ANYTHING GOES takes you back to the Golden Age of high society on the seas from the comfort of your seat. The lavish production has smashed multiple Box Office records at the Barbican Theatre including the single highest grossing performance week for a musical in the Barbican’s 39-year history and the highest sales across a weekend for a musical, as audiences flooded through the doors for the 15-week sold-out season!

Now from spring 2022, audiences across the country will also get the chance to enjoy the truly spectacular, multi-Tony Award winning, “show of the year!” (★★★★★ Daily Telegraph), as the S.S American will be heading to theatres in Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Canterbury on its way to the Barbican! Producer Sir Howard Panter said: “ We are delighted to be back with the glorious Anything Goes musical at the Barbican next summer! We were thrilled with the response to this energetic and uplifting show – audiences just couldn’t get enough and to achieve 15 weeks sold out night after night and a gross of £717,000 in one week really is quite some feat! We are equally delighted to take this majestic show on tour across the UK, so audiences around the country can enjoy the glorious set design, breathtaking choreography and stage direction, and of course the wonderful score! ”

ANYTHING GOES has music and lyrics by Cole Porter, an original book by P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton with Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse and a new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. This production is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention head out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love… proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, a comical disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail. This hilarious musical romp across the Atlantic featuring a collection of some of theatre’s most memorable songs – including ‘I Get A Kick Out of You’, ‘Anything Goes’, ‘You’re the Top’, ‘Blow, Gabriel, Blow’, ‘It’s De-Lovely’, ‘Friendship’ and ‘Buddie Beware’ – will take you back to the Golden Age of high society on the seas. ANYTHING GOES is set to sail away with audiences all over again.

Anything Goes

Buy Anything Goes tickets to sail away on an all-singing, all-dancing, all-tapping voyage to find true love in this timeless musical

All aboard! Sutton Foster and Robert Lindsay lead a brand new revival of classic Broadway musical Anything Goes at the Barbican Theatre .

Broadway superstar Sutton Foster is a two-time Tony Award winner who is reprising her award-winning performance as Reno Sweeney in the revival, which marks her debut in the West End. Her other Broadway credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek the Musical and Little Women. On-screen, she is best known for her starring role in the TV show Younger.

Lindsay is a three-time Olivier Award-winning actor, who was most recently seen on stage in a UK tour of the acclaimed Hampstead Theatre production of Prism. His starring role in the BBC comedy My Family made him a household name in the UK, securing BAFTA and National Television Award nominations. Lindsay will star opposite Mullally as Moonface Martin.

Set aboard the S. S. American, an ocean liner sailing across the Atlantic to London, Anything Goes tells the story of two unlikely sets of lovers as they embark on a quest to find true love. It’s not all smooth sailing though, as this hilariously bumpy ride features blackmail buffoonery, dastardly disguises, and more tap dancing sailors than you can shake an anchor at.

Anything Goes is one of the most beloved musicals of all-time, with a score crammed full of classic songs by composer Cole Porter such as “I Get a Kick Out of You”, “It’s De-Lovely”, “You’re the Top”, and of course, the unforgettable title song.

Don’t miss this major new production of Anything Goes for a jolt of pure, timeless pleasure , which plays a limited season at the Barbican Theatre from 23rd July to 17th October 2021.

THE WHO Announces July 2023 U.K. Tour And New Live Album

jszfunk

https://blabbermouth.net/news/the-who-announces-july-2023-u-k-tour-and-new-live-album#:~:text=THE%20WHO%20Announces%20July%202023%20U.K.%20Tour%20And%20New%20Live%20Album

Legendary rock band   THE WHO   has announced a U.K. tour which will see the band performing with a full orchestra each night with shows from July 6 to 23 in Hull, Edinburgh, London, Derby, Badminton, Durham, St Helens and Brighton. Joining them will be   UB40   featuring   Ali Campbell   across all regional shows except for The O2 London and Edinburgh Castle dates.

Pete Townshend ,   Roger Daltrey   and band will be performing music from throughout the band's nearly 60-year career, including sections devoted to classic albums   "Tommy"   and   "Quadrophenia"   as well as other beloved   WHO   tracks and songs from their 2019   "Who"   album, their first studio release in 13 years.

The 2023 U.K. shows include Edinburgh Castle, the band's first show in the Scottish capital in over 40 years as well as shows in Derby, their first since 1966, The O2 London, Durham and Brighton Cricket grounds. The gigs follow last year's highly acclaimed   "The Who Hits Back"   tour of the U.S., where the band shared the with some of the finest orchestras in America.

The 2023 U.K. tour will feature   THE WHO 's full live band comprised of guitarist/backup singer   Simon Townshend , keyboardist   Loren Gold , second keyboardist   Emily Marshall , bassist   Jon Button , drummer   Zak Starkey   and backing vocals by   Billy Nicholls , along with orchestra conductor   Keith Levenson , lead violinist   Katie Jacoby   and lead cellist   Audrey Snyder .

THE WHO   wound up their   "Who Hits Back"   tour of the U.S. in November last year having wowed audiences in over thirty cities, with media and fans agreeing that the band were as good as, if not better than ever and that the orchestral arrangements, most of which were done by the legendary   David Campbell , brought a new depth and excitement to   Pete Townshend 's music.

Performing with   THE WHO   and an orchestra had been a long-held ambition for singer   Roger Daltrey . He says: "Having not toured the U.K. for six years, it's great that at this time of our careers we have the chance to go to places that are not on the usual touring map Edinburgh Castle and Derby, as well as the other cities across the country that we haven't been to for decades, will make this very special for me. This opportunity will give our U.K.   WHO   fans the chance to hear our current show, which, with the addition of an orchestra, takes our music to new heights."

Townshend   adds: " Roger   initially christened this tour with an orchestra   'Moving On!'   I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic   WHO   music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. I'm really looking forward to bringing this show to the U.K."

THE WHO   are calling upon fans to add an optional £1 donation on to their ticket price at point of sale in support of   Teenage Cancer Trust .   Pete Townshend   and   Roger Daltrey   are longstanding supporters and   Roger   has been the driving force behind   Teenage Cancer Trust 's Royal Albert Hall concerts since they began in 2000.

In July 2019,   THE WHO   headlined Wembley Stadium in London for the first time in 40 years. The show was the only U.K. date on their   "Moving On"   tour and featured the band accompanied by an over 50-piece orchestra performing classic tracks and more as well tracks from their   "Who"   album. "The Who With Orchestra Live At Wembley" will be released as a limited-edition yellow, orange and red 3LP set, triple black vinyl, 2CD / Blu-ray set which features the audio remixed in Dolby Atmos and 1CD edition.

THE WHO   with orchestra U.K. tour 2023:

July 06 - Sewell Group Craven Park, Hull* July 08 - Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh July 09 - Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh July 12 - The O2, London July 14 - The Incora County Ground, Derby* July 16 - Badminton Estate, Bristol* July 19 - Seat Unique Riverside, Durham* July 21 - Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens* July 23 - The 1st Central County Ground, Brighton*

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Stephen

God bless ‘em - know I’d love The Who Hit Back & their modern stuff - cool venues w/places like the castle, Unique Seats, Totally Wicked Stadium, the county grounds etc

JimSheridan

Well, I certainly love The Who but am somewhat wary of certain elements of their hype and repackaging. This quote from the above article kills me:  " THE WHO   wound up their   "Who Hits Back"   tour of the U.S. in November last year having wowed audiences in over thirty cities, with media and fans agreeing that the band were as good as, if not better than ever...."   Come on, now. Is there anyone out there who thinks that the 2022 tour was better than how they sounded in 1969 or 1971 with Moon and Entwistle?!

That being said, I am delighted that the live disc/blue ray has a setlist that is not just the obvious greatest hits:

1. Who Are You 2. Eminence Front 3. Imagine A Man 4. Pinball Wizard 5. Hero Ground Zero 6. Join Together 7. Substitute (Without Orchestra) 8. The Seeker (Without Orchestra) 9. Won't Get Fooled Again (Acoustic) 10. Behind Blue Eyes (Acoustic) 11. Ball And Chain 12. The Real Me 13. I’m One 14. The Punk And The Godfather 15. Drowned (Without Orchestra) 16. The Rock 17. Love Reign O'er Me 18. Baba O’Riley 19. Tea & Theatre (Acoustic)
