Journey to celebrate 50th anniversary with 30 shows in 2024: See where they're headed

Journey is continuing the celebration of its five-decade career with a run of 2024 shows.

The 50 th Anniversary Freedom Tour kicks off Feb. 9 in Biloxi, Mississippi and will play 30 dates in North America through April 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Sept. 29 via ticketmaster.com.

Toto, which supported Journey on their tour earlier this year to celebrate their "Freedom" album, will again join Journey founder, guitarist Neal Scho n, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, lead singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen as show openers.

Journey's tour finds the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers tearing through a set list of anthems including "Any Way You Want It," "Faithfully," "Be Good to Yourself" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'."

When "Freedom" arrived in July 2022, Schon told USA Today that the album title was originally tapped for the band's 1986 release, "Raised on Radio," but then-singer Steve Perry didn't like it, "so we sat on it for many years … when we were tossing around album titles said, why not just call the whole thing 'Freedom?' It's for the times right now."

Schon was also sanguine when reflecting on the band’s legacy.

"It’s quite an accomplishment and I’m very proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve gotten through emotional and personnel changes and survived," he said. "It’s pretty mind-boggling but also a lot of hard work."

It’s been 11 years since Journey released their last studio record, and for a while it was looking like they’d never get around to making one. “Nobody was really interested in making new music,” Journey founder and guitarist and Neal Schon tells Rolling Stone via Zoom from his California home. “It’s very difficult to get new material played and to get people familiar with it before you go out and play live. Everybody in the band was like, ‘I don’t want to do it.'”

Progressive jam giants Umphrey's McGee‘s return to Las Vegas for the seventh installment of the massively popular UMBowl production was marked once again by a stand-out tour closing dual evening extravaganza where all stops were pulled out and the power given directly to the fans, for better or for worse.

On June 24, Round Records & ATO Records will release GarciaLive Volume Six: July 5, 1973 – Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders, the latest installment of the celebrated GarciaLive archival series. The three-CD set was recorded at the 200 capacity Lion’s Share club formerly located in the small town of San Anselmo, CA, just 20 miles north of San Francisco. The performance features Jerry Garcia performing with friend, mentor and legendary keyboardist/vocalist Merl Saunders. The duo is joined by drummer Bill Vitt and bassist John Kahn, who soon became a lifelong Garcia collaborator.

Journey have announced a 38-city North American Tour for spring 2023.

The band's Freedom Tour 2023, promoting their 15th studio album Freedom, released in July, will kick off in Allentown, Pennsylvania on February 4, and run through to April 25, in Palm Springs, California. The tour incorporates rescheduled dates in Washington DC, Hartford, Toronto and Quebec that were postponed in May due to an un-named member of the band testing positive for Covid-19. Support on all dates will come from Toto. Guitarist Neal Schon says, "We are all thankful and overwhelmed by the success of our Journey 'Freedom Tour 2022' this year and have added a new run of dates for 2023. We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends Toto! Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin' good memories. See you soon, friends."

Earlier this month Journey surprised fans at the second of their two arena shows in Honolulu by inviting local resident Kirk Hammett onstage to jam with them on a cover of Metallica classic Enter Sandman .

The band were in Hawaii to play a brace of shows at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena, and took the opportunity to invite fellow San Franciscan Hammett to play with them on October 6. Metallica's guitarist also sat in on the band's Infinity -era single Wheel In The Sky on the night.

Journey Announce Huge 2023 North American Tour With Toto

Journey and Toto had such a great time touring together in 2022, they're going to do it together again in 2023. The two legendary rock bands will share the stage on the continuation of Journey's 50th anniversary "Freedom Tour."

The new batch of dates start Feb. 4 in Allentown, Pa., keeping the bands on the road through the April 25 finale in Palm Springs, Calif. You can see all of the dates, cities and venues listed below. It should also be noted that a handful of shows are ones that have been rescheduled from earlier this year when the band had to postpone dates due to COVID-19.

Journey Announces 2024 Tour Dates With Toto

Journey has announced dates for their 50th Anniversary Freedom Tour 2024 featuring special guest Toto .

The trek will make its way through 30 North American cities, beginning Feb. 9 in Biloxi, Missouri, and ending April 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

"We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends Toto," Journey guitarist Neal Schon said in a press release. "Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin' good memories. See you soon, friends."

JOURNEY Announces Fall 2024 Tour Of United Kingdom And Ireland

Legendary rockers JOURNEY have announced a 50th-anniversary tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland, set to take place this fall.

The "Freedom Tour" will kick off at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on October 30, and will include stops in Glasgow, Dublin, Liverpool and Birmingham, before wrapping up at The O2 in London on November 17. Support on the trek will come from CHEAP TRICK .

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. GMT.

JOURNEY features founder Neal Schon (lead guitarist), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Jason Derlatka (keyboards, vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, vocals) and Todd Jensen (bass).

Since the group's formation in 1973, JOURNEY has earned 19 top 40 singles, 25 gold and platinum albums, and has sold over 100 million albums globally. Their "Greatest Hits" album is certified 15 times-platinum, making JOURNEY one of the few bands to ever have been diamond-certified, and their song "Don't Stop Believin'" has been streamed over one billion times alone.

JOURNEY was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, and 2018's co-headlining tour with DEF LEPPARD was the band's most successful tour to date, landing them in the Top 10 year-end touring chart with more than one million tickets sold, and earning them the prestigious Billboard "Legends Of Live" touring award. March 2019 saw the release of "Escape & Frontiers Live In Japan" , a live DVD/CD set from their concert at the Budokan in Tokyo featuring the band's first-ever performances of the albums "Escape" and "Frontiers" in their entirety. JOURNEY has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame . Additionally, the band is the subject of the award-winning documentary "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" about the band's resurgence upon adding Pineda as lead singer after Schon discovered the Philippines native on YouTube .

JOURNEY will team up with DEF LEPPARD for a 2024 stadium concert tour of North America. The 23-city tour opens July 6 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis and concludes September 8 at Coors Field in Denver. The opening act for most of the tour dates will be fellow Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer Steve Miller and his band. Two other Rock Hall inductees will alternate as opening acts for the seven shows Miller is not playing — CHEAP TRICK and HEART .

Journey continues on the road in 2024 celebrating their 50th anniversary playing all the hits from their career and many other special tracks. The group so far had scheduled an extensive tour in the United States and Canada. In North America many of those dates are part of the stadium tour featuring Def Leppard , Steve Miller Band , Heart and Cheap Trick.

They also have announced concerts in the United Kingdom and they will have Cheap Trick as the special guest on those dates.

Journey have announced a 50th anniversary UK and Ireland arena tour, kicking off this autumn. Check out the details below.

The ‘Freedom Tour’ will kick off at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on October 30, followed by stops in Glasgow, Dublin, Liverpool, Birmingham and more. It will close out at The O2 in London on November 17.

Support will come from special guests Cheap Trick across all dates.

The run follows a lengthy trek across the US which will include a massive stadium tour with Def Leppard from July .

Tickets go on sale this Friday (March 1) at 10am GMT, and you’ll be able to purchase yours here . Pre-sales will also begin from Wednesday (28) and Thursday (29) this week.

The ‘Don’t Stop Believin” rockers are currently on tour in the US now, which will continue throughout March, April, July, August and September. Last year also saw them embark on a co-headlining world tour with Mötley Crüe , which took place between February and August 2023.

Journey formed back in San Francisco 1973, releasing their self-titled debut two years later. However, Journey members Schon and Jonathan Cain have been feuding with one another in recent years.

After suing their former band mates, Ross Valory and Steve Smith, claiming they “launched a coup” to take control, they soon turned on each other and even went so far as to hire off-duty police to guard their respective dressing rooms last year .

Among contributing reasons for the souring of their relationship includes Cain’s decision to play at Donald Trump’s infamous resort, Mar-A-Lago, prompting Schon to file a cease-and-desist against him.

Rock legends Journey are bringing their 50th Anniversary Freedom Tour to the UK & Ireland in autumn 2024.

Journey’s first tour on these shores in well over a decade opens at Cardiff Utilita Arena on Wednesday 30th October and visits Nottingham, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham and Newcastle before concluding at London The O2 on Sunday 17th November.

The special guests at all 11 dates are Journey’s fellow rock icons Cheap Trick , who are also celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Tickets to Journey’s UK tour go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Friday 1st March.

Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant completed a 15-date UK tour in March 2024, with his band Saving Grace. Featuring Suzi Dian. British rockers Kira Mac have a fresh headline UK tour lined up for April and May 2024. The Rolling Stones

Another tour happening in 2024 is legendary rock band The Rolling Stones . In October 2023, guitarist Keith Richards confirmed that the band were planning to hit the road in 2024 in support of 'Hackney Diamonds' - their first album of original material in 18 years. Then, in November 2023, the band further teased 2024 tour dates as they shared a link calling fans to sign up to their mailing list, for upcoming news and announcements. After fans noticed their iconic red tongue and lips logo then appearing outside locations in North America, it was confirmed that The Rolling Stones are set to play 15 stadium shows , and one festival, on a colossal tour across the United States and Canada from April-July 2024.

The Cadillac Three

Nashville country fuzz heroes The Cadillac Three will embark on their headline UK & Ireland 'The Years Go Fast Tour' in May 2024. The tour will open at Dublin Academy on Saturday 4th May, with the band visiting Belfast, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Cardiff before concluding with The Cadillac Three's headline slot at Highways Festival at London Royal Albert Hall on Friday 17th May. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

As part of a 22-date European tour, The Boss and his incredible band will be heading to the UK & Ireland in May and July 2024 ! Rammstein will be heading on an 18-date European stadium tour throughout Summer 2024. Dates begin in Prague Airport Letnany on Saturday 11th May, and after touring through 12 European countries over three months, the shows will conclude with two concerts at Gelsenkirchen Veltins Arena - in Rammstein's native Germany - on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July 2024. The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes announced in January that they have lined up a four-date headline English tour for May 2024. The short trek will see Chris and Rich Robinson and co. perform at Manchester O2 Apollo on Tuesday 14th May, then playing London Eventim Apollo and Newcastle O2 City Hall before culminating at Wolverhampton Civic Halls on Saturday 18th May. Following reports that AC/DC were 'looking at 2024 tour dates' to coincide with their 50th anniversary, and after the rock legends' live return at October 2023's Power Trip festival in California, it has been confirmed that AC/DC will perform two colossal concerts at London's Wembley Stadium for this summer. Puregold has officially confirmed its collaboration with Pinoy boy band sensation SB19, much to the excitement of every A’Tin across the Philippines.

The group, often hailed as the “Princes of P-Pop,” teased the collaboration for weeks prior to Puregold’s official announcement made through Instagram posts and stories of them having fun riding Puregold shopping carts.

SB19, comprising Josh, Pablo, Stell, Ken, and Justin, has been at the forefront of the P-Pop movement. Their journey, from their debut marked by rigorous group training sessions to their current status as world-class performers, affirms how immense talent and dedication can drive anyone to succeed. Today, SB19’s music resonates with fans not just in the Philippines but across the globe, attesting to their international appeal.

The past year, however, was not without challenges. Following the release of their latest album, Pagtatag , and while on their first world tour, SB19 had to grapple with the stress and loneliness of being away from home. The group also left their previous management and started their own—a massive undertaking in terms of artistic independence and freedom.

Undeterred by the speed bumps, the SB19 hopes to use such learning experiences in making their most intense and genuine art to date.
