Last year's winner Adam Yates and third-placed Damiano Caruso both return to this six day-stage race in Romandie, the French speaking area of west Switzerland to battle again in the region's beautiful mountain scenery.

Read on and we'll show you how to watch the Tour de Romandie 2024 live streams from anywhere with a VPN , and potentially for FREE .

Tour de Romandie 2024 live streams take place between Tuesday, April 23 and Sunday, April 28. Start times vary. • FREE STREAMS —   Watch on SRF (Switzerland) •   U.S. — Watch on FloBikes •   U.K. — Watch on Discovery+ • Watch anywhere — Try NordVPN

Starting with a minuscule 2.3km prologue in the town of Payerne, the 77th Tour de Romandie will cover a total of 657km and pack in over 11,000m of climbing with a time trial on stage three and summit finishes on both stages two and four at Les Marécottes and Leysin.

Favourite to repeat his victory of last year will be Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) who will be backed up by a strong team including Pavel Sivakov, Felix Großschartner and Juan Ayuso. Leading the challenge will be the ever improving Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) winner of the recent Giro d’Abruzzo Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Qazaqstan Team) and young French star Lenny Martinez (Groupama - FDJ).

The course isn’t just for the climbers though as with a prologue and a mid-race time trial many TT specialists are on the start sheet too including Josh Tarling and Ethan Hayter from (INEOS Grenadiers) and Rémi Cavagna (Movistar Team).

Stage four, the Queen stage of the race lived up to all the hype providing a pulsating finale on the finishing climb. The win and race lead were both up for grabs and it was Richard Carapaz (EF Education–EasyPost) who took the stage, but only just from the fast approaching Florian Lipowitz (Bora-Hansgrohe).

Behind the race for the overall was just as exciting as overnight leader Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) cracked opening the door for another young Spaniard Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers) to pull on the yellow jersey.

The final stage, stage five sees the race cover 150km around the town of Vernier so read on to find out where to watch the Tour de Romandie 2024 cycling action live, wherever you are in the world.

Tour de Romandie 2024 stages

The race starts with a very short 2.3km prologue which will be contested by the overall favorites, keen to install a pecking order early on, and the short TT specialists looking for a chance to gain a leaders jersey in a big stage race.

Stage one follows the next day and it’s a lumpy 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg which will likely end in a sprint finish, although there are very view big name sprinters on the start sheet.

Stage two is where the GC action will really kick off with two huge mountains and a summit finish at Salvan/Les Marécottes. This 10km final ascent, averaging 7.3%, has slopes maxing out at 14% so will be a proper test for the climbers.

Those same climbers will the next day have to take on the 15.5km continuously undulating time trial around Oron and utilise another skill needed to win a stage race.

Stage four from Saillon to Leysin is 151.7km and takes the riders into higher territory with five classified climbs including the 10km summit finish at the end.

After this the GC battle should be stitched up with just the laps around Vernier to contend with on the final stage which will likely end in a sprint.

Covering the British Isles, Belgium, France, Italy and Spain he has been riding and racing up hills and mountains for over 30 years now. Race report Bart Lemmen, Raúl García Pierna and Nelson Oliveira break away after 10 kilometres of action. The peloton does not agree and keeps chasing until Juri Hollmann, Josef Cerny and Dorian Godon make it six at the front, and dust settles down.

The leaders initially put 4 minutes into the peloton, but the gap narrows to 30 seconds on the first climb of the day. The lead group is halved at the summit, with only the initial attackers remaining – Bart Lemmen, Raúl García Pierna, and Nelson Oliveira.

Oliveira breaks away alone on the descent, but Lemmen, García Pierna, and Godon catch up with him again in the valley. Clémen Berthet adds fresh energy to the front of the race.

Lemmen picks up the pace as the roads steepen once more, with Berthet the sole rider able to match his tempo. The Frenchman heads out alone with 52 kilometres remaining and he tackles the finishing climb 1 minute ahead of the peloton.

Egan Bernal attacks as Berthet is caught halfway up the climb. Carlos Rodriguez jumps across, with Richard Carapaz on his wheel. Leader Juan Ayuso, Aleksandr Vlasov, Florian Lipowitz, and Enric Mas also make the junction.

Lipowitz jumps clear, while Rodriguez and Carapaz follow his move. The Olympic Champion heads out alone in the last 2.2 kilometres. He seems to open up a comfortable lead, but then it’s Lipowitz who returns on the home straight. He sprints full throttle, but it’s too late, and he finishes second.

Rodriguez crosses the line 10 seconds later to take over the leader’s jersey from his compatriot Ayuso, who drops to fifth place overall.

So join us for a spin as we explain how to get a 2021 Tour de Romandie live stream and watch UCI WorldTour cycling online wherever you are in the world.

Last year's Tour de Romandie was one of the many races that fell victim to the pandemic, which means 2019 winner Roglič is still the reigning champion. The Slovenian also won the 2018 edition, but he won't be in Romandie to defend his crown.

Instead, the big names on the start list include Steven Kruijwsijk (Team Jumbo-Visma), Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe), and Miguel Ángel López (Movistar).

The opening and closing stages are both individual time trials, with the first measuring little over 4km, which can only mean one thing - a gruelling 8% climb to finish.

Stages 2 (2,262-metre elevation gain), 4 (4,157-metre elevation gain) and 5 (an individual time trial featuring several steep legs and an uphill finish), meanwhile, look especially cruel. Read on for everything you need to know to watch a 2021 Tour de Romandie live stream from anywhere in the world today.

Strecke, Fahrer und Favoriten – alle Infos zur Tour de Suisse 2024

SWISS PRESS PHOTO 24 - 3. PREIS SPORT: GIAN EHRENZELLER ?

Leader Egan Bernal from Colombia of Team Ineos at the Furka pass during the ninth and final stage, a 101.5 km race with start and finish in Goms, Switzerland, at the 83rd Tour de Suisse UCI ProTour cy ...

14-04-2024 Amstel Gold Race 2024, Uae Team Emirates Hirschi, Marc Valkenburg PUBLICATIONxNOTxINxITAxFRAxNED

Leader Egan Bernal from Colombia, 2nd right, is sourrounded by two Ineos team mates and followed by Australias Rohan Dennis, left, team Bahrain-Merida, at the Nufenen pass during the ninth and final s ...

tour of romandie live

Grote namen tekenen present in Rome

The canadian open takes center stage this week hoping to follow the fireworks of last year's tournament.

rbc-canadian-open-new-flag-g.png

The 2024 RBC Canadian Open looks a little different this year as the tournament returns to Hamilton Golf & Country Club for the first time since 2019 and seventh time in event history. Five years ago, it was Rory McIlroy who blitzed the field by seven for the first of his two Canadian Open titles, but last year, it was Nick Taylor who became a local hero.

Beating Tommy Fleetwood with a 72-foot eagle putt on the third playoff hole, Taylor became the first Canadian in 69 years to claim his home country's open. Taylor immediately vaulted himself into legend status with the win and ensuing celebration -- so much so that his silhouette is now part of the tournament logo.

Canadians will hope to break another drought this week as countrymen have not won the Canadian Open in back-to-back years since 1913-14. The field is littered with those representing the maple leaf Mackenzie Hughes appearing to be the most likely to off the feat. He will have to chase down 54-hole leader Robert MacIntyre with Fleetwood among a chasing pack.

The final round of the RBC Canadian Open takes place Sunday at Hamilton Golf & Country Club.

Robert MacIntyre leads the field by four strokes after a red-hot stretch coming down the back nine separated him from a crowded pack. MacIntyre played his final five holes 5-under par, including an eagle at the par-5 17th, to head into Sunday 14-under for the week in search of his first PGA TOUR win.

The chasing pack consists of Ben Griffin, Ryan Fox and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes all at 10-under par. Big names like Tommy Fleetwood, Sam Burns and Joel Dahmen sit at 9-under, with Rory McIlroy and Tom Kim just in striking distance at 7-under.

As it happened: Mass crash involving Evenepoel sees Dauphiné stage 5 neutralised with no winner

2024 tour de suisse – analysing the contenders.

Skjelmose defends his title against rivals including Bernal, Martinez, Carapaz and more in Switzerland

Egan Bernal, Mattias Skjelmose, Lenny Martinez are among the contenders for the 2024 Tour de Suisse

The Critérium du Dauphiné may have attracted some of the big names this year, like Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) and Primož Roglič (Bora-Hansgrohe) but that doesn't mean the Tour de Suisse is foregoing its role as an important hit out before the Tour de France .

For some, those final preparations before attention turns to the Grand Tour are the all-important factor but for others who aren't lining up in Florence – or are doing it in support of another – getting the best result they can over the eight days in Switzerland is the key aim.

Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) took an emotional overall victory last year, with the racing coming second to the human tragedy given Gino Mäder crashed on stage 5 and died.

Skjelmose again lines up to try and defend his title at the race – which begins with a 4.8km time trial in Vaduz on Sunday, June 9 and covers 950km with almost 19,000 metres in altitude gain. There, however, are plenty of rivals, including two more former winners.

Here at Cyclingnews , we've run a rule over the preliminary start list – so lineup changes are still a possibility – to pick out some of the riders who could be fighting for the top spots as the race unfolds.

Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek)

Danish champion Mattias Skjelmose is back to defend his title

Returning as defending champion after winning an emotional 2023 edition of the Tour de Suisse, the Danish rider won't be using the race as a tune-up for the Tour de France, with the eight-stage tour instead marking his return to racing as he builds toward the Olympic Games and the  Vuelta a España .

The 23-year-old hasn't pinned on a number since Liège-Bastogne-Liège but his results in the early part of the season deliver promise that Skjelmose could deliver a solid result at the race he won last year. However, there will be some serious headwinds to overcome, given the rivals he'll be lining up against.

Still, with a third at Itzulia Basque Country in April, where he was leading the race into the final stage, Skjelmose again confirmed his promise and made clear that last year's Tour de Suisse win was a sign of things to come. The Lidl-Trek rider also came fourth at Paris-Nice, winning a stage along the way.

João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates)

Almeida (right) is riding the Tour de Suisse ahead of a support role for Tadej Pogačar (left) in France

It will be the first Tour de Suisse for João Almeida before he also heads toward a Tour de France debut. The 25-year-old will, of course, be riding in support of Tadej Pogačar in the Grand Tour, so Switzerland offers the rider a chance to carve out his own results.

Almeida was regularly among the best in the longer stage races last year, stepping up onto the overall podium at Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de Pologne.

This year is yet to deliver the same results, with Almeida in a support role at both his stage races so far this year. At the Volta a Catalunya he came ninth while Pogačar claimed victory, while he took 11th at Paris-Nice as Brandon McNulty stepped onto the podium for the team.

The Tour de Suisse, however, could offer a chance for Almeida, though given Finn Fisher-Black and the rising start of Isaac Del Toro are also in the team he definitely isn't the only option for a strong overall result.

Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost)

Richard Carapaz will be preparing for his first Tour de France in EF colours

Richard Carapaz hasn't lined up at the Tour de Suisse since he won it in 2021, but he'll be using it as preparation for the Tour de France and hoping it delivers the same result, with the title in Switzerland then followed by a spot on the overall podium in Paris.

There's no chance of a complete repeat, though, as the Olympic Games road race winner in Tokyo has missed selection for the team this time around.

That may add even more fire for the upcoming battles, with the Ecuadorian road champion's strong season start at the National Championships and Tour Colombia, where he came second overall, not then initially carrying through to Europe. There was a pickup at the Tour de Romandie, where Carapaz finished seventh overall and also picked up a stage victory. It's perhaps the sign of a building momentum which could make him a real threat in Switzerland.

Enric Mas (Movistar)

Enric Mas is one of several riders warming up for the Tour de France in Switzerland

For Enric Mas, the Tour de Suisse is a lead-in race for a GC charge at the Tour de France, where his best overall result so far was fifth overall in 2020. Mas hasn't raced Suisse since 2019, when he came ninth following on from a fourth in 2018, having used the Critérium du Dauphiné as his lead-in to the French Grand Tour during the intervening years.

The change this year, after a couple of Tour de France appearances that haven't run to plan, could provide the Spanish rider to work his way up the results table, both at the event and from his GC run so far this year.

Mas has raced just three events this year, honing in on Tirreno-Adriatico where he came 12th overall, before a fifth at Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and sixth at the Tour de Romandie. The 29-year-old is the picture of consistency, with seven top-six finishes among the nine Grand Tours he has finished, so it's a good bet that we will also see him near the top of the results table at the Tour de Suisse, too.

Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers)

Egan Bernal has had his best string of results since a career-threatening training crash back in 2022

The Ineos Grenadiers rider has won the Tour de Suisse before, back in 2019 when he then went on to win the Tour de France. Much has changed through the intervening seasons but there have been promising signs in the early months of 2024 that the Colombian is on an upward trajectory.

Last year, his first full season since his horrible training crash at the start of 2022, he was on the build and managed to secure a couple of top 10s overall. This year the podium places are beginning to come through, with third overall at both O Gran Camiño and Volta a Catalunya. Perhaps the Tour de Suisse is a chance for another.

Tom Pidcock will also present another card for the team to play, with the Amstel Gold Race winner lining up in Vaduz to take on the Swiss race from June 9-16 before staying on in the nation for the UCI MTB World Cup round in Crans Montana on June 23 and then heading to off to start the Tour de France in Florence on June 29.

Lenny Martinez (Groupama-FDJ)

Lenny Martinez has enjoyed a successful opening half to his 2024 season

Groupama-FDJ have been given plenty of reason to celebrate their developing talent so far this season, with 21-year-old Laurence Pithie opening their win tally for the year at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and Lenny Martinez being the team's most prolific contributor, having already collected five wins this season.

The 20-year-old may be showing the signs of potential that mark him one of the most prized creatures in cycling – a home nation contender for a top overall result at the Tour de France. However, that is a thought best saved for the years ahead.

For Martinez, the Tour de Suisse this year is one of the building blocks toward a return appearance at the Vuelta a España, and while he may not be a top favourite for the eight-stage race his shows of increasing strength also make him a rider that is hard to ignore.

The rider, who was born in Cannes, started the season with a win at Classic Var and then a second overall at O Gran Camiño, there were then four more one-day race victories along the way and top 10 results at both Volta a Catalunya and Tour de Romandie.

Cian Uijtdebroeks (Visma-Lease a Bike)

Cian Uijtdebroeks led the Giro d'Italia young rider classification before a forced withdrawal from the race

The Giro d'Italia had been a main focus of the season for Cian Uijtdebroeks but while he ended the 10th stage in a strong fifth overall, he didn't start stage 11 as the 21-year-old was unwell with a fever. Walking away when the goal of a top-10 finish overall looked within reach was a tough outcome for the rider at their first Italian Grand Tour but the Tour de Suisse could provide some consolation.

Uijtdebroeks, then racing with Bora-Hansgrohe, came seventh at the race last year and has rarely fallen out of the top 10 in any stage race he has completed since the start of last season.

This season, his results include fifth at O Gran Camiño and seventh at Tirreno-Adriatico. It seems just a matter of time until Uijtdebroeks hits his first overall podium at a WorldTour race, and the Tour de Suisse presents an opportunity to take another step in that direction.
