How Do You Pick a Travel Baseball Team Name?

Choosing the perfect travel baseball team name is an exciting yet challenging task. It’s a name that will represent your team’s spirit, ambition, and identity throughout the season and possibly beyond. When selecting a name, consider factors that resonate with your team’s values, location, and unique characteristics. A good starting point is to brainstorm with your team members to gather a wide range of ideas. Reflect on the themes and categories listed above, such as animal inspiration, mythical creatures, or professions, to spark creativity.

After compiling a list of potential names, evaluate them based on a few key criteria. Firstly, consider the originality of the name. It should stand out and differentiate your team from others. Next, think about the relevance; the name should reflect your team’s character or an aspect that you collectively identify with. Also, factor in the name’s longevity — a timeless name ensures that it remains fitting and impactful over time.

Don’t forget to check for any trademarks or existing usage of the names you’re considering. This step is crucial to avoid legal issues and ensure the uniqueness of your team’s identity. Finally, it’s important to gauge the overall team’s reaction to the proposed names. A name that excites and gets a unanimous or majority vote from team members is likely the right choice.

By carefully considering these aspects and involving your team in the decision-making process, you can select a name that embodies your team’s ethos and sets the stage for a memorable and successful season.

Baseball Team Name Generator

How to create your own baseball team name.

A great baseball team name might include a punny reference to the game, an animal mascot, or an intimidating and powerful mantra.

It’s all about finding the perfect fit for your particular team — which may require you to create your own baseball team name.

Keep the following tips in mind while brainstorming:

  • Take input from your teammates. The decision of the perfect baseball team name shouldn’t be left to one person. After all, as the saying goes, “teamwork makes the dream work!” Take name ideas from your teammates and ask them what type of name they’d like. Do they want a traditional, mascot-based name like “Supernovas” or something totally unique?
  • Get inspiration from the sport. What do you love most about baseball? Make a shortlist to get inspiration for your team name. For example, if your favorite thing about it is the fond memories you have of watching games at the ballpark, you might go for a fun option like “The Pretzel Peddlers” (referencing the popular ballpark snack).
  • Brand your team. Your name is your team’s identity, so you should consider the brand you want to build for your team. Do you want to be seen as a fun and energetic team, one that takes the game very seriously, or one that could bat with the best of ’em? Choosing the right tone for your name will help you promote your team to potential fans and supporters.

The Ultimate Guide to Travel Baseball

A youth baseball team in black and orange uniforms stand together holding a banner in front of them.

Here at Ballparks of America , we love travel baseball. And we’re not alone. Over the last 20 years, youth travel baseball has become increasingly popular. Take the All-American Wood Bat Classic as an example. During the first year of the tournament, in 2000, around a dozen teams signed up to play. In 2014, nearly 100 teams attended the tournament .

Joining a travel baseball team has lots of advantages. Kids can become better ballplayers, make friends, and get to experience travel. However, it’s also a large financial and time commitment. And there’s a lot that goes into joining a team.

To help you understand the world of travel baseball, our team has put together a guide that covers the following topics.

What is travel baseball?

How to join a travel baseball team, how to choose a travel baseball team, how to start your own travel baseball team, what are the benefits of travel baseball, what is the downside of travel baseball, how do travel baseball tournaments work, how much does it cost to play travel baseball, how many games are played in a season, what to expect at travel baseball tryouts.

Also referred to as elite, club, select, and premier, travel baseball is an organized form of baseball characterized by competitive play and—you guessed it—travel. It is often seen as an intermediary step between Little League and high school baseball play. Travel baseball has also increasingly become the standard for elite youth players hoping to continue their baseball career in college or on a professional level. The typical age requirements vary by the organization but can range from 6 to 18 years old.

Unlike Little League, which typically has weekly, local games, travel baseball mostly consists of weekend tournament play. However, there are some leagues that cater specifically to elite baseball teams.

There is no singular governing organization in travel baseball. Rather, there are several organizations and facilities that host tournaments with varying criteria. Some of the dominating travel baseball organizations include Triple Crown Sports , Perfect Game , Untied States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

As we mentioned above, competitive play is a defining characteristic of travel ball. Travel baseball teams do not have open registration, but instead, players are required to try out for a travel team. Therefore, a team could be made up of players from all over the state, region, and—in some cases—the country. Typically only the most competitive teams have players from all over the country.

So you’ve decided travel baseball is something you want to pursue for yourself or your child. Now what? There are two ways to play travel baseball, join a team or start your own team .

There are several ways to find a travel baseball team. Start with a simple Google search, “travel baseball teams near me.” Another good option is to check out the large organizations listed above. You can also look on Facebook for travel baseball teams. Don’t forget to search for the alternative names (select baseball, elite baseball, club baseball, premier baseball, etc). Finally, you can check out FieldLevel . FieldLevel is a website that lets you search over 105,000 travel teams by location, age level, and skill level. Once you find a team you’re interested in joining, you’ll need to try out. Coaches typically hold tryouts in March, around the time local schools have spring break.

Depending on where you live and how far you’re willing to travel, there could be several teams to choose from. When faced with a decision of which team to join, there are several factors to take into consideration.

Cost can vary from team to team, depending on how much and how far the team travels. Be sure that the team you choose fits within your budget.

As coaches will have a large impact on the development of a player, you want to be sure to work with coaches that have the right skills, knowledge, and experience. You also want to make sure the coach won’t play favorites with players. This can especially be a concern if the coach has a child on the team.

Although travel baseball tends to be competitive by nature, there are varying levels of competitiveness within the field. If a player is very serious about their development, they’ll want to be playing with teammates and against teams that are performing at a high level. And the opposite is true as well. If a player is not as serious, they might be frustrated playing on a highly-competitive team.

It doesn’t matter how competitive a team is if a player doesn’t get playing time. Travel ball teams typically have 13 players on them. It’s not advantageous to be the 13th best player on a team, because you won’t get very much (if any) playing time. And playing time is important for development and exposure.

One of the main reasons players sign up for travel ball is to eventually go on to play baseball at college or in the pros. Therefore, you want a team that has a strong development program and practices regularly.

Different teams travel different amounts, and it’s important that the amount fits in with the player’s schedule and the player’s family’s schedule.

If your goal as a player is to play in college or go pro, then it’s important to get adequate exposure. To do this, your team needs to play in the right tournaments where scouts will have the opportunity to see you play.

  • Find a mentor
  • Recruit players
  • Hold tryouts
  • Determine a budget
  • Find a space to play
  • Register your team with the travel baseball organizations

Tougher Competition

Travel baseball allows kids to play with and against the best players in the area, state, or—in some cases—the country. This can drastically improve their game.

Travel Opportunities

Getting to visit locations like Branson, Missouri for a vacation and baseball experience is a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Families can experience a traveling together and enjoying competitive baseball at the same time.

More Exposure

For those hoping to play baseball in college, travel baseball offers more exposure opportunities. Tournaments are a great way to get noticed by a scout or college coach.

Better Player Development

Travel baseball teams often provide better player development than recreational teams. Compared to rec teams, travel coaches tend to be more experienced, better connected, and more serious. Some of the most competitive teams actually employ former professional coaches.

More Playing Opportunities

Select baseball teams play a lot more games a year than an average rec team.

What are the downsides of travel baseball?

Possible injuries.

Some critics have argued that the increase in elbow injuries among major-league players may be caused by youth travel baseball.

Compared to Little League teams, travel baseball is quite a bit more expensive.

Lacks Diversity

Due to the cost, travel baseball tends to exclude players in lower socioeconomic brackets.

Large Time Commitment

When it comes to travel baseball, the time commitment is significant. During the season, be prepared to give up quite a few weekends.

Highly Competitive

The goals of travel baseball are to develop players and win games. Sometimes the focus on winning can overshadow player development. Typically, the best players will get the majority of the playing time.

How do select baseball tournaments work?

Each team chooses how many and which tournaments they will participate in every year. Tournaments are typically held on weekends and can take place all over the country. There are also week-long tournaments held during the summer. Teams choose which tournaments to play in based on a variety of factors—distance, cost, age level, potential exposure, and skill level.

Depending on how well they play, a team can expect to play between three and eight games during a tournament. Tournaments usually start with pool-play, where teams are guaranteed to play a certain number of games. If they do well, they then get to play more games which are single elimination.

According to USA Today , on average travel baseball costs families $3,700 per year. However, some families pay upwards of $8,000 per year. These numbers include fees, equipment , training , and travel.

Traveling to weekend tournaments versus weeklong tournaments, like what Ballparks of America hosts, can also have an effect on costs as well. Food, hotels , gas and more are additional factors when deciding where to go with your travel baseball team.

How many travel baseball games are played in a season?

It can vary, but during the summer seasons, players typically play between 50-60 games.

Although every tryout will progress differently, tryouts typically adhere to the following structure.

To start, either a coach or a team captain will lead you through a warm-up. It’s important to warm up properly so you don’t injure yourself during the tryout.

Next, you’ll most likely be asked to do a 60-yard dash. One of the things coaches are looking for is to see which prospects are athletic and fast. You might be asked to run it more than once.

Then, you’ll have a chance to warm up your arms by playing catch.

The next set of drills will focus on position-specific skills. For example, if you’re an infielder, you might be asked to go to shortstop to ground balls. If you’re a pitcher, you’ll be throwing in the bullpen.

You’ll take turns hitting. You’ll only get a few chances to show off your batting skills, so you want to make this count.

In some cases, tryouts may end after batting practice. However, some tryouts end with a scrimmage.

Tips for travel baseball tryouts

It’s important to make a good first impression. Showing up on time demonstrates that you’re reliable. You also want to make sure you’ve dressed appropriately and have all the necessary equipment. And, right when you get there, go up and introduce yourself to the coach.

Beyond just looking for talented players, coaches are also looking for athletes who can help lead the team. Stand out as a leader by helping organize drills and cheering on your potential teammates.

Whether you’re huddling up with the coach or heading out to your position, put some pep in your step. Coaches like to see that you are taking tryouts seriously and putting in the effort. Try to make sure you’re one of the first players to get where you’re supposed to be.

You might not realize it, but the coaches are watching prospects the entire practice, so don’t slack off. Even when you’re playing catch, you want to be sure to put your best foot forward.

Arm strength is one of the things coaches will be looking for. So, no matter what position you play, when you’re in the specific skills portion of the tryout, make sure to throw the ball hard and fast. If you can, start a training program a few weeks before tryouts.

Arm strength is one of the things coaches will be looking for. So, no matter what position you play, when you’re in the specific skills portion of the tryout, make sure to throw the ball hard and fast.

Don’t try to get too fancy with batting practice. Instead, try hit line drives and keep them in the middle of the field.

It can be tempting to try and play the way you think the coaches want you to play. But don’t. If you do, you won’t be at your best and you’ll end up making silly mistakes. Instead, wait for your moment and seize the opportunity.

Yes, coaches are looking for talented players. But they’re also looking for players with potential who can be coached. Show that you’re coachable for listening to advice and implementing it. And it can’t hurt to ask questions that show you’re open to feedback.

500+ Of The Best Baseball Team Names For Your Baseball, Softball, or Fantasy Teams

Before ordering your baseball team's uniforms you need a team name.

Examples of products we've created for baseball teams across Canada and the United States

Custom Baseball Jerseys

Ordering jerseys for your baseball or softball team is a process. It's not like picking up a few extra balls or bats at the sporting goods store: you need a logo, team colours, sizing, payment from the squad (arguably the most important part), some time for us to print and ship them...but it all starts with a team name. No team name = no uniforms, sorry boys and girls!

Now, we didn't want to baffle you with one of these annoying lists where you scroll through hundreds of names not knowing where to stop. Just like we try to do when you're ordering your jerseys, we've tried to make it easy by breaking these names into sub-categories. There's a time and place for every team name: you wouldn't want your youth ball team named "Just the Foul Tips", but sometimes your beer league team needs to spice it up a bit more than something generic and overused like "Tigers" or "Royals".

To help you navigate the below lists here is what to expect in each category:

  • Pro team names: nicknames used by current or former MLB teams (when you want to be traditional)
  • Minor league team names: nicknames used by A, AA, and AAA teams (when you want to sound like a serious ball club, but also stand out with something more unique)
  • Traditional team names: more names we generated that follow the usual "serious ball club" vibe
  • Classic beer league softball team names: fun names you probably wouldn't use for a more competitive ball club
  • Creative/funny softball team names: similar to classic team names, but a bit more clever (at least we think)
  • Beer-related team names: when you can't resist a good beer reference
  • Women's team names: a few names specifically designed for the ladies!
  • Dirty/NSFW team names: for teams who like to push the envelope with their convenor
  • Pop culture references: there's more than a handful of baseball movies out there
  • Babe Ruth references: when you want to pay yours respects to the GOAT
  • Fantasy baseball team names: usually a reference to an MLB player

Pro Baseball Team Names

Can you call yourself a baseball fan if you don't already know these? Important note if you're ordering jerseys for your rec team with one of these team names: you cannot rip off their logos exactly. It's illegal without proper permissions. What you can do though (and we're more than happy to help at no extra charge) is make tweaks to the logo to make it a unique design!

Baseball Team Names With Pop Culture References

Alright you ragtag bunch of misfits ! Who doesn't appreciate a good pop culture reference? Most of these are odes to baseball-related movies, but we threw a few others in there for good measure.

Bad News Bears Samsquanches ( not a baseball reference, but see below) Isotopes (Simpsons, duh) Benchwarmers Wayne's Hardware (the Benchwarmer's opponents) Beers, Burgers, Baseball (explanation below) Sandlot Kekambas (Hardball, because Keanu is a legend)

Shoeless Joe's (not a movie, but a reference to Shoeless Joe Jackson , who now has a restaurant chain named after him) Rockingham Ruckus (Eastbound and Down) St. Louis Wolves (from the classic comedy sketch, "Who's on First?") Lukash Dairy (A League of Their Own) Staten Island Stevedores (A League of Their Own) Peekskill Parks (A League of Their Own) Durham Bulls The Replacements (Not a baseball movie, but works for any sport, really)

Beers, Burgers, Baseball explanation

Meant to be a reference to "Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica" from The Office. I came up with this name, however, because an old teammate told me, "There are 3 B's in life: beers, burgers, and baseball." The man had his priorities figured out.

travel team baseball names

The eight-team 2024 Men's College World Series field is set. Here's a quick summary of each team's season and how they clinched a spot in Omaha, as well as some names to know heading into the MCWS.

Tennessee (55-12)

How the season went: The Volunteers are making their third CWS appearance in four years, and they were named the No. 1 overall seed for the second time in three years. Tennessee has crafted a formidable program over the past half-decade, but the Vols have been unable to climb the mountain as they still search for their first CWS title in program history.

FOLLOW THE ACTION: Full coverage of the Men's College World Series

The SEC regular season champs lead the nation in home runs (173) — 22 more than second place Georgia — and rank third for team ERA (3.83). Tennessee certainly has one of the best résumés and well-rounded squads headed to Omaha.

Kentucky (45-14)

How the season went:  For the first time in program history, the Wildcats are headed to Omaha. With 45 wins this season, the team ties the 2012 program record for most wins in school history and will look to continue a 5-0 winning streak in the NCAA tournament. With a devout fan section behind them, the Cats flew through regionals and super regionals by allowing only four runs in the last 39 innings. The home crowd set a Kentucky baseball attendance record in Game 1 of super regionals and then re-set it in Game 2 (7,558). This team — and their fans — will be hard to silence in their Omaha debut.

Who stood out:  Nolan McCarthy's game-winning, history-making Superman slide into home base to give the Cats the 3-2 win to clinch a ticket to Omaha is a moment that will forever live in Kentucky baseball history. The aggressive dash from second base was an embodiment of the team's competitive spirit all season long. "When we attack, this is us at our best," head coach Nick Mingione said.

North Carolina (47-14)

How the season went: The Tar Heels are headed to Omaha for the first time since 2018 after taking down West Virginia in the super regionals. North Carolina boasts an impressive 37-3 record in Chapel Hill this season, but it has struggled on the road and at neutral sites (10-11). The Tar Heels finished 22-8 in a tough ACC conference play and earned the ACC regular season championship.

VANCE HONEYCUTT WINS IT FOR THE TAR HEELS WITH A WALK-OFF BLAST 💥 pic.twitter.com/X78c2v3OVL — ESPN (@espn) June 8, 2024

Who stood out: Vance Honeycutt has been the heartbeat of the Tar Heels offense this season, and he certainly hasn't shied away in the tournament. The junior outfielder hit a walk-off home run to win Game 1 against West Virginia, and on the first pitch of Game 2, Honeycutt blasted another. Two pitches, two homers. These two swings not only propelled the Heels back to Omaha, but Honeycutt now holds the single-season program record for home runs (26).

WHAT TO KNOW: Complete schedule, TV information for the MCWS

Florida State (47-15)

How the season went: In their 24th appearance at the MCWS, the Seminoles will look to bring home the program's first-ever national title. Since losing to Duke in the ACC tournament final, the Noles have put up a whopping 58 runs, with 24 of those crossing the home plate in a complete UConn blowout in the first super regional opener.

Who stood out:  ACC Player of the Year James Tibbs III is the man to watch. Not only is he tied for the second-most RBI in the nation (94), but he also put up an outstanding triple-homer performance in the Tallahassee Super Regional Game 2 to send FSU to Omaha.

Virginia (46-15)

How the season went:  The Cavaliers are making their seventh appearance at the College World Series since Coach Brian O'Connor first led the team to Omaha 15 years ago. Virginia boasts the nation’s second-highest batting average (.336) and is has gone 29-5 this season when scoring first. When they're not scoring first, this is a squad that knows how to perform under pressure. Fifteen out of their 17 total runs scored in the Super Regional sweep over Kansas State were on two-out hits.

That Omaha feeling 🤌 #GoHoos pic.twitter.com/1vjGRLFUjG — Virginia Baseball (@UVABaseball) June 8, 2024

Who stood out:  Stepping up to the mound in a big moment, pitcher Jay Woolfolk, who hadn't had a start since March, showed out in the NCAA postseason. Woolfolk delivered seven strikeouts a piece in his starts in both the regional and super regional clinchers, setting and matching his career-high strikeout record.

NC State (38-21)

How the season went: Led by head coach Elliott Avent, the Wolfpack persevered through a series of season-ending player injuries and prolonged absences due to sickness to turn around a rough start to the season.

Falling short of an ACC tournament title after an early loss to Duke, the Wolfpack went into regionals and dominated. Supers, however, is where the relentless spirit shone. From delivering 11 runs in the second inning of Game 1, downing Georgia 18-1, to swallowing an 11-2 defeat in Game 2, the Wolfpack's win in Game 3 marked the team's 16th comeback win of the season.

🚨 LIGHT THE BELLTOWER RED 🚨 @NCStateBaseball IS HEADED TO OMAHA! #AccomplishGreatness x #CWS pic.twitter.com/iCgizicCGF — ACC Baseball (@ACCBaseball) June 11, 2024

Who stood out: The sixth-ranked player in program history for the most home runs in a single season (22), Alec Makarewicz has been a leading force for the NC State offense. The Raleigh Regional's Most Outstanding Player leads the Wolfpack with a .380 batting average and 80 RBI.

Texas A&M (49-13)

How the season went:  A nine-run seventh inning in Game 2 of the super regionals launched the Aggies into their second MCWS appearance in the past three seasons and eighth appearance overall. Texas A&M has been a steady force in the SEC, making a home within the top 5 of D1Baseball's weekly Top 25 rankings all season and only dropping three out of 40 games at home.

NINE RUNS IN THE 7TH INNING FOR @AGGIEBASEBALL 🔥 ABSOLUTE SCENES IN COLLEGE STATION 📈 pic.twitter.com/PyfhxG6MA0 — SEC Network (@SECNetwork) June 10, 2024

Who stood out:  How about some love for the guys holding it down behind home plate? Catcher Jackson Appel has been a standout for the Aggies, starting in 53 of the 59 games he's played in, and has helped guide the pitching staff to a 3.94 ERA.

Florida (34-28)

How the season went:  The Gators are headed to Omaha for a second season in a row and 14th time in program history — nine of which have been under current head coach Kevin O'Sullivan. A month ago, though, this team was on a six-series losing streak, getting an at-large bid with a 28-27 record. Talk about a turn-around. Battling through the postseason on the road, the Gators proved their merit in a grueling 13-inning, five-hour super regional instant classic by claiming the series over Clemson with an 11-10 victory off a two-run double from their No. 9 hitter.

travel team baseball names

Who stood out:  You've heard his name before and will be hearing it plenty in Omaha. Jack Caglianone has been a strong force for the Gators all season both at-bat and on the mound. Caglione is one home run away (73) from tying the all-time program record (74) after earning his 33rd homer of the season in the super regional clincher — placing him as the No. 2 home run hitter nationally. The junior will look to extend his 48-game on-base streak in Omaha.

High School Sports | Howard County 2024 baseball All-County team: River Hill senior Henry Zatkowski dazzles on the mound, is named Player of the Year

River Hill's Henry Zatkowski allowed just one earned run and posted a county-best 0.17 ERA. He finished 4-1 with 74 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings on his way to becoming 2024 Howard County Times baseball Player of the Year. (Jeffrey F. Bill/Staff)

His time with the Hawks was no different. That prior experience sharing the field with older players gave him a sense of comfort on the mound making River Hill’s varsity team as a freshman. Zatkowski proved he belonged in his first-ever varsity start, pitching six no-hit innings against Mt. Hebron.

That performance not only boosted Zatkowski’s confidence, but provided a glimpse of the dominant ace he would become. Zatkowski, a Duke University commit, dazzled in big moments.

As a senior, Zatkowski allowed just one earned run and posted a county-best 0.17 ERA. He finished 4-1 with 74 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings. He also excelled at the plate with a .413 batting average and 26 hits, including eight for extra bases and 24 RBIs.

“It’s also helped me develop pitching,” Zatkowski said of hitting. “Being a pitcher, it also helps get me in the right mindset in certain counts, thinking, ‘Hey, what would I throw in this situation?’ If I would strike out on a certain pitch, then I’d think to myself, ‘Hey, why don’t I try to do that on the mound.'”

Zatkowski ended his decorated career 19-3, with a 0.76 ERA, striking out a staggering 279 in 164 1/3 innings. For his consistency and dominance, he is the 2024 Howard County Times baseball Player of the Year for a second straight season.

“It’s almost like he’s not fazed by [pressure situations] because his personality is so easygoing,” River Hill coach Craig Estrin said. “He likes to have a lot of fun on the field. He just competes. He wants to knock your head off. When he’s on the mound, I haven’t seen anything like it in my years of coaching. You only hear about guys that take the ball and dominate, but he does it on the mound and at the plate.”

Zatkowski wasn’t always calm and collected in pressure moments. As a younger player, surrendering a walk or single would often build frustration and derail his confidence. Zatkowski recalled a sophomore year outing against Broadneck where he remembers William telling him, “Settle down. You just got to pitch and trust your stuff.”

That was a transformative moment in his young career, becoming the Hawks’ No. 1 starter late in his sophomore season. As a junior, Zatkowski encountered some early struggles. However, he quickly regained his rhythm as he started deep breathing between each pitch and inning. That helped him remain calm and guarded against those past frustrations.

He capped off a spectacular junior season with a 15-strikeout, one-hit performance over C. Milton Wright in the Class 3A state championship game. He maintained those breathing techniques and again it paid dividends as a senior, turning a prior weakness into arguably his greatest strength.

“I’d say definitely attitude on the bump that was the biggest jump from junior to senior year,” Zatkowski said. “Confidence on the mound is definitely a big thing. I found my groove after struggling initially in my junior year, and it ended in a great title run. This year started out great, so it really built confidence. I’ve been a deep believer in deep breaths. In and out before every inning, in and out before a big pitch, hold it for a couple of seconds.”

2024 Howard County Times baseball player of the year Henry Zatkowski (Jeffrey F. Bill/Staff photo)

Zatkowski faced arguably his greatest challenge in what turned out to be his final high school start, facing three-time defending 4A state champion Sherwood in a regional final. He once again met the moment.

With the tying run on and two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Zatkowski trusted himself and never flinched.

Before his 103rd pitch, he released a final deep breath and shut the door on Sherwood’s rally with his 11th strikeout, a fitting conclusion to a storied career.

“That’s who he is,” Estrin said. “He doesn’t get too high or low. If you saw him in practice, he’s very loose about things. We take batting practice, and he wants to play shortstop after he hits. He wants to field groundballs. He has the perfect attitude. He has fun with all of this.”

Zatkowski now transitions into his next challenge as a Blue Devil, welcoming the new competition and potential high-intensity moments that await him.

“Striking fear into the opponents is definitely something that you want to do before a start,” Zatkowski said. “If you can make the other guys as nervous as possible to want to face you, it’s definitely a big part of the mental game. Moving forward in college, that probably won’t be a factor. So, I’ve got to create my own aura, letting hitters know that, ‘Hey, just because I’m a freshman in college, I’m still a force to be reckoned with.'”
