Little-known Madagascar

Nosy be - port louis, dates: 11/28/2025 to  12/12/2025, flight mauritius/nosy be + transfer.

Innumerable adjectives are used to describe Madagascar, as anyone who travels to this island-continent is inevitably enchanted and filled with wonder. They are most likely drawn to it for its unusual geology that forms majestic landscapes where extraordinary plant life thrives. Baobabs, kalanchoes and the aloes of Madagascar create a veritable botanical paradise for the many species of animals that live here.

Over 15 days, aboard Le Bougainville , explore the red island during an expedition cruise combining encounters with the local communities, geological discoveries, and the opportunity to observe the native fauna and flora.

To the north of Madagascar, from the shores of Nosy Be - whose nickname used to be ‘the island of perfumes’ - you will begin your odyssey with a stop to discover the welcoming community of Nosy Komba .

In Mahajanga , you will explore Ankarafantsika National Park , home to numerous species of birds and lemurs, before heading to the picturesque and stunning Belo sur Mer . Here, enjoy a first encounter with the Vezo people, who are among the world’s last ‘sea nomads’, and learn more about how they make their dugout canoes, used for trade.

Toliara , formerly Tuléar, comes into view at the mouth of the Onilahy River . Nearby, the wild expanses of southwestern Madagascar form UNESCO biosphere reserves thanks to their exceptional flora that will delight botany enthusiasts.

Along the vast beaches lined with dunes in Sarodrano , you will have the unique privilege of meeting and interacting with a small community of Vezos. You will visit their charming fishing village and sit with them in their authentic dugout canoes with square sails, to learn about their age-old seafaring skills.

Out at sea await turquoise waters and the natural pools of Nosy Ve , an islet of white sand that shelters a large colony of red-tailed tropicbirds.

It is now time to discover the fascinating Fort-Dauphin . More commonly called Tolagnaro, it is fascinating for its past marked by colonisation and for its natural environment where exceptional plant life has created a breathtaking décor.

Then, Le Bougainville will reach Port Louis in Mauritius , where this unforgettable cruise will come to an end.

The encounters with the wildlife described above illustrate possible experiences only and cannot be guaranteed.

Boarding conditions and passenger travel abilities

We invite you to read our boarding conditions and passenger travel abilities by clicking here .

Any new reservation implies the acceptance of these conditions.

To guarantee your entry into one or several countries, you must ensure that you comply with the formalities and health requirements specific to each destination. In just a few clicks on our online search engine, find all the formalities you must complete prior to your departure (visas, entry authorisations for each country, vaccinations, etc.).

The international situation can change rapidly, so be sure to check this information regularly prior to your departure. However, please note that we always recommend our guests contact the relevant national immigration and customs and border control authorities directly to find out what rules apply to their specific situation. PONANT is not responsible for any decisions made by guests based on the information provided by the online search engine.

The information below is current but subject to change at any time without advance notice from government authorities. Please consult your respective government agencies for visa and health information.

Passport valid for at least six (6) months beyond the completion of your trip. Passport must contain at least two completely clear, blank, unused visa pages for each visa required, not including any amendment pages. Visa pages with stains or ink from other pages in the passport are not usable. Guests who deviate from the scheduled embarkation or disembarkation port should research the foreign entry requirements for the port country. Due to government regulations, regrettably, Ponant will have to deny boarding to any guest who fails to obtain the appropriate travel documentation for this trip.

Diving - This sanitary formality is likely to evolve in accordance with the sanitary measures related to Covid-19.

Passengers may take part in scuba diving activities, providing certain conditions are respected, in line with the applicable health, scientific and medical conditions in force on the day of the dive.

In order to participate in diving sessions, guests must have with them a medical certificate less than 1 year old and their up to date dive book.

Madagascar : visa issued on board free of charge for stays of less than 15 days in Madagascar.

Immunization against diphtheria-tetanus-polio is recommended. Anti-malaria treatment is highly recommended. It is recommended that you contact your health professional for any specific medical advise relating to travel through these regions.

List of items prohibited on board

To guarantee the safety and well-being of our guests, certain items are strictly prohibited on board. Should you have one of these products or objects in your possession, they will be confiscated immediately and will not be transported on the ship. When an item transported aboard is considered illegal, the relevant authorities will be notified systematically.

Click here  for the full list of items prohibited on board.

Warning about the use of drones : the use of drones aboard PONANT ships, whether they are sailing at sea, at a port of call or anchored, is strictly forbidden. The use of drones on land in the Arctic and Antarctic regions is also strictly forbidden by international polar regulations. In other regions, it may be possible to use drones on land if permission has been obtained from the relevant authorities of each country and each region travelled through, as well as a pilot’s licence that should be obtained from your home country. Passengers are responsible for obtaining these permits; they should be able to present them at all times. Passengers who do not obtain these authorisations expose themselves to the risk of legal proceedings.

Expedition programmes include activities such as zodiac outings and landings (sometimes with "wet landings"), moderate walks to more active hikes, all accompanied by your expedition team of naturalist guides.

Ports of call, visited sites, outings and landings will depend on weather conditions, winds and the state of the sea. These can force a change of plans at any time. The Captain and the Expedition Leader may at any time cancel or stop any activity, or even modify the itinerary. The final itinerary will be confirmed by the Captain, who will take into account the touristic quality of the sites and above all, the safety of the passengers. His decision will be based on advice from experts and authorities.

Travelling to isolated regions is an exhilarating experience. In remote areas, please remember that you are far from modern hospitals with full medical facilities, thus evacuation is extremely expensive. Without adequate medical coverage, all expenses will have to be immediately paid with your personal funds. We urge you to subscribe to full coverage insurance, choose your insurance company very carefully, be extremely vigilant and ensure your insurance is fully comprehensive, especially if you are insured by your credit card. PONANT offers an insurance contract with extensive guarantees, please contact us for more information.

Nosy Be (from the Malagasy: Nosy meaning island and Be meaning large), in the Mozambique Channel, is located near the north-eastern coastlines of Madagascar. A former French protectorate, known under the promising name of “ the scented island” , of volcanic origin, it is located on a maritime route with access to India and Asia. Cosmopolitan, a boulevard of encounters, its mixed-race and multicultural population still remembers its past as a significant trading post . Today, its 321 km² enchant lovers of nature and idyllic beaches. Its sumptuous primary forest is home to animals that are endemic to the island as well as surprising flora.

Nosy Komba

November 29, 2025 - Nosy Komba

Arrival 11/29/2025 Departure 11/29/2025

During your cruise, your ship will stop in Nosy Komba , otherwise known as “ lemur island ”. Not far from the Madagascar mainland, this volcanic island shaped like a gigantic turtle shell is covered in dense tropical rainforest. This vegetation is home to amusing black lemurs – furry orange-brown and black creatures that are surprisingly agile and call to each other from amongst the trees. The many small beaches and the emerald-coloured water make Nosy Komba a natural gem that only a select few visit.

Majunga

Arrival 11/30/2025 Departure 11/30/2025

A lively and cosmopolitan town on the west coast of Madagascar , Majunga , also called Mahajanga, will be a port of call rich in discoveries. The former capital of the Sakalava kingdom, then a significant interchange due to its prime position between Africa and the Middle East, the city displays an interesting cultural patchwork. Also renowned for its outstanding natural sites, this port of call will provide you with the opportunity to discover Ankarafantsika National Park , home to many endemic animal and plant species, or the Cirque Rouge , immense red sandstone formations classified as national heritage.

At sea

December 1, 2025 - At sea

Arrival 12/1/2025 Departure 12/1/2025

During your journey at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, let yourself be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing. This journey without a port of call will also be an opportunity to enjoy the conferences or shows proposed on board, depending on the activities offered, or to do some shopping in the boutique or to meet the PONANT photographers in their dedicated space. As for lovers of the open sea, they will be able to visit the ship’s upper deck to admire the spectacle of the waves and perhaps be lucky enough to observe marine species. A truly enchanted interlude, combining comfort, rest and entertainment.

Belo sur Mer

December 2, 2025 - Belo sur Mer

Arrival 12/2/2025 Departure 12/2/2025

In the south west of the Menabe Region , in the district of Morondava , you will marvel at the picturesque beauty of Belo sur Mer . This peninsula edged with mangroves alternates fine sandy beaches with rocks plunging into a sea whose shades fall between deep blue and crystal-clear green. This fishing village is renowned for its dhows , the traditional sailing boats of Madagascar, which are built in situ, in the local artisanal boatyard. The choreography of these vessels coming and going on the beach sets the pace of life in the village, bestowing it with a unique charm.

Toliara

December 3, 2025   December 4, 2025 - Toliara

Arrival 12/3/2025 Departure 12/4/2025

Located to the south-west of the island of Madagascar , near the mouth of the River Onilahy, Toliara is a port town that opens onto the Mozambique Channel . Inhabited for several centuries, becoming prosperous during the colonial period in the 19th century, Toliara is a cheerful town with unspoilt nature and exceptional flora that will certainly appeal to fans of botany. The Antsokay Arboretum botanical garden with nearly 1,000 Madagascar plant species, 90% of which are endemic, is worth a fragrant and charming detour. Cultural heritage will not be outdone, with the interesting museums of Mahafaly ethnology and the Museum o f the Sea .

Sarodrano

December 5, 2025 - Sarodrano

Arrival 12/5/2025 Departure 12/5/2025

Sarodrano is a small village in the south-west of Madagascar in the province of Atsimo-Andrefana , at the mouth of the Onilahy River . This village of Vezo fishermen possesses the authentic and unspoiled charm of remote places. You will be surprised by the dexterity with which these “nomads of the sea” steer their outrigger canoes to fish, or keep up their ancestral traditions like seaweed cultivation. If the tide allows it, you will also have the possibility of discovering the sacred cave of Sarodrano , a natural fresh water pool separated from the sea by just 10 metres (33 feet) of rocks.

Nosy Ve

December 6, 2025 - Nosy Ve

Arrival 12/6/2025 Departure 12/6/2025

Five kilometres out to sea from the Malagasy village of Anakao , Nosy Ve is an unspoilt paradise of exceptional wild beauty. Located on a two-kilometre (1.2 miles) long coral bank, this island is unique in that it is home to a colony of endemic birds commonly called red-tailed tropicbird. This nature reserve, a nesting site for rare birds, is unique because it is this species’ only reproduction site. The duckboards installed on the island will enable you to observe the birds hidden from view under the forest of Madagascar jewel. This Eden dotted with natural pools is also a setting for coral, fish and sea turtles you can discover while snorkelling.

December 7, 2025 - At sea

Arrival 12/7/2025 Departure 12/7/2025

Tolagnaro (Fort Dauphin)

December 8, 2025 - Tolagnaro (Fort Dauphin)

Arrival 12/8/2025 Departure 12/8/2025

Between its sumptuous landscapes, its legendary mountain ranges and its idyllic beaches, Fort-Dauphin is a kind of paradise on earth. Nestled on the south-east tip of Madagascar, the former fishing village is as fascinating for its rich history, marked by a strong colonial past, as it is for its exceptional natural environment. More commonly known as “Tôlagnaro”, it shelters spectacular biodiversity with the majestic Pic Saint-Louis as a natural sanctuary. Like a sugar loaf standing 529 metres (1,736 feet) high and overlooking the town, this mountain is home to exceptional flora: ravenalas, raffia palms, orchids and periwinkles all intermingle in a breathtaking setting.

December 9, 2025   December 10, 2025 - At sea

Arrival 12/9/2025 Departure 12/10/2025

Port Louis

December 11, 2025   December 12, 2025 - Port Louis

On the north-west coast of Mauritius, discover Port Louis , the country’s multicultural capital. Constantly in movement, the city, which was once a port of call on the route to India, is home to many cultural and historic treasures. In addition to the city’s market where you will be able to discover all the local flavours and many handicrafts, make sure that you visit Fort Adelaide . Explore our list of 3 cruises

The Ross Sea , the southernmost sea in the world, owes its name to Sir James Clark Ross, both a naturalist and a Royal Navy officer, who first explored the area in 1841 with HMS Erebus and HMS Terror . It is bounded on the east by Roosevelt Island and the Edward VII Peninsula in Mary Byrd Land, on the west by Ross Island and the coastal mountains of Victoria Land, and on the south by the Ross Ice Shelf , the largest ice shelf in Antarctica located some 320 km from the geographic South Pole. The history and treasures of the world's ultimate marine sanctuary will be revealed during this extraordinary expedition.

You will be able, weather and ice conditions permitting, to discover several emblematic sites in the region. Among the possible stopovers, Cape Adare , at the northern end of the Borchgrevink coast , home to the world’s largest colony of Adélie penguins. We will attempt to reach Terra Nova Bay where the Italian and South Korean scientific stations are located to the north and the Drygalski Ice Tongue to the south. Dating back at least 4000 years, it extends 70 km offshore from the David Glacier and is 24 km at its widest point. On the Inexpressible Island , discover the exceptional survival conditions of a group of six men of the Terra Nova expedition, led by Robert Falcon Scott (1910-1913), forced to winter in a cave dug in the ice, today classified as an Antarctica historical monument. On Ross Island , follow in the footsteps of the polar explorers Sir James Clark Ross and discover Sir Ernest Shackleton's hut, classified as an Antarctica historical monument. Built at Cape Royds during the British expedition Nimrod (1907-1909), it proudly stands at the bottom of Mount Erebus. Sixty years earlier, while Captain James Ross was trying to reach the South Magnetic Pole, he discovered Franklin Island , located 130 km east of Cape Hickey in Victoria Land. He named it after Sir John Franklin, Arctic explorer and governor of the territory of present-day Tasmania. You will be offered there, a privileged position to observe Adélie penguins in their daily ballet as well as Weddell seals, resting on the shore.

Lovely, relaxing cruise with very knowledgeable guides. Staff were very helpful and always pleasant. Excursions were organised well and catered to all the passengers on board. Maybe could have had had more excursions for the more able to be more active.

Dear Patricia WALL, Thank you for your positive comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed your cruise. Your satisfaction is our greatest reward. We look forward to welcoming you back on board very soon. Yours sincerely The PONANT team."

Excellent Opera cruise on Ponant L’Austral

This was our first cruise on Ponant and Ponant far surpasses the “suite experience” on any other cruise line. The opera events weer intimate and incredible to have 6 professional opera singer with us for a week. The dining was fantastic every day. The quality is very high. The crew all knew our name. We spoke with the Captain daily. The open bridge was great. The cabin design was very well thought out and we really liked the separate “water closet”. We really enjoyed the North Africa ports of call, as Algeria and Tunisia are not generally on other cruise line’s itineraries. The number of passengers was just right and it was never congested or crowded on board. Highly recommend.

Dear Mr DEUEL, Thank you for your positive comments and your enthusiasm. We are delighted that you enjoyed your first experience aboard the AUSTRAL. We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back on board very soon. Sincerely The PONANT team

Very disappointing on many levels

Japan southern islands on Le Jacque Cartier (7 days). The cabin (deck 5) was compact but very functional and comfortable. The balcony was nice to have also. As an expedition cruise the leaders failed to provide the necessary information to enhance the experience. Many had never been to the areas visited. Logistics on land were poor and confused, lots of waiting for buses and other passengers. The French passengers seemed to get preferential treatment and access to the expedition team members who has expertise eg botanist, environmentalist etc. The English speakers were with inexperienced leaders. The food and wine was average at best. Little knowledge of wines served, no sommelier on board. Some bars (observation deck) were closed at odd times (like 600pm) due to lack of staff on board. I provided written comments both during and post cruise direct to Ponant and received no response. This was our first cruise with Ponant and will also be our last. The whole experience was not worth what we paid for it. Many other passengers felt much the same. Ponant are expanding their operations into Australia and if this is indicative of their level of cruising and professionalism then be warned.

Your satisfaction is our priority and we are constantly working to improve our services. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly to discuss your concerns on 04 91 17 01 90 or by e-mail [email protected]. We look forward to welcoming you back on board. Sincerely The PONANT team

Ponant needs to improve

Ponant markets itself as a 5 star cruise line but in reality it is barely 4 stars. The coffee on board has no taste and no trained baristas either. The soups and vegetables served are usually lukewarm. Staff are polite but not overly friendly. The only really friendly crew members are the dining room and housekeeping staff who are all Filipino. Food was much better before 2020 and more “French cuisine”

Date of experience : April 27, 2024

Dear customer Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments. Please feel free to contact [email protected] if you wish to discuss your experience. Sincerely, The PONANT team".

Penguins, whales and amazing scenery

Ponant took us to Antarctica in Jan 2023. (From Dunedin to Hobart) We absolutely loved it. The ship Le Soleil has great viewing decks and lounges, the cabins are nice, the food fantastic and all the staff - both on board and the booking agents on shore - were just the best. We have cruised with other cruise lines - Seabourn and Silversea amongst them - but Ponant is now one of our favourites.

Great small and picturesque ports of call. We like the personal touch, shuttles into town and town maps should we not do the offered excursions. Sometimes finding to ship for the initial embarkation and the process has been a bit chaotic. Like the French and when local wines are offered.

Best Cruising - Hands Down !

Our first cruise with Ponant from Alaska to Canada in 2019 was spectacular. The attention to detail was second to none in every aspect, from bow to stern, restaurants, entertainment, bridge, guide talks, escorted excursions, accommodation, and the food and service was exceptional After just one cruise it’ll be only Ponant for us. Really looking forward to our next one coming up !!!! Brian & Pam

Date of experience : August 03, 2022

Fantastically organized, great food and accommodation, friendly staff and great excursions from the ship. A smaller vessel with a maximum of about 280 passengers is certainly the way to go. Definitely worth the extra money if you’ve ever thought about a cruise but dread the thought of a massive floating listeria palace.

Our Kimberly Cruise was fabulous

Our Kimberly Cruise was fabulous. The ship, Le Soleal, was very comfortable, with choice of casual or formal restaurants. The expedition leaders and all of the science experts were accessible, friendly and helpful. We learned so much on each of the daily expeditions. Not to be missed, in my view.

Super cruise line

Super cruise line, certainly the best experience we have had. First a trip from Panama thru the canal and on to Lima. Next a quick backwards S from Aukland down the Easter edge of North Island, thru the strait, and the western fiords around to end in Dunedin. Our third trip was an exploratory trip into the New Zealand fiords and south with 13 naturalists around the sun-Antarctic Islands. Love the quality of experience, live-aboard life, and the details the line and especially the expert crew and officers. Food, conversation, programs, and safety remains second to none thru all three voyages. Love the practical quality and style, in attitude and service. No unnecessary pretentiousness. Sign us up.

Cruising in style.

Great experience, liked very much the smaller more intimate cruise and the French style and cuisine. The excursions were all very good, with English speaking guides for us. Already booked the next cruise with Ponant.

From the moment we embarked on the…

From the moment we embarked on the yacht until embarkation we were made to feel welcome and like family. The hardware is delightful, the staff attentive and the cuisine outstanding. Only bug was the little additional charges for some drinks especially when you were invited to a cocktail party and then charged for champagne, best to have this additional cost included. We have already booked another cruise to Norway and next year French Polynesia.

Beware of doing any village ‘tours’ on…

Beware of doing any village ‘tours’ on the Suvasuva (Fiji) part of a Pacific tour. We just paid USD110 per head to have a tour guide expound about Mr Tony Robbins and his programs on the island. There was little cultural insight, rather it was 4 hours of real estate information, ie which American owns which house, and of course, more of Mr Tony Robbins. It was the worst organised tour I’ve ever done, and would caution people.

Dodged a bullet

Incredibly slow at processing a refund to the extent that I think this is their policy rather than an honest mistake. I recieved a partial refund (did they hope I would not notice the shortfall) but no one available to explain where the rest of my money is. Whole team in a meeting for 30 mins and will call you back - fair enough. Several hours later I call again to be told whole team is in a meeting for 30 minutes and they will call back. Beyond frustrated with the incompetence, poor communication and lack of service. Is this the sort of treatment you want from a luxury cruise line - if not give them a miss. I really feel I dodged a bullet if their admin is this bad before you sail I hate to think what sailing with them would be like

Date of experience : February 13, 2024

We apologize for the delay in processing your refund. Your experience is not up to our service standards and we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding. The PONANT team

Sailed from Bergen

Sailed from Bergen, Norway to Glasgow, Scotland, my second Ponant cruise. There were multiple excursions available to choose from in each port, and I signed up for the pre-cruise tour of Bergen. Everything went smoothly, but boarding in Bergen took a long time, and it was not clear that the trip would not actually include seeing Glasgow, since the port where the cruise ended was outside the city, and bus transportation went directly to the airport.

Service was exemplary. Food and wine choices were excellent. Staff were warm and friendly. Suite was extremely comfortable. I will definitely travel again very happily with Ponant.

Ponant is the best cruising company

Ponant is the best cruising company we have encountered up to today. They produce a real 5 star hotel environment on their small ships, giving an exclusive experience. Cabins, food, drinks, and - most important - employees are just perfect.

Date of experience : June 28, 2023

One of the VERY best cruise lines.

Ponant is one of my very favorite cruise lines. My cabin was gorgeous, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. Service was excellent. The food was delicious. I was on a special theatre cruise. I hope there will be more of those on Ponant. Can't imagine how a cruise line could be any better.

6 top luxury alaska cruises for 2024 & beyond.

Book a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to The Great Land on one of these top luxury ships.

Top Luxury Alaska Cruises

Cruising to Alaska on a small luxury ship affords a very different experience than sailing through The Great Land on a larger vessel. On a smaller luxury ship, you'll enjoy the expected perks like fewer passengers and more personalized service – but you'll also physically get closer to the boundless wilderness, abundant wildlife, icy blue glaciers and majestic snow-capped mountains that you've waited a lifetime to see.

While the fares to sail on such vessels are quite a bit higher than those of larger cruise providers, the all-inclusive (or mostly all-inclusive) prices typically include all-suite accommodations with balconies, all meals, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, 24-hour room service, Wi-Fi access, gratuities, welcome bottles of sparkling wine, pillow selection, some shore excursions and butler service. Best of all, you won't feel like you're being nickel-and-dimed while on board. As a special touch, the attentive crew members may even learn your name and memorize your preferred pre-dinner cocktail.

Unlike many mainstream lines, most luxury Alaska cruises do not offer pre- and post-cruise tours to extend your adventure. However, you can plan these experiences on your own through third-party providers.

Alaska Tour & Travel has pre-cruise packages that include visits to Denali National Park & Preserve and the small, quirky Alaska towns of Homer and Talkeetna. You can also see a different side of Alaska via a train ride on the Alaska Railroad, take a national parks tour that includes Kenai Fjords National Park or head northbound to Fairbanks , one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights (if you visit during aurora season, from late August to late April). In addition, the company can plan a self-drive tour from Anchorage to Seward, which includes a stay at a wilderness lodge, helicopter flightseeing over Knik Glacier and guided tours in the parks.

The following luxury cruise lines will ensure you make the most of your voyage in Alaska – one of the most magical destinations on Earth.

Find your perfect cruise

Silversea Cruises

Silversea Cruises' small luxury ships are designed for adventurers interested in visiting a mix of Alaska's top ports and more rugged, off-the-beaten-track locales. Extended itineraries offer stops in less-visited destinations like the towns of Haines and Wrangell. On board, guests can expect a personalized experience that includes luxurious ocean-view suites with butler service, multiple gourmet dining options, complimentary alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, and attentive service with one of the highest crew-to-guest ratios in the industry.

Base fares for Silversea's 2024 and 2025 Alaska itineraries start at $3,250 per person. If you upgrade to Silversea 's door-to-door fare (which starts at $5,200 per person), you'll receive private chauffeur service from your home to the airport (and back home upon your return) and round-trip flights, with business class upgrades in some destinations.

Silversea also offers immersive pre- and post-cruise land experiences, departing from Seward, Alaska. Highlights include sightseeing flights over Denali National Park & Preserve or into bear country to see Alaska's magnificent grizzly bears. In Vancouver, travelers can take a flightseeing transfer to Victoria to tour the 55-acre Butchart Gardens or board the Rocky Mountaineer for a two-day train ride through the Canadian Rockies.

Silversea's Alaska itineraries extend from May to September, with voyages ranging between seven and 16 days. The line's newest and largest vessel, the 728-passenger Silver Nova , sails its inaugural Alaska season in 2024 along with two smaller ships, Silver Muse (596 guests) and Silver Shadow (392 guests). There are 35 Alaska voyages available in 2024. In 2025, luxury cruisers can hop aboard one of 45 scheduled voyages on either Silver Nova or the 596-guest Silver Moon .

For a seven-day itinerary, consider a sailing from Seward, Alaska, to Vancouver, British Columbia. This voyage cruises the Hubbard Glacier and the Inside Passage and stops in the Alaska towns of Juneau, Skagway, Sitka and Ketchikan. Complimentary excursions in Ketchikan include a tour of Saxman Native Village; a visit to Bonfire Bay Oyster Farm, featuring a sea-to-table oyster tasting; the Alaskan Cultural, Culinary & Lumberjack show; the Alaskan Lodge Adventure & Seafeast and a day as a fisherman aboard the Aleutian Ballard, as seen on Discovery Channel's "The Deadliest Catch." You can also opt for a Selected Shore Excursion (for an additional cost), such as mountain biking or a private fishing trip.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Regent Seven Seas Cruises' elegant Seven Seas Explorer sails the line's Alaska itineraries in 2024 and 2025. The lavish 746-guest ship was coined "The Most Luxurious Ship Ever Built" when it debuted in 2016; among its impressive features are the 3,875-square-foot Regent Suite and a high-end collection of art displayed throughout the ship, including works by Pablo Picasso.

Alaska voyages with Regent in 2024 and 2025 start at $4,799 per person. Upgraded 2-for-1 all-inclusive fares (starting at $5,499 per person) cover elegant all-balcony suite accommodations; round-trip airfare (business class on international flights); a one-night pre-cruise hotel package; free two- or three-night land programs; free unlimited shore excursions; free unlimited beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic); complimentary specialty dining; and prepaid gratuities. You'll also receive complimentary airport transfers, unlimited Wi-Fi access and valet laundry service.

Every suite style includes a private balcony, roomy closets and upscale finishes. Concierge Suites (and above) add cozy in-room amenities like cashmere blankets, perfect to bundle up in while you take in the scenery. Meanwhile, Penthouse Suites (and higher) include a private butler who can book excursions, make dinner and spa reservations, unpack your luggage, arrange for a private cocktail soiree in your suite and indulge any other special requests.

Between May and September 2024, Regent sails 22 Alaska voyages. There are 16 Alaska sailings scheduled for the same period in 2025. Itineraries range from seven to 14 nights. For plenty of scenic cruising days, consider a round-trip itinerary from Vancouver departing May 28, 2025. The cruise includes five relaxing days at sea, where you'll enjoy scenic cruising through the Inside Passage (twice), Hubbard Glacier (twice) and Endicott Arm Fjord. Ports of call in Alaska include Wrangell, Juneau , Skagway, Sitka, Seward, Icy Strait (Hoonah) and Ketchikan. You'll also have a full day in Victoria, British Columbia, before returning to Vancouver.

While in Wrangell, consider the Tongass Botanical Forest Walk excursion. Tongass National Forest is the largest national forest in the U.S., with towering old-growth trees and unique flora, fauna and ecosystems. While in the temperate rainforest with your naturalist guide, look for local wildlife like Sitka black-tailed deer, porcupines and birds of prey. Other complimentary excursions at this stop include a round of golf at Muskeg Meadows Golf Course; a canoe trip through Wrangell harbor and nearby islands, and a heritage tour about Tlingit culture and the history of the town.

Nobu restaurant on a Crystal cruise ship.

Recently relaunched Crystal offers just seven voyages in Alaska aboard Crystal Serenity in July and August 2024. The 740-guest luxury vessel was refurbished in 2023 and features the line's signature top-notch service, elegant interiors and suites, and personal butler service in every room category.

Other perks and amenities include plush bathrobes and Sicily's Ortigia bath products; an impressive passenger-to-crew ratio; prepaid gratuities; complimentary beverages; and outstanding cuisine, including Umi Uma (an exclusive Nobu restaurant at sea, available only on Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony ). Guests can also feast on Italian cuisine at Osteria d'Ovidio; book an exclusive dining experience at The Vintage Room; indulge in Parisian cafe-style fare at The Bistro; opt for American cuisine at Waterside Restaurant or take their pick of several other casual indoor and alfresco options.

Cruisers also have their selection of unique shore experiences curated by Crystal's parent company A&K Travel Group, such as a ride on the world's largest zip line in Hoonah (Icy Strait Point); dog sledding and glacier flightseeing in Skagway; fishing and wilderness dining in Ketchikan and the Wildlife Quest and Fin Island Lodge experience in Sitka, boasting a feast of Alaska king crab and wild salmon.

Crystal offers seven- and eight-night round-trip voyages from Vancouver , as well as one-way cruises from Vancouver or Seward, Alaska. Select itineraries – like the July 30, 2024, voyage from Vancouver to Seward – offer a scenic cruising day in the Seymour Narrows in British Columbia. On this sailing, you'll also enjoy a day at sea cruising Hubbard Glacier, as well as stops in Ketchikan, Sitka, Hoonah (Icy Strait), Skagway and Sitka in Alaska. Or, opt for the July 2, 2024, round-trip sailing from Vancouver for three scenic cruising days in the Inside Passage, Endicott Arm and the Seymour Narrows.

The line's Aug. 13, 2024, round-trip sailing from Vancouver features a special guest: Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, the executive chairman of A&K Travel Group. As such, the cruise will include an exclusive gala dinner and other unique experiences. Other special voyages welcome marine biologist and National Geographic photographer Flip Nicklin, who will share personal stories from his extensive career and expert insights about humpback whale habitats and behaviors.

Viking Ocean Cruises' 11-day Alaska & the Inside Passage cruise is available on 11 dates during the 2024 season. It sails from Vancouver to Seward (or the reverse) on the 930-passenger Viking Orion . In 2025, the line offers the same itinerary on 22 dates between May and September, split between Viking Orion and its sister ship, the 930-passenger Viking Sea .

Viking's destination-focused itineraries are curated for travelers who are interested in history, science, culture and cuisine, as they feature onboard enrichment like lectures by Viking's resident historians. You'll also find regionally inspired dishes in The Restaurant and special access to unique tours and excursions ashore.

The line's mostly all-inclusive fares cover accommodations in spacious all-veranda staterooms and suites; beer, wine and soft drinks at lunch and dinner; meals at all the dining venues; one shore excursion in every port; free Wi-Fi access; 24-hour specialty teas, coffees and bottled water; complimentary access to The Nordic Spa & Fitness Center; and other upscale amenities.

Voyages traveling northbound from Vancouver include one day of scenic cruising through the Inside Passage before stopping in Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, Skagway and Icy Strait Point in Alaska. The eighth day of the cruise sails through picturesque Yakutat Bay, which includes the Hubbard Glacier. The ship then calls on Valdez, Alaska, before the trip ends with two days in Seward.

While in Valdez, take an optional tour to explore the incredible scenery surrounding the small fishing town. Viking offers a kayaking trip to see the Valdez Glacier; a scenic cruise through picturesque Prince William Sound to view the Columbia Glacier; a wildlife cruise where you can look for humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, sea otters and bald eagles; a helicopter ride over the area's rugged, icy wilderness; or a UTV adventure through the Chugach Mountains to Mineral Creek Canyon.

Seabourn Cruise Line

Between May and August 2024, Seabourn Cruise Line will host 20 Alaska voyages aboard the Seabourn Odyssey , before the ship leaves the cruise line in the fall. In 2025, the line offers 27 Alaska sailings on Seabourn Quest. Both yacht-inspired ships accommodate up to 458 guests and feature Seabourn's signature all-inclusive amenities, including luxurious oceanfront suites with verandas; personalized service; complimentary fine wines and premium spirits; complimentary dining; and caviar served throughout the sailing. You'll also have a complimentary W-Fi package and an in-suite minibar stocked with your favorite beverages. Ashore, sign up for exclusive programs like shopping for fresh salmon, halibut and Alaska king crab alongside a Seabourn chef.

Guests booking Seabourn Quest for 2025 will be able to sample the line's new dining concept, Solis. Inspired by destinations in the Mediterranean, the menu features a fresh, modern take on traditional dishes and whimsical cocktails. The restaurant is a collaboration with master chef and culinary partner Anton Egger and senior corporate chef Franck Salein. In addition to dishes like salt-encrusted whole branzino and Tuscan-style steak, guests will also find a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes.

The seven-day Alaska Fjords & Canadian Inside Passage itinerary on May 31, 2024, aboard Seabourn Odyssey, sails from Juneau to Vancouver and includes a day in either Tracy Arm or Endicott Arm, depending on the ice conditions. From there, you can take one of the optional guided excursions: Ventures by Seabourn. These tours are an additional cost but offer opportunities for up-close Zodiac, kayaking or catamaran experiences in the wilderness to see glaciers calving and view local wildlife, such as black bears, mountain goats, seals, wolves and seabirds.

You'll also enjoy many days of scenic cruising on this voyage, and have the opportunity for more optional adventures in Rudyerd Bay (Misty Fjords). The ship makes additional stops in Wrangell, Alaska, and Prince Rupert, British Columbia, before disembarking in Vancouver.

If you want to see stunning Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, then consider booking the seven-day Alaska Inside Passage & Glacier Bay sailing on May 10, 2024, from Vancouver to Juneau. This itinerary also includes the Seymour Narrows and Snow Pass, cruising Queen Island Sound and the Lynn Canal. There's a stop for Ventures by Seabourn activities like kayaking and Zodiac rides in the Inian Islands. The Alaska ports of call on this voyage are Ketchikan, Sitka, Icy Strait Point and Haines. You'll disembark in Juneau.

Aboard the 264-guest yacht-style Le Soléal, you'll meet up to 10 naturalist experts and guides specializing in geology, history, ornithology or marine or land mammals. Guests can attend onboard lectures and embark on Zodiac landings with the guides.

The ship features elegant staterooms and suites, a library, a spa, a hair salon and a gym. Guests will be treated to movies in the theater, wine tastings and cooking demonstrations throughout the expedition. All fine dining meals, 24-hour room service, an open bar (including an in-room minibar) and complimentary and unlimited Wi-Fi access are covered in the pricing.

Two of PONTANT's eight-night voyages from Vancouver to Sitka are in partnership with Smithsonian Journeys and are curated for English-speaking travelers. Fares for these expeditions include transfers to and from the ship and a shore excursion in each port. On board, you can attend talks and discussions hosted by two Smithsonian Journeys experts: geologist Scott Burns and natural history filmmaker John Grabowska.

On these voyages, there is a sea day after departing Vancouver. You'll cruise through the Johnstone Strait, where you'll have an excellent chance of seeing humpback whales and orcas. After a day spent in the Inside Passage, the ship will call on the village of Metlakatla, Alaska, on the western coast of Annette Island, which is home to the Tsimshians from British Columbia. Other unique Alaska ports of call in this itinerary include the commercial fishing town of Petersburg, the Tlingit village of Kake and the small fishing community of Alfin Cove.

You can also look forward to mouth-watering cuisine courtesy of renowned chef Thomas Keller.
