Always a great time when i go out with wildside. so much wildlife and such an incredible crew..

I personally find that the smaller the boat, the better the experience. Don’t come to Hawaii, and cram yourself on some other tour boat with 20 other people. Go to Wild Side, have a near 2 to 1 client/crew ratio, and making getting into water and looking at dolphins feel very safe and comfortable, and they also took amazing videos of the dolphins that are contributed to a study program. A great deal all around.   Andrew Brewer 2024

Far better than the typical tourist boat and especially that they respect and truly love the wild life in the water.

We were able to see a whale at the end of the humpback season and tons of dolphins, dozens! Hands down, best boat tour I have been on, from Florida, Texas and Bahamas experiences I have been on. So if you want a more intimate experience, like sailing with friends/family, you can’t choose any other option than Wild Side!!! Thank you again for a memorable experience! Sam Mahmoud 4/2024

We had a beautiful day and we were very lucky as the crew identified that a pod of pilot whales was active

that morning  and we got to jump in the water and see them in their natural environment. It was amazing, but it got even better when were in the water later and got to see a pod of dolphins interacting with some of the pilot whales. We knew we were seeing something pretty rare when we saw how excited our crew was about it, lol! It was so much fun and they were so encouraging and knowledgeable that I am afraid that every tour we take like this from now on will never compare to the great day we had with Wild Side The final snorkeling experience we had that day had our son swimming and watching friendly fish clean the turtles shells of algae and bacteria. He was so excited that I could hear him shouting into his snorkel! Would highly recommend this company as being super ethical and truly committed to serving the environment as well as providing a great eco tour to people interested in nature! Larry Salus 4/2024

Goodnight... and what a night it was

We're all catching our collective breath after an incredible performance from Taylor Swift at Murrayfield Stadium.

Thanks for following it with us.

Goodnight from us all.

Swift is a force of nature

wildside tours services

Mark Savage

BBC Music correspondent reporting from Murrayfield

And that’s a wrap.

I’ve seen the Eras tour a lot of times, via livestreams, TikToks and in the cinema. But nothing can prepare you for the live experience.

Taylor is a force of nature.

Three-and-a-half hours in the spotlight, yet she makes it seem like she’s singing to every individual audience member.

So many little moments were tweaked to make the show specific to Edinburgh - which, she said, inspired the lush, arable soundscapes of her Folklore album.

The fans around me were rapt, from young children to grandads in sparkly jackets.

And on the other side of the stadium, a proposal.

It’s amazing to think Taylor will have to perform this 210-minute feat of endurance again tomorrow and Sunday. If you can scrounge a ticket, don’t miss it.

Karma seals the deal

This is it: The last song of the night.

Karma is a weird and funny entry in Swift’s catalogue – an ode to her former enemies, as she watches their downfall with a cat purring on her lap, thus making her the pop equivalent of Ernst Blofeld.

But there’s a valedictory air to the song that makes it a fitting concert closer. The lesson, Taylor appears to be saying, is that good things come to those who wait; and bad deeds will catch up with us.(She says it without the clichés, though).

And just as Miss Americana set out the opening thesis of the show, Karma is a celebration of the star's longevity.

“Ask me what I learned from all those years / Ask me what I earned from all those tears.

“ Ask me why so many fade, but I'm still here / I'm still here, I'm still here."

Get ready for the confetti cannons!

Taylor: One more song Edinburgh, is that alright?

taylor swift

It's time for the final song of the night, it's time for Karma.

Ahead of the song, Swift addresses the crowd once more: “Edinburgh you have given us everything you could possibly have given us tonight.

"I would like to ask for one more song of your time. Is that alright?”

Drawing to a close

For Swifties, it's been a dream of a day of making new friendships and singing at the top of their voices but night one of the UK Eras Tour is drawing to a close.

The crowd shows no signs of letting up though and joins Swift in singing Mastermind.

Midnights like this

Next up on the Midnight era, it's Midnight Rain.

Continuing with fan favourites from her 10th album, Swift performs Vigilante Shit followed by Bejeweled.

Time for another classic... it's Anti-Hero

Undoubtedly another classic in Swift's arsenal, it's time for catchy earworm, Anti-Hero.

The lead single from Midnights, Anti-Hero was played over 17.4m times globally in the 24 hours following its release on Spotify, making it the biggest opening day for a song in the platform's history.

A look into the Lavender Haze

Where has all the time gone? It only seemed to begin a couple of minutes ago, but we’re already in the final era of The Eras show.

This is Midnights, her 10th album, from 2022, which marked a return to pop after the acoustic musings of her pandemic-era albums.

The sequence begins with Taylor’s infamous“stage dive” stunt, after which she re-emerges in a faux fur coat, to sing the breezily upbeat love song Lavender Haze.

Coming up in this section, we’ll also see a giant-sized Taylor terrorising a city during Anti-Hero, and a Fosse-style chair dance during Vigilante.

Welcome to Midnights

We are on the final era of the evening but the party is not over yet.

Swift kicks off the Midnights era with Lavender Haze.

Second surprise...

Before we move onto the final era of the evening, there is one more surprise song.

The second surprise song is...

'Tis The Damn Season, from the Folklore album.

What were we saying about Taylor having the fans in the palm of her hand?

Well, it must have taken its toll as the singer has to have another pause when her hand seizes up.

“This has never happened before, it’s so embarrassing. It’s like a claw.”

After massaging her palm for a second she’s able to keep going.

Swift pauses to check on fans

Taylor notices some people having difficulty at the front of the audience and holds a chord for a looooong time.

“I’m just gonna keep playing until someone notices them. We’re not going to keep singing. We’re going to keep talking until the people in front of me get help.”

“Are we good?” she says as the medical team reach them.

Time for the surprise songs...

“Welcome to the acoustic section,” announces Taylor.

“This is a tradition I started on the Eras Tour where I do a different thing every night.

“Tonight I have a feeling the song I want you to hear is going to match up with what you want to hear.”

Her first choice is Would’ve Should’ve Could’ve from Midnights.

The secret is just about out

And now to the moment a lot of fans have been waiting for – the acoustic set, where Taylor traditionally performs two “surprise songs” that don’t feature in the usual setlist

.Fans have been speculating all day about the tracks she’ll pick for Edinburgh. Some suggested Castles Crumbling, from Speak Now, as a reference to Edinburgh Castle.

Others were predicting Guilty As Sin, as it references the Glaswegian new wave band Blue Nile.

It won’t be long until we find out.

A look at I Can Do It With a Broken Heart

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart is the last song of the Tortured Poets segment – and it’s an intriguing addition to include on the setlist.

The lyric is essentially about the Eras Tour itself, with Taylor talking about the stamina and determination she needed to keep performing last year, while simultaneously dealing with a brutal break-up.

“Breaking down, I hit the floor / All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting, ‘More’.”

“I was grinning like I'm winning, I was hitting my marks / 'Cause I can do it with a broken heart.”

As the song starts, she appears to collapse onto a sofa in the shape of a broken heart, and two circus ringmasters appear to revive her and force her back out to face the crowd.

This is either an incredible feat of meta-narrative dexterity, or the moment where the snake eats its tail.

It's almost time for some surprises...

The Tortured Poets Department era is drawing to a close for the evening and anticipation is building in the arena for the much-speculated-upon surprise songs.

First though, it's I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

Every song an instant classic

The phenomenon of the Tortured Poets Department was announced to fans during an award acceptance speech by Swift in February.

Despite being only released in April, it's clear the songs are instant classics in the eyes of the fans.

Swift continues by performing the Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.

Two-and-a-half hours into the show and there is no let-up...from Swift or the crowd

The Murrayfield crowd belts out the lyrics as Swift kicks off Down Bad followed closely by Fortnight.

Truth, dare and spin the bottles

Continuing with the Tortured Poets Department, it's So High School.

The song echoes the sound of music Taylor Swift and other millennials would have enjoyed in high school, being likened to Avril Lavigne.

Then it's... Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me?

"You should be."

It has been an awesome show so far, with Taylor Swift leaving the Murrayfield crowd breathless.

Representatives for Live Nation , which was promoting the “This Is Me… Live” tour, said, “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.”

Lopez had quietly canceled seven dates in March for the struggling tour, her first in five years, which has been plagued by low ticket sales. In April, it was announced that the tour had been rebranded from the “This Is Me…Now” tour to  “This Is Me…Live/The Greatest Hits,” which the hope that familiar material would goose ticket sales.

It has been 10 years since Lopez’s most recent studio LP, 2014’s  A.K.A. , and 22 years since 2002’s  This Is Me … Then  gave her two of her biggest hit singles in “Jenny from the Block” and the chart-topper “All I Have.” Before that, she hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “If You Had MY Love,” “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny.”

Description of CALIFORNIA: Wildlife of the Central Coast

Monterey, California, is a cute seaside town located about an hour and a half south of San Francisco. Surrounded by world class golf courses and made famous by John Steinbeck’s writing, this once industrial sardine packing town, now hosts a bustling abundance of marine life due to concentrated conservation efforts. Often moody, the rugged coastline is chock full of stunning seascapes with plenty of locations to capture that California sunset.

During this photo adventure, mornings will start on one of several beaches, getting sandy, and photographing the multitude of shorebirds that utilize this area of the Pacific Flyway. This photo adventure is timed with the seasonal migrations of over 20,000 birds that use this area for stopover feeding and resting during their journey. Potential species include the endangered western snowy plover, killdeer, sanderlings, marbled godwits, long-billed curlews, black-bellied plovers, black oystercatchers, brown pelicans, willets, Brandt’s and double crested cormorants, various gulls and tern species too.

On one of the days, we will take a cruise looking for whales, dolphins, common murres, and other marine life at sea. We will have about three to four hours out on the Bay. Most days the stars of the cruise are the humpbacks that are here year-round. Behaviors we hope to see include lunge feeding, breaching, tail or chin slaps. Afternoons will be geared towards sea otters, seals, and sea lions. As a group we will discuss what we want to focus on as sunset arrives, wildlife or landscapes, and we will end the day once the light has gone.

During down time between wildlife action and locations, we will discuss topics such as wildlife and seascape shooting techniques, post processing, and any other similar topics you might have questions about.

As a group we will discuss what we want to focus on as sunset arrives, wildlife or landscapes, and we will end the day once the light has gone.

We will pack out early, catch one last sunrise before heading back to the airport for early afternoon flights home.

Activity Level

Activity level rating:  2  (note: 1 is easy and 5 is difficult).

Skill Level and Photo Equipment Recommendations

You want to have a good selection of lenses with you on this trip; obviously telephoto for wildlife and then wide to ultra-wide for landscape. Here are my suggestions:

  • A lighter weight telephoto 300-600mm for the whale watching – I typically carry the Tamron 18-400mm or Tamron 100-400mm for this as tripods and mono-pods are not allowed on-board.
  • Your longest telephoto for wildlife and wading birds on land – I use the Tamron 150-600mm G2 here.
  • A wide or ultra-wide and mid-range lens for environmental and landscape images.
  • Filters – a polarizer can help cut glare on marine wildlife as well as on rocks or waves in landscapes. Neutral density filters will help create long exposures for smoother waterscapes.
  • Tripod for landscapes or for on-land wildlife watching.
  • Microfiber towels/lens cloths for cleaning lenses – we are shooting in a salt air environment so keeping your glass clean will be very important throughout the day.
  • Rain cover – very important if we end up getting any rain and can help keep ocean spray off your camera when we are at sea.
  • Camera strap – the last thing we want is to have your camera accidentally drop overboard so having a sturdy wrist or neck strap is important for the boat portion of this Photo Adventure.
  • Gear and trip insurance – because you never know what might happen. Working around this much water, I always highly suggest having gear insurance as, should the worst come to pass, you want to know that at least you can replace what is damaged.

D-Day 80th anniversary in Normandy

By Joshua Berlinger, Antoinette Radford, Shania Shelton and Kyle Feldscher, CNN

Our live coverage of the 80th anniversary of D-Day has ended. Read more about D-Day here or scroll through the posts on today's events below.

French President Emmanuel Macron: "Let us be worthy of those who landed here"

From CNN's Joshua Berlinger and Emmanuel Miculita in Paris

France's President Emmanuel Macron delivers a speech during the International commemorative ceremony at Omaha Beach marking the 80th anniversary of the World War II "D-Day" Allied landings in Normandy, in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, in northwestern France, on June 6.

French President Emmanuel Macron closed the international ceremony marking 80 years since D-Day with a speech honoring the soldiers who fought in the largest seaborne invasion in human history and, as other leaders have done throughout the day, drawing parallels to the current geopolitical unrest — most notably the war in Ukraine.

Perhaps the strongest part of Macron's speech was its end, in which he honored Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — who was in attendance — and the Ukrainian people's fight against Russia.

"Faced with the return of war to our continent, faced with the questioning of everything they fought for, faced with those who claim to change borders by force or rewrite history, let us be worthy of those who landed here. Your presence here today, Mr. President of Ukraine, says it all,” Macron said, followed by a brief interruption of the roar of a fighter jet flyover.

Europe has not seen the type of ground conflict that is raging in Ukraine since the end of World War II, and this year’s anniversary comes as Russian forces advance on the battlefield – handing Kyiv a series of tactical defeats and poking holes in the already fragile Western alliance opposed to the Kremlin’s war.

"We know that liberty is a fight for every morning," Macron added. "For everyone in this world that lives hoping for liberty, for equality, for fraternity the sixth of June is a day without end, a never-ending dawn."

World War II veteran dies while traveling to France for D-Day anniversary

From CNN’s Dakin Andone

US Navy veteran Bob Persichitti attends the 74th Reunion of Honor ceremony on Iwo To, Japan, March 23, 2019.

Robert Persichitti, a 102-year-old World War II US Navy veteran, died last week while on his way to France to commemorate  the 80th anniversary of D-Day , according to Honor Flight Rochester, a veterans organization.

Persichitti was a “wonderful, pleasant, humble guy,” who was “easy to talk to,” said Honor Flight Rochester President and CEO Richard Stewart, who told CNN he learned of his friend’s death last Friday.

“We miss him,” said Stewart.

While Persichitti passed away bound for Normandy — where the Allied forces’  landing on June 6, 1944 , laid the foundation for the defeat of Nazi Germany — he served in the Pacific as a radioman aboard the USS Eldorado, Stewart said. His tour of duty included Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Guam, according to Stewart and  the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame , into which Persichitti was inducted in 2020.

Persichitti fell ill last week during a stop in Germany while headed for Normandy, Al DeCarlo, a friend who was traveling with Persichitti, told  CNN affiliate WHAM . Persichitti was airlifted to the hospital and died soon after, DeCarlo said.

“The doctor was with him. He was not alone, he was at peace and he was comfortable,” DeCarlo said. “She put his favorite singer, Frank Sinatra, on her phone and he peacefully left us.”

Persichitti had heart problems in the past, “but for 102, I would say he was in superb health,” Stewart told CNN.

Persichitti was born in a coal mining town outside Pittsburgh, Stewart said, describing his friend's “humble, poor beginnings.” After the war, Persichitti worked as a carpentry teacher in Rochester, New York, according to the Veterans Hall of Fame, and in 1972 received a degree from SUNY Buffalo.

Trump posts tribute on 80th anniversary of D-Day landings in Normandy

From CNN's Kate Sullivan

Former US President Donald Trump on Thursday posted a tribute to the “immortal heroes who landed at Normandy” to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.

“Today, we honor the immortal heroes who landed at Normandy 80 years ago. The men of D-Day will live forever in history as among the bravest, noblest, and greatest Americans ever to walk the earth. They shed their blood, and thousands gave their lives, in defense of American Freedom. They are in our hearts today and for all time,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

France's Macron awards 3 more people the Legion of Honor

From CNN's Emmanuel Miculita and Joshua Berlinger in Paris

French President Emmanuel Macron awards US WWII veteran Arlester Brown with the Legion of Honor during the International commemorative ceremony at Omaha Beach marking the 80th anniversary of the World War II "D-Day" Allied landings in Normandy, in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, in northwestern France, on June 6.

French President Emmanuel Macron used the international ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day to award the Legion of Honor, France's highest military or civilian distinction, to three more American veterans: Joseph Miller, Richard Calvin Rung and Arlester Brown.

Earlier in the day, Macron awarded the Legion of Honor to Christian Lamb , a 104-year-old British woman credited with having made the maps for the D-Day landing, and 11 other American veterans.

Testimonials and musical performances are taking place during international ceremony

As the international ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Omaha Beach is underway, testimonials from those who fought in the war are currently being read out.

Along with the testimonials, musical performances are demonstrated in front of attendees.

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to deliver an address later during the ceremony.

Austin says "Ukraine matters" in the midst of D-Day ceremonies

From CNN's Shania Shelton

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin discussed Russia's war in Ukraine while participating in D-Day ceremonies, telling CNN's Wolf Blitzer that "Ukraine matters."

"I have engaged members of Congress on both sides, in both parties. I have seen throughout strong support for Ukraine, and even though it took a while to get the legislation through, I was confident that that the right thing was going to happen."

He continued, "Because anytime you see that type of support on both sides of the aisle for a cause, Congress will find a way to get things done, which is what they did in this case, because it's the right thing to do."

The international ceremony is underway

From CNN's Josh Berlinger in Paris

The international ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Omaha Beach has begun.

More than 20 heads of state and government and representatives from royal families across Europe are in attendance.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrives at international ceremony to standing ovation

From CNN's Joshua Berlinger in Paris

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at Thursday's international ceremony to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day to a standing ovation and a rousing applause.

Zelensky's presence — and Russian leader Vladimir Putin's absence, despite Soviet Russia's key role in winning the war in Europe — is highly symbolic given how the war in Ukraine is casting a shadow over the day's events.

Several world leaders have already used their speeches to cast parallels between Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the aggression of Nazi Germany that sparked World War II.
