Taylor Swift Fans Have Stopped Caring About Tour Spoilers. Thank God.

Let us all take notes..

This article contains spoilers for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.”

Last week, Taylor Swift embarked upon her incredibly controversial “Eras Tour.” That’s the one that had her fans suffering late last year, attempting to secure tickets via Ticketmaster, an experience so fraught with problems that the Department of Justice had to step in . Now, in an attempt to cater to the leagues of fans that were unable to get tickets—and to satiate international fans, who weren’t even offered tour dates outside the U.S.—fan-run Swiftie social media pages have begun to post set lists and key snippets of musical numbers showing the artist’s choices of costumes and choreography. Fans are spoiling the “Eras Tour” on purpose, and gladly .

Since social media gained steam, the practice of circulating live music’s precious moments has been a point of much deliberation and discourse amongst fans. Possible downsides are obvious: It is incredibly annoying to see one person’s Instagram story basically turn into a live concert you are not currently attending, and it can be mildly annoying to stand behind someone holding a phone up at a show. And if you do have plans to attend at a later date, TikTok and Twitter clips of the concert’s best moments ruin a lot of the surprises—the stuff artists put in to answer the question Why hear it live for hundreds of dollars when I can just listen to it for free in my bedroom? There are a few Swifties who are vocally decrying the inescapability of “Eras Tour” spoilers on social media, but on the whole, these critics are surprisingly hard to find. In fact, what’s more common—or maybe my Twitter algorithm prefers positivity, though I highly doubt that, judging by what else it serves up—are fans who are nothing but thankful for the dozens of angles of Swift’s myriad costume changes throughout her set.

The concert spoiler discourse has pivoted from blame to self-preservation and precaution. Where once scoldy anti-spoiler messages dominated internet stan circles, now the majority of the spoiler discussion is made up of empathetic memes and jokes about the difficulty of avoiding them. Plenty of Swifties have openly announced that they’ve decided to mute specific accounts and tags on Twitter, but the best (if the most impractical) method of anti-spoiler survival is to simply stay off social media until your tour date arrives. Already, fans of BeyoncĂ© with tickets to her upcoming “Renaissance” tour, which kicks off in just a few months, are planning on muting everything BeyoncĂ©-related until it’s their turn to bask in her disco glory. I, for one, will certainly be muting certain social media profiles—including those of my closest friends who are seeing the tour weeks before I am—and topic tags until I am in front of BeyoncĂ© herself.

Navigating this new era of abundant concert spoilers is a bit easier than it used to be. It helps that stan accounts are being open about their spoiling intentions—labeling their posts with spoiler warnings, for one. Some Twitter users have even gone so far as to tell people to prematurely mute their accounts to avoid showing videos and photos. It’s comforting to see fans embracing spoilers and taking it upon themselves to arm themselves against them instead of getting angry that they exist in the first place. It is, of course, highly unreasonable to expect excited fans to sit on prime footage and content for what could be many months before a tour finishes. But the most comforting part about this pivot in stan culture is that it allows us to focus on equitable accessibility to live music. Instead of being annoyed by people posting set lists and videos for themselves and those who can’t attend, we should be more focused on tackling the barriers that limit that attendance.

In the Swifties’ case, it’s widely believed that Taylor Swift fans were mistreated by various predatory selling practices that not only tricked certain fans into falsely believing they’d have access to presales but also made the ticket prices so expensive that fans who had the chance to buy them were forced to pay an arm and a leg. But any update to ticket sellers’ practices would still result in some devoted fans being left out—for some artists, there aren’t enough venues or tour dates in the world to tend to the entirety of their staggering fanbase.

But why stop with Twitter threads of costume changes and fan-generated Instagram livestreams? Why don’t artists make the concert, in its entirety, accessible to people who don’t have an opportunity to witness it? It’s understandable to theorize that if the full tour is offered online, fewer people would be dying to show up. But that might not necessarily be true. British pop-rock band the 1975 livestreamed the November New York stop of their 2022 “At Their Very Best” tour for free on Twitch for fans who couldn’t attend. Bootleg recordings of that livestream could—still can!—be found on various sites. Then, after the end of the U.S. leg of the band’s tour, the livestream was made officially available for constant rewatching on Amazon Prime . Though the livestream was announced months after U.S. tickets had gone on sale, it was made available before some international dates were announced. Not only did it offer something for fans who missed out on tickets, but also, even though one could access the show with no need to pay money or leave the comforts of home, plenty of fans with tickets to later dates still did just that.

What helped bridge the gap is the particular way the 1975 conducts their shows: unpredictably. Even if you went to one stop of the tour, you might have heard a few different songs than the band played at another stop. You might have seen the band’s lead, Matty Healy, perform any number of random, eccentric acts, from kissing random fans one night to getting a tattoo onstage or eating raw meat the next. When it comes to a carefully orchestrated set like Swift’s “Eras Tour” performance, I’m not expecting much to change from city to city. However, small changes, such as different outfits, slightly altered musical arrangements, and even varying vocal ad-libs, have been enough to gratify the ticket-buying fans of plenty of pop stars from BeyoncĂ© to RosalĂa . Obviously, nothing compares to witnessing these slight alterations in person, and I’ve already waxed poetic about the irreplaceable experience of seeing your favorite artist live. But I have also been on the other side of the fence, grateful for glimpses of tours (and one-off performances in Dubai, perhaps ?) that I was unable to attend. I’m the person who begs her friends with concert tickets: “Please, just record one song for me.”

When it comes to stars like Taylor Swift, there’s never a doubt that the fans will show up. But what about the fans who can’t? Tour spoilers are a side effect of social media growth and fan excitement, sure. But they are a big deal because of live music’s lack of accessibility. Instead of being angry about someone spoiling a tour because they want to share the experience with less lucky fans (or, less altruistically, because they want to look cool on TikTok), we could think about the fact that there isn’t a dedicated space for those fans to turn to for live content that isn’t made up of blurry short videos proliferating across your Twitter feed. The Swifties are showing the way.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour will end in December, she announces at 100th show

After playing Europe this summer, Swift will return to the United States and Canada. The last date set for the tour is Dec. 8 in Vancouver.

eras tour on twitch

Taylor Swift said her record-breaking Eras Tour will end in December, appearing to confirm the tour’s conclusion for the first time Thursday night onstage in Liverpool, England.

The Anfield Stadium stop was the 100th show of the tour, which began in March 2023 . Swift told the audience that the milestone “doesn’t feel like a real statistic,” saying it felt like the tour had just begun.

“This has definitely been the most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life, this tour,” Swift said, according to footage from the audience posted on social media.

“The celebration of the 100th show for me means this is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December,” she continued. “That feels so far away from now, but then again, it feels like we just played our first show on this tour. Because you have made this so much fun for us that we wanted to do 100 shows — 150-something shows that we have on the whole tour.”

Since the tour’s first stop in Glendale, Ariz., Swift has created a cultural phenomenon and solidified her pop dominance, performing in 17 states and 12 countries so far across North America, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe.

The 3œ-hour-long show became the highest-grossing tour of all time by surpassing $1 billion in December, and it has broken attendance records at multiple stadiums. The film version became the highest-grossing concert film ever, according to the Grammy Awards.

Swift kicked off the European leg of her tour last month and will perform there through August. She will return to the United States briefly in October and November, with concerts in Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis.

The tour’s final announced dates are in Toronto and Vancouver at the end of November and beginning of December, respectively. The last scheduled tour date is Dec. 8, five days before Swift’s 35th birthday.

The Style section

“This tour has really become my entire life. It’s become — it’s taken over everything. I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore, because all I do when I’m not onstage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear,” Swift said at Thursday’s show. “When I’m not on the stage, I’m dreaming about being back on the stage with you guys.”

She made the comments before playing the 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” one of her most celebrated songs . Dressed in the red sequined costume that corresponds with her “Red” album, on which the song appears, Swift smiled as she acknowledged the lengths to which fans have gone to attend the concert.

“You have done so much to be with us, right? You’ve made plans so far in advance. You planned what you were going to wear, you memorized lyrics, you got yourselves here, you figured out parking, you figured out transportation,” Swift said.

“I want to spend the 100th show just thinking about that and living in this moment with you and being here with you. And just know that I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you put in to being with us.”

December will mark the official end of an era — or, the end of the Eras tour . It’s taken the UK’s great musical city of Liverpool to do it, but Taylor Swift was finally brought to tears by her fans on Saturday evening, as she performed her final concert there in front of a crowd of 60,000.

The singer had staged three shows at the Anfield stadium – more famous for its long association with Liverpool FC. The Daily Mail reports that Swift began looking “visibly emotional” while singing her 2020 hit Champagne Problems .

This moment came the same day as her ex-partner Joe Alwyn broke his silence on their long relationship being referenced in Swift’s most recent album The Tortured Poets Department .

The Saturday show saw Swift surprise the crowd with a fresh acoustic mash-up of her songs; this time it was Carolina and No Body No Crime , and also The Manuscript and Red .

The tour will continue in the UK with Swift heading to Cardiff on Tuesday before London later in the month.

It's the end of an era: Taylor Swift says Eras Tour will end in December

It's the end of an Era(s Tour).

Taylor Swift announced Thursday night during her Eras Tour show in Liverpool, England, that her behemoth concert tour will officially end its unprecedented run in December, presumably after her Dec. 6-8 shows at the BC Palace in Vancouver, British Columbia.

"This is the very first time I've ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is gonna end in December. Like, that's it," Swift said in a speech onstage during the "Red" set.

"That feels like so far away from now, but then again, it feels like we just played our first show on this tour because you have made this so much fun for us that we wanted to do 100 shows, 150-something shows that we have on the whole tour," she continued.

Swift said the Eras Tour has "become my entire life" and "taken over everything," including her hobbies, which have been replaced with sitting at home and trying "to think of clever, like, acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear" during the "surprise song" set of her show.

From the stage, Swift also acknowledged that Thursday's show was the 100th on the Eras Tour ( on June 13, no less ). She called the experience the "most exhausting, all-encompassing but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life, this tour, these moments with you."

The Eras Tour, which started March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, has spanned five continents. When the tour wraps, Swift will have performed 152 shows. The tour has broken records and yielded (a few versions of) a concert tour movie that broke records in its own right .

Thursday's comments were the first time Swift has announced an end date to her beloved Eras Tour, which she had been adding dates to over the last year.

It’s unclear what she will be up to next, but any true Swiftie knows it’s sure to be enchanting.

Swift continues her European run this weekend in Liverpool before a rare Tuesday show in Cardiff, Wales, followed by shows in London next week.

Taylor Swift to end record-breaking Eras Tour in December, singer announces

eras tour on twitch

Sorry Swifties, Taylor Swift will not extend her record-breaking, behemoth Eras Tour to 2025.

"This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," the singer said sentimentally during her "All Too Well" speech before the 10-minute song.

"This tour has really become my entire life, it's taken over everything, like I think I once had hobbies," she joked in her bedazzled red and black jacket. "All I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear."

Her acoustic section has become a fan-favorite, unique to every city. The singer began mashing up songs in 2024. Swift still has about 30 songs in her vast discography left to perform.

"You have done so much to be with us," she continued. "You've made plans so far in advance. You planned what you were going to wear. You memorized lyrics. You got yourself here. You figured out parking. You figured out transportation, and I want spend the 100th show just thinking about that and living in that moment and being here with you, and just know I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you put in to be with us when this show reaches triple digits in shows. So thank you!"

A show that 'spans 18 years of music'

In November 2022, Taylor Swift announced her magnum opus on social media , "I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!) The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!"

The original post only showed 27 concerts over the course of a year. The demand quickly escalated that number to 66 shows for year one and 86 for year two in 22 countries (U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Singapore, France, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria and Canada).

With album announcements , music video reveals, special guests appearances and a whole new "Tortured Poets" set unveiled in Paris, France, the tour has continued to evolve and impress. Swift has broken attendance records for many stadiums across the world and countries have welcomed the singer in innovative ways. A hidden language of Swift-ese has developed in the form of friendship bracelets, custom concert chants ("1, 2, 3 let's go b****" and "Where you going Taylor?") and unforgettable dance moves. Tens of thousands of fans log on to watch livestreams every concert night anticipating Swift's outfits and custom mashups of songs not included in the massive 46-song set list .

More: A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

Swift's concert movie bypassed production studios as the singer worked directly with AMC as a distributor bringing fans dancing and singing in the aisles. The movie is available to watch on Disney+ .

No word on if she will release a second movie with the newly scrambled show and additional set.

Swift is only a third of the way through her 51 European stops. In the fall, she will come back to North America, heading to Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis in October and November and then Canada. Her last show for 2024 is on Dec. 8 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
