporting roles in The Craft , Go and The Insider , Meyer moved into the starring position in Road Trip as Josh—a cheater (it all works out in the end) but the relatively nice, normal one of the bunch. Next up was the ensemble comedy Rat Race and he's the voice of Jon in the Garfield movies with Bill Murray as the lazy, lasagna-loving cat. A regular in movies and TV, Meyer also starred in the legal dramedy Franklin & Bash with Mark-Paul Gosselaar and more recently appeared in Designated Survivor and The Fix .
He has two daughters with ex-wife Deborah Kaplan (who directed him in 2001's Josie and the Pussycats ) and since 2017 he's been in a relationship with The Bold and the Beautiful actress Linsey Gofrey after they met on a dating app for people in the industry.
"I always tell him all the time, I'm like, 'I had the biggest crush on you when I was growing up. I loved Travis from Clueless,'" Godfrey told Soap Opera Digest in December 2018. "And I loved him in Road Trip and all that kind of stuff. He thinks that's really funny and I think it's really funny. He was adorable and we both have big crushes on each other. He's the best!"
Seann William Scott
He had just played Stiffler in American Pie and would have three more turns as the unhinged but well-meaning party animal down the road, but first—Josh's best friend, the mildly unhinged but well-meaning party animal E.L., in Road Trip .
Scott dove into his subsequent type-casting with relish, starring in the bromance classic Dude, Where's My Car? with Ashton Kutcher and Final Destination (both of which also came out in 2000), The Dukes of Hazzard , Mr. Woodcock and Role Models . He also turned up in Old School and Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back and provided the voice of Crash in four Ice Age films. He has also starred in a number of small films, including the ensemble sci-fi thriller-comedy Southland Tales (audiences didn't really get it either) and the Courteney Cox-directed Just Before I Go .
He actually hasn't done much TV (his movies have quietly grossed almost $5 billion collectively in the meantime), but in 2018 was cast in Fox's Lethal Weapon to replace the fired Clayne Crawford as the resident live wire, but the buddy-cop dramedy was canceled at the end of its third season.
Having maintained an impressively private personal life for two decades, Williams married interior designer Olivia Korenberg in September 2019.
Beth turned out to be the girl for Josh in the end, never mind the shady cinematic start to their relationship.
After Road Trip , which was preceded by modeling, starring in Varsity Blues and playing Ruby on Felicity , Smart reunited with Breckin Meyer in Rat Race and co-starred in The Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher . She has appeared in a slew of films, including Win a Date With Tad Hamilton , Starsky & Hutch , The Best Man , Just Friends (as the object of Ryan Reynolds ' long-suffering affection), The Town and the holiday ABC Family classic 12 Dates of Christmas . Later TV work has included Maron , Law & Order: SVU , MacGyver and the new DC Universe web series Stargirl with Luke Wilson , which just premiered May 18, 2020.
Smart married HGTV star Carter Oosterhouse in 2011 and they welcomed daughter Flora via surrogate in 2016.
Paolo Costanzo
Josh's smart-ass pal Rubin is the reason this road trip was possible, as he's the one who sent the wrong tape (Josh had also been recording innocent video messages in the era before FaceTime and Snapchat) to Josh's girlfriend, Tiffany.
Costanzo went on to co-star in 40 Days and 40 Nights with Josh Hartnett and then landed the technically plum role of Joey 's nephew Michael Tribbiani in the ultimately short-lived Friends spin-off. A steadier gig came as a star of the USA dramedy Royal Pains for eight seasons, after which he had a pivotal role in the HBO series The Night Of and joined the cast of Designated Survivor in season two.
Green's bum isn't on the road trip, but his character—Barry Manilow—serves as narrator and school bard. 2000 was an eventful year for the host of The Tom Green Show— he chronicled his successful treatment for testicular cancer on his popular MTV show, and then appeared as The Chad in Charlie's Angels alongside then-girlfriend Drew Barrymore , whom he was married to for eight months in 2001 before filing for divorce that December.
After Road Trip , his biggest movie was 2001's Freddy Got Fingered , but he has written and produced and appeared in all sorts of productions over the years (including Tom Green's House Tonight , an ahead-of-his-time talk show he filmed in his living room, and Tom Green Live ), as well as done cameos and a lot of voice work.
The meek and scrawny Kyle was a sight gag in and of himself, but though he had some lows (eating adulterated French toast being the most memorable), he also ended up with Rhonda's leopard-print underpants as a souvenir from the best night of his life to date.
After Road Trip , his movie debut, Qualls starred in his own bro comedy, 2002's The New Guy , but is mainly known for supporting appearances in the likes of Hustle & Flow and TV shows including Lost , Criminal Minds , My Name Is Earl , The Big Bang Theory , Breaking Bad , Supernatural , Fargo and The Man in the High Castle , on which he was a regular for three seasons.
He also reprised the role of Kylie in 2009's direct-to-DVD sequel Road Trip: Beer Pong .
After sharing with an audience that he was gay during one of his pal Jim Jeffries ' stand-up shows (in 2013 Qualls starred in Legit , a sitcom co-created by Jeffries), Qualls took to Twitter in January 2020 to write , "It is 11:20pm. I just came out on stage at a @jimjefferies show in San Diego. Yep, I'm gay. Been gay this whole time. Tired of worrying about what people would think of me. Tired of worrying about what it would do to my career."
Mia Amber Davis
None of the aftermath of Rhonda's memorable sex scene, when Kyle's friends tease him, aged well, but Davis made a splash as the confident, sexy-as-hell girl Kyle loses his virginity to on the road. The model and actress went on to a career as a motivational speaker and style consultant before she died at 36 in 2011 from a pulmonary embolism following knee surgery. She was married to comedian Mike Yard from 2008 until her death.
Rachel Blanchard
Perfectly nice Tiffany remains none the wiser about Josh's unfaithful ways after the tape turns out not to be what Josh thought it was, and they amicably split up.
Blanchard, the former child star ( The Kids of Degrassi Street , Are You Afraid of the Dark? ) who played Cher when Clueless was briefly a sitcom, has since worked alongside a slew of talented actors, but her most recognizable film since Road Trip is the instant-cult-classic Snakes on a Plane . Up next, however, she's in Adrian Lyne 's thriller Deep Water , the film that brought co-stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas together off-camera, due out in November 2020.
Her TV work includes 7th Heaven , Peep Show , Psych , Fargo and Audience Network's You Me Her , which has been renewed for a fifth and final season.
In 2014, Blanchard told ABC News that anything online saying she had a husband named Adrian Brown and two kids was a lie. "That's a rumor," she said. "I think I have an Internet stalker, who started that and then won't take it down. I keep having it taken down and he keeps putting it back up. But I don't have a husband, I don't have two kids."
She has since married composer Jeremy Turner and they have a daughter, Maxine.
Anthony Rapp
The star of stage and screen who originated the role of Mark in Rent and Lucas in If/Then on Broadway can play a chilling villain, see anti-Semite McGoo in School Ties and Josh, obsessive TA turned cult leader, in Road Trip . He's appeared in numerous indie films over the years, as well as bigger fare such as A Beautiful Mind and the 2005 movie adaptation of Rent , and his more recent TV work includes Psych , The Knick , The Good Fight and 13 Reasons Why . He currently stars on CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery as Lt. Commander Paul Stamets.
In 2017, Rapp changed the course of a lot of things when he said in an interview that Kevin Spacey had made a sexual advance toward him when he was 14 and Spacey was 26, which triggered a spiral of accusations that resulted in Spacey being fired from House of Cards . (Spacey said he didn't remember doing any such thing, but if he did so while drunk, he was deeply sorry.)
"I felt bad for the hundreds of people who were working on the show," Rapp said a year later, reflecting on how swiftly Spacey's career collapsed after he came forward. The actor told BuzzFeed he was "relieved" when House of Cards returned for another season without Frank Underwood.
In November 2019, Rapp announced that he was engaged to his partner, Ken Ithiphol .
Ethan Suplee
The before-and-after of the prominent character actor never gets old. Suplee had already excelled at comedy (the only one who can't see the optical illusion in Mallrats ; a high school bully's strongman in Boy Meets World ) and drama (as Edward Norton 's racist lump of a friend in American History X ) by the time he had a small role in Road Trip as Ed. He was played a high school football player in Remember the Titans in 2000 and went on to co-star in My Name Is Earl from 2005 to 2009. His film resume includes The Butterfly Effect , Cold Mountain , Unstoppable , The Wolf of Wall Street , Deepwater Horizon and the Norton-directed Motherless Brooklyn , and more recent TV work includes Hulu's Chance , the new Twin Peaks , and Netflix's The Ranch and The Santa Clarita Diet .
He has four children with Brandy Lewis , his wife since 2006, and in January 2020—after almost a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and gaining and losing hundreds of pounds—he proudly revealed off his new muscled physique
The News Radio star and all-around quirky fellow had a brief cameo as an obviously strange motel clerk.
Amid several arrests over the years, some of them involving indecent exposure and groping other men, Dick has been open about struggling with substance abuse that has had him in and out of rehab. But despite the toxic behavior, he has stayed busy, having his own sketch show, The Andy Dick Show , on MTV for a couple years; becoming a regular on the dais at celebrity roasts; releasing a few comedy albums; and doing a lot of cameos as an oddball in the likes of Community , Maron , Workaholics and Netflix's Sense8 .
Dick has a son from his first marriage, to Ivone Kowalczyk, and a son and daughter with partner Lena Sved—who obtained a restraining order against Dick in 2018, claiming he had gotten belligerent in front of their son, who in turn locked his drunken father out of the house.
Horatio Sanz
As "French Toast Guy," an otherwise unnamed diner cook, he amiably agreed to give Kyle a new plate of French toast without powdered sugar, and proceeded to remove the sugar in every obscene way imaginable and serve it back to him.
Sanz had joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1998 and stayed until 2006, while also building a resume of small but standout comedic roles in the likes of Boat Trip, School for Scoundrels, Lucky You, Step Brothers, Year One and Bachelorette. He's also the voice of Duncan in Wreck-It-Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet . His acting on TV has included 30 Rock , House of Lies , Parks and Recreation , Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , Modern Family , Scorpion , GLOW and The Mandalorian .
In 2008 he revealed that he'd lost about 100 pounds, and later said on The Tonight Show that he'd been working out more and cut out alcohol.
Sanz is quiet about his persona life, but he married his wife Jenn in 2015.
Mary Lynn Rajskub
A prolific improv comedian and star of Mr. Show and The Larry Sanders Show long before she became the unflappable IT wiz Chloe O'Brian on 24 , Rajskub had a quick turn in Road Trip as school bus dispatcher Blind Brenda whose intuition (and middle finger) works just fine.
Todd Phillips
Road Trip was just an early stop on the journey for Phillips, who got his start making documentaries ( Frat House put him on the map) and then went on to direct and/or write Old School , Starsky & Hutch , School for Scoundrels , The Hangover (as well as Part II and Part III ), Due Date , War Dogs and Joker . He also produced A Star Is Born with longtime buddy Bradley Cooper, who in turn was a co-producer on Joker , which was nominated for 11 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor (as well as every other major award), and Hildur Guðnadóttir won for Best Original Score.
"I'm writing another comedy," Phillips told the BBC in 2000. "But don't worry, it's not a teen movie at all." Just adults who start a fraternity, that's all, and it's spectacular.

Born in the white-hot fury of the late-'90s, early-2000s teen-sex-comedy boom, Road Trip is the story of young Josh Parker and the consequences of one night's craziness.
Josh's long-term, long-distance girlfriend Tiffany has got silent on him, and so, believing she is dumping him, he accepts the advances of the beautiful Beth Wagner. The next morning, after Beth has left, Josh's friends E.L., Rubin Carver and Barry Manilow (not the Barry Manilow , mind you) come to investigate. Josh reveals that Beth videotaped their amorous adventures, evidence that his friends demand to see. Of course, the tape sitting on the TV contains a romantic message Josh recorded for Tiffany - the "sex with Beth tape" is in an envelope winging its way to Austin, Texas. Right as this realization sinks in, the phone rings - it's Tiffany, apologizing for not answering Josh's calls, as her beloved grandfather just died suddenly. Josh realizes there's only one option: get to Austin before the envelope and prevent Tiffany from ever seeing it.
Thus begins the wacky adventures of Josh, E.L., Rubin and Kyle - the one who actually owns the car - as they travel 1800 miles to try and save Josh's relationship. A quest that will take them through jumping broken bridges in a Ford Taurus, pretending to be members of a national black fraternity, stealing a school bus from a blind chick and discovering why you shouldn't send food back at greasy-spoon diners.
Released in 2000, Road Trip is one of Todd Phillips 's earliest films.
Provides examples of:
- All for Nothing : Played with. It turns out that the trip wasn't strictly necessary after all, because Barry unwittingly replaced the offending part of the tape with a recording of his butt . However, it turns out that Tiffany was going to dump Josh anyway, due to the two having grown apart during their time at college, and Josh's presence at least allows the two to end things amicably and in person, instead of her doing it either over the phone or via a "Dear John" Letter . More importantly, all the people involved undergo Character Development as a result of the trip.
- All Men Are Perverts : Mentioned in the Shower Scene by a topless woman. Barry is even called out for narrating this particular scene with excessive nudity.
- Ass Shove : Happens to E.L. at the sperm bank when he asks the nurse for "assistance". It does provide him with the best orgasm he's ever had. This is even given a Call-Back at the end of the movie when he's bent over again, this time asking for three fingers.
- Awesomeness by Analysis : Rubin's sophisticated calculations for the bridge jump. And it worked out ... kinda. He only predicted that they would make it across, he didn't say anything about the axles breaking or the vehicle exploding after succeeding in the jump.
- Bachelor Auction : One of the extremely rare bachelorette versions, although the auctioneer is careful to point out that purchasing the woman in question in no way confers any suggestion that sex will result.
- Big Beautiful Woman : Rhonda, as played by the late Mia Amber Davis.
- Blatant Lies : "1600s? It says 1951." - "That's the address. OK?"
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick : Rubin and E.L. list off reasons in an attempt to justify Josh's cheating on Tiffany . And then comes Kyle's turn ...
- Brick Joke : When E.L. tells Josh that it's not cheating if you're in different area codes. Tiffany tells Josh that she was with one other guy, other than him, when he was away at camp and she was 14 "and in different area codes."
- Butt-Monkey : Poor Kyle.
- Catapult Nightmare : Josh has two of them. Early on, after waking from his bad dream where he envisions his girl friend making out with another dude in the open. Another one when staying at the Manilows'. He has a third one in a deleted extension of that scene.
- Cloud Cuckoolander : Barry. Witness both The Feeding and the Animal Song. Plus, of course, the Running Gag of "Austin... Massachusetts?"
- Cool Old Guy : Grandpa Manilow.
- Don't Explain the Joke : Kyle's joke about dogs and testicles goes awry because of him repeating the punch line.
- Don't Try This at Home : Even if the Taurus hadn't mysteriously exploded, the impact would almost certainly have destroyed the chassis and suspension.
- Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male : The random guy in Boston who had been mistakenly accused of cheating on his girlfriend is shown to get a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown by said girlfriend with never-the-less a baseball bat . How does the crowd who witnesses the situation reacts? They simply just gather around and watched as if the guy deserves it, all because he supposedly cheated .
- This was taken to the point of Intelligence Equals Isolation , as Rubin also mentions how, until he started smoking pot to mellow himself out, he was the only kid to have panic attacks as a result of the Gulf War, being prescribed an adult dosage of Xanax.
- Every Car Is a Pinto : Jumping a broken bridge with a Ford Taurus, the group is dismayed when the wheels fall off. They start to hike to find help - when the car explodes.
- Face Cam : Upon Kyle during the fraternity house party.
- Fainting : Kyle can't take the KKK joke.
- And, of course, Amy Smart topless.
- Flipping the Bird : The blind girl.
- Only Sane Man : Josh
- The Smart Guy : Rubin
- The Pervert: E.L.
- Butt-Monkey : Kyle
- Josh is sanguine
- E.L. is choleric
- Kyle is melancholic
- Rubin is phlegmatic
- Framing Device : Barry tells the story in flashbacks.
- Geeky Analogy : Rubin is able to teach Josh enough philosophy to beat a doctorate test by linking the information to something Josh likes (and will recall easily): wrestling. He even begins his ( two-day ) explanation by giving the Badass Boast of "I could teach a chimpanzee philosophy in two days; I just need something for him to understand." " Socrates is like the Vince McMahon of philosophy. He started it all."
- Gilligan Cut : "Are there any guys out there who are just normal??!" - cut to Barry and his snake.
- The Grunting Orgasm : E.L. during a... special medical inspection.
- Home Porn Movie : The cause of all trouble.
- Irrevocable Message : Not exactly a message, but the main character thinks he accidentally sent a sex tape of him cheating on his girlfriend. The main plot is the gang traveling to get the tape back.
- Knight Templar Parent : Kyle's dad.
- The Last Straw : Scott's character demonstrates he can spit across a ten-foot wide broken bridge. He did, but causing the other end of the bridge to collapse from his spit.
- Limited Wardrobe : The guys all end up wearing the same clothes for several days due to their luggage being destroyed in the explosion . It's noticeable with Josh, whose sweatshirt gets dirtier and sweatier as the film progresses.
- Male Gaze : During the Shower Scene , a woman is explaining how All Men Are Perverts . As she continues the explanation the camera zooms in on her breasts, until they're all we can see. When another girl picks up the thread of her complaints, the camera pans over to her - still with an extremely tight focus on her breasts.
- Musicalis Interruptus : The dramatic music during the Orbital Kiss at the end stops when Barry and the red-haired lady come to their senses.
- Nerd Glasses : The motel clerk.
- Nipple and Dimed : Boobs!
- Long-Distance Relationship : Josh and Tiffany have one.
- Orbital Kiss : In the film's finale. Played for laughs with the transition from Josh/Beth to Berry/red-haired Lady.
- Papa Wolf : Kyle's insanely strict father takes this one a bit too far.
- Product Placement : Rubin appears on the cover of High Times magazine.
- The Quest : For a sex tape.
- Raging Stiffie : Grandpa Manilow and the goddamn Viagra.
- Revenge Is a Dish Best Served : The asshole cook that gets upset about Kyle asking him to take powered sugar off his toast (a very mild request said very meekly by the nicest guy of the protagonists in a complete inversion of Unsatisfiable Customer ) retaliates by licking the sugar off and then shitting on the toast before handing it back. What is more disgusting is the fact that Kyle never figures this out and actually likes the taste.
- Road Trip Plot : Unsurprisingly.
- Secret Handshake : How Rubin get them into the fraternity house.
- Sex as Rite-of-Passage : Kyle experiences this after scoring with Rhonda. It allows him to stand up to his father.
- Shower Scene : Described by one of the characters and shown to the viewer - put on pause when an actual woman questioned it, the question is Hand Waved and we return to naked goodness.
- Short Cuts Make Long Delays : Wherein the shortcut leads over a Broken Bridge . "Of course it's difficult, it's a short-cut. If it was easy it would just be the way ."
- Stalker with a Crush : Jacob is a very creepy example of this when it comes to Beth.
- Talking Animal : Grandpa Manilow's dog.
- Tempting Fate : After the bridge jump, Rubin tells Josh that the cars tires just need fixing and they will only lose half a day on the trip. The car promptly explodes.
- Tiny Guy, Huge Girl : Kyle and Rhonda.
- Unfortunate Item Swap : With the video tapes. There would have been no plot without it.
- Unrated Edition : Minor changes, mostly the extension of the Shower Scene .
- Unreliable Narrator : The main story is told through the eyes of Barry, a campus tour guide who's not playing with a full deck . Barry wasn't even present on the titular road trip. As such, the story has some highly improbable elements.
- Vomit Discretion Shot : Josh's girlfriend is about to vomit during his nightmare vision, but then suddenly wakes up.
- Wacky Fratboy Hijinx : The boys of Xi Chi plant a Klan hood on Kyle, accusing him of bigotry. When Kyle faints in terror, the boys reveal it to be a prank and a loud party ensues.
- Watch the Paint Job : The precious Ford Taurus.
- Wild Teen Party : A relatively mild example near the beginning, with a good-natured "girl auction" taking place in the front room and an least one group upstairs experimenting with lesbianism and group sex.
- You Have Waited Long Enough : E.L. does this on Josh, directing him to Beth.

gailsnest-19934 11 November 2021. This movie has originality and depth. The first plus is that the two lead actors do a good job and are believable. It's an intelligent well-thought-out story, not slapstick comedy. Jack's parents are a hoot.
