Los ángeles azules & emilia's 'perdonarte, ¿para qué' adds third week atop billboard argentina hot….

“Our shows are a big party and a celebration of life,” drummer Alex González tells Billboard Español . “We are excited to continue that celebration and share it with more people across the United States.”

Their upcoming U.S. tour follows their pre-pandemic 2019 jaunt, Rayando El Sol Tour ; and more recently their unprecedented run at the L.A. Forum , where they had an exclusive residency that had them playing monthly, with a staggering 12 sold-out shows and 165,000 tickets sold.

“We don’t take this for granted, it’s amazing to feel the love from all our Latinx fans across the world,” says frontman Fher Olvera. “It’s an honor to represent our heritage.”

México Lindo y Querido kicked off in Latin America on June 10 in Tijuana, México, and continued with multiple nights in Medellín, Bogotá, Puerto Rico and, again, México. The five-city run in their native country presented the group to sold-out stadiums with over 150,000 fans, including 60,000 attendees at the Foro Sol in Mexico City.

Maná celebrated the announcement of their U.S. leg at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Beach during Latin Grammy Week in November 2022, featuring a special live performance from the band.

Recently, the “Oye Mi Amor” performers embarked on a duos initiative where Maná enlisted Christian Nodal (“Te Lloré Un Río”), Alejandro Fernández (“Mariposa Traicionera”), Sebastián Yatra (“No Ha Parado de Llover”), and Pablo Alborán (“Rayando El Sol”), among others, and they’re expected to unveil more collaborations soon.

Billboard Español spoke with Fher Olvera and Alex González of Maná about their highly anticipated 2023 tour. Full dates are below. Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 18 via Ticketmaster.

Billboard Español : Besides this big tour announcement, what other projects are Maná working on?

Fher Olvera: We are working on finishing our duets project in 2023. It began in 2019, we are revisiting some of the greatest hits, accompanied by renowned and diverse artists. We collaborated with Christian Nodal a few months ago on “Te Llore Un Rio,” which was a huge success in Latin and North America, trending in over 15 countries. [We have] new music coming in 2024. Stay tuned!

You’ve had tremendous success abroad, outside of Mexico, and are much-loved by your devoted fans and the Latin public. What is it like to connect with the Latinx/Latin diaspora outside of Mexico?

Speaking about La Residencia, please  share a few words about your extended residency at Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Alex González: Being able to play in L.A. for our residency was very special. It truly is a second home to us, and we are very proud to have broken the record with twelve sold out shows. Every show was special but most of all it was special to share these moments with the people from Los Angeles who have been so kind and loyal to us since we started playing at the Hollywood Palace in 1993. To be here all those years later and breaking records… it’s very special to us.

Maná is one of the most recognizable and successful Latin rock bands in the world, and you draw audiences from all walks of life. How is it performing for such an eclectic crowd?

González: It’s so awesome to play to crowds made up of different people and cultures, that’s the power of music, it connects with people, even though we sing in Spanish and the majority of our fans are Latinos, it’s awesome to see that crossover. We always try to put on the best show possible because we know how hard it is for many of them to save their hard earned money to go see us. We are always grateful to our fans.

What do you enjoy the most about life on the road?

González: We’ve been playing together for more than 34 years, we are like a family, and we love being on stage. We are addicted to the adrenaline and that rush that you feel when you are on stage. And to feel all the love and energy back from the fans and the crowd is one of the best feelings in the world.

Any other details you can share about the 2023 tour? Special guests? New song releases?

Maná announces 2023 US tour dates, teases new album: 'We're planning way ahead' (exclusive)

mexico lindo tour

  • Mexican rock band Maná announced they will be performing in the U.S. in 2023 as part of their México Lindo y Querido tour.
  • The band will play two dates in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum.
  • Maná drummer Alex González told USA TODAY fans can expect a new studio album from the band as well.
  • "We're planning way ahead," he said. "We're just so excited to be able to do what we love."

For  Maná , it's never too early to plan ahead. The Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock band is ending 2022 on a high note with big plans for 2023.

After nearly four decades of hits – including "Rayando el Sol," "Oye Mi Amor," "Mariposa Traicionera," "Labios Compartidos" and "Bendita Tu Luz" – the band, composed of lead vocalist Fher Olvera, 62, drummer Alex González, 53, guitarist Sergio Vallín, 50, and bass player Juan Calleros, 60, has no plans to stop performing.

USA TODAY can exclusively reveal Maná is embarking on a new North American leg of their México Lindo Y Querido tour. "Next year looks amazing and we can't wait to be back on the road,"   González says. "We haven't toured the U.S." since just before the COVID-19 shutdown.

The 19-date U.S. tour kicks off Feb. 10 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, a return to the venue where  Maná played the city's first-ever arena residency last spring  with 12 sold-out shows.

The band will play two nights in major cities including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami and Chicago and will conclude the tour Sept. 23 in Sacramento, California. (For a full list of tour dates go here .)

Tickets go on sale Friday.

'Our second home': Maná announces residency at The Forum in Los Angeles in 2021

Now, Maná is "bringing a little piece of México" with their new tour. "We have put very high the name of México and Guadalajara … representing our land and where we were born, and while there's health – there will be Maná for many years to come," González adds. "Si Dios quiere (God willing)."

Since its 1986 start, the band has released 11 albums, including their 1992 album "¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños?" which became the best selling Spanish-language rock album of all time. In 2019, Maná began re-recording some of their greatest hits with Latin music acts including Christian Nodal ("Te Llore Un Rio"), Sebastián Yatra ("No Ha Parado de Llover"), Joy Huerta ("Eres Mi Religion") and Alejandro Fernández ("Mariposa Traicionera").

But there hasn't been new music for fans since 2015.

González teases the wait may almost be over. "We’re going to be working on demos for a new studio album next year," he says. "The idea is to record at the end of 2023 and to be able to release the album in 2024."

"We're planning way ahead. … We're just so excited to be able to do what we love."

Maná after receiving Latin Grammy honor in 2018:  'We vow to fight for immigrants, women's rights '

Known for their evocative lyricism and high-energy shows ("Our concerts are a big party," says González), Maná places a premium on highlighting environmental, social, political and human rights issues.

In 2018, when they became the first group to receive the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year award, they used their acceptance speech to promote a message of unity and justice during Donald Trump's presidency . "We will continue fighting for the rights of the immigrants who have made this country great in the last century," Olvera said at the time.

González says that's just "part of our philosophy and who we are as people."

He says the band learned from the best: The Beatles , The Police , U2 , Bob Marley ,  Peter Gabriel and Bruce Springsteen . "We grew up listening to amazing artists and musicians … using their platform to talk about things we’re worried about," he says. "At the end of the day, yeah, we play in a famous band but we’re also human beings and we all live on the same planet Earth."

Most recently, Maná partnered with Dr. Anthony Fauci in support of President Joe Biden's Month of Action to encourage vaccination among the Latino population in the U.S.

Artists using their platform for good: Bad Bunny debuts 'El Apagón' music video amid Hurricane Fiona, addressing Puerto Rico's gentrification

Ranchera royalty Ángela Aguilar follows 'in the footsteps of my dad' Pepe, but could also be its future

"A lot of people suffered because of the pandemic, millions of lives were lost," González says. "But we will remember them and celebrate them."

That love and respect for their fanbase is why the band continues to reach younger generations.

"People come to our shows to have a good time, it's an experience," he says, "and it's great to see how people have also passed our music from generation to generation. It's been a wild ride."

Considered the most influential Latin rock band in the world, MANÁ continues to transcend generations with their music. MANÁ - meaning positive energy in Polynesian - began in 1986 when four friends from Guadalajara, Mexico came together to fuse new rock sounds with Latin and Caribbean rhythms.

The group includes Fher Olvera as vocalist, guitarist and main composer, Alex González on drums, Sergio Vallín on lead guitar, and Juan Diego Calleros on bass. The group released their first album, Falta Amor in 1990. In 1992, they released ¿Dónde Jugarán los Niños? which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling Spanish-language rock album of all time.

MANÁ is one of the highest selling Latin touring acts of all time. From their first show in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palace in 1993 to their ongoing, historic residency at the Kia Forum on the Rayando El Sol Tour, MANÁ has established themselves as a powerhouse in the city. Their residency has sold over 165,000 tickets to date across 12 sold-out shows.

MANÁ has sold millions of albums around the world and has released 11 albums of original songs along with several live albums and compilations. MANÁ's many accolades additionally include their handprints on the Hollywood Rockwalk and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making them the first Spanish-language rock band to receive that honor.

Their influence also spans beyond music. For 30 years, the Selva Negra Ecological Foundation has been the social arm of MANÁ, combining conservation and environmental rescue with social development. Throughout their career, the band has been a vocal advocate for issues impacting their fans around the globe. Most recently the band joined forces with Dr. Anthony Fauci in support of President Joe Biden's Month of Action to encourage vaccination among the US Latino population.

MANÁ has 133 Certified Gold Albums, 256 Certified Platinum albums, 4 GRAMMY Awards, 9 Latin GRAMMY Awards, 26 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 15 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, and honors such as the 2018 Latin Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award & 2018 Latin Grammy Person of the Year Award and more recently the 2021 ICONO LATIN BILLBOARD Award.

The most recent release -"Te Llore Un Rio," featuring Christian Nodal (pop and maricheño), has been one of their most successful releases of their current duet project so far, trending in over 15 countries across North America and Latin America at the time of release. It is assumed that the city may have counted 200,000 inhabitants during its period of prosperity. In those years, Teotihuacán was the biggest city in the American continent and one of the biggest in the world. Uxmal is the most famous archaeological site of the Puuc Route, a series of ancient Mayan cities that share the same architectural patterns. Once upon a time, Uxmal was one of the most important ceremonial centres of the ancient Maya civilization. So Uxmal is still considered one of the most beautiful pre-Hispanic archaeological sites on the American continent, thanks to the proportion of its majestic constructions.

The precision and elegance of the decorations are astonishing. Visit the Pyramid of the Magician, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, and the Governor’s Palace. Later, we’ll go south to explore Kabah. This site is located close to Uxmal and belongs to the Puuc route. In Kabah, we will see the famous Arch that connects the city with Uxmal, the Great Pyramid, and the stunning Temple of the Masks.

At night and with a colder climate, you will enjoy the most important places of this beautiful city (on your own), also known as “The White City.” Mérida was founded in 1542 by the Spaniard Francisco de Montejo. Merida is the capital city of the Mexican state of Yucatan, with still a strong influence on Mayan cultural heritage. It features a fascinating combination of art, history, and culture, with cobbled streets, stunning architecture, lovely parks, and delicious gastronomy.

  • Brasil (1) Rafael Becker
  • Chile (1) Agustín Errázuriz
  • Colombia (1) Ricardo Celia
  • Costa Rica (1) Paul Chaplet
