Trek Wahoo 29er Hardtail

trek wahoo mountain bike

29ers are versatile enough to serve XC and trail riders, and their unbeatable efficiency and momentum make them the ultimate singlespeed weapon.

  • USER REVIEWS

The frame is the strength of this thing....I beat my bike to hell and it keeps going. I do not know what it originally had as I got just the frame and fork used.

Fork sucks!!! I hate the green.

This bike can do it all!!!!!!!!!!!! Road Biking, Trail riding, XC races, All Mountain riding, Downhill riding, Urban/Skate park riding and Freestyle Riding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made for XC riding and is not amazing at really anything.

This bike can do it all, and I have done every aspect of biking with my trek wahoo. I started off riding XC trails with my 29er tires, then I bought road bike tires and put them on my wahoo and road biked with it for a while (not the best road bike but it can be done!!!). Then I got into downhill mountain biking and brought my Wahoo out to Colorado and rode Key Stone, Beaver creek and much more. The bike isn't the best for downhill but it gets me down the hill in one piece!!!!! Finally, I just got into Freestyle mountain biking ( the best kind of mountain biking) and I have been hitting big jumps, road gaps, and 5+ foot drops on this Trek wahoo!!!!!!!! Winter is here and I will be going to Rays Indoor MTB with this bike and I'm sure it will do just fine!!!! IMPORTANT: it is probably important to note that I have replace every single part on this bike except the fork, but I have replace most parts with stock parts. To sum it up, This bike can do everything, all you need is a different set of wheels for whatever your doing!!!!!!!!!!

Fork, Tires, Components, Brakes

For the price this bike isn't bad although i do wish they would have used a sram drivetrain. The tires that came on mine were pathetic and made you slide all over the trail. When doing any jumps etc the fork would bottom out. The brakes are just touchy but other than that work ok. The componentry is ok when it is broke in but isn't as good as higher end.

Trek Marlin SS

Looks, Saddle, Handlebars, and the fork isn't too bad in my opinion.

Wheels, Gears, Brakes, Weight, Tires!

I have had the 2013 model now for 6 months b ought from new. So far there hang been a single thing that I have had to replace, apart from the rear tire which is getting rather low on tread. The tires do not give me confidence to ride too fast around corners and in the rain I barely reach a crawl from the lack of grip. I have also had a fair amount of punctures so far too. Initially the brakes where a joke and even after being in they where pathetic but I tried upgrading the front rotor size which made no noticeable difference. However, after some adjustments the brakes showed MASSIVE improvement and I now think they are really good (hurts my neck when I brake hard now!). The front fork isn't too bad, I'm finding it hard to justify upgrading it to a rockshox which is 60% of the price i paid for the whole bike! The preload does nothing major but luckily the fork is pretty well set up for my weight already. I have put a rack on the back and did a recent trip with around 27kg of weight loaded on the bike and everything held up great! I did need to upgrade the grips to ergonomic grips which also made the whole bike fell better controlled. Overall I would recommend this bike because I personally don't think it is as bad as people make it out to be, and as components wear out it provides a great opportunity to upgrade parts and even learn about your bike which will greatly improve your riding experience!

The longer I have it the less value I see. I have a Trek hybrid that has served me well, and still works very well after many years and virtually no maintenance. I expected the same from the Wahoo but was disappointed.

After having it for 18 months and primarily riding on asphalt bike paths and an occasional dirt road in S Florida, the front sprockets had to be replaced due to excessive wear and the bearing in the front fork is giving out (again I only ride on flat paths for the most part). I find the shifters to be mushy. On a brief trip to a hilly area in Georgia I was squeezing the brake handle as hard as I could going down a steep paved road but still could barely get to a complete stop. The pedals are undersized for a guy with size 10 shoes and my feet tend to slip off. There is only one Trek dealer in my area and that is a 40 mile round trip. Will look for another brand next time.

Poor quality components and wearing out quickly.

Frame..brakes, seat, handlebars and front suspension forks are all passable

Gears, wheels and cranks are cheap

Have a 2012 Wahoo 29r. First let me start off by saying the frame is really nice. Slightly on the heavy side but no big deal its durable and looks really sharp. Most of the components suck though ill be honest... already warped the back single walled wheel just doing everyday dirt trail riding nothing major. id recommend splurging a little more for higher end bike with better components. Your going to end up having to replace everything on this bike down the line anyway. Really not worth the 600 when all you are getting is basically a descent frame with components that aren't up to the task with anything more than general commuting.

Appearance, 29" wheels

Wheels, components don't hold up

We purchased this bike for my 12 year old son. He has ridden it to school and around town a few times, and then twice on mountain bike rides. After riding on the trails, we found the rear wheel to be excessively out of true. The second off-road visit resulted in the chain falling off and getting stuck causing the pedals not to freewheel. My call to service department at Trek gave me a "well this is a low-end mountain bike" response. I don't view nearly $600 as low end. Mid-range. Plus an 85 lb. 12 year old shouldn't cause the wheels to become out of true. He takes care of this bike, and the performance is disappointing.

Price Control is great Saddle 29er The fork is not the best, but its VERY good for the price. It has a double preload.

Brakes are pretty wimpy, but they are better than regular pad brakes. Frame is really heavy, but it feels strong and handles well.

So I gave the value 5 chilis because the value is reaaaally good for the money. Everything on it is fair quality. Its more of a beginner bike, but if your just buying a mountain bike with a low budget this is a great bike. Also if you are buying this bike just to ride on the streets i suggest not buying this bike. This is a mountain bike not a commute bike.

Solid frame and perfect starter bike for the price!

Pedals and tires suck!

Mine was a 2012 but still love it! Tires and pedals are poor but easy upgrade. The way to go for a starter 29er!

The frame.... This frame just feels right. It's not that heavy. Out of the box it's a great bike.

The tires suck and the pedals suck more.

All in all it rides awesome and it looks awesome. Could use a few upgrades that are on my list

Wahoo KICKR bike V2 review

With its customized fit, incline changes and realistic ride experience, the wahoo kickr bike (version 2) aims to fully recreate your outdoor bike indoors — but is it worth the gasp-inducing price tag.

Wahoo Kickr Bike

The Wahoo KICKR Bike V2 is a great training tool for cycling enthusiasts serious about elevating their exercise performance — but for those who just want to boost their cardio fitness or lose weight in the comfort of their home, this sleek-looking machine may be an expensive overkill.

The Wahoo KICKR bike is not a typical exercise bike by any means. From its unique design and advanced customization features to a truly whopping price tag, it goes above and beyond what you would normally see in an exercise bike. But does the Wahoo KICKR bike deliver a market-beating performance, too?

It does appear so. This sleek machine may be one of the best exercise bikes money can buy, given that it features incline changes, customizable gearing and other features designed to give out an ultra-realistic ride experience. True, the Wahoo KICKR bike does not come with a huge touchscreen like almost all premium exercise machines these days, but its wide compatibility with fitness apps allows you to access endless immersive rides and fitness classes on devices of your choice. The KICKR Bike is also compatible with Wahoo accessories, such as the KICKR Headwind fan that cools you down during workouts, meaning you can make it a part of a fully functional workout station.

However, it costs $3,999.99, making it one of the most expensive indoor bikes on the market. So is the flagship Wahoo bike worth such a steep investment? To find out, we took the Wahoo KICKR bike for a spin (pun intended), assessing its design, durability, features and ease of use. Read on for our take on this iconic exercise bike.

Wahoo KICKR BIKE V2 review

Wahoo kickr bike v2: set up and usability.

Wahoo KICKR Bike

  • Two person assembly
  • Beginners may struggle with the setup
  • No pedals included

The Wahoo KICKR Bike is relatively easy to put together. However, it is a heavy and bulky piece of kit, so the assembly would ideally involve two people. Also, the packaging does not include any pedals, hand tools or bike grease, so make sure you have those on hand when unboxing the machine.

The Wahoo KICKR Bike comes with a detailed and easy-to-understand manual, as well as a handy tutorial video on the Wahoo website. However, some beginners may lack the technical knowledge needed for a flawless set-up. If you have never tweaked around a regular outdoor bike, it may take you a while to get the KICKR up and running. But if you are a more experienced cyclist, you will likely enjoy the familiarity of putting it all together.

First, you need to assemble the stabilizer legs to the lower frame and ensure that the bike is leveled and steady. Then, you can attach the handlebar, insert the seatpost and plug both shifter cords into the bottom of the LED display screen. Next, attach the pedals of your choice to the crank arms ― you will need a wrench, some grease and pedal washers included in the packaging ― then plug your KICKR bike into the power adapter. Lastly, download the Wahoo app to finish the setup.

There are several options to customize your bike in the Wahoo app, including an option to upload a photo of your bike to let the app pick the best settings for you. We knew the fit on our outdoor bike so we opted for the old-fashioned manual adjustments, but using an algorithm to customize your piece of equipment is a truly impressive feature. The Wahoo app is a handy piece of software, nonetheless ― it allows you to control the bike and store your workout data, and it integrates all Wahoo accessories into one functioning unit.

  • Set up and usability score: 4/5

Wahoo KICKR Bike V2: Design and display

Wahoo KICKR Bike

  • Sturdy piece of kit
  • Customized fit
  • No touchscreen or device holder

Approximate dimensions : 48-in x 30-in x 37-in

Weight : 93 lbs (42kg)

User height range : 5 to 6’4 feet (1.52 to 1.93m)

Max user weight : 250 lbs (113 kg)

Drive type : Belt

Resistance : Electromagnetic and enhanced motor

Grade range : -15% to +20%

Display : small LED screen

Warranty : 1 year

Compatibility : Wahoo and third-party apps

Other features : Drinks holder

Looks-wise, the Wahoo KICKR Bike does not resemble a typical exercise bike ― just like an outdoor bike, it is less podgy, more refined in shape, and it does claim quite a big chunk of the floor space. You will not be able to keep it in a cupboard (unless its dimensions are larger than 48-in x 30-in x 37-in), so make sure you have enough room to store this beast. The KICKR Bike does have a set of wheels, but the sheer weight of this machine ― a respectable 93 lbs, no less ― makes it difficult to move around. If this is a problem for you then we advise you to keep the bike in one designated spot that is convenient to live with in the room or, if budget allows, invest in a more portable machine.

We were impressed by the customization features of the Wahoo KICKR bike. You can adjust it across five points ― saddle height, frame height, stack, reach and setback ― so it fits your body just right. However, we found that adjusting the bike requires some strength and manual dexterity (and good luck to you if you happen to have long nails). The levers are tight and tricky to unlock, and at times we were worried that we would snap them if we applied too much force. We also found it tricky to keep the saddle at the right angle when adjusting the seat height.

Wahoo KICKR Bike

The resistance, grade changes and brakes are controlled by buttons on the handlebar, while a small LED screen located on the right-hand side underneath displays what gear you are in, your current grade percentage, whether the bike is locked (if so, external software is unable to control it) and connection status to indicate if it is paired with another device. The controls felt intuitive and responsive, and we liked that the screen did not obscure the view.

We did, however, find the seat quite uncomfortable. It felt too narrow and stiff, and it did lack the padding often seen in other premium exercise bikes. Moreover, the capacity of the Wahoo KICKR Bike is limited to 250 lbs (113 kg), so it is not suitable for heavier individuals.

  • Design and display score: 3.5/5

Wahoo KICKR Bike V2: Features

Wahoo Kickr Bike

  • Three cycling modes
  • Seamless connectivity

The Wahoo KICKR Bike offers robust connectivity to apps and third-party devices thanks to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection and up to three Bluetooth connections. We had no problems linking the bike to our mobile phone and laptop, and experienced no lags in data transfer between devices.

There are plenty of apps that are compatible with the Wahoo KICKR bike, so let’s focus on the ones directly related to the brand: the Wahoo app, and the Wahoo SYSTM app.

The main Wahoo app, used to set up, customize and control the bike, offers three workout modes. The Level mode is akin to riding on a wind trainer, meaning the faster you go, the harder it gets. In the ERG mode, you set your desired power output, and the machine will automatically adjust the resistance to maintain it regardless of how fast you pedal. Whereas, in the SIM mode, the KICKR bike will model the ride based on your desired settings. We liked the versatility of options — it is not something you tend to come across in an exercise bike. The Wahoo app also stores workout data, making it a useful tool for tracking performance. And, importantly, it is free of charge.

The Wahoo X and its offspring Wahoo SYSTM, are offered on a subscription basis, but they come with a free trial period. These apps have been curated by passionate cycling professionals — and it shows. They contain hundreds of cycling workouts, ranging from simple interval sessions to pre-recorded fitness classes and rides on location where you cruise through picturesque places. These apps also offer plenty of mobility and strength training workouts, often with tips on how to boost performance on the bike and speed up post-exercise recovery. Although designed with cyclists in mind, the workouts can still provide valuable advice to others. There is only one caveat: the cannonade of beeps and whistles that announces the beginning and end of each workout set can become quite tiresome after a while, and there is no option to switch it off. You can turn the sound off entirely, but this means you may lose some of the input from the exercise instructions.

In addition, the Wahoo SYSTM app offers dozens of running, swimming and yoga classes, as well as the Systm Mental Training Programme: A series of motivational classes designed to boost your mental resilience during competitions and difficult rides. The app also features challenges, fitness tests and cycling documentaries, and it allows you to track your progress and schedule specific workouts.

All in all, the Wahoo KICKR bike and associated apps offer a ton of valuable content to budding cyclists and athletes alike, and we liked how neat the apps looked, too.

  • Features score: 4.5/5

Wahoo KICKR Bike V2: Performance

Wahoo KICKR Bike

  • Realistic ride feel
  • Quiet even at high speeds

The Wahoo KICKR Bike does what it promises. It delivers an incredibly realistic ride feel, while seamlessly connecting to third-party devices, such as mobile phones and laptops.

We liked that the KICKR Bike behaved like a real outdoor bike, down to the characteristic ‘clunk’ sound heard between gear shifts. Adjustments to resistance and incline were quick and efficient, with each gear and grade percentage bringing a tangible difference to the intensity and overall feel of our workouts. The machine felt relatively sturdy and remained stable at high speeds. Whether we did an active recovery ride or a heart-pumping sprint, we found that the KICKR Bike served its purpose well.

We also liked that it was relatively quiet. The Wahoo KICKR Bike is equipped with a powerful motor, but even when kicked into heavy action it does not cross the threshold of a gentle hum. If you tend to train at odd times of the day and night, this bike is unlikely to wake up anyone around you.

However, given how integral the apps are to the KICKR Bike experience, you can’t help but notice the lack of a smartphone or tablet holder. Wahoo does offer a desk stand to go with the bike, but not everyone has the space or budget for this add-on. True, any mount sticking from a handlebar would diminish the raw feel of the KICKR Bike, but not having anything at all does makes it more difficult to take full advantage of what Wahoo has to offer.

  • Performance score: 4/5

Wahoo KICKR Bike V2: What the users say

The Wahoo KICKR Bike is rated 4.4 out of 5 stars on the Wahoo website, with 69% of users giving it a full five stars. Positive reviews praise this exercise bike for its sturdy build, connectivity, customized features and incline changes. As one user commented, “The bike is built like a tank.”

Negative reviews often cite its sky-high price and problematic levers. As one user said, “It‘s really hard to not get them [levers] to slip. It‘s annoying to then have to make the saddle and handlebar be completely straight on the bike. Lining up round tubes when you are pushing with all your might to close the quick-release levers is quite hard.” Some users also disagree on the sturdiness and stability of the Wahoo KICKR bike.

Should you buy the Wahoo KICKR Bike V2?

✅ If you are looking for an exercise bike meticulously designed to elevate your cycling performance (and you do not mind splashing out some serious cash while doing so), the Wahoo KICKR bike is a great choice. This beastly machine takes up quite some space, but its realistic ride feel, customizability and compatibility are hard to match.

❌ However, if you are not a cycling enthusiast, or if you are looking for a more indoor-style workout experience, the Wahoo KICKR Bike may be an overkill, both in terms of price and functionality.

If the Wahoo KICKR Bike V2 isn't for you

With its sturdy build, stylish looks, and top-rated app content, the Peloton bike makes for a good alternative to the Wahoo KICKR Bike. It may lack its high customizability, but the flagship Peloton machine offers an equally engaging cycling experience at a more wallet-friendly price.

The Wattbike Atom may be another suitable alternative. It offers a realistic ride feel, challenging workouts, and a free app. This exercise bike is also much cheaper than the KICKR bike.

Wahoo KICKR Bike V2: How we tested

We tested the Wahoo KICKR Bike for over a month, looking at its design, durability, ease of use, features and value for money. We put the bike through a range of workouts, including gentle active recovery rides and high-intensity sprints, working through all gears and incline changes. We also assessed its connectivity with third-party devices, explored compatible apps, and gave our verdict on the overall functionality of the Wahoo KICKR Bike.

Geography [ edit ]

Khabarovsk Krai occupies a long swathe of Russia's Pacific coastline, a full 2000 kilometers of it, going as far south as Sakhalin and north to Magadan Oblast . At nearly 800.000 km², it's Russias fourth largest province. In the north, taiga and tundra prevail, deciduous forests in the south, and swampy forests in the central areas around Nikolaevsk-on-Amur . As a testament to its size there are more than 50 thousand lakes to fish in, more rivers and streams than you would care to count, and several mountain ranges intersect the region, including the northern reaches of the Sikhote-Alin mountains shared with Primorsky krai. The highest point is Mount Bery, towering nearly in fact, three quarters of the area is occupied by mountains and plateaus.

Biodiversity [ edit ]

The diversity of purely North animals like brown bear and sheer South representatives like Eastern softshell spiny turtle (Trionix) is backed by the legend that God would mix the rest of seeds and animals when somebody told him about missing spot on Earth.

One can encounter pine-tree and wild Far-Eastern grape which came definitely from the South. Its blue round berries with sour taste are cultivated in gardens to produce home wine.

Like Trionix many species are listed in the Red Book.

Culture [ edit ]

Japanese director Akira Kurosawa's 1975 film Dersu Uzala, based on a book by Russian explorer Vladimir Arsenyev, describes the friendship of a Russian explorer and his Nanai guide named Dersu Uzala. (Wikipedia)

Aboriginal culture within small enclaves across the krai are Nanai, Ulchi, Manchur, Orochi, Udege, Negidal, Nivkhi, Evenki and varies in each settlement.

Get in [ edit ]

Khabarovsk is a major transportation hub for the entire Russian Far East and will likely be any visitor's first stop by either the Trans-Siberian Railway or via Khabarovsk's international airport ( KHV  IATA ).

From China there are two entrance routes: one begins on the border with the Heihe - Blagoveshchensk crossing point, the other from Fuyuan town on Amur river. Another possible way is one from Sakhalin, where international ferry operates between Russian Korsakov and Japan's Wakkanai . A one-night bus trip along the federal highway Vladivostok-Khabarovsk is an option for a traveller, if the train carriage by some odd reason is not preferable.

Do [ edit ]

Fishing and hunting in the wild are the major attractions for local villagers, town and city dwellers as well as trekking routes to taiga plains and mountains untouched by humans are favourite activities for all sorts of tourists. Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk mountain bike clubs are all at it. Taiga forest roads are always abuzz with mosquitos in summer and the best seasons for visiting are May and September when the air is not so stifling and the sun is just warm. Winter attracts regional skiers and snowboarders to the ski bases "Holdomi" and "Amut Snow Lake" near Komsomolsk and "Spartak" slopes near Khabarovsk.

Eat [ edit ]

Local food follows traditional Russian cuisine featured with salted bracken, mushrooms, Korean and Chinese and even European dishes served in theme restaurants of two big cities. Don't forget to taste pancakes with a spoonful of linden, wildflower, buckweat honey or a season caviar stuffing.

Stay safe [ edit ]

Snakes and bears are rare attackers in the wild, lest provoked. More dangerous are infectious ticks which are active most of all in spring. Use spray against ticks.

Go next [ edit ]

Khabarovsk is the hub for regional air travel with important flights to Russian destinations Anadyr , Irkutsk , Krasnoyarsk , Magadan , Moscow , Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky , Yakutsk , and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk , as well as international flights to Niigata , Japan and to Seoul , Korea . There are no direct flights to/from the US .

The next major stops to the east on the Trans-Siberian Railway are Ussuriysk and Vladivostok ; to the west, Birobidzhan .

There is a regular ferry from Vanino (the terminus of the Baikal-Amur Mainline ) to Kholmsk , Sakhalin .

Khabarovsk, Russia

Tours, Attractions and Things To Do in Khabarovsk

Khabarovsk travel guide.

  • 1. Architecture
  • 2. Attractions
  • 3. Cultural life
  • 4. Souvenirs

Khabarovsk, Russia fascinates visitors with its unusual heritage and fabulous untouched nature. Tourists are drawn to the native culture, eclectic architecture and mesmerizing waters in this off-the-beaten-track destination, which promises a unique and memorable vacation.

As the center of Russia’s far eastern region of Khabarovsk Krai, the city offers celebrations throughout the year which are sure to give added flair to your trip, from traditional culture days to large-scale food fests. It is easy to keep a full itinerary during your stay thanks to its many theaters, museums, restaurants, workshops and quest rooms. Guests who want a more relaxed holiday can venture into the serenity of Khabarovsk nature, including the coast of the Sea of Japan or one of the region’s many picturesque lakes .

Khabarovsk Architecture

Khabarovsk, Russia

Khabarovsk architecture surprises with its harmonious blending of varying types and styles. This is due in large part to major changes which the city underwent in the mid-19th-early 20th centuries in conjunction with developments in the political, economic, scientific and technical spheres. The search for new trends in architecture came after the death of the classicism style, which had dominated the Russian Empire and the wider world for centuries. Beginning in the mid-19th century, the practice of mixing eclectic architectural styles began to emerge, leading to an era of amazing stylistic improvisations.

During the final decades of Romanov reign, many educational institutions for architects and engineers were opened. As a result, the face of numerous Russian cities began to change rapidly. Art Nouveau - a new, modern trend that absorbed several preceding styles – had come to dominate the architectural scene.

Many Art Nouveau buildings can still be seen in central Khabarovsk. These include:

  • Takeuchi apartment building (5 Muravyov-Amursky Street)
  • Esplanade Hotel (18 Muravyov-Amursky Street)
  • Luhta apartment building (84 Komsomolskaya Street)
  • Zandau apartment building (34 Muravyov-Amursky Street)

Khabarovsk also has many Gothic buildings, a style distinguished by its elegance and attention to detail. Every element of Gothic architecture emphasize a vertical orientation, as seen in the massive walls and columns, round arches and wide windows which contrast with narrow towers, pointed peaks and lancet windows.

Khabarovsk’s Gothic architecture is best represented by the artillery warehouse buildings located at 16 Komsomolskaya Street. Another notable example is the Red Guard Headquarters (105 Komsomolskaya Street), which has been preserved in its original form. The complex consists of two identical two-story brick buildings with unusual motifs containing pseudo-gothic elements.

Also of note is the early 20th-century Treasury Building, a luxurious red brick structure with openwork balconies that exudes an architectural grace.

Khabarovsk also has many Soviet-era buildings which were mostly designed in the constructivism style. Characterized by their enormous size and grotesque shapes, they often occupy most of the block and dominate the surrounding space.

During your Khabarovsk excursion, be sure to appreciate its unique architectural heritage by going for a walk downtown .

Khabarovsk Attractions

Khabarovsk, Russia

The layout of Khabarovsk is very simple: its 3 main streets of Lenin, Muravyov-Amursky and Seryshev pass through the downtown area, while Ussuriysky and Amur Boulevards run perpendicular to them. A distinctive feature of Khabarovsk are its many hills, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes for your walk.

Begin your walking tour of Khabarovsk from the train station, where you can see the monument to Yerofey Khabarov, the famous explorer for whom the city is named. Nearby is a sculpture of a double-headed eagle, erected in memory of soldiers, officers and builders of the Far Eastern Railway. Moving from the station along Amur Boulevard you will reach the central market, just past which is Lenin Square. A spacious area with a granite fountain in the center, it is the main plaza of Khabarovsk and the site of the city’s Christmas and New Year celebrations. Next to the square is Dynamo Park, famous for its three ponds and Ferris wheel.

From Lenin Square, move along Muravyov-Amursky Street to reach Amur Embankment, passing most of Khabarovsk’s famous 19th-20th century buildings along the way. Descend to the embankment via two grand staircases or make a small detour onto Shevchenko Street, where you can follow the slope until you reach the embankment’s main stretch. Among other things, the area is home to the House of Officers and three museums.

As you move along the embankment through a park you will come across the city symbol of Khabarovsk, a building set on a steep cliff above the Amur River. It was at the foot of this cliff that the founders of a military post, the first semblance of civilization in the area, first landed.

After reaching the river and walking along Ussuriysky Boulevard to Turgenev Street, turn right to reach Glory Square. Here you will find another famous Khabarovsk landmark, Transfiguration Cathedral, along with a magnificent view of the Amur River and its dreamy islands. Glory Square concludes the main walking route of Khabarovsk, but from here you can reach any part of the city by public transport or taxi .

Khabarovsk Cultural Life

Khabarovsk, Russia

Khabarovsk entertainment centers around its many theaters and museums. Visit Khabarovsk Museum of Local Lore to get a better glimpse of city and regional life. Children and adults alike will want to visit Fishes of Amur River Museum, an aquarium which is home to some 90 species of the underwater world. To catch the vibe of local artists, head to the Far Eastern Art Museum.

There are several theaters in Khabarovsk, each of which is worth visiting:

  • Khabarovsk Regional Puppet Theater;
  • Triad Pantomime Theater;
  • Khabarovsk Regional Philharmonic;
  • White Theater, and others.

In addition, Khabarovsk offers several concert halls, culture houses, cinemas and art institutions .

Khabarovsk Souvenirs

While the city’s souvenir selection is not as diverse as in other Russian cities, guests can still find something suited to their tastes on their tour to Khabarovsk. Amur River and the Sea of Japan offer an abundance of seafood that can be tasted on the spot or brought home in dried or smoked form. Yet it is the rich culture of the local indigenous peoples which provides the largest selection of national souvenirs.

If you’re looking for an original gift, traditional Nanai slippers are comfortable and warm. Sewn from leather or fabric and decorated in a bright, colorful style before being trimmed with fur, they make the perfect house shoes in winter. Traditional decorations include amulets which are made from animal bones, fur or fabrics and decorated with ribbons and colored beads.

Standard souvenirs like plates, magnets, mugs and flasks stamped with images of Khabarovsk or its coat of arms can be purchased in souvenir shops, which are mostly located downtown and at the airport and railway station.
