Frequently Asked Questions

Q: what is the best time to book a moscow hop-on hop-off tour.

March to May is the best time to plan a visit to Moscow. The days are long with significant sunshine which makes this time ideal for exploring the city. January is the coldest month so make sure to avoid it if you have a low tolerance for chilly weather. However, you will be able to score some good deals on airfare and accommodation during this time.

Q: How does it work?

Moscow bus tour offers you the convenience and flexibility to get off at the nearest designated stop. No tour guide, you set your own itinerary. You’ll find all the stops are located strategically at all the major attractions, making your touring as hassle-free as possible. And then, when you’re ready to continue, return to a designated bus stop, show your pass, and hop back on the bus and onwards towards your next attraction. So, go ahead and make a whole loop of the route once you have your tour ticket, get familiar with the city and pick out your favorite places to visit and then return to them during your stay.

Q: How many days are enough to explore Moscow?

We recommend at least two to three days to explore Moscow at a relaxed pace and cover most of its prominent attractions while enjoying shopping and local cuisine.

Q: What is the validity of the ticket?

There are several ticket options available to you, depending on your length of stay. Each bus tour will have validity from 24, 36, 48 to 72 hours. And the great thing is you can plan ahead as the vouchers are valid anywhere between 6 months to 1 year and can be used at any point during that period. Check the product page or bus tour operator for complete details.

Q: Where can I find a list of all the stops and a map of the various Moscow hop-on hop-off tour routes?

You can visit the relevant product page and check the Useful Downloads section to find the latest information as routes, stops, and timings change frequently.

Classic Moscow Tour 5 days/4 nights (every Monday)

Moscow is a city that can take months, if not years, to get to be known properly, and visitors often do not know where to start - there is so much to see! We will show you the city in a day packed with variety and wonder. In the first half of the day, we will take you around the highlights of the city on our comfortable tour bus, and our guide will keep you entertained with fascinating true stories about the city’s past, present, and future.

We will stop for lunch in a traditional Russian restaurant, where you’ll be able to discover the country’s rich culinary heritage. After lunch, we will take you to the most historic site in Moscow: the Kremlin. We will show you around this city within a city, and you will visit the ancient Kremlin cathedrals, where generations of tsars were crowned and buried.

Then you will visit one of Moscow’s oldest and most fascinating museums - the Kremlin Armory. With its unique collections from the Tsar period: historical armor and weapons, Russian and European silver and gold tableware and jewelry, ancient state regalia, and ceremonial vestments, historic clothing, the carriages used by many of Russia’s tsars, and Fabergé eggs, it truly has something for everybody!

Within the Armory is another great treasure house - the Kremlin Diamond Fund, which hides the former Imperial treasury - the personal gem collections of Russia’s tsars - updated with more recently - discovered specimens. Here you will see the Great Imperial Crown made for Catherine the Great - which alone contains 5000 diamonds - along with other priceless cut and uncut diamonds and other precious stones, many with a fascinating history.

This summer, brush up on your local history with tours that highlight everything from architectural styles to underground critters..

In a city with a history as rich as Chicago’s, summertime is full of opportunity to explore outside your neighborhood, fire up your kids’ summer brains or simply try something different.

Head underground … and watch for rats

Why go on a walking tour that openly plugs rats? Because those critters own this city just as much as we do. Tour ,” a 90-minute exploration of the city under the city. Departing from the Mag Mile and quickly descending into the lower regions and underbelly of the city, it’s an educational way to learn something new about Chicago, entertain guests hankering for a tour or simply avoid the hot summer sun. $30, 90 minutes, tourswithmike.com .

If you pay any attention to residential buildings in older parts of town, you may be familiar with the typical workers cottage: small, 1½-story homes built for working-class families between the 1880s and 1919. Across the city, there are nearly 60,000 of these homes, but they’re rapidly being demolished. Enter the Chicago Workers Cottage Initiative , a small group who organized in 2021 to celebrate these little houses and preserve them from demolition. During the warmer months, the group occasionally leads informative, intimate tours of neighborhoods with a lot of workers cottages such as McKinley Park and Logan Square . Dig into the city’s love affair with film

Yes, we know about the Art Institute’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off tour — but this one’s better. “ From Fairgrounds to Film Set: Chicago’s Midway, Movies, and the 1893 World’s Fair ” starts from the Midway Plaisance, whose ties go back to the World’s Fair, then winds along the tree-lined streets of Hyde Park to showcase five stops tied to the movies. It’s worth your time just to stroll through the leafy University of Chicago campus, and you’ll walk away with a new appreciation for our city’s role in the film industry. $29.99, 75 minutes; chicagomovietours.com .

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Moscow on Monday for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine. Experts believe the tour is aimed at deepening the bilateral relations and accelerating economic and trade ties.

India is a long-time partner of Russia, and New Delhi has sought to continue its relationship with Moscow despite the US and western countries urging nations to sever ties, threatening sanctions for trade relations in certain sectors.

The two-day visit by Mr Modi is at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the 22nd Russia-India annual summit - the highest dialogue mechanism in the partnership between the nations.

This would also be Mr Modi’s first foreign visit since returning to power for a third time in June.

India’s External Affairs Ministry said the leaders will “review the entire range of multifaceted relations and exchange views on contemporary regional and global issues of mutual interest”.

Mr Modi had last visited Moscow in 2019, whereas Mr Putin was in New Delhi in 2021.

The leaders have met several times at international summits and often spoken over the phone.

New Delhi has refused to explicitly condemn Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and repeatedly abstained from voting on western-backed resolutions at the UN, since the war broke out in February 2022.

It has repeatedly stressed resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

“There is really no disagreement that Russia is a consistent and strategic partner; there are no hiccups in this relationship. The visit is linked with Indian and Russian economy, defence and geostrategy,” Anuradha M Chenoy, a Delhi-based expert on Russia and former dean of the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, told The National.

“It is an important visit, and the world will be watching. India has supported Russia; it did not criticise Russia in the UN and abstained continuously and Russia is very grateful for that, and Russia has supported India internationally.”

Russia is an important trade partner for India.

The South Asian nation exports drugs and other pharmaceutical products, chemicals, iron and steel and coffee.

Bilateral trade between the nations had reached an all-time high of $65.70 billion in the last financial year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

India’s exports were at $4.26 billion, whereas its imports stood at $61.44 billion in 2023-24.

New Delhi also started buying discounted oil from Russia to fulfil its energy requirements, despite crippling West-backed economic sanctions on Russia since its military campaign in Ukraine. India's oil imports increased tenfold in 2022, according to Bank of Baroda, reaching 20 per cent of the country's imported crude.

Those imports reached 40 per cent in 2023.

Arms trade partner

Russia has also been India’s critical source of weapons and military technology . Before the Ukraine war, New Delhi sourced around 85 per cent of the country’s military equipment from Moscow.

This began to slump in the wake of US sanctions on Russian arms exports, which have tightened since Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea.

Since the 2022 Ukraine war, a combination of tighter western sanctions and Russian prioritising of its war effort have seen India's imports of Russian arms drop to 36 per cent of New Delhi's total supply, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

New Delhi nonetheless has a long list of Russian-made military inventories ranging from fighter jets and nuclear submarines to battle tanks and assault rifles.

The two countries have deals on supplying 750,000 AK-203 assault rifles and a $5.43 billion deal for S-400 ‘Trimuf’ anti-aircraft system.

Russia has already delivered three units of the missiles and is expected to deliver the remaining two by 2025.

There are also reports that the Russian state-controlled oil giant Rosneft has plans to make big investments in India.

Indian Railways has also issued a contract with Russian Metrowagonmash, a leading engineering company, for manufacturing 120 Vande Bharat trains, the indigenous semi-high-speed trains.

Russia imports coal, fertilisers, pearls, precious and semi-precious stones and vegetable oils.

The two nations are working on a financial plan to bypass global dollar trade through their rupee-rouble mechanism.

“India-Russia trade has been in rupee-rouble trade bypassing the dollar, which is very convenient for India, but India is importing more but Russia is not importing as much,” Ms Chenoy said.

“There is a balance of trade issue where Russia has accumulated a lot of Indian rupees but because of sanctions, has not been able to utilise the rupees.”

“It will be high on Mr Modi’s agenda.”

Geostrategy

New Delhi and Moscow are strong geostrategic partners and are part of several trilateral and multilateral forums and economic corridors.

India is part of the International North-South Transport Corridor, an initiative by Russia, Iran, and India to enhance trade and transport connectivity among countries along its route to counter western sanctions.

New Delhi is also funding the Chennai- Vladivostok Eastern Maritime Corridor, an ambitious sea route that aims at increasing trade between the two countries and India’s presence in the Asia-Pacific, where China remains a dominant player.

China has massively increased its economic and military footprint in the Asian region, particularly with Pakistan, India’s arch-rival.

Tensions have remained high between New Delhi and Beijing, particularly since 2020 when a deadly clash erupted between the rival militaries along the disputed Himalayan border region.

Russia tried to play peacemaker and de-escalate tensions between the regional powers and helped facilitate a meeting between the Indian and Chinese foreign ministers in Moscow in 2020.

Russia over the decades has vetoed several resolutions seeking UN interventions in Kashmir – the Himalayan disputed territory claimed by both India and Pakistan.

China also rules a portion of the erstwhile Himalayan Kingdom known as Aksai Chin, which is now part of the Chinese Xinjiang and Tibet region.

New Delhi is engaged in a tense border dispute with both Islamabad and Beijing, with a decades-long armed insurgency raging in the part of Kashmir ruled by India.

"India is a long-time partner of Russia and New Delhi has sought to continue its relationship with Moscow despite ons with India,” Ms Chenoy said.

“Russia is willing to extend any goodwill that both countries might want but they don’t want to intervene in India’s domestic issues. They hope India and China will improve their relationship and there will be a resolution.”

Paris Big Bus Tour Review

T he Paris Big Bus Tour is the gift that keeps on giving. Truth be told I love to walk and see cities on foot, but Paris is a must by bus because it makes financial sense, and it will save you a lot of time.

The Big Bus Tour in Paris

Is it worth it.

When traveling, I am a fan of taking public transportation and traveling like a local. It’s environmentally friendly and you can save money on car rental expenses.

Taking the Big Bus Tour was one of the best decisions that we made because the tourist attractions are spread apart, and you can see many more points of interest while saving time and money.

Paris is made up of 20 neighborhoods (or arrondissements) and the Big Bus Tour will travel through 7 of them.

We spent a total of 9 days and Paris and had a pretty full agenda which included lunch at the Eiffel Tower , a river cruise on the Seine, a day trip to Versailles, a classical concert at La Sainte Chapelle, trips to outdoor markets like Marche des Enfants Rouges, visiting the rooftop of the Arc de Triumph, souvenir shopping, Sacre Coeur, the Louvre Museum, the Champs Elysees, the Catacombs, Rue de Cler, Pont Alexandre , a croissant making class with a Parisien chef, Ile de la Cite, Berthillon, and more. We also ventured out to see Paris at night and the views were stunning!

How Long is the Big Bus Tour in Paris

The Red Route is the main tour, and it takes about two hours to see everything if you don’t exit the bus. We stayed on the bus from start to finish to get a idea of places that we wanted to visit on foot.

How Much is the Big Bus Tour in Paris

The ticket fee will vary based on the number of days that you want to join the tour bus. I recommend the combination ticket where you can see the points of interest for the Big Bus, and take a cruise on the river Seine.

It is possible to do both the tour and the cruise in one day. If you join the tour and finish by 5 PM, you can then join the cruise on the river and catch the sunset depending on the time of year that you go.

Check for tickets on the Paris Big Bus Tour here .

Are There Toilets on the Big Bus

Sorry, but no matter what the city it is very likely that you won’t find any restrooms. However, you can ask the driver or attendants on the bus to guide you. The wonderful thing about Paris is there are public restrooms available for just a euro.

When is the Best Time to Visit Paris

We went on the bus tour at the end of March for Spring break. The weather was a bit chilly and in the high 50s to low 60s. It was sunny, but not incredibly warm.

The prime months are April, May, September, and October when highs reach a comfortable 60-70°F (15-21°C).

Big Bus Tour Review

We purchased our tickets online using a smartphone after touring Notre Dame. Because the cathedral was one of the tour stops, we thought we were close, but the stop was a 7-minute walk away.

To add, the area was congested, and the instructions were confusing. After calling the tour company, we found the stop heading west but then learned that the bus stop was across the street and coming from the south direction.

Fortunately, we caught it in time and were able to get nice seats on the upper deck.

It was a sunny, cool day and one would think would be an excellent opportunity for photos. The problem for me is that I don’t have great photography skills and I was using my smartphone.

When we got to a landmark or icon, it was difficult to take a good shot due to the speed at which the bus traveled, bumps in the road, construction equipment, or overgrown trees, not to mention the hands, heads, and cameras of other passengers.

On our tour there were two routes in operation, the red route, and another color (which may no longer be available). The red route took about two hours to see everything. Then we had to exit the bus at the last stop to catch another bus that went into other neighborhoods.

The most interesting point on the second route was The Moulin Rouge. Otherwise, the sights were non-eventful, so we caught up on rest and napped on the lower level during the ride.

Overall, it was time well spent. And since we planned activities at a few of the attractions we had the chance to make up for bad photos taken on the bus.

Where to Catch the Big Bus Tour in Paris

There are 10 stops on the red route and the buses will arrive in frequent intervals. During peak visiting months, like spring to summer, you can expect longer waits and slim pickings for a good seat.

1 – Louvre Pyramide / Big Bus Information Centre (11 avenue de l’Opéra)

2 – Louvre at Pont des Arts (2 rue de l’Amiral de Coligny)

3 – Notre Dame ( 3, Rue Lagrange (outside souvenir shop, opposite park entrance)

4 – Musée d’Orsay (58 Place Henry de Montherlant, facing the museum)

5 – Champs-Elysées (156, avenue des Champs-Elysées, facing the Arc de Triomphe)

6 – Grand Palais (Avenue Winston Churchill, facing Grand Palais and Petit Palais)

7 – Trocadéro (Avenue Paul Doumer, next to the Musée de l’Homme)

8- Tour Eiffel (Quai Branly, Entrée 2 Tour Eiffel, at the north pillar of the Eiffel Tower)

9 – Champ de Mars (Avenue Joseph Bouvard)

10 – Opéra Garnier (Facing 15 rue Scribe, next to the Roissy airport shuttle bus stop)

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The tour is pre-recorded and the audio narratives can be heard in English, French, Italian , Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin, and Korean.
  • Be mindful of potential traffic delays, especially during peak hours so that you can plan your tour for off-peak times to avoid congestion.
  • Be aware of any events that may alter the experience (rallies, protests, huge sports competitions).

I can’t emphasize the awareness of events enough. There was an enormous parade outside our hotel on one trip, and protests that caused the Champs Elysee to be boarded up during another trip.

Final Thoughts on the Paris Big Bus Tour

Overall, it was a pretty fun girls’ trip but the last thing I wated to do was spend most of our time and money riding the subway all over Paris.

The Big Bus is a no brainer if you want to see the best of Paris without wearing yourself out.

As a US citizen, I try to make the most of my visits to Europe.

The more countries I visit, the more I am convinced that I’ve made the best use of a 10-hour flight.

A quick trip to the Covent Garden in London, Venice , Italy, or any another country is always must for me.

And as always, you can see whether you are in New York , Paris, or Chicago , you experience so much in a short amount of time with a Big Bus Tour.

Dozens injured, 32 hospitalized after double-decker bus collides with city bus in NYC

salon bus tour

A crash involving a double-decker tour bus and a city bus in New York City Thursday night left dozens of people injured, including 32 who were hospitalized, fire and EMS officials said.

The wreck took place just after 7 p.m. in Manhattan near East 23rd Street and 1st Avenue, the New York Fire Department reported.

During a press conference at the scene, NYFD Deputy Chief Kevin Murphy said first responders responded to a major vehicle crash and found what he described as a serious accident.

During the late evening press conference, officials confirmed at least 81 people were being evaluated by first responders. Earlier reports indicated about 40 people had been hurt.

At least 32 people were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non life-threatening injuries, officials told USA TODAY Friday morning.

A majority of them were being treated for cuts, bruises, suspected broken bones, as well as head and neck injuries, New York EMS Division 1 Deputy Chief Paul Hopper said.

Among those transported included the driver of the tour bus. The extent of the driver's injuries was not immediately known.

As of Friday morning no fatalities had been reported.

'A few minor challenges'

“We’ve had a few minor challenges in the double decker bus − going through the windows, taking people out,” Hopper said in response to EMS operations.

Murphy said crews used ladders and ropes to rescue people due to the amount of damage the bus sustained.

“I heard the lady next to me scream, so I looked up and I saw this bus barreling towards us,” Ishrak Jahan, a passenger on one bus, told CBS News New York. “I just saw glass everywhere for a second. It was honestly like I was in a movie ... I saw blood. I immediately called 911.”

Cause of crash under investigation

The cause of the crash remained under investigation on Friday.

New York Police could not immediately be reached by USA TODAY on Friday morning.

It was not immediately known if either of the bus drivers were cited in connection to the crash.

Laugh and learn: Funny Bus offers unique comedy tour of Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Did you know Tremont has one of the largest concentrations of churches in the country?

Immigrants moved to the industrial neighborhood following jobs in nearby factories and steel mills. With them came different religions, requiring separate churches.

At least that’s how comedian and Cleveland native Sarah Vulpio told it as part of a Funny Bus Comedy City Tour on Saturday. The 90-minute bus rides blend local history with humor, giving a unique perspective of Cleveland, The Flats, Ohio City and Tremont.

Riders weren’t there to question. They willingly turned the history into a drinking game, yelling, “Church,” and taking a swig from their beverage of choice with each siting.

It can make for a dangerous game in greater Cleveland, which Vulpio notes boasts over 1,200 churches.

“But anything’s a church if you pray near it,” she joked, encouraging riders to take another sip, regardless.

That’s part of the charm of the bus. Each tour showcases the same city highlights over a 17-mile route, like Cleveland Browns Stadium, West Side Market and Terminal Tower, but because they’re led by one of four local comedians, no two trips are the same. Guides put their own spin on the history.

Vulpio’s signature is energy. Riders might recognize her humor and wit from shows at Imposters Theater, Hilarities or other local bars that host stand-up comedy. The bus, in some ways, becomes an extension of her act.

She also sings and dances with riders and engages passersby on the street, who dance and wave back. One man in Ohio City responded with break dancing moves.

Dean Schnurr started the company with his wife in 2021, modeling after the original Funny Bus tours his sister launched in Charlotte, N.C. Now, tours sell out for birthdays, celebrations or to those just hoping to get to know their city a little better.

More than half of the riders on Saturday said they had toured with the bus before. One couple vacationing from Clearwater, Florida, thought it was the best way to get to know the city.

Schnurr agrees.

“I guarantee you’ll learn something new,” he told cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. “We have lifelong Clevelanders who get on the bus and say they were surprised by something.”

The regular tours run Thursday through Sunday from April to the end of the year. Special routes are added in October and December featuring Halloween-inspired facts and Christmas lights, respectively.

Tours are rated R, and open to riders 17 and older. Tickets cost $29. Reservations are required.

The Funny Bus currently picks up and drops off at Collision Bend Brewing, 1250 Old River Rd., with one bathroom stop halfway through the route. Riders can grab drinks for carryout at either location or bring their own soda, water, beer and wine. Liquor is prohibited.
