What people love about bangkok tours.

Arja (Jane) was an awesome guide! Totally recommend if you only have a couple of days and wanna learn about Thai culture and WW2.
Mee was a wonderful guide who went out of her way to make our tour special.
The driver and guide were very good. The air conditioner in the van was not very good. One day when the temperature was 37 degrees outside we got in the van which was 35 degree’s which was terribly hot. It took nearly an hour for the van to cool to 28 degrees. I told the staff that the air conditioner was not acceptable. The next day there was tape over the thermometer so we couldn’t see the inside temperature. The staff took some effort to let the air conditioner continue when we were out of the van and the inside temperature remained too warm but not as hot as the first day.

Food in Bangkok

When it comes to street food, few places in the world will beat Bangkok. A hotspot for food lovers and all things sweet, spicy and quick, the city's streets are always ripe with the smell of fresh street food from a variety of vendors and stalls. While you will come across the popular offerings of burgers, fries, chicken and more, what you should really gorge on are the traditional dishes.

  • Pad Thai -  Served with green cilantro, red pepper flakes, yellow limes, shrimps, Pad Thai is stir-fried rice noodles and one of Thailand's national dishes.
  • Thai Boat Noodles (Kuay Teow Reua) -  Kuay Teow Reua was initially sold on boats. Though you may no longer find vendors selling it on boats, you can still enjoy this delicacy near the riverside stalls.
  • Thai Crepes (Khanom Bueang) -  These crepes resemble small tacos which are hard to resist. They are stuffed with whipped cream, shredded coconut, and roasted peanuts.
  • Thai Green Curry Chicken (Gaeng Keow Wan Gai)-  This dish is made with green chillies, sweet basil leaves, lime leaves and green eggplants which give the curry a lovely green hue.
  • Thai Tea (Cha Yen) -  Inspired by the masala chai of India, Thai tea is a refreshingly spicy tea made from black tea leaves and flavoured with cinnamon, star anise, orange blossom water, and vanilla. Milk is poured over the tea before serving to give it a creamy texture. Fried breadstick (Youtiao) goes along well with this tea.
  • Sticky Mango Rice (Khao Neow Mamuang) -  This traditional summer street food in Bangkok will surely satisfy your sweet tooth. Freshly cut juicy mango slices are placed on sticky rice and sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds. You can try this dessert with durian as well.

Best Time to Visit Bangkok

Although it is a year-round destination, the best time to visit Bangkok is from November to February. These months are the winter months when the temperature is generally more pleasant making it favourable for travel within the country.

Experiences cherished: The Grand Palace, Chinatown, The Ferris Wheel

Come back for: Safari World and Marine Park, Cruise Ride

Our honeymoon to Bangkok was the best experience we had with a superb tour package. On our first day we visited the Grand Palace which was beautiful. It was the oldest and most sacred palace to visit. It was built in 1782 and we visited the museum presented inside the palace. It was a majestic spot and one of the beautiful places our tour package for Bangkok could offer. Our tour continued with a visit to the Asiatique Ferris Wheel where we took a ride to witness the enchanting skyline view. This Ferris Wheel comprises of 42 gondolas and rises high to 60 metres. The Ferris Wheel is one of the main landmark of Bangkok and we had a spectacular time due to our awesome Bangkok tour package. After dinner, we went back to our hotel for a couples massage. It was a wonderful and much needed massage. It included organic ingredients which is great for the body. The package we took for Bangkok gave us wonderful experiences. On the next day, we went to see the Ananta Samakhom Throne hall which is set inside the Dusit Palace. It was built in 1915 with an elegant neoclassical architecture. It is surrounded by lush green gardens and we were able to feel nature luring all over the place. We had a wonderful time at the spot thanks to our amazing package we grabbed. To conclude our Bangkok tour , we visited Chinatown. We had a hefty meal there and did some shopping too. The streets were filled with lights and colours which highlights our tour in the city. It was overall an awesome experience and the best honeymoon one could ever have.

If you plan on staying longer as a tourist, or if you are traveling for a reason, such as study or business, you may need a visa.

When is the best time to visit Thailand?

Thailand's climate is generally hot, humid and at times (like other South-East Asian countries) monsoonal. The seasons differ from coast to coast, so depending on which areas you're visiting, the weather can vary.

Thailand's north, east and west are great to visit from November to February, when the weather is cooler and dryer. If heading south, it's best to travel from January to April as these months provide conditions optimal for diving and snorkeling. This is peak time, however, so be aware that popular places like Chiang Mai, Ko Samui and Phuket can get particularly busy. It can also get quite busy from July to August as it's the northern hemisphere school holidays.

The monsoon season is from July to November, so it can get quite wet and the weather may be uncomfortably hot and humid for those who aren't accustomed to it. Yet traveling during this time can provide a different picture of Thailand, and is generally a less crowded time of year. March to June is less wet but is the hottest time in terms of temperatures. If you don't mind the heat then this can be a good time to go on holiday to Thailand to avoid the crowds.

Can I drink the tap water in Thailand?

Drinking tap water isn’t recommended in Thailand. Avoid drinks with ice and make sure to peel fruit before eating it. Help the environment and try to avoid buying bottled water. Instead, fill a reusable water bottle with filtered water. Your leader or hotel can tell you where to find filtered water.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance before traveling?

Absolutely. All passengers traveling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.

For more information on insurance, please go to: Travel Insurance

Is tipping customary in Thailand?

Tipping isn’t customary in Thailand, but feel free to leave restaurants, drivers or service workers a small tip if the service has been particularly good. It’s always appreciated.

"Although the Grand Palace is a must-see, it is also a one time only type of site. There are several Wats that should be visited during your trip in Bangkok. I HIGHLY recommend visiting Wat Arun around sunset. As well as stops at Wat Pho, Wat Ratchanatdaram, and The Golden Mount (Wat Saket)." – Pamela Macnaughtan

"If Bangkok were a person, the safest term to describe its personality would be ‘eccentric’, perhaps even downright insane. One night in Bangkok can indeed make a hard man humble and the tough guys tumble. It, after all, is a roller coaster of a city, bringing you down at one point and then introducing you the highest of highs. Thailand’s capital is energetic and passive, bright and dingy, welcoming and cold, all at the same time. I consider myself fortunate enough to have seen the multiple facets of Bangkok on seven different occasions." – Sumedha Bharpilania
