Are you looking for a day tour destination near Manila? Or planning for a weekend trip?

Tagaytay City is the answer and one of the best tourist destinations near the capital of the Philippines, Manila. It’s only a 2-hour drive away from Manila .

Now, if you’re wondering why, you should visit Tagaytay city and what to expect here, then you have to stick with this article. Because in this article, I am going to reveal my Tagaytay day tour experience, what to expect, how to get there, the best food in the city, and lastly, some bonus tips for your journey.

So without wasting further time, let’s get started!

WHAT IS COVERED IN THIS ARTICLE?

Best time to visit Tagaytay City

Tagaytay Day Tour

Tagaytay city is well known for its cool weather. The climate is always mild and moderate here. But in the rainy season, the city gets too wet due to the highest amount of rainfall. So try to avoid visiting Tagaytay city from June to September.

On the other hand, summer and winter are the most suitable seasons to visit Tagaytay. So you can make your trip from November to May if you’re willing to watch the city with its utmost beauty.

What to expect in Tagaytay City

We’re talking about a Tagaytay day tour, but it seems pretty impossible for me to cover all its jewels in a single day. And if you don’t want to miss out on some of its most popular tourist spots, you definitely should start as earlier as possible.

Here is the list of what you can expect in Tagaytay city to make your day trip remarkable.

1. Enjoy zipline & horseback riding @ Picnic Grove

Picnic-Grove

Tagaytay Picnic Grove is a place where you can enjoy the picturesque view of Taal Lake and Taal volcano and do lots of fun activities like horse riding, zipline, and cable car riding.

It is a 13-hectare park that also has an Echo trail for walking. For me, the most magnificent part of the Echo trail is the hanging bridge which will give you an elegant view.

It’s the picnic hotspot for locals as well as outsiders who come for day trips or weekend holidays. Here you can rent huts and picnic sheds at a very reasonable price. And I’m sure you will not skip its souvenir shops from where you can buy some Tagaytay famous foods and souvenir items.

2. Take pictures @ People’s Park in the Sky

Peoples-Park-in-the-Sky

People’s Park in the Sky is an unfinished mansion that is more popular as “People’s Park” among locals.

The mansion was started to build in 1981 for the purpose of hosting the visit of US President Ronald Reagan. But the supposed visit was cancelled, and it remains unfinished. The mansion is situated at the top of the mountain. And that’s why it was named “ the Palace in the Sky” in the first place.

Later on, the mansion was turned into an amusement park, and the name was replaced by People’s Park in the Sky. So if you manage to visit People’s Park, you can have a breathtaking view of the hilltop.

Apart from admiring the excellent views and taking pictures, the park doesn’t have many activities to do. Of course, you will get some souvenir shops here too.

The fun doesn’t end here! The Sky Ranch also has thrilling rides like Super Viking, Zipline, Drop Tower, Safari Splash, Log Coaster, and Bumper Car Race .

Taal-Volcano-and-Taal-Lake

Taal Volcano and Taal Lake are the must-visit attractions in Tagaytay City. Though Taal Volcano is not situated under Tagaytay territory, still the place is worthwhile to put some extra effort into visiting.

It is the treasure of the city, and no tourist of Tagaytay does miss the view of Taal Volcano and Taal Lake.

The best way to admire the lake view is by dining at some nearby restaurants like  Bag of Beans, Balay Dako, Charito Ridge Park Kainan sa Kubo, and many more. Furthermore, you can go trekking at Crater Lake .

And if you have no hurry and want to stay here for the night, you can have a more enjoyable experience here.

5. Meet Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters @ The Pink Sisters Chapel & Convent

The-Pink-Sisters-Chapel-Convent

The Pink Sisters Chapel & Convent is one of the unique chapels in Tagaytay city because of its “Pink Sisters,” who are officially part of the Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration. Their pink habit represents the love and joy of the Holy Spirit.

The German priest Arnold Janssen founded this Chapel with the belief that through the help of the Pink Sisters, God will grant prayers and petitions to those who are seeking it.

Many pilgrims and devotees come here to write their prayers and petitions and leave them in a box so that the Pink Sisters can read them and pray for them.

Note: Remember to maintain the dress code and don’t do anything offensively.

No place is better than a church if you’re looking for spiritual refreshment. So after your day tour at Tagaytay city, if you want to visit some nearby attractions, you can go to Caleruega Church which is located in the nearby town of Nasugbu in Batangas.

This church is one of the most affordable attractions near Tagaytay and is popular for being the perfect wedding venue.

The Caleruega Church is influenced by old Spanish architecture. And its ground is decorated by mesmerising flowers and beautiful butterflies flying around those flowers. The cute scenery of the church will make your trip worthwhile.

Nurture-Wellness-Village

You need no excuse to pamper yourself, and before ending your day trip to Tagaytay city, you’re worthy to get a nurturing spa & massage. In Tagaytay, I don’t think you’ll find any better wellness centre than Nurture Wellness Village .

Even this wellness centre has gained acknowledgment from CNN for being one of the most relaxing spas in Asia. They offer different packages for health and wellness services; you can choose according to your demand and enjoy the relaxing ambience in an Ifugao hut.

10. Take a visit to Sonya’s garden

Sonyas-garden

Sonya’s garden is not located in Tagaytay city, but its popularity compels you to visit this beautiful garden. Basically, it’s a restaurant, but with its increasing popularity, Sonya’s garden now offers services like a spa & massage, wedding venue, accommodation, bakery, souvenir shop, and so on.

The decoration of this garden is so magnificent that you’ll feel like you have transformed into the land of flowers. Bed and Breakfast is the best service that Sonya’s Garden offers to its visitors.

Many guests of this garden come back only to enjoy the Bed and Breakfast service and wake up to the smell of flowers.

Before fishing your Tagaytay day tour, you should visit Sonya’s Garden once at least. Who knows, you may change your mind about going back and staying there for the night.

Address: Barangay Buck Estate, Alfonso, Cavite

Opening hours: Everyday 08:00 am to 06:00 pm

Where & what to eat during the tour

On a day tour, we may know what attractions and activities we can do there, but we often get confused about what to eat and where to eat. And then, because of the lack of knowledge, we end up having a disaster experience with food and eateries.

Don’t worry! I can assure you that I will give you authentic information about the food and eateries of Tagaytay city to make your day trip perfect.

Best coffee @ Bag of Beans

Bag-of-Beans

Because of the cold weather of Tagaytay city, it is natural that you will feel a craving to have a warm cup of coffee. However, you can always get Starbucks coffee there, but if you want the local taste with scenic views of Taal Lake and the volcano, you have to opt for Bag of Beans .

Located along the National Highway, Bag of Beans offers its guests their famous house blend coffee and delicious pancakes. There is no match with their pastries which they offer with the welcome drink. You can include the Bag of Beans in your Tagaytay itinerary for having Breakfast there.

Address: 3WWR+RXC, Ground Floor, Robinsons Summit Ridge, Tagaytay – Nasugbu Hwy, Tagaytay

Business hours: Thursday & Friday 09:00 am to 06:00 pm|Saturday & Sunday 07:00 am to 09:00 pm (closed on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday)

Bulalo @ Mahogany Market

Bulalo

When you’re in Tagaytay, it’s impossible that you haven’t heard the name Bulalo . It’s the most famous dish in Tagaytay city, which is basically a hot bowl of soup with beef (similar to sup tulang in Malaysia ).

Now the question is, where you’ll get the best Bulalo? It’s the Mahogany Market . Though you can have Bulalo anywhere in Tagaytay, only Mahogany Market can give you the authentic taste of Bulalo.

The market has many stalls that sell Bulalo at a low price. Apart from this, Mahogany Market also has a reputation for selling fresh fruits which you can also try.

Address: 10 Mahogany Ave, Tagaytay

Dine @ Nurture Wellness Village

Dine-at-Nurture-Wellness-Village

Here you’ll get all the healthy, fat-free dishes, salads, organic juice, and so on. If you’re health conscious, you have to come here for dining.

Satisfy your sweet tooth @ Rowena’s Pasalubong and Restaurant

Rowenas-Pasalubong-and-Restaurant

Rowena’s Pasalubong and Restaurant is for all of you who have a sweet tooth. From tasty pies and fruitcakes to apple tarts and blueberry tarts, all are available at this restaurant.

The most delightful sweet dish that I personally prefer is the apple tarts. Moreover, you can take some tarts to your home.

Tagaytay Travel Essentials

  • Location : Cavite province, Luzon island just south of Manila
  • Flights : Manila airport is only 45km from Tagaytay, so getting there is very easy.
  • Getting around : Buses will drop you at Olivera Plaza – Tagaytay’s town center. From there, you can take a jeepney or a tricycle to your hotel.
  • Best time to visit : due to the higher altitude, it’s significantly colder and rains are frequent. For the best experience, try and get to Tagaytay during the dry season. The months of June, July and September should generally be avoided. In any case, make sure to bring some warm clothes since temperatures drop at night and it’s quite windy.
  • Attractions : Hiking, 5 star resorts, food, adventure, theme parks and stunning views.

How to get there?

Multiple bus companies run the Manila-Tagaytay line, but the best one is San Augustin. Bus schedule change all the time, and unfortunately, they don’t have a website you check in. We suggest you just contact us and we’ll take care of it for you. You can also rent a van or an airport taxi for the trip, which will cost you between 3 and 4 thousand per direction.

It’s also possible to reach Tagaytay from Batangas which lies directly to the south. There are buses from all major cities – Nasugbu, Lian, Lipa, San Juan, Taal and of course Batangas City itself. If you are staying at one of the towns near Taal lake, taking a jeepney might be easier. Visiting Tagaytay and Taal volcano can easily be done as a day tour during your Batangas vacation.

What to do in Tagaytay?

Tourists usually visit Tagaytay mainly for the trip to Taal volcano, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of other great attractions. The Taal tour can be done in half a day, which leaves you enough time to enjoy everything else Tagaytay has to offer.

Continue reading below to find all the major tourist spots and attractions in Tagaytay. Add any of these to your wishlist and our agents will help build a suitable itinerary. Each tour can be booked separately as well, but booking a package would result in a significant discount.

Taal Volcano Day Tour

Visiting Taal Volcano and swimming in the crater lake are by far the most popular activities. The volcano lies in the middle of Taal lake, and takes approximately 30 minutes to reach by boat. Many agents roam the streets of Tagaytay and try to sell this tour, but booking it on the spot isn’t the best idea. These vendors are trustworthy and will bring you there safely, but you’ll pay more and possibly have to wait as they try and gather more clients.

Instead, you should book the tour through the resort or arrange it yourself. Of course, booking it through us as part of a package would mean you get the best deals and we take care of everything. No matter how you plan your trip, it shouldn’t take more than half a day to complete. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy views and the volcano itself.

Taal volcano day tour from Tagaytay

There are two ways of reaching Taal volcano. The first, and more popular option, is the regular tour departing from Tagaytay. After the standard boat ride you’ll have another 30 minutes hike to the top of mouth of the crater. As you ascend you are greeted by a stunning views of the whole area, and once you reach the top it gets even better. From there, you’ll get the best view of the crater lake which will surly leave you breathless.

This standard option however, doesn’t allow for swimming in the crater lake. The trail ends at a steep cliff, so descending is too dangerous. If you are feeling more adventurous, take the hidden trail called Calauit . The tour takes twice as long to complete (5 hours roughly), and the hike is more challenging. The reward is worth it however, as you’ll get a chance to swim in the sulfuric waters which is a really nice experience.

The waters are perfectly safe, and you can even pay one of the fisherman for a fish to eat! they’ll be happy to grill it on the spot for you. Since this tour takes longer, and a tour guide is required, the price rises accordingly.

Both treks can be done on horseback as well, if you don’t feel like walking in the sun. This option is especially recommended for those taking the regular trail, since there’s no refreshing swim at the end of it. Camping at the crater lake is also very possible, and could be a really fun adventure. If you are considering doing so, speak to us first so we can help you prepare everything you’ll need.

Other Tourist Spots

Tagaytay Picnic Grove

These sites and attractions are geared more towards the local crowd, So you might find them a bit underwhelming. Still, they can provide a nice option for filling up your day in Tagaytay, and are all nice activities for families and couples. So, we’ll provide a short description for each, and if something seems appealing you can always contact us for more information.

Apart from visiting Taal volcano, going to People’s park in the sky would be our most recommend tour. It’s a relatively short drive uphill, so you can just take the jeepney from the town center. Originally named “The palace in the sky” and destined to become a lavish mansion, the site was later transformed into a public park.

Once there, you’ll get a great vantage point from which you can view the whole Tagaytay area. The park isn’t much, with only a few old buildings and not real activities to try. There are a few shops there, where you can buy souvenirs, snacks and drinks. Climb the stairs to the small church’s roof, to get an even clearer viewpoint of your surroundings.

A popular family attraction is visiting Picnic Grove , another hillside location with great views. As the name suggests, this is a large grassy area where people gather for picnic and BBQs. There are also some activities offered on site, such as horseback riding, a zip-line and a cable car. Although none of these are too exciting, the place offers a pretty decent adventure package, which is also child friendly.

The Sky ranch is another activity which could be fun for families. This is a theme park and amusement center, with plenty of rides and activities you can try. If you are a kid at heart, this is also a nice location for couples. There’s definitely a romantic feeling riding the big Ferris wheel and marvel at the panoramic view. Since the theme park is close to most hotels, it shouldn’t be hard to find time for it if you plan on spending the night in Tagaytay.

Nightlife in Tagaytay is quite weak, so your best bet might be visiting the local casino. Although not as spectacular as its Manila counterparts, it can still offer some entertainment and a way to pass the time. As evident by the level of hotels, Tagaytay is a place which attracts wealthy locals. Thanks to that, there are also quite a few good restaurants to try. This could be your chance to try fine cuisine for cheap, and get a taste of the local food – just drop us a mail and we’ll be happy to give a list of restaurants you can choose from.

Could you please quote tour to tagaytay 3 adults + 13 years , Family room 1 night.

Hello! Can you help me plan for a one day tour in tagaytay. We’re 2 people.

Could you please fill out the inquiry form here ? We need more information before we can give a quote.

How much does a day trip to Tagaytay (from Quezon City) usually cost? 3 adults and one 12-year old will be traveling.

Hi Frances!

The price is roughly 2000 PHP per person (40 USD). This includes hotel pickup/ drop off, free lunch buffet, and a guided tour of Taal volcano and Tagaytay ridge.

However, this really depends on your travel dates and availability. The best thing would be to contact us directly through this page and we will send you an exact quote.

Hi! Can I inquire how much would it cost pick up from qc sandigan to tagaytay plus one day tour. No need to drive back to Manila. For 3 persons. Thanks

The usual price for this tour is 2100 Pesos, then you have an extra 500p charge for pickup from Quezon. It makes no difference if you choose to return with the van or not, since we send him there anyway and he has to return to Manila.

Per person?

Yes, of course. Only the additional 500p charge will be divided between the 3 of you.

If you are interested, please contact us through Info (a) philippinestravelpackage.com

Hi! Can I have a quote for the following two adults and one kid please: – Taal Volcano day tour – 1 night hotel accommodation in Tagaytay

Hi Marissa and thanks for the comment.

Can you please fill out the contact form and give us your phone number? We need more information before we can process this request, namely your phone number.

Alexander Tarnoff

Good afternoon, I submitted my contact form requesting an overnight tour from Manila to Tagaytay including transfer, hotel and guide from tomorrow, Friday, 16 March to Saturday, 17 March. Please respond ASAP.

Hi Alexander,

We hope you had a great time on your trip, we were very happy to help!

Thie Armamento

Hello po, I would like to have a quote for Taal Volcano day tour (package tour) for 14 pax. Including the boat ride and any entrance fees po. Excluding na po ang van/land transfers considering na nasa tagaytay na po kami. Date would be on December 23, 2018. Thank you po.

Since you’ll be in Tagaytay already honestly there’s not much point in booking through us.

Our service is more for foreigners who can’t speak Tagalog or just don’t want to deal with the vendors. Or for people who are looking for a complete package along with accommodation and transportation from Manila.

Since you are already there, and you speak the language, you can easily find and book this tour yourself. Just ask your hotel for help or find one of the many touts on the main road, near the bus terminal etc…

Good luck and have fun!

Hi I would like to enquire about the day trip to tagaytay for a group of 6 . (4adults +2 teenagers). Tentative date on 30th June Appreciate your quotation for personal group tour Can the pick up location be at a BGC hotel?

Great facilities. Exceptional staff. ”

It was a given that facilities would be top notch. Everything was clean and orderly. We appreciated the architecture and interior design, which gave an open tropical vibe that was compatible with Philippine weather. The pool was warm. Which we were quite impressed by given the size of the adult pool. What really set Anya Resort apart was the service. The staff was EXCEPTIONAL. Everyone greeted us with a smile. They were all very professional and so quick to accommodate our requests. We truly felt special during our stay. [Samira by Chele Gonzales] Service: 1000000000/10 SUPERB. The staff was cheerful and professional. Special shoutout to Sir Gilbert and Ma’am Mica. Always serving us with a smile and pleasant small talk. They were great at anticipating our needs. From volunteering to take our picture, serving us our food, and asking us if we needed anything. Kulang na lang subuan nila kami 😂 Sir Jay, the bartender, was extra helpful with helping us choose our drinks. Especially for my mom who doesn’t drink alcohol. The drinks he prepared were really yummy and refreshing. Food: 100000/10 We got the Grill Experience. Great value for money. Everything was cooked to the ideal doneness. The surprise star was the pan seared dorado. I’m usually partial to steak, but the fish was so moist and flaky, and was truly a delight. The only “negative” comment I can think of are the serving sizes. My mom and I struggled to finish all the courses 😂 But I guess that’s what makes it super sulit. Ambience: 9.5/10 The interior was nice and romantic. I’m not sure if their set up is open air all year round, but it was a little too warm for our liking. I’m sure the temperature would be lovely in the cool, dry months. Would highly recommend going here for date night, or whenever you feel like you deserve to go out for a treat, especially in the cooler months ths. Would definitely return here with the future hubby :)

Anya Resort Tagaytay Philippines”

We had a pleasant stay at the resort. We use to stay in nice and exclusive places, so initially, I had an impression that Anya Resort is just an ordinary place where we could spend 3-days staycation to celebrate a birthday. However, these are the good points I noted: 1. Primarily, all our orders and even the buffet breakfast taste well, as if there is a good Chef attending to the kitchen. 2. Staff members are disciplined and courteous. 3. The two rooms we stayed at are clean, and since the resort is located at Tagaytay, the weather is cool while the air breeze is fresh given the surrounding greens. I am especially thankful to the reception/front desk when they gave due consideration to my parents aged 83 & 85, as they changed the previously tagged room to put us in a more convenient area for senior's accessibility. The only setback I noted in the Resort is if you get assigned to Villas (10 - 12) located at the far end, where the view at the side/back is forest like. Generally, if you get assigned in the good Villas, the stay is very pleasant.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you very much for sharing with us this review, we are happy to know you had a good stay with us. I have noted your comments in general and I really appreciate it. I hope to welcome you soon. kind regards, Mikel Arriet General Manager

Kid-Friendly with Exceptional Service”

My stay at Anya Resorts Tagaytay with my husband and toddler daughter was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff surprised us with thoughtful details that made our stay incredibly memorable. The resort offered a variety of fun activities for our toddler, including swimming in the heated pool, engaging in arts and crafts, and even making pizza. These activities kept her entertained and happy throughout our stay. The stellar service provided by the staff was truly outstanding. They were attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with a smile. One of the highlights for me was the relaxing massage I enjoyed at Niyama Wellness Spa. It was the perfect way to unwind and rejuvenate. Anya Resort Tagaytay provided a wonderful and unforgettable experience for our family, and we can't wait to return.

Pricey staycation place in Tagaytay”

Finally had the chance to stay at this resort. For the price they are asking, you would expect everything will be worry free. Unfortunately the junior suite that we stayed in had faulty plumbing (no cold water, only hot water coming out) and defective Cignal satellite tv reception (the broadcast freezes after several seconds). Unfortunately staff were not able to fix both during our 3d/2n stay which was disappointing. Breakfast option was very good. Swimming pool was clean and relaxing too. Most of the staff were attentive to our needs. Operator and social media chat response needs improvement though. Parking and golf cart service drivers provided excellent service! If you have the money to spend then this is a nice option to stay in Tagaytay. Quiet and relaxing.

Memorable and Great Stay”

My husband and I stayed in Anya Resort, Junior King Suite after our wedding. As someone who's a bit of an OC, I particularly chose this place because of its reviews about being clean and it did not disappoint. The room felt luxurious and the place had great facilities (e.g. archery, badminton, spa, etc.). We also tried their fine dining experience at Samira and we enjoyed the food. The staff were also friendly and accommodating. We will definitely go back.

Since traveling can be expensive, it is important to balance these mentioned factors to create a peaceful and relaxing experience. On one hand, if you’re more of an outgoing person, then I suggest looking for quality but cheap hotels in Tagaytay since you will be able to maximize your experience by going to malls, parks, and restaurants.

Given that you will spend most of your time outside, choosing an expensive hotel might not be the smart thing to do. On the other hand, if you’re inclined to stay indoors, then I recommend choosing a hotel with luxurious amenities such as swimming pools, gyms, and restaurants.

TAGAYTAY TRAVEL GUIDE with Sample Itinerary & Budget

TAGAYTAY TRAVEL GUIDE with Sample Itinerary & Budget

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double-check with the concerned establishments for the latest updates.

Long before Manila-dwellers began a long-distance affair with the highlands of Baguio, Sagada and Kalinga, they have been in a long-standing romance with Tagaytay. It’s not a high-maintenance relationship. The physical connection is there. It is geographically close, easily accessible, and it doesn’t demand too much time or money. It’s the kind that will last over more decades.

Tagaytay is no stranger to me. I live in a Batangas town not too far away from Tagaytay. For the longest time, every time I would come back home, the van that I was riding would drive through the city. And since I started earning on my own, it would be my go-to place for clarity or peace of mind. And I’m not alone in this.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

UNDERSTANDING TAGAYTAY

Located just around 60km from Manila, Tagaytay City has always been the go-to destination for those wishing to escape the searing heat of the capital, especially in the summer season. They come here for two reasons: a cooler climate and a breathtaking view of Taal Lake and Volcano.

Most people think that Taal Volcano is the small cratered hill on one end of the island in the middle of the lake often depicted in postcards and photographs. The truth is, that is Binintiang Malaki , just one of the volcano’s many cones and craters. Taal Lake itself was actually the caldera of an enormous ancient volcano formed after cataclysmic eruptions in the prehistoric times. The only active part now is that island in the middle of the lake called Volcano Island .

Like a giant balcony with a fantastic view, Tagaytay is perched on the northern ridges of Taal Lake, attracting thousands of vacationers and supporting its massive tourism industry. Its highways and inner alleys are lined with a wide array of accommodations, from luxury villas to budget hotels, and restaurants, ranging from fine dining to its homegrown fast food places.

day tour resorts in tagaytay

Tagaytay is also a great base for travelers who wish to explore neighboring municipalities like Alfonso and Amadeo, and even parts of Batangas like the volcano itself, Nasugbu, and Lemery.

Tagaytay takes a rectangular shape on the map, so it’s easy to navigate. At the very center of it is the Tagaytay Rotonda, from which stems out four main roads:

day tour resorts in tagaytay

  • Emilio Aguinaldo Highway , which connects Tagaytay to Imus, Dasmarinas, and Manila.
  • Tagaytay-Calamba Road , which links the city to the towns of Laguna. If you’re coming from South Luzon Express Way (SLEX), you’ll eventually hit this road going to Tagaytay.
  • Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway , which can take you to Alfonso (Cavite) and Nasugbu and Lemery (Batangas).
  • Tagaytay-Talisay Road , which cuts across a forested slope to Talisay (Batangas), where Taal Volcano is located.

Being familiar with these roads will make your travel planning a lot easier, especially when picking a hotel and places to visit.

Here are more useful bits about Tagaytay.

  • Language: Tagalog is used by most. But English is widely understood and spoken.
  • Currency: Philippine peso (PHP, ₱). PHP100 is around USD 1.90, EUR 1.69, SGD 2.57 (as of April 2019).
  • Modes of payment: Credit cards are accepted by many establishments but CASH is still king (and queen) in Tagaytay.
  • Electricity Info: 220V, 60Hz. Plug and socket Type A.

WHERE TO STAY IN TAGAYTAY

In places like El Nido or Batanes, I usually don’t mind staying in a guest house with no view and no frills because I would be spending much of my time outside anyway. But Tagaytay is one of those destinations where accommodations can make or break a trip. It’s all about the ambience and the experience. Whether you’re visiting Tagaytay to unwind, attend a conference, or have a romantic weekend, it is important to consider the location.

Best Area to Stay in Tagaytay

Tagaytay has become a major tourist magnet that it has become almost synonymous with this corner of Cavite. Property-owners often market and label their hotels, lodges or guesthouses “Tagaytay” even when they are technically located in surrounding municipalities like Alfonso, Silang, and Mendez. Try to keep that in mind when searching for a place to stay.

For tourists, there are three main areas that are great bases when exploring Tagaytay and nearby towns:

  • Tagaytay Rotonda Area. Often casually referred to as simply Olivarez. It is the center of the city. As explained above, the major roads running across the city start or end here. It is surrounded by countless lodging and dining options. It is also the main transportation hub.
  • Along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway. This is a little bit farther than the Rotonda area, but this has the best view of the lake and the volcano, provided that you book a hotel on the lakeside. This is also where SkyRanch and Ayala Malls Serin are located.
  • Along Tagaytay-Calamba Road. This area is closest to tourist spots like Tagaytay Picnic Grove and People’s Park in the Sky. Lots of restaurant and hotel options too, with some also offering a good view of the lake.

Personally, I like staying along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road because it’s a lot quieter and has the best view of the lake. If you don’t trust my word, here are the top budget hotels in Tagaytay as scored by Agoda users.

Top Budget Hotels and BnBs in Tagaytay

The best hotels in Tagaytay are expensive, but there are some exceptions. Bed-and-breakfast places also offer a great alternative. Here’s a list compiled using Agoda reviews.

Top Apartments and Condo for Rent in Tagaytay

If budget is an issue, then ditch the hotel and consider staying at a BnB, guesthouse, or apartment for rent, which are significantly cheaper. There’s been a considerable number of condo units for rent at Wind Residences (SMDC) along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway and Tagaytay Prime Residences near Rotonda. Here are the top rated apartments/condo units on Agoda.

HOW TO GET TO TAGAYTAY

Manila to tagaytay by bus.

day tour resorts in tagaytay

You can catch a bus to Tagaytay at the following terminals.

  • Uniwide Coastal Mall in Paranaque. Make your way to the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), also called South West Integrated Provincial Terminal. Board a bus bound for Tagaytay, Mendez (neighboring town), or Nasugbu. This bus will be taking Emilio Aguinaldo Highway.
  • DLTB Terminal at LRT Buendia area (near LRT Gil Puyat Station), Pasay City. Board the bus bound for either Nasugbu or Calatagan. This will be taking South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Carmona Exit and will pass through Tagaytay.

Fare: Around P87. Travel time is 2-3 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Might be much longer during rush hour.

Some important reminders.

  • DO NOT TAKE THE BUS TO LEMERY. Lemery-bound buses take the SLEX + STAR Toll. It doesn’t pass through Tagaytay. Buses are not allowed to take Diokno Highway, which connects Tagaytay and Lemery. I know this because I’m from Lemery and our house is very close to Diokno Highway.
  • If your hotel is located along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway and you’re on a Nasugbu or Calatagan bus, you don’t need to get off at Olivarez or Rotonda. You can stay in the bus and tell the conductor to drop you off at the hotel.
  • If you’re going to SkyRanch or Wind Residences , there’s a big chance the bus will not really pass by either even if the driver or conductor says so. Most buses take Mahogany Avenue, which bypasses a section of Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway approaching Mendez. Instead, they will drop you off at the Petron Gas Station. That’s okay, though, because it’s within walking distance. (SkyRanch is a longer walk but very manageable.) SEE MAP BELOW.

day tour resorts in tagaytay

Manila to Tagaytay by Van

You can also ride a shared van to Tagaytay. Vans bound for Nasugbu, Calatagan or Lemery pass through Tagaytay. You can find one at the following places.

  • Starmall EDSA-Shaw. You’ll find vans bound for Lemery at the terminal in front of the mall, along EDSA.
  • Alabang. There are vans bound for Tagaytay at Festival Mall Alabang, near the Goldilocks exit. (I haven’t tried it, though.) In addition, there used to be vans bound for Lemery dispatched from the parking area of Starmall Alabang. But they already moved to the area behind the mall, near the ukay-ukay area and PNR Train counter. The number of available vans and passengers has been dwindling so you might be in for quite the wait.
  • Metropoint Mall. I’m not sure if there are still vans here going to Calatagan. There used to be, but I haven’t checked in a long time. If there still is, you can take the van going to Calatagan. If vans no longer operate here, you can cross to the other side of EDSA and catch a bus to Calatagan instead.

Whatever you take, tell the driver to drop you off in Tagaytay.

Fare is P180-P200, depending on which part of Manila you’re originating. It’s pricier because vans behave like point-to-point shuttles. Even though you’re alighting in Tagaytay, you’re still paying for the full journey. A passenger getting off in Tagaytay pays the same as another getting off in Batangas.

Important reminders:

  • If you’re taking a van to Lemery, tell the driver to drop you off in Tagaytay. Unlike their bus counterparts, Lemery-bound vans usually pass through Tagaytay. However, there are instances when the driver chooses to take the SLEX-STAR Tollway route. It usually happens when there is heavy traffic in Tagaytay/Santa Rosa areas. To be sure, let the driver know that your destination is Tagaytay so he won’t take any detour.
  • Vans don’t follow any fixed schedule. The vehicle will NOT leave the terminal unless it is full. If you’re in a hurry and there’s only one vacant seat, you can pay for it and the driver will gladly start the journey. If time is of the essence and there are a lot of empty seats, take the bus instead.

HOW TO GET AROUND TAGAYTAY

There are no taxis in Tagaytay, and Grab doesn’t have any presence either. There are only three modes of transportation available:

  • Jeepney. When traveling within the city, the most usual way is by jeepney. From Olivarez/Rotonda, you can take a jeepney to any direction. You can also ride one from any point along the highway back to the city center. Minimum fare is P9, which increases as you go father.
  • Bus. You can also take the bus if you’re coming from Rotonda area and going to Mendez, Alfonso, Nasugbu or any destination along Nasugbu-Tagaytay Highway.
  • Tricycle. This is the closest thing to a taxi that you can get. You can charter a tricycle to take you straight to your destination. When I asked, “special trips” within the city cost P100. Special, meaning you won’t be sharing the tricycle with anyone else. But if you’re going to the city center, you can pay the per-person charge, which should be around P20. Maybe higher or lower, depending on distance.

THINGS TO DO IN TAGAYTAY & NEARBY TOWNS

Taal volcano.

UPDATE! Taal Volcano recently erupted and is closed to the public.

day tour resorts in tagaytay

Tagaytay offers the best views of Taal Volcano. But you know what’s better than admiring it from afar? Being on the volcano itself. From Tagaytay, you can travel to the Batangan town of Talisay, where you can charter a boat that can take you to the volcano island. Once there, you’ll start your trek to the breathtaking caldera. Good if you’re a group so you could split the expenses.

How to get there: From Tagaytay, you can charter a tricycle to take you to Talisay for P150-200. Then, find a boat, which costs P2000 (maximum of 6 pax). It’s also possible to reach Talisay by jeepney, but I don’t have the details.

I’m not fully familiar with this route, to be honest. I’ve been to Taal Volcano and hiked to its main caldera before, but I didn’t come from Tagaytay. I went straight to Talisay via Tanauan.

SkyRanch Tagaytay

day tour resorts in tagaytay

SkyRanch is a relatively new attraction in Tagaytay. Perched on a cliff, overlooking the lake, this is an amusement park built for the enjoyment of the whole family. There are rides for kids and activities for the kids-at-heart. The most arresting structure is the SkyEye , a 63-meter ferris wheel with 32 gondolas. It’s also lined with restaurants and food kiosks!

Hours open Monday-Friday, 10am-10pm Saturday-Sunday, 8am-10pm

Entrance Fee Weekdays: P80 Weekends: P100

Here are the attractions at SkyRanch and the corresponding admission fees.

SkyEye: P150 Super Viking: P100 Flying Bus: P100 Sky Cruiser: P100 Log Coaster: P100 Safari Splash: P120 Bumper Boat: P100 Bumper Race: P100 Drop Tower: P100 Express Train: P80 City Rail: P80 Mini Viking: P50 Racing Car: P50 Nessie Coaster: P50 Wonder Flight: P50 Red Baron: P50 Boat Parade: P50 Toy Swing: P50

How to get there: From Olivarez, ride a jeepney bound for Mendez or Nasugbu. Get off at Sky Ranch. Fare is around P15.

Tagaytay Picnic Grove

day tour resorts in tagaytay

Another family-friendly park in Tagaytay. For the longest time, this was the go-to place for relaxation, but a lot has changed (or have not changed) over the years. More attractions like the zipline and cable car ride were introduced, which are great for families. I personally think the park itself has lost its main appeal. But check it out regardless.

Entrance fee: P50

Parking Fee: P35, cars; P50, vans or jeepneys.

Zipline & Cable Car Rates: Weekdays: 1-way ride, P200; 2-way ride, P300. Weekend/Holidays: 1-way ride, P300; 2-way ride, P400.

Hut/Cottage Rental: P100, P150, P300, P500

Operating hours: 7am-7pm

People’s Park in the Sky

It used to be known as Palace in the Sky. Built under Marcos in 1979, it was supposed to be a guest house for visiting US President Ronald Reagan. But due to turning political tides back then, the “palace” was not finished and the visit cancelled. After the EDSA revolution, the name changed to People’s Park in the Sky.

Today, it hasn’t been well-maintained but remains a top attraction in Tagaytay because of the fantastic vista. After all, it stands at the highest point of Tagaytay, allowing a 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape.

How to get there: From Olivarez, charter a tricycle for P150 for special trip or P50 per person.

Puzzle Mansion

Puzzle-lovers unite! The Puzzle Mansion in Tagaytay’s Barangay Asisan houses the world’s largest collection of jigsaw puzzles — all 1028 pieces of them — as certified by the Guiness Book of World Records. This was owned by Georgina Gil-Lacuna who collected these puzzles from her travels.

Entrance fee: P100

Hours open: 8am-5pm

How to get there: From Olivarez/Rotonda, ride a jeepney bound for Alfonso or Nasugbu. Get off at Brgy. Asisan. You can tell the driver to drop you off at the corner going to Puzzle Mansion. Fare: P15. Then hail a tricycle to take you to Puzzle House. Fare: P100.

day tour resorts in tagaytay

Caleruega is located in Nasugbu, Batangas, but it is easily accessible from Tagaytay. The place got its name from the municipality of Caleruega in Spain, the birthplace of the father of the Order of the Preachers, Saint Dominic de Guzman. It was built to serve as a venue for contemplation, but has made a name for itself over the years as one of the most well-known wedding venues in the country. It also harbors well-maintained retreat houses and well-manicured gardens.

How to get there: At Olivarez/Rotonda, take the jeepney bound for Nasugbu and tell the driver to drop you off at Hillcrest/Evercrest. Fare: P25. From KC Hillcrest entrance, hail a tricycle to Caleruega Chapel. Fare: P50.

Fantasy World

day tour resorts in tagaytay

Fantasy World is an unfinished theme park project in the middle of the rolling hills of Lemery, Batangas. (Yep, it’s in Lemery!) Although the construction was halted, they were able to build the castle, which was the park’s centerpiece.

Over the past years, it has become a filming location for movies like Got 2 Believe (starring Claudine Barretto and Rico Yan) and Fantastica (Vice Ganda) and TV shows like GMA 7’s Majika (Angel Locsin, Dennis Trillo).

The rides are not operational, but the park and the castle remains Instagram-worthy. It’s a favorite prenup spot too.

Entrance fee: P100 per person. This used to be P1000 for a group of 10, but this has been changed in November 2019.

How to get there: From Olivarez, ride a jeepney or bus to Boundary (Cavite-Batangas boundary). Fare: P25 for jeepney, P39 for bus. At the boundary, ride a jeepney bound for Lemery and ask to be dropped off in front of Fantasy World. Fare: P18. If there are no jeepneys, you can take a tricycle but it’s pricey. Fare is P200 per ride (not per person).

Tip: There is a cafe nearby called “ Brewed For You .” If you’re visiting around lunch time or you just get hungry, you can stop by and have a bowl of Batangas lomi (P100) and a cup of kapeng barako (P40).

Tagaytay Food Trip

One of the things my cousins and I used to do when we were kids was count the number of restaurants when we were passing through Tagaytay. Many of them are standing strong to this day. From local bulaluhan to western restaurants to food parks to fast food chains, there’s no shortage of dining places in Tagaytay.

Leslie’s and Josephine Restaurant are two local favorites for families. Don’t forget to order a bowl of sinful bulalo! If you’re celebrating something special or you’re simply after ambiance and elegance, there’s Antonio’s Restaurant and Sonya’s Garden (farther in Alfonso).

Bag of Beans has also made a name for themselves for their generous servings of scrumptious dishes. Aside from their main branch along Mendez Crossing, they have five other branches now including one at Summit Ridge (near Robinson’s Supermarket and SM Wind Residences) and one near Silang Crossing (Athena). Try their roast beef!

day tour resorts in tagaytay

There budget-friendly places too. Mushroom Burger is the first that comes to mind. It’s a fast-food-style resto featuring mushrooms as their main ingredients. If you’re staying along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, you can easily get here. If you’re coming from SkyRanch, it’s just a 10-minute walk away.

SAMPLE TAGAYTAY ITINERARY

Below is a sample overnight Tagaytay itinerary, good for a weekend. It assumes you’re a party of two, splitting some of the costs and taking public transportation from Manila.

DAY 1: CALERUEGA & FANTASY WORLD 05:00 am – Bus to KC Hillcrest (Nasugbu), P130 08:00 am – Tricycle to Caleruega, P25 (P50/2pax) 08:15 am – Caleruega Entrance Fee, P30 10:30 am – Tricycle to Boundary, P50 11:30 am – Jeepney to Fantasy World, P18 12:00 pm – Lunch at Brewed For You Coffee Shop, P300 01:00 pm – Fantasy World, P100 03:00 pm – Jeepney back to Boundary, P18 03:30 pm – Bus to Tagaytay, P39 04:30 pm – Hotel check in, rest 06:30 pm – Dinner, P200

DAY 2: SKYRANCH & PICNIC GROVE 07:30 am – Early check out 08:00 am – Jeepney to Picnic Grove 08:30 am – Picnic Grove, P50 09:00 am – Zipline, P300 10:30 am – Jeepney to Olivarez 10:45 am – Jeepney to Mushroom Burger 11:00 am – Lunch at Mushroom Burger, P150 12:00 pm – Walk to SkyRanch 12:15 pm – SkyRanch, Budget: P500 03:00 pm – Jeepney to Olivarez 04:00 pm – Bus back to Manila, P87

If you spend P2400 on accommodations (P1200 per person), the itinerary above will set you back around P3400 (USD 67, SGD 90, EUR 60) per person, with some allowance for incidental expenses.

Note that the bulk of the cost is the zipline, which costs P300 on weekdays and P400 on weekends. If you’re not interested in this, you can skip this too.

If you decide to skip Fantasy World and Zipline, the total cost will be pushed down to only around P2800 (USD 54, SGD 73, EUR 48) per person.

If you want to keep track of your expenses when traveling around Tagaytay, download the LISTA app! It’s a mobile app that will help you watch your spending so you know you’re not going over your set budget and avoid running short of funds! It was originally meant for small businesses, but guess what? Travelers can use it, too!

All you need to do is enter how much budget you have for the trip and as you explore, type your expenses. The app will do the rest. It will tell you how much you still have left. It works offline so no internet connection needed.

LISTA App Expenses Savings Tagaytay

Another key feature is the SAVINGS CHALLENGE! Using the LISTA app, you can set a target amount and the frequency you’re comfortable with so you know when you’re financially ready to make your next Tagaytay getaway happen!

Any more helpful detailed instructions other than “van terminal near the station” for LRT Gil Puyat? Would like to find that FX terminal. (By the way, no signs for visiting commuters that says LRT Buendia, just LRT “Gil Puyat”.) Second question: do you know that the DLTB terminal there is still running services from that terminal to Tagaytay, and have not been moved to PITX?

Yosh Dimen

Hi! We checked again today and found that there are no longer vans bound for Lemery near the LRT station. But the DLTB bus terminal still operates there.

We’ll update the post accordingly.

Thanks so much for checking that question about Tagaytay transport from around LRT Gul Puyat.

Suspect in killing of Australian couple David Fisk and Lucita Cortez in Philippines surrenders

Officials say the suspect in the killing of Australian couple David James Fisk and Lucita Barquin Cortez has surrendered.

Police say the breakthrough came when the suspect, who used to work as a swimming pool cleaner at the hotel, was identified by at least three hotel employees.

What's next?

Police allege the suspect "wanted to get back at the hotel management for his dismissal".

The suspect in the killings of Australian couple David James Fisk and Lucita Barquin Cortez and their Filipina companion at a luxury resort in the Philippines has surrendered.

The bodies of the couple, along with that of Lucita's daughter-in-law Mary Jane Cortez, were found face down with their hands and feet tied at the Lake Hotel in Tagaytay city, south of Manila, a week ago.

Tagaytay police chief Lieutenant Colonel Charles Daven Capagcuan said the suspect used to work as a swimming pool cleaner at the hotel.

"He wanted to get back at the hotel management for his dismissal," Lieutenant Colonel Capagcuan alleged.

The couple stand holding a koala

Lieutenant Colonel Capagcuan said the breakthrough in the week-old case came when at least three hotel employees identified the suspect using an image captured by security cameras showing part of his masked face.

The identification of the suspect eventually led to his home province of Batangas, near Tagaytay, where he decided to surrender, Lieutenant Colonel Capagcuan said.

Mr Capagcuan presented the handcuffed suspect — wearing a hoodie, dark eyeglasses and a face mask — at a news conference.

suspect being led out

The mayor of Tagaytay city Abraham Tolentino repeated his apology to the relatives of the victims and to Australia for the "brutal crimes" that took place in his city.

The suspect allegedly acknowledged he took the watch and shoes of Mr Fisk after attacking him with a knife and suffocating his partner and her Filipina daughter-in-law.

Lieutenant Colonel Capagcuan said officials planned to file criminal complaints of robbery in addition to those for the killings.

Mr Tolentino said the bodies of the female victims would be buried in their family's home province in the Philippines while the remains of Mr Fisk were flown to Sydney, on Tuesday, local time.

Mayor told police to solve case or step down

The Tagaytay city mayor had been pushing for results, keen to reassure locals and tourists alike that their usually peaceful town was still safe.

On Saturday, local time, Mr Tolentino issued an ultimatum to the chief of police: Solve the case soon or step down.

"To our Australian friends, we are pleased to present to you the main suspect in this brutal crime and, as promised, within a week we will resolve and give justice, especially to the family of David," he said following the breakthrough.

A sign with a love heart and lake hotel

Couple were supposed to fly to Australia the day they were killed

The Filipino son of Lucia Barquin Cortez has come forward, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was fearful after what happened to his mother and given the suspect remained at large at that time.

He said the Australian couple was supposed to fly back to Australia on July 10, the day they were killed, but decided to briefly take a vacation in Tagaytay.

Two police officers

Police at the time said it was a rare and heinous crime in a tourism destination that was largely known for a scenic volcano nestled amid a lake, abundant tropical fruits and the hospitality of its people.

Famed Mirage in Vegas, in last day, slated to rise again in 2027 as Hard Rock Las Vegas

July 17, 2024 / 6:54 AM EDT / CBS/AP

Las Vegas — The Mirage is about to vanish from the Las Vegas Strip.

Gambling ends and the doors close Wednesday at the iconic tropical island-themed hotel-casino that opened in 1989 with a fire-spewing volcano outside and Siegfried & Roy's lions and dolphins inside.

Frenzied final days have seen standing-room crowds wagering to win $1.6 million in slot machine progressive jackpot winnings that state regulations say have to be disbursed before the lights go out and a massive transformation of the property begins.

Mirage Resort Closure Hard Rock

Guest rooms are already empty. The Beatles-themed Cirque du Soleil show "Love" ended its 18-year run earlier this month. When gamblers are gone, only memories will remain of former casino mogul Steve Wynn's hotel that revolutionized the casino resort industry.

"Las Vegas always reinvents itself," said Michael Green, a University of Nevada, Las Vegas history professor whose father dealt blackjack for decades at casinos, including the long-ago-imploded Stardust and Showboat. "The Mirage is no longer state-of-the-art."

New operators Hard Rock International and Florida-based Seminole Gaming plan to add 600 rooms to an existing 3,044 in a bright new guitar-shaped hotel where the sidewalk-side volcano rumbled and gushed nightly. Renderings depict guitar string-like beams spiking into the night sky from a purplish 660-foot tower.

"The Mirage was a transcendent property, changing the landscape of Las Vegas," said Joe Lupo, president of The Mirage who will stay on at the new resort. "We are confident that Hard Rock Las Vegas will do the same in 2027."

There won't be a demolition spectacle like the now-shuttered Tropicana casino-hotel several blocks down the Strip. That 22-story property is slated to be dynamited sometime later this year and replaced before 2028 by a baseball stadium to serve as the home field of the relocated MLB Oakland A's.

At ceremonies Wednesday, some of the 127 employees who've been at The Mirage since it opened planned to mark its end with Lupo; Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming; and Alan Feldman, a longtime MGM Resorts casino executive who's now a fellow at the gambling institute at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Feldman was Wynn's first publicist at the new resort.

Locals and tourists gathered Tuesday night to watch the iconic Mirage Volcano erupt for the last time before The Mirage closes, CBS Las Vegas affiliate KLA-TV reported .

Mirage Resort Closure Hard Rock

"It's unbelievably different from anything you could possibly see anywhere on earth unless you are from Hawaii," Las Vegas resident John Davidson told the station.

Davidson, who's been coming to The Mirage for years, said it's "kind of sad, we came to a show last week and it was one of the last ones. We will miss many things about The Mirage, but I know something good is coming."

Mirage was Vegas game-changer

"The doors opened to a crush of humanity and it stayed like that for days," Feldman recalled in an interview. "It's hard to capture what The Mirage changed. One of the things was that Las Vegas became more than Elvis, showgirls, round beds and gambling."

Costing $630 million, it was no simple gambling hall. It was the world's largest hotel at the time. Guests were met by a faint piña colada scent and two bronze mermaid statues on the way to check in at a desk with a huge shark and reef fish tank behind it.

It had glitzy shops, celebrity chef restaurants and theater-sized showrooms featuring headliners like Johnny Mathis, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

"Instead of neon, a garden of dozens of rich Canary Island palm trees and a cool refreshing waterfall," Wynn recalled in a statement released Monday through his Las Vegas attorney, Donald Campbell. Wynn titled it "An Homage to Lady Mirage."

Amid competition from casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and the expansion of tribal gambling in California, Wynn noted that The Mirage was the first new hotel to be built in Las Vegas in years. Its completion ushered in a virtual doubling of the resort capacity over the next decade - more than 30,000 hotel rooms - making Las Vegas one of the fastest growing cities in America.

"To call The Mirage a catalyst would be an understatement," Wynn wrote.

By 2000, new resorts included Excalibur, Luxor, Treasure Island, MGM Grand, New York-New York, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Venetian and Paris Las Vegas. Many were funded by Wall Street bonds. Wynn bought and demolished the 50-year-old Desert Inn to build and open his eponymous Wynn Resort in 2005.

Wynn, now 82 and living in Florida, paid a $10 million fine to Nevada gambling regulators last year and cut ties with the industry he helped shape to end a yearslong legal fight stemming from media reports in 2018 that he sexually harassed or assaulted several women at his hotels. He has always denied the allegations against him.

Feldman recalled that the design of The Mirage made it "an unusual and unexpected place, where people wondered, 'How do you have all this in the middle of the desert?'"

Bo Bernhard, director of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas International Gaming Institute, studies the emergence of what he terms the "fun economy" around the world. He said The Mirage gave Las Vegas an exportable product, like cars from Detroit, and set a standard for resort development in places like Singapore and Sydney.

The Seminole Tribe acquired the Hard Rock brand in 2007 and is the first Native American operator in the lucrative and competitive Las Vegas Boulevard corridor. The tribe also operates seven casinos in Florida and owns the Hard Rock Hotel & Casinos business with locations in 76 countries. It purchased naming rights in 2016 to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

An off-Strip former Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas was separately owned. A group that included billionaire Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, acquired that hotel-casino in 2018 from a Toronto investment giant for around $500 million. It was renovated and reopened in 2021 as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
