The hustle of everyday life can be overwhelming. The solution? A visit to a destination spa. Unlike typical hotel spas where you toggle between the real world and fleeting moments of tranquility, destination spas immerse you in an environment of complete rejuvenation. And while some offer the occasional indulgence (glass of wine, anyone?), most focus on promoting clean, healthy living with holistic experiences designed to engage the senses, soothe the mind, and revitalize the spirit.

In the latest installment of AFAR’s Hotels We Love series, we’ve scoured the globe to find the 15 best destination spas. From secluded retreats in quiet pockets of the USA to a drop-out wellness island (yes, a whole island ) in the Maldives, these sanctuaries offer more than relaxation—they’re a gateway to a world of serenity that rejuvenates both body and soul.

  • Location: Tucson, Arizona
  • Why we love it: A pioneering haven for transformation

Canyon Ranch Tucson helped popularize the idea of the luxury health spa when it launched in 1979 in Tucson, Arizona. After embarking on a personal transformation after the death of his father, founder Mel Zuckerman bought and renovated an old ranch in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains to share his newfound insights with others.

At Canyon Ranch, you can tailor your experience to your own wellness goals, or choose from various camps and retreats. The all-inclusive experience encompasses nutritious meals and a wide array of classes, workshops, and therapies designed to push your physical and mental boundaries. You can also book first-rate treatments (Himalayan salt stone massage, Reiki, age-defying facial) and get a health evaluation from an integrative physician. Guests stay in the 165 guest rooms and suites, which have serene desert hues. Canyon Ranch’s footprint continues to grow: There’s a second location in Lenox, Massachusetts , a Canyon Ranch Day Spa in Las Vegas , a retreat in Woodside, California , and another location opening soon in Texas Hill Country . From $1,150 a night, including all meals and daily activities (lectures, workout classes, and more)

Wellness here is holistic and immersive: The Miraval Equine Experience involves working with horses in a way that allows guests to notice their own personal patterns and inhibitions, while Discover Your Dosha teaches guests about their Ayurvedic constitutional type (dosha) and how it can be optimized for health and well-being. The resort also offers workshops on nutrition and sleep, both nourished during a stay. Miraval’s mantra of mindful living is apparent in its programming and its commitment to sustainability, including 100 percent renewable electricity and food waste composted to support the on-site garden. The formula has been successful: Miraval has outposts in the Berkshires and Austin . From $859 per person per night, including meals, activities, a $175 nightly credit to use toward experiences and spa treatments

  • Location: Malibu, California
  • Why we love it: A luxe boot camp for holistic transformation
  • Loyalty program: none

Set on 200 sprawling acres in California’s Santa Monica Mountains, the Ranch Malibu is a structured program focusing on fitness and weight loss that some people jokingly call “a high-end boot camp.” Catering to a maximum of 25 guests per week, the Ranch offers a very private environment that’s perfect for celebrities and wellness enthusiasts seeking discretion.

The 21 cottages are stripped down and designed for unplugging—think a neutral color palette and no TVs. Days begin with an early wake-up call for a two- or four-hour morning hike, followed by yoga, workout classes, meditation, massages, and more. When it comes to food, less is more, with vegan meals created for detoxing. It’s all part of a deliberate approach to nutrition, reinforced by weekly cooking classes where guests can learn the secrets of the property’s plant-based cuisine (all sourced from the on-site regenerative organic garden and local farms).

Coffee used to be a no-no here, but the Ranch is now serving an in-house roast with antioxidant-rich benefits. Another new elective offering: colon hydrotherapy. All in all, it’s a structured program that encourages guests to disconnect from their busy lives and reconnect with their health and well-being in a luxurious setting. From $7,600 per person (based on double occupancy) for a six-night stay, including food and activities

  • Location: San Marcos, California
  • Why we love it: An iconic Japanese-inspired retreat

Golden Door , affectionately known as “the Door,” is more than a spa; it’s a sanctuary of tranquility and transformation set on 600 acres of hills and Japanese gardens north of San Diego. This exclusive retreat has been a wellness haven since the 1950s when it attracted icons like Elizabeth Taylor. Experiences are centered around seven-day retreats (a time deemed essential for a complete reset), though guests can book shorter three-to-five-night stays if the property isn’t full. It’s aimed at women, but there are special men’s and coed weeks throughout the year.

Here, the balance between physical activity and pampering is artfully maintained. The retreat offers innovative culinary experiences, including a new series featuring renowned women guest chefs and cookbook authors, who collaborate with executive chef Greg Frey Jr. to create nourishing, locally sourced meals.

Recently, Golden Door underwent a multimillion dollar renovation, overhauling its bathhouse and pools and updating its 38 rooms, two villas, and gym—all while preserving its Japanese ryokan aesthetic. Committed to sustainability and social causes, Golden Door actively protects the surrounding lands and donates 100 percent of net proceeds to charities aiding abused children. From $7,200 per person (single occupancy) for a three-night stay, including meals, some treatments and activities

The 20 Best Destination Spas

If you're hoping to shed a few inches—or simply kickstart a healthier lifestyle—here's where to go.

Lake Austin Spa Resort

Property, Home, Lighting, Estate, Real estate, Swimming pool, House, Building, Residential area, Resort,

If you had a rich uncle with great taste who just happened to own a sun-drenched lake house in the Texas Hill Country, the Lake Austin Spa Resort would be it. After a walk in the flower, herb, and vegetable garden and some time spent gazing out at the Balcones Canyonlands Nature Preserve from the spa's light-filled Blue Room lounge, you'll never want to leave. Lake Austin also has something that no other spa in North America can truly claim: a water view. Nothing relaxes like time on a lake (or looking at a lake, for that matter) and whether you want to paddle board, pedal-board, or just do yoga on the dock, it's all there for the taking. The food is plentiful and garden-fresh—literally, often picked minutes before preparing.

We Care Detox Spa

Bathtub, Room, Leg, Leisure, Jacuzzi, House, Interior design, Plumbing fixture, Bathroom, Resort,

READ REVIEWS Desert Hot Springs, CA

To detox like the red-carpet-ready stars of Hollywood, head to the desert about 125 miles north of Los Angeles. Leave your fork and knife at the entrance (and your squeamishness). The entire program here is based on juice fasting—oh, and colonics. While that might sound painfully abstemious or downright torturous, We Care has a few key things going for it. First, it works: guests looking to reset their bodies and minds emerge after long-weekend "tune-up" or weeklong "retreats" with enviably flatter bellies—thanks to a 1-3 pound per day weight loss— as well as clearer heads and brighter eyes and skin. Credit goes to both the clean liquid diet and to the raft of classes offered, including breath work, Reiki, sound-healing, yoga of every flavor, "creative visioning," and even sessions about transitioning back to solid food. Also, it's straight up gorgeous, surrounded by palm trees, cacti, flowering vines, and dramatic mountain vistas in the distance. About the colonics: they're not mandatory, but most packages include at least two. Wander the labyrinth walk, amble over to the far-infrared sauna, or just rest between classes on a floating bed and let the motion rock you to sleep. One unique spa treatment to try: Raindrop therapy, in which 9 essential oils are dropped in sequence along the spinal column and then massaged in specific directions, to help with inflammation, immune system, and breathing.

The Lodge at Woodloch

Swimming pool, Building, Property, Leisure centre, Architecture, Real estate, Leisure, Room, Interior design, Resort,

READ REVIEWS Hawley, PA

It used to be that New Yorkers searching for a luxurious destination spa experience had to board a plane, until the Lodge at Woodloch (just two hours from NYC) arrived in 2006 with 57 nature-inspired rooms (each with a private veranda) and a 40,000-square-foot spa. The 150 wooded acres feature a private lake, and there's no stone unturned in terms of what you can do to get healthy: golf, kayaking, fly fishing, snowshoeing, bathing in the hydro massage pools, spin and yoga sessions. Want more? There's an archery range, a Healing Garden, a Pollinator Garden, a Hammock Grove, an orchard, and a farm-to-table garden with buzzing honeybee hives. Once you're tired out, check if Power Napping class is on the schedule and grab some shuteye. There are no calorie counts on the menus at the three-meal-a-day Tree restaurant, but the waistline-friendly cuisine comes from the hands of a French Culinary Institute-trained chef, so it doesn't disappoint discerning gourmands.

The Ranch Malibu

Living room, Room, Interior design, Furniture, White, Property, Floor, Wall, Ceiling, House,

READ REVIEWS Malibu, CA

As you lace up your hiking boots and set off for a strenuous but scenic hike in the Santa Monica Mountains, don't expect a hearty trailside snack. The Ranch Malibu is one of those handful-of-almonds programs—a luxury but no-messing-around boot camp for Type As and A-listers that only takes 18 guests a week, during which time you'll forgo things like cellphones, coffee, soda, and email. The simple but beautiful private cottages come with a daily aphorism placed on pillows, and you'll need all the shut-eye you can get. There's hiking in the morning, followed by strength conditioning, yoga, or circuit training in the afternoon for a total of 8 hours of activity. Thankfully, a scheduled hour of naptime as well as daily restorative massages are also on the itinerary. Guests report that the vegan and plant-based food—however scarce—is imaginative and delicious, and there are never any leftovers.

Sitting, Leisure, Architecture, Furniture, Landscape, Building, House,

READ REVIEWS Sedona, AZ

Those in search of balance, mental clarity, and a hefty dose of pampering will find all three at this Mii Amo , a red rock country resort located amongst the towering rock formations and mystical "vortexes" of Boynton Canyon. These storied spots have such swirling, powerful energy that they're said to help people take huge leaps with spiritual development. But even if you don't buy into all that, you'll love the 16 meticulously appointed rooms, and the menu of more than 100 weekly activities—from hiking and biking, to indulging in the prickly pear butter wrap at the spa. You'll have access to the aptly named Enchantment Resort, and guests say you don't want to miss the morning ritual at the Crystal Grotto, where therapists guide you to set a daily intention through meditation and smudging with fragrant eucalyptus.

Canyon Ranch

Home, Property, Real estate, House, Residential area, Lighting, Sky, Estate, Building, Tree,

READ REVIEWS Tucson, AZ

The term destination spa is virtually synonymous with a trip to this Canyon Ranch , the industry's unrivaled grande dame. Here, you'll find some of the most knowledgeable and cutting-edge experts in the country, from leading fitness instructors to top doctors in charge of medical assessments. Expect early morning hikes in the high desert, QT in the 80,000-square-foot spa and the chance to test your limits on the High Ropes Adventure Course. (Yes, there's a zip line.) If losing weight is a goal, you'll no doubt shed some, thanks to the delicious but portion-controled cuisine. Coming with your mom, who hates every sport but loves tee-time? Send her over to the 3,400-square-foot Gold Performance Center to practice her swing.

Miraval Resort & Spa

Property, House, Home, Architecture, Real estate, Sky, Building, Furniture, Interior design, Room,

Ever used a horse's flank as your canvas? Sign up for one of the Equine Experiences at Miraval , and you can grab a brush and start painting the side of a horse. That's just one of the entirely unique (and surprisingly centering) experiences you can have at this luxury spa in the Sonoran desert. With the Santa Catalina mountains in the distance, this 118-room resort is not only known for being a favorite of celebrities like Oprah, but for actually allowing you to have drink or two while you're there. (Many other spas restrict booze altogether, or insist you only drink in your room.) Whether you want to learn to cook, rock climb, meditate, bee-keep (seriously), or just work out so much that you sweat out all the bad stuff you've been up to, you can do it here.

Rancho La Puerta

Property, Lighting, Tree, Resort, Landscape, Landscape lighting, Swimming pool, Real estate, Estate, Leisure,

READ REVIEWS Tecate, Mexico

There's something about crossing over that border from San Diego: the flowers are just that much brighter, the sunshine more sparkly. Those who call Rancho La Puerta their "happy place" come back again and again. This 4,000-acre property (owned by the same family for more than 80 years) is just 45 miles southeast of San Diego, and encompasses a tapestry of mountains, meadows, and gardens. The property's motto, "siempre mejor"— always better, but always changing— is reflected in the guests' desire to spend their days challenged, yet pampered. Don't miss the spa's Xocolatl Skin Replenishment treatment, where you actually get to whip up the chocolate mask the therapist will use in the treatment.

Swimming pool, Resort, Leisure, Property, Resort town, Water, Reflecting pool, Vacation, Villa, Spa town,

READ REVIEWS Vista, CA

You may be in a quiet suburb just north of San Diego, but the aesthetic of Cal-a-Vie , at least in terms of décor, is all French country chic. That's no accident, since the entire 30-year-old resort is designed to look and feel like a quaint Provençal village. And as befitting the French, the Cal-a-Vie way is gracious and relaxed, with an occasional hit of intensity. Start your day at 6am by hiking through the canyon right in the resort's 440-acre backyard, then indulge in a vinothérapie-based spa treatment—massages, wraps, and scrubs with body products made from resort-grown grapes. This is an intimate but casual setting—there are only 32 guest rooms—and with a 5:1 staff-to-guest ratio, there's plenty of attention and guidance.

Sundara Inn & Spa

Property, Resort, Home, House, Building, Architecture, Room, Real estate, Vacation, Roof,

READ REVIEWS Wisconsin Dells, WI

This Midwest gem has made a big impact in the world of destination spas. For one thing, Sundara's presence means that just because you live in the heartland you don't have to hop on a plane for a full-blown spa experience. (It's about a 4-hour drive from Chicago, a 2-hour drive from Milwaukee, and a 3.5-hour drive from Minneapolis.) Located amongst 26 acres of fragrant pine forests in the Wisconsin Dells, the spa goes for an East-meets-Midwest vibe, taking inspiration from Ayurveda principles (Sundara means beautiful in Sanskrit), plus an abundance of Feng shui. Think curved walls, open space and light, anything to help you relax and unplug. (Speaking of unplugging: no devices are allowed in any public areas of the property.) The entire experience is one of plush and hushed beauty: quiet hikes, swimming in the infinity-edge pool, wandering along the meditation trail or the tranquility garden, and sinking into the down featherbeds come turndown time. Look for freshly brewed nighttime tea and caramels on your pillow.

The team helps each guest detox and set better eating habits with holistic and tailored plans. Bonus: treatments are centered around the healing properties of the local salt.

Harmony with the natural environment is one of the signatures of the properties in the Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio, the most luxurious of the brand's hotels. So are their fabulous spas, which are built as sprawling world-within-a-world complexes complete with full-size pools, jacuzzis, and unique spaces and treatments that allude to the destination's culture. In the case of Zadun 's 30,000-square-foot Spa Alkemia, this translates to the new Templo de Calor, inside which a shaman leads an Ancestral Temazcal Purification Ritual that includes an energy cleansing ceremony, traditional chanting, detoxification achieved via the heated space, and an outdoor shower to enhance blood flow and stimulate the immune system.

From city sanctuaries to desert retreats, these are the best luxury hotel spas for every type of traveler

Editor's Note

The smell of lemongrass, the sound of cascading water and the feel of a fluffy bathrobe evoke instant warm fuzzies. For travelers stepping off a long-haul flight or just craving some rest and relaxation after a frenetic holiday season, a spa session is the antidote to whatever ails you.

As we begin 2024, wellness is undoubtedly front and center for many people. As such, there's no better time than now to plan a getaway that combines wanderlust and wellness.

With a spike in demand, hotel spas around the world are stepping up their treatment options, vying to give guests wholly and holistically unique experiences. Whether you're headed to the lush jungles of Bali or the majestic mountains of Bhutan , here are our spa picks for every type of traveler.

Best jungle spa: Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bali

travel resort spa

Bali has become a reprieve for those seeking a dose of spirituality or looking to perfect their downward dog (thanks, Julia Roberts). In the heart of the island, beside Ubud's cascading rice terraces and the gentle flow of the Ayung River, is the Mandapa Spa.

Fringed by palm trees, jungle ferns and sounds of the rainforest, this Ritz-Carlton spa embraces the tranquility and ingredients of its jungle backdrop. It's a place where a Balinese healer can tend to your every ache and pain, though you can also opt for a traditional indulgence, such as a 24-karat gold age-defying facial or the Beras Kencur, a Balinese rice exfoliation.

How to book : Cash rates at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve start at $1,157 or 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Royal Palms Resort & Spa Review: Is It the Best Romantic Getaway In Phoenix?

A re you looking for a romantic getaway in Phoenix or Scottsdale? Today I’m sharing one that’s hard to beat! We’ve visited the Valley of the Sun more times than I can count over the decades, but we were lucky to sneak away for a kid-free weekend recently. We were looking for pure relaxation with a dash of desert beauty, and Scottsdale’s Royal Palms Resort & Spa fit the bill to a T.

In this Royal Palms Resort & Spa review, I’ll give you the rundown of everything you need to know before booking or staying!

About Royal Palms Resort & Spa

The Royal Palms Resort & Spa has just 119 guest rooms and occupies a property that started off as a private home nearly a century ago. It has undergone expansion and renovation but you still feel like you’re stepping back in time when you walk up the stairs. The entire property simultaneously exudes warmth and elegance, and there’s an Insta-worthy photo op around every corner. It’s truly beautiful, with fountains and tile work everywhere.

The hotel is located just 20 minutes from the Phoenix airport at the foot of Camelback Mountain. Once you’re inside the hotel’s walls, you wouldn’t know that you’re in the middle of one of America’s largest cities!

Rooms at Royal Palms

Royal Palms offers a huge range of rooms, casitas, suites and villas. Even the most basic rooms – which we booked – are well-appointed and clock in at nearly 500 square feet.

Because of the way we booked (more on that later) we were upgraded to a casita with two patios, one facing the beautiful Arcadia courtyard and the other a private walled terrace off the bathroom.

Our room also featured a fireplace, soaking tub, double shower and a walk-in closet with a mini fridge – perfect for chilling the water bottles that were thankfully replenished twice per day. Apparently it’s a special premium casita (room 123) because it’s connected to the Presidential Villa. The two share an entrance, which is otherwise private.

In an era when most hotels are cutting back on service, Royal Palms really excels. Not only was our room tidied in the morning while we enjoyed brunch, but turndown service was provided every evening as well – with extra waters constantly provided to keep us hydrated in the desert heat. The housekeeping staff is so on their game that they bring around a leaf blower to remove fallen bougainvillea petals from the private patios as they go. It’s truly an attention to detail I’ve never seen.

Dining at Royal Palms Scottsdale

The on-site food at Royal Palms is great overall as well. The main dining venue is T. Cook’s, which serves up daily brunch and dinner. We ate brunch there both mornings of our stay and overall really loved the food – I’m a sucker for a good avocado toast and a mimosa to kick off the day. While we didn’t get to try it, the burger has an excellent reputation. The courtyard in the back is exactly as charming as you’d expect, and the misting fans make it a pleasant place to sit even when temperatures rise to triple digits (as they did during our June visit).

The Mix Up bar is attached to T. Cook’s and offers a pared down version of that menu (in addition to the extensive craft cocktail list). They serve up excellent fish tacos, and I have to give a nod to the extremely nice staff working there! It’s the perfect place for a late-night dessert while you enjoy the live music on weekends.

We didn’t love the poolside dining at Cabana Cafe as much as the others, but it’s served by a different kitchen. The cocktails are unexpectedly strong though!

Things to do at Royal Palms Hotel in Scottsdale

While there are plenty of things to do in Scottsdale, on this trip I’ll be honest and say that Royal Palms was our main destination! It’s an awesome place to relax and feel like you’re doing vacation right .

Be sure to book yourself for a massage in the spa, and you can also consider signing up for a complementary yoga class. The spa also offers a hot tub and steam room in each locker room, though the women’s steam room wasn’t working when I visited. We were very happy with our couples massage and would recommend it.

We had a great time at the mixology class, which is free for hotel guests and offered daily – the amount of prep work the bartenders put into preparing creative ingredients in-house is really incredible. Each participant selects one cocktail from the menu that they’d like to learn how to make, and the bartender explains every ingredient as well as the proper tools and techniques. It was fun and we learned a lot as well! Sign up here to ensure a spot. Some days there’s also a free history tour of the property, but it wasn’t offered during our visit.

Unless you visit in the winter, you’ll undoubtedly spend some time in the pool at Royal Palms. It’s not fancy but it gets the job done for the adult guests. There are plenty of deck chairs, but I’d say not enough umbrellas that aren’t for the cabanas. We had no problem finding shady chairs in the morning, and when we returned in the afternoon some shady chairs opened up about 15 minutes after we got in the pool. That said, the daybeds and cabanas are pretty reasonably priced if you want to treat yourself to some shade for the day – you can check prices and book here (note that holidays can be much more expensive). Because you’re able. to book day passes, it’s a popular spot for locals to visit on the weekend.

If part of your personal relaxation includes exercise, there’s a two story fitness center adjacent to the pool (in addition to fitness and yoga classes offered through the spa). It has weights, treadmills, climbers and even a Peloton bike.

It’s worth noting that parking is $38 per night and only valet is offered. That’s middle of the road as far as nice hotels go, but it’s worth weighing whether or not to bother renting a car. The hotel is not even 20 minutes from the Phoenix airport and we only paid $30-40 each way for Lyft Extra Comfort rides. If you plan to do all the things I suggest in this itinerary it may be more economical to rent a car , but if you plan to spend more time at the hotel then you can probably forgo it this time.

Get my best tips for how to save on rental cars every time!

How to Book Royal Palms Resort & Spa

I promised that I’d discuss how to book Royal Palms Resort & Spa, because it turns out there’s some strategy involved. This hotel is part of the Hyatt hotel group in its Unbound Collection – I love this unique, often historic properties!

Cash bookings

If you aren’t particularly loyal to Hyatt, you can check the cash price at Expedia . It’s easy to reach their Silver status by booking a few activities and a hotel stay here and there, and that’ll land you a discount on your room (lots of travelers have status with Expedia without even realizing it!). Even better, if you time your booking right you can often snag 10% cash back by going through Rakuten .

Another option if you have the World of Hyatt business credit card is use your Leverage small business discount code to book directly with Hyatt. This discount has saved me several thousand dollars in the last year alone, and the Leverage rate for Royal Palms is also a compelling one at 15% off the standard rate despite being a refundable booking. The card comes with two $50 Hyatt credits per year, which will come in handy for spa service and on-site dining.

Booking on points

If you’re visiting during popular times, you may be best off redeeming Hyatt points – earn them through the Chase Sapphire credit card (especially combined with Chase Freedom Unlimited and Chase Ink Business cards ) and then transfer to your World of Hyatt account. Hyatt doesn’t charge a resort fee on award stays, so your out of pocket cost for the hotel is $0!

You can also rack up Hyatt points with the World of Hyatt business credit card or the Hyatt personal card. I have both and use them regularly!

The best “secret” deal

If you’re visiting at a time when cash prices are relatively low (like summer), there’s a great trick for booking that we used – and so did almost everyone we met at the hotel! If you hold an Amex Platinum card (either personal or business) you can book Fine Hotels & Resorts through the Amex Travel portal. You’ll still be able to enter your Hyatt member number and get any benefits associated with your tier, but you’ll also get some amazing VIP benefits:

  • room upgrade
  • breakfast for two
  • $100 property credit (perfect for your spa treatment or dinner!)
  • early check in and late check out

The rate is often a little higher than booking normally but it comes with serious perks, especially if you don’t have Hyatt Globalist status. If you do have Globalist status, know that you won’t have to pay the resort fee per your benefits. If you have the personal Amex Platinum card, once per year you’ll get a $200 statement credit toward a Fine Hotels & Resorts booking – a crazy good deal. At the time of our visit there was an additional offer on Amex Platinum cards for a $100 statement credit toward a $400 charge from a Hyatt Unbound property.

Since I’m all about transparency, I’ll share that our Amex FHR booking was $445 for two nights in June, but we essentially got $200 of that back to use toward spa and dining. If we had used a personal Amex Platinum card, we would have gotten back another $200 once per year. Talk about a deal!

A quick note for Hyatt lovers: FHR bookings do count as nights toward achieving/retaining your Hyatt status. They do not earn base points on the room rate. You’ll earn 5x Amex Membership Rewards on the room rate and you’ll earn 5x Hyatt points (plus your tier bonus) for on-property spend.

$200 Hotel Credit:  Basic Card Members on U.S. Consumer Platinum Card Account are eligible to receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year when they or Additional Platinum Card Members use their Cards to pay for eligible prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection bookings made through American Express Travel (meaning through amextravel.com, the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card) or when Companion Platinum Card Members on such Platinum Card Accounts pay for eligible prepaid bookings for The Hotel Collection made through American Express Travel (meaning through amextravel.com, the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card). Please note, access to the benefit may take up to 24 hours to take effect on your Card after Account opening. Purchases by both the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on the Card Account are eligible for statement credits. However, the total amount of statement credits for eligible purchases will not exceed $200 per calendar year, per Card Account. Fine Hotels + Resorts® program bookings may be made only by eligible U.S. Consumer Basic Platinum and Additional Platinum Card Members. The Hotel Collection bookings may be made by eligible U.S. Consumer Basic and Additional Platinum Card Members and Companion Platinum Card Members on the Platinum Card Account. Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Card Members are not eligible for the benefit. To receive the statement credits, an eligible Card Member must make a new booking using their eligible Card through American Express Travel on or after July 1st, 2021, that is prepaid (referred to as "Pay Now" on amextravel.com and the Amex App), for a qualifying stay at an available, participating Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection property. Bookings of The Hotel Collection require a minimum stay of two consecutive nights. Eligible bookings must be processed before December 31st, 11:59PM Central Time, each calendar year to be eligible for statement credits within that year. Eligible bookings do not include interest charges, cancellation fees, property fees or other similar fees, or any charges by a property to you (whether for your booking, your stay or otherwise).

Statement credits are typically received within a few days, however it may take 90 days after an eligible prepaid hotel booking is charged to the Card Account. American Express relies on the merchant’s processing of transactions to determine the transaction date. The transaction date may differ from the date you made the purchase if, for example, there is a delay in the merchant submitting the transaction to us or if the merchant uses another date as the transaction date. This means that in some cases your purchase may not earn the statement credit benefit for the benefit period in which you made the purchase. For example, if an eligible purchase is made on December 31st but the merchant processes the transaction such that it is identified to us as occurring on January 1st, then the statement credit available in the next calendar year will be applied. Statement credits may not be received or may be reversed if the booking is cancelled or modified. If the Card Account is canceled or past due, it may not qualify to receive a statement credit. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as eligible, you will not receive the statement credits. For example, your transaction will not be eligible if it is a booking: (i) made with a property not included in the Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection programs, (ii) not made through American Express Travel, or (iii) not made with an eligible Card. Participating properties and their availability are subject to change. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide and may reverse any statement credits provided to you. If a charge for an eligible purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Card Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead, the statement credit may be applied to your Pay In Full balance. Please refer to  AmericanExpress.com/FHR  and  AmericanExpress.com/HC  for more information about Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection, respectively.

5X Membership Rewards® Points Platinum Card:  Basic Card Members will get 1 Membership Rewards® point for each dollar charged for eligible purchases on their Platinum Card® or an Additional Card on their Account and 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar charged for eligible travel purchases on any Card on the Account (“Additional Points”), minus cancellations and credits. Eligible travel purchases are limited to: (i) purchases of air tickets on scheduled flights, of up to $500,000 in charges per calendar year, booked directly with passenger airlines or through American Express Travel (by calling 1-800-525-3355 or through AmexTravel.com); (ii) purchases of prepaid hotel reservations booked through American Express Travel; and (iii) purchases of prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com. Eligible travel purchases do not include: charter flights, private jet flights, flights that are part of tours, cruises, or travel packages (other than prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com), ticketing or similar service fees, ticket cancellation or change fees, property fees or similar fees, hotel group reservations or events, interest charges, or purchases of cash equivalents. Eligible prepaid hotel bookings or prepaid flight+hotel bookings that are modified directly with the hotel will not be eligible for Additional Points.

Bonuses that may be received with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express cannot be combined with this benefit. Any portion of a charge that the Basic Card Member elects to cover through redemption of Membership Rewards points is not eligible to receive points. Additional terms and restrictions apply.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for Additional Points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn Additional Points if the merchant’s code is not included in an Additional Points category. Basic Card Members may not receive Additional Points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an Additional Points category. For example, you may not receive Additional Points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services, a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers), or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit in any way American Express may remove access to this benefit from the Account. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card or visit americanexpress.com/rewards-info for more information about rewards.

5X Membership Rewards Points for Business Platinum Card:  You will get one point for each dollar charged for an eligible purchase on your Business Platinum Card® from American Express. You will get 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar spent on eligible travel purchases. Eligible travel purchases include scheduled flights and prepaid flight+hotel packages made online at AmexTravel.com, minus returns and other credits. Additionally, eligible travel purchases include prepaid hotel purchases made through American Express Travel, over the phone with our Travel Consultants or made online at AmexTravel.com, minus returns and other credits. Eligible travel purchases do NOT include non-prepaid hotel bookings, scheduled flights and prepaid flight+hotel packages over the phone, vacation packages, car rentals, cruise, hotel group reservations or events, ticketing service, cancellation or other fees, interest charges, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. To be eligible for the 5x Membership Rewards® points, you must both reserve and charge the travel purchase with the same eligible Business Platinum Card®. To modify a reservation you must cancel and rebook your reservation. You can cancel and rebook your reservation on AmexTravel.com or by calling a representative of AmexTravel.com at 1-800-297-2977. Cancellations are subject to hotel cancellation penalty policies. If hotel reservations are made or modified directly with the hotel provider, the reservation will not be eligible for this 5X Membership Rewards® point benefit. To be eligible to receive extra points, Card account(s) must not be cancelled or past due at the time of extra points fulfillment. If booking is cancelled, the extra points will be deducted from the Membership Rewards account. Extra points will be credited to the Membership Rewards account approximately 6-10 weeks after eligible purchases appear on the billing statement. Bonuses you may receive with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express may not be combined with this benefit. The benefits associated with the Additional Card(s) you choose may be different than the benefits associated with your basic Card. To learn about the benefits associated with Additional Card(s) you choose, please call the number on the back of your Card.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for additional points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn additional points if the merchant’s code is not included in an additional points category. You may not receive additional points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an additional points category. For example, you may not receive additional points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

Please visit  americanexpress.com/rewards-info  for more information about rewards.

Pay with Points:  To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards® program-enrolled American Express® Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding dollar amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used. If points redeemed do not cover entire amount, the balance of purchase price will remain on the American Express Card account. Minimum redemption 5,000 points.

See  membershiprewards.com/terms  for the Membership Rewards program terms and conditions.

If a charge for a purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Linked Account the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead the statement credit may be applied to your Pay in Full balance. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us by calling the number on the back of your Card. Corporate Card Members are not eligible for Pay Over Time.

Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards® program apply. Visit  membershiprewards.com/terms  for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice.

The Top 15 Domestic Spas in 2021

travel resort spa

Note: If you’re looking for our most recent recommendations, check out the 2023 list of our favorite domestic destination spas .

This year's World's Best Awards survey was open for voting January 11 through May 10, 2021, as destinations around the world were lifting COVID-19 restrictions. Survey rules have always allowed readers to reflect on their travel experiences over a three-year period. We hope that this year's honorees will inspire your own travels as you get back out into the world.

Each property we feature has been independently selected and reviewed by our editorial team. If you make a purchase using the links included, we may earn commission.

Who couldn't use some relaxation right now? Spa vacations offer a chance to disconnect from the everyday and to embrace a slower pace and get a little pampering — although, some spas certainly specialize in athletic pursuits, if you want to challenge your body. The good news is that you don't have to travel far: there are dozens of world-class spas right here in the U.S., and many have been named best spas by Travel + Leisure readers.

Every year for our World's Best Awards survey , T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. In the destination spas category, readers rated properties on their accommodations and facilities, treatments, service, food, and overall value.

Many of our readers' favorite domestic spas are located in the West and Southwest, with three in Arizona, and two in California, New Mexico, and Texas each. Hilton Head Health in South Carolina (No. 7), Westglow Resort & Spa (No. 14) in North Carolina, and Carillon Miami Wellness Resort (No. 12) earned high marks for all-around stellar service and amenities. One reader remarked that the Carillon team still "knocked it out of the park," even with COVID-19 safety protocols in place: "Best spa experience with new experiences that are contactless, too, which is great for these challenging times."

In the Northeast, the Lodge at Woodloch in Hawley, Pennsylvania, captured readers' hearts for its excellent bedding and impressive list of activities, including hikes , aerobics, meditation , and yoga . This year's No. 8 also earned praise for its instructors' patience and careful attention: "They are absolutely experts in their various disciplines, and they all will listen to you and modify to help you along." One guest reported staying there 15 times.

Just an hour from Santa Fe, No. 7 Ojo Caliente — one of the oldest mineral-spring resorts in the U.S. — was described as "a diamond tucked away in the New Mexico landscape." What keeps guests returning year after year? It's a combination of the numerous soaking pools, the serene beauty of the desert setting, the casual-chic wine bar and restaurant, and the feeling of being away from it all. "Some things you cannot describe and simply have to experience to understand," proclaimed one visitor. "Ojo Caliente is the one place I can say this about."

But of all the wellness properties in the United States, Shou Sugi Ban House took the top spot this year. Read on for more about what makes it special — and for the full list of the best spas in the United States.

1. Shou Sugi Ban House, Water Mill, New York

Known for its delicious culinary program , this 13-room Japanese-inspired retreat opened in the Hamptons in May 2019 and has been on readers' radars ever since. Shou Sugi earned top marks for being both intimate and, as one voter summarized, a "completely immersive experience." The spa has infrared and dry saunas, a steam room, an ice fountain, and plunge pools. Along with dozens of bodywork treatments, activities include yoga classes; sound therapy and energy healing with crystals and tuning forks; hypnotherapy; and intuitive painting.

I stayed in 2 of Arizona's top hotels. They explain why Scottsdale is a luxury travel hot spot.

  • Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, Arizona, offer luxury travel experiences.
  • The vast majority of hotel rooms in both Phoenix suburbs are upscale.
  • I stayed in the area's top-rated hotels, the Phoenician and the Hermosa Inn. They epitomized luxury.

Insider Today

Secret exits, private outdoor spaces, high-tech golf carts, dramatic chandeliers, award-winning restaurants , and cowboy artifacts — I saw them all during my trip to Scottsdale without leaving my hotel.

Tourists travel to Arizona for luxury resorts, spas, and golf clubs, Condé Nast Traveler reported in 2023 .

Scottsdale , in particular, draws affluent travelers with its health and wellness scene, upscale dining experiences, and top-tier golf courses. So, it's no wonder the area caters to high-end travel.

Scottsdale has more luxurious hotel rooms than standard ones — 80% of the city's 12,500 rooms are classified as luxury level or higher (upscale and upper upscale), according to a Scottsdale tourism report published in 2022 in partnership with Experience Scottsdale , a travel company that has helped establish the city's luxe tourism reputation.

The only place in the area with a higher concentration of luxury accommodations than Scottsdale — 90% of rooms — is Paradise Valley, the wealthier suburb between Phoenix and Scottsdale.

But tourists see Paradise Valley as a part of Scottsdale, according to the report — probably because the towns are close together and offer comparable pampering experiences and jaw-dropping views.

I recently spent two nights in Arizona and booked one night in each suburb's top luxury hotel.

I spent my first night at the Phoenician in Scottsdale , a luxury Marriott Hotel dubbed "Arizona's leading resort" in the 2023 World Travel Awards .

On day two, I headed to Paradise Valley to stay at the boutique Hermosa Inn , which Travel + Leisure called the best hotel in Arizona in 2023.

These similar superlatives made me think the Phoenician and the Hermosa Inn would provide comparable luxury experiences . In reality, the two hotels were completely different.

Still, both showed me why these Phoenix suburbs are hot spots for wealthy travelers.

In Scottsdale, I stayed at the Phoenician — an upscale mega-resort.

travel resort spa

The multimillion-dollar luxury Marriott Hotel opened in 1988 and has been renovated several times to amp up its upscale offerings — most recently in 2018.

The Phoenician has 645 rooms on its 600-acre property at the base of Camelback Mountain. The gated hotel grounds are full of activities ranging from sports to relaxation. It's the kind of hotel with so much to do that guests could spend their whole vacation on the property .

In Paradise Valley, I stayed at the Hermosa Inn, a boutique hotel with a completely different vibe.

travel resort spa

The vast majority of Scottsdale and Paradise Valley hotels have more than 50 rooms, making the wealthier suburb's 43-room Hermosa Inn a unique option for those seeking seclusion.

The Hermosa Inn isn't luxurious in a glitzy sense. Instead, it marvels guests by making them feel like they traveled to the 20th-century Western era.

Its roots as a 1930s cowboy's home and studio are evident upon arrival with adobe bricks, beehive fireplaces, historic artwork from paintings to silk, and artifacts like worn saddles and Stetson hats.

I thought the Hermosa Inn was ideal for travelers craving privacy and a personal touch.

travel resort spa

The Hermosa Inn's 43 stand-alone casitas are secluded accommodations situated next to discrete exits. Guest service agent Tami Norton told Business Insider that the hotel often hosts celebrities and executives in the public eye, and its small size allows it to accommodate special, personalized requests.

For example, Norton noted a recent guest in town to perform.

"The hours they keep are quite different; they arrive back on the property late at night and need to sleep in during the day," she said of performers. "So that particular guest needed the room totally blacked out before they came. We blacked out everything from the skylight down to the glow of the thermostat."

AZ Central reported that Clark Gable, Whitney Houston , David Spade, and Tyrese Gibson have dined and stayed at the Hermosa Inn.

Norton told BI that actors often have strict dietary restrictions that the kitchen accommodates by ordering special ingredients and portioning them out with a scale. She added that guests can also request small appliances in their rooms for protein shakes and other quick meals.

Both hotels had upscale rooms with king-sized beds, large bathrooms, and private outdoor spaces.

travel resort spa

My deluxe room at the Phoenician was filled with modern furniture with Southwestern accents. From the comfy bed and oversized tub to the balcony, the room epitomized 21st-century luxury .

While the Phoenician room was modern, the Hermosa Inn casita had a more traditional luxury brand.

travel resort spa

At the Hermosa Inn, I slept in what was essentially a small house. It was easily the biggest hotel room I've stayed in.

Unlike the Phoenician, the Hermosa Inn's room didn't feel modern at all. The Southwestern vibe was all-encompassing, from the furniture to the decor. It felt more unique than the room at the Phoenician while boasting the same amenities, including a large tub and bed.

The Hermosa Inn room also had a beehive fireplace and a skylight. Rather than a balcony, the one-story accommodation had a private patio.

Both hotels housed renowned dining hot spots.

travel resort spa

The high-quality dining at each hotel attracts more than just hotel guests with buzzy, award-winning restaurants.

Three of the Phoenician's eight dining venues and bars — Mowry & Cotton, J&G Steakhouse, and Thirsty Camel — have received kudos from Forbes Travel Guide, Open Table, and Trip Advisor, according to the hotel's website .

LON's, the Hermosa Inn's only restaurant and bar, is known by Food & Wine for its romantic vibe. It offers outdoor seating surrounded by vibrant gardens and beehive fireplaces. Open Table has included LON's in its roundup of the best brunch menus in the country for four years running.

The Hermosa Inn's restaurant added a wine cellar 20 years ago for ultra-VIP dining.

travel resort spa

In its 2003 renovations, LON's upgraded its VIP offerings, adding a small dining room in an underground wine cellar and an exclusive tasting menu.

The Phoenician has also gotten several upgrades, including an award-winning, three-story spa with two pools.

travel resort spa

With the most spas per capita in the US, according to Go Banking Rates , Scottsdale is a hot spot for health and wellness tourism .

The Phoenician is ideal for a rejuvenating trip thanks to its award-winning, three-story spa renovated in 2018.

The dramatic entryway greets patrons with an artistic chandelier and golden details throughout the spa. In addition to massage and facial treatment rooms, a sauna, and a meditation room, the facility has two pools — one on the rooftop — a nail salon, and a dry bar for hair styling.

There's also a fitness room where guests can work with a personal trainer.

The same hotel has five more outdoor pools, including one made of pearl tiles imported from Italy.

The massive Phoenician pool complex includes a splash pad and an adults-only pool.

But the most luxurious of the five is the serenity pool made of Italian Mother-of-Pearl tiles that cost $1 million, according to the company's website . The hand-placed tiles give the pool an iridescent shine similar to the inside of a sea shell.

The Phoenician Golf Club takes the upscale sport to another level.

travel resort spa

I'm no golfer, but it's easy to see why those who play would stay at the Phoenician.

The 18-hole course and club, renovated in 2018, wowed me with views and high-tech features. Players rode around the pristine course lined with gardens and fountains against a mountain backdrop in golf carts with GPS screens that stream news and entertainment.

Whether you're looking for a private vacation or one where you don't have to leave the hotel, Scottsdale has it all.

travel resort spa

After staying at both resorts, there was undoubtedly more to do at the Phoenician. I could see why travelers craving a mega-resort vacation where they don't have to navigate the city to have a good time would pick the Phoenician for their luxury vacation.

But the Hermosa Inn is a better choice for those desiring a unique and exclusive stay with large, private accommodations and plenty of personal attention.

If you stay at both, as I did, luxury travelers can have it all in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. That's why I think so many wealthy vacationers choose the Arizona hot spot for their getaways.

10 Best Spas and Retreats in Upstate New York

By Caitlin Gunther

Guest room with light streaming in at Piaule Catskill

Before the rise of air travel, its wide expanses of untouched nature and proximity to New York City made upstate New York the perfect spa destination for hitting reset. While the region’s resorts have provided relaxing retreats since the 19th century (at least), more recently, upstate New York spa options have proliferated in droves. Many new hotels and retreat-like New York spas offer thoughtful ways for reconnecting with yourself and the natural surroundings—from sound baths immersed in the lush forest to bespoke meditation sessions alongside a babbling river.

This mix of accessibility and bucolic beauty has fomented a second Golden Age for Catskills and Hudson Valley tourism. The arrival of globally renowned brands like The Ranch , which opened a Hudson Valley location in April 2024, signals the region’s ascent as a wellness destination. For today’s travelers, hotels and resorts in this area are rolling out expansive spa amenities (alongside their traditional pampering), from microcurrent facials in a Tuscan-style mansion atop a hill, to detoxifying mud wraps in a lakeside 19th-century estate.

Here are 10 noteworthy spas in upstate New York where you're sure to have an energizing and unforgettable weekend getaway.

The Ranch Hudson Valley Arrow

After years of requests from The Ranch Malibu devotees, the famed Spartan-meets-swanky wellness retreat opened its first East Coast outpost in Sloatsburg, New York, just an hour car ride from NYC. Set on a lakefront estate with a stone mansion built by JP Morgan in 1902, The Ranch's Hudson Valley outpost delivers guests its signature program—a blend of strength training, yoga, plant-based meals, and lots of daily hiking—in a more distilled version (either four or five days long as opposed to Malibu's 7 to 14+ day offerings). Hundreds of miles of hiking trails are within easy access, including the 4,000-acre Ringwood State Park and the 40,000-acre Harriman State Park. Treatments include daily massages and optional tailored add-ons, like chiropractic treatments, energy healing, sound baths, and contrast hydrotherapy through a hot and cold plunge pool. With 25 guests at any given time, this restorative stay feels just as exclusive as the original.

Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection Arrow

In the small town of Gardiner, overlooking the Shawangunk Ridge (or as locals lovingly refer to it, “The Gunks”), Wildflower Farms is a nature-inspired retreat featuring a 9,000-square-foot wellness facility called Thistle. Named after the wild blooms that blanket nearby fields in the summer, Thistle offers body treatments using small-batch botanicals, scrubs, and remedies made in partnership with the local  Cultivate Apothecary . Meanwhile, facials feature products from French cult-favorite brand,  Biologique Recherche . Of note, Thistle’s immersive outdoor treatments—like guided meditations alongside the river—are all crafted with an eye toward “harnessing the power of nature.”

Kenoza Hall Arrow

In a restored 1880s boarding house, Kenoza Hall offers guests a wellness program grounded in Kneipp therapy. This holistic method follows five foundational pillars: Exercise, Nutrition, Water, Plants, and Balance. The theme is “earthy luxury” at the onsite Hemlock Spa, where treatments like facials, massages, and wraps are rooted in naturopathy and hydrotherapy. Bringing to mind a greenhouse, the Relaxation Lounge seamlessly blends outdoor and indoor elements, with a cold water plunge, a wood stove, an outdoor barrel sauna, and a Kneipp circuit with varying textures and sensations. Their Movement Studio hosts group classes such as aerial yoga, sound therapy, and guided meditation. At Hemlock, the approach to wellness extends beyond the spa walls and throughout the property's gardens, hot tub, pool, private lake, and the 55 acres of surrounding land’s walking trails.

Guest room with light streaming in at Piaule Catskill

Piaule Catskill Arrow

Between Hunter Mountain and the town of Hudson, alongside the famed Kaaterskill Creek, you’ll find the contemporary-meets-organic Piaule Catskill. Piaule offers personalized facials and body treatments, as well as reiki, sound baths, yoga, and meditation. You can commence your wellness journey with a plunge in the hot pool, detox in the sauna and steam room, and finish with some mindfulness in the tea room.

United States New York New Paltz Hotel Mohonk Mountain House

Mohonk Mountain House Arrow

Near the town of New Paltz, Mohonk Mountain House is an institution, providing a bucolic retreat for visitors since its founding in 1869. Today, Hudson Valley 's trailblazer is home to a 30,000-square-foot Spa Wing, featuring an outdoor heated mineral pool, 16 treatment rooms, a fitness center, and more. This summer, Mohonk Mountain House inaugurated its Lakeview Summerhouse, an outdoor sanctuary on the cliffs overlooking Lake Mohonk, with a specialized treatment menu: massages surrounded by nature, a luxe lift facial, mindfulness sessions led by Dr. Nina Smiley, and more. Recently, they also launched Seasonal Wellbeing Collections—a holistic approach to wellness for each season, with spa therapies, fitness programs, and mindfulness practices.

Built with reclaimed wood from the Old Tappan Zee Bridge, The Barns is a light-splashed wellness oasis at the Troutbeck hotel in Amenia, New York. There, guests can enjoy spa treatments, from massage therapy to acupuncture, as well as forest bathing , infrared sauna sessions, and a Kinesoma dance experience aimed at restoring the body, boosting awareness, and bringing a sense of renewed joy. This summer, Inness will begin opening its spa facilities—just another reason to visit the carefully crafted retreat. The standalone building, designed by founder Taavo Somer (the architect and restaurateur behind Freeman’s and the Rusty Knot) and Post Company, aims to blend the space with the beauty of the nature surrounding it, like the sweeping views of the Shawangunk Mountains. Guests have access to five spa treatment rooms, a fitness studio, a “dōjō” for yoga and meditation, and a bathhouse equipped with a steam room, sauna, and indoor tranquility pool. As for the treatment menu, Inness Spa will offer therapeutic massages, body treatments, facials, and more, using cult-favorite brands like Biologique Recherche and Luzern.

The Spa at Glenmere Mansion includes treatment suites, a relaxation library, a marble bathhouse, a hammam, and a meditation garden. The spa menu has sophisticated face and body treatments, like a microcurrent facial that uses LED lighting to even skin tone and a Chardonnay Body Drench that combines an intensely hydrating massage with a heated wrap to penetrate dehydrated skin. Classic facials, invigorating scrubs, and flawless manis and pedis are also on offer, ensuring you leave feeling your best inside and out.
