All the Harry Potter Filming Locations You Can Visit in Real Life
You can't apparate, but you can fly there!
Sadly for all of us Harry Potter fans, Hogwarts only exists on the page/screen (and in our minds!). But the sets and locations that brought the movies to life do very much exist . The movies were one big love letter to the U.K., and many of these locations are available to at least walk around. You might even be able to find a Potter-themed tour, while you're at it. Here are the filming locations to visit that'll satisfy all your cravings for movies, muggles, and magic. Accio!
Picket Post Close, Bracknell
Also known as the " Harry Potter house," this actual residence was used as the set for No. 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, in the first two films. It was auctioned off in 2003; It's probably still a private residence, so we wouldn't recommend asking to go inside, but you can certainly walk around.
London Zoo's Reptile House, London
Harry frees a python and realizes he can talk to snakes in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Both inside and outside the real-life Reptile House were used for this scene.
Big Ben, London
It's just for a moment, but Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are two landmarks in the background when Harry first travels to London with Hagrid.
Leadenhall Market, London
This famous covered market in London is where Hagrid takes Harry to the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron Pub (42 Bull's Head Passage, in real life).
King's Cross Station, London
Hagrid takes Harry to King's Cross so he can board a train to his new wizarding home.
At the time of shooting, platforms 4 and 5 were apparently temporarily re-numbered 9 and 10. There actually is still a Platform 9 3/4 sign to this day (although you can't board the Hogwarts Express, sadly) with a cute disappearing trolley.
King's Cross was also used in other Harry Potter films, all the way through Deathly Hallows .
Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glenfinnan
Goathland train station, goathland.
And this station served as the location of Hogsmeade Station, where the students get off for Hogwarts.
Alnwick Castle, Northumberland
In the first and second Harry Potter films, Alnwick Castle acted as the set for Hogwarts; A number of other productions have also filmed there, including Downton Abbey and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves .
The location is stunning and expansive. It also (if you happen to be a fan of the Royal Family as well) was the location for Prince William's BFF Thomas van Straubenzee's wedding to Lady Melissa Percy.
Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester
The cathedral doubled as the inside of Hogwarts on multiple movies, including The Sorcerer's Stone, The Chamber of Secrets , and The Half Blood Prince .
Including when Harry and Ron spot an enormous troll down a long hallway.
And here's a shot of the late Alan Rickman (a treasure, gone too soon) shooting The Half-Blood Prince .
Harrow School, Harrow
Professor Flitwick teaches Harry how to use a wand in the Harrow School's Fourth Form Room (the classroom dates all the way back to 1615). The Crown has also apparently shot at Harrow School. There are public tours , but check to see when.
Duke Humfrey's Library, Oxford
The scenes in the Hogwarts Library—where Hermione reads, where Harry steals a restricted book—was one of a few locations filmed at Oxford.
Divinity School, Oxford
In The Half-Blood Prince , Ron recovers in the infirmary after being poisoned—which was actually shot inside the Divinity School.
New College Cloister, Oxford
In The Goblet of Fire , Mad-Eye Moody transforms Draco Malfoy into a ferret, right in this courtyard.
Christ Church Dining Hall, Oxford
And, even though filming actually didn't take place in this iconic dining hall, it was the inspiration for the Great Hall at Hogwarts.
Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire
The abbey served as another set for Hogwarts. Harry is chosen for the Quidditch team and attends Snape's classes here. Yes, you can take tours of the abbey.
Durham Cathedral, Durham
And Durham Cathedral also contributed exterior and interior locations for various scenes in the early films...
...including one where Harry walked with Hedwig through a snowy, secluded courtyard.
This Scottish village was used for many an outdoor shot—the bridge to Hogwarts and Hagrid's hut, to name a couple. It's as close as we'll probably get to an actual Hogwarts campus.
Virginia Water, Windsor
Meanwhile, this was the set of Hogwart's Lake when Harry rode on a hippogriff, as well as scenes between Harry, Ron, and Hermione in The Goblet of Fire .
Loch Shiel, Highlands
Several Scotland lakes (lochs) were used in The Prisoner of Azkaban (where Harry finally summons his Patronus). Loch Eilt and Loch Morar were also used.
Warner Bros. Studio, Leavesden
When the cast and crew weren't headed off to a historical location, they shot primarily at the studio in Leavesden. Here, for Goblet of Fire , tents were set up for the Quidditch World Cup (they likely don't exist anymore, but there's plenty more at the studio).
The studio now has a very detailed Harry Potter tour , with sets, costumes, and all sorts of props from the various films.
Oh yeah, and Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Prince Harry all visited for the opening of the attraction in 2013. Here's the set used to depict Diagon Alley.
Here, Prince Harry visits the set of The Burrow (the Weasley house).
And the trio visit the Great Hall of Hogwarts (so impressive)!
Also included in the tour , models of important buildings like Hogwarts...
...and some of the (creepy) makeup effects and prosthetics.
It's a Potterhead's dream, basically.
Borough Market, London
This bustling area served as the updated locale of the Leaky Cauldron (IRL: The Market Porter Pub) in The Prizoner of Azkaban .
London Eye, London
During The Order of the Phoenix , the Order flies over London on broomsticks; the London Eye's just one of the landmarks you can spot in the background.
Buckingham Palace, London
And you can spot Buckingham Palace in the background, as well as Big Ben and the Tower Bridge.
Millennium Bridge, London
In one of the most horrifying scenes of the series, the Millennium Bridge is attacked by Death Eaters in The Half-Blood Prince and collapses into the Thames River.
Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire
Hardwick Hall was used for interior and exterior shots of Deathly Hallows—Part 1 for Malfoy Manor, the Death Eaters'/Voldemort's home base.
Piccadilly Circus, London
This bustling square was the site of a particularly key scene in Deathly Hallows—Part 1 ...
...where Death Eaters attack Harry, Hermione, and Ron in a diner in London.
Swinley Forest, Windsor
Windsor's Great Park served as the location of Harry, Hermione, and Ron's refuge when they're on the run from Death Eaters and Voldemort.
De Vere House, Lavenham
This picturesque house was used in Deathly Hallows—Part 2 for Harry's family home in Godric's Hollow—where Harry's parents died and where the trio is attacked by Nagini. It's unclear if you can go inside, but the village is gorgeous.
Freshwater West, Pembrokeshire
This was the location of Shell Cottage , the house of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour (sadly it's now been dismantled). The cast and crew, seen here, filmed at the nearby beach. In this scene, the characters have just jumped off a dragon after escaping Gringotts in Deathly Hallows—Part 2 .
So you can literally walk in Harry Potter's/Daniel Radcliffe's footsteps, if you so choose.

The Diagon Alley set constantly changed throughout the Harry Potter series. Though, the street’s initial design included rich elements from the Harry Potter books with influence from streets described in Charles Dickens’ works. Since its construction, walls have shifted, shop fronts have moved and entire buildings have been carefully tweaked, to make them look slightly leaning, to create the street that is seen in the films. For Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, several of the Diagon Alley set pieces were re-dressed for usage in the village of Hogsmeade.
Gringotts Bank, Flourish and Blotts, and Mr. Mulpepper’s Apothecary are all located in Diagon Alley, as is the famous Harry Potter London shop for wands, Ollivanders.
Fun fact – During filming, the wand shop had over 17,000 individually labeled wand boxes.
The Forbidden Forest in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was shot on location as well as in the studio. For Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, this was moved entirely to the Studio to house the infamous acromantula spider Aragog’s lair, and it grew throughout the film series. Scenic artists created backdrops that were up to 600 feet long for the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Fun fact – The Harry Potter Studio Tour Forbidden Forest contains 19 trees, each with a diameter of over 12 feet.
Platform 9 ¾
In the movies, hundreds of students were taken from Platform 9 ¾ in King’s Cross station, London to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Scotland by the Hogwarts Express. Most of the scenes on Platform 9 ¾ were shot on location at King’s Cross Station in London, however for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, a section of the station platform was reconstructed on a stage at Leavesden, complete with track and the train.
The external views of the train were created using actual trains and passenger carriages on sites across the United Kingdom, while all the sequences that take place inside the train were created using a built-in set of interior carriage sets. The green screen background in the windows was changed with moving backdrops and special effects such as hopping Chocolate Frogs and flying Dementors by visual effects teams working on the movies.
Fun fact – The Hogwarts Express served as the backdrop for the series’ very first shot in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, as well as the series’ very last scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, ten years later.
The costumes, the art department, special & visual effects, creature effects.

A Magical Guide to the Warner Bros Studio Tour in London: Everything You Need to Know
Last Updated: February 16, 2022
Fact: In my entire life, I’ve only cried once at a tourist attraction.
And judge me all you want, but this cryfest happened at a Harry Potter studio tour.
… Allow me to explain myself.
Like most children born in the 90s, much of my youth was spent daydreaming about the arrival of my Hogwart’s acceptance letter. As this dream dwindled with the hardships of adulting, I instead took comfort in carbs and magical movie marathons.
But, it didn’t take much for these childhood dreams to resurface. A trip to London was all it took to re-open the floodgates (literally).
Let me tell you: for a Harry Potter fan, there is no attraction on this Earth more overwhelming and amazing than the Warner Bros Studio Tour London, (AKA London’s Harry Potter set tour), which brings you through the filming site for all 8 movies in the Harry Potter franchise.
In addition to sets, you’re also shown countless props, the best gift shop in the world, and even a chance to taste butter beer for yourself. Come on now, is it at all a surprise that I bawled when I got to the end?
Read onwards for important info to know about the tour, some tips to keep in mind and of course, a recap of the experience (with plenty of photos!) Be careful for this section, as spoilers are abound!
PS: Check out my full list of Harry Potter themed attractions and experiences in London for more nerdy goodness.
Basic information to know about the Harry Potter Set Tour
If you’re interested in booking the epic Warner Bros Studio Tour in London for yourself, then here are some basic must-knows.
Harry Potter Studio Tour Tickets Info:
I first visited this attraction in 2014 and it was a hot mess then, and has only grown in popularity in the past few years.
If this Harry Potter set tour is a must-do for you, then make sure you book your tickets WELL in advance or you risk not being able to go!
Luckily, even when tickets are sold out on the main site, there are tours you can book online that will have tickets available for sold out dates.
Sometimes, booking with a tour is worthwhile because you not only guarantee your tickets, you also get the convenience of private transport there, which is nice and much less stressful than using public transport yourself.
Here is a breakdown of different Harry Potter Studio tour options that include transport. For your convenience, I also lay out their costs and what they have to offer:
Tickets can also be purchased online from the studio itself here.
How to Get to the Warner Bros Studio Tour in London:
Despite its name, the Warner Bros Studio London is actually located in Leavesden, which is northwest of London.
While booking a tour/private transport is the easiest and most convenient way to get there, it is still quite painless to reach via public transit, as a shuttle bus runs from Watford Junction railway station.
To get to the Watford Junction station, you need to make use of London’s overground system.
Not sure about the best route to get there? Check out this handy trip planner . The tour’s website recommends that you arrive at Watford Junction 45 minutes prior to your tour time.
Remember to bring change, as the cost for the shuttle bus is 2 pounds each way.
NOTE : Leave a lot of leeway for you to get there. We definitely got lost a few times due to the transfers, and were stressed to the max! For a more stress-free experience, consider prebooking a tour that comes with transport. Here’s one for under $100USD.
Tips for Doing the Harry Potter Set Tour Like a Pro
Having addressed the basics, here are some tips you should keep in mind when planning your visit:
1. Check on the Warner Bros Studio Tour website for special events
The studio tour often has special weeks during which there are specialized displays or demonstrations.
If you have quite some time in London, I suggest looking up when special events are happening and to plan accordingly.
I was luckily around for the beginning of Wand Week, so I got to see wandmakers do their thing and I even got to pose with some Death Eaters. Super cool!
2. Allow extra time for travel
Especially if you are new to London, trying to navigate the transit there can take time, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive at the studio.
That being said, do not hyperventilate if your ticketed time is fast approaching. While the reservation system does assign you a time, they won’t turn you away if you are a bit late.
3. Don’t forget to print your Warner Bros Studio Tour ticket
This will make the whole process smoother.
One girl that came with us didn’t print hers and upon arrival, she realized that her order never actually went through.
Luckily, even though they claim there is no box office at the attraction, she was able to purchase a ticket there, but do book in advance to save yourself the trouble.
4. Set yourself a budget for magical souvenirs
Trust me, when you enter the Harry Potter Studio Tour Shop for the first time, you will lose all sense of self control.
You will suddenly want all these things that you would never need.
Legit wizard robe? Okay!
Replica wand? Yes please.
There are so many amazingly crafted souvenirs for sale that you will easily empty your wallet.
For budget-conscious backpackers (like me) or large families with crying children, setting a budget beforehand is a must.
5. Grab yourself a free Warner Bros Studio Tour London passport
At some point during the tour, you might notice children getting awesome embossed stamps on a Harry Potter passport.
Uh, yeah, those are actually not just for kids!
I shamelessly (and sweetly) asked a staff member for one, and they kindly obliged.
Getting the stamps is fun and having a Harry Potter passport is pretty much the best souvenir ever.
6. Be sure to check out other Harry Potter filming locations around the UK too
If you’ve made it all the way to Leavesden, you’re actually pretty close to a variety of other Harry Potter filming locations!
While this set tour is of course incredible, there are dozens of other real-life filming locations scattered around the UK that you can visit for yourself. Click here for a full list.
Harry Potter Set Tour Recap with Photos
With those tips out of the way, I’d love to show you some photos and a brief overview of the experience from my visit in 2014. Note that they have added a lot since then, but still…
WARNING: spoilers, spoilers, spoilers.
Some would say that the best way to experience this tour is by seeing everything first hand, but if you are curious to see photos and more, feel free to scroll further.
Your magical experience begins as soon as you walk into the building. All around the lobby are canvases with various Harry Potter characters, as well as props and other cool artifacts hanging off the walls.
Even the task of waiting in line (typically the most mundane thing ever) is a joy for this tour.
The queue moves very quickly and there is plenty for you to nerd out about as you wait.
Most notably, Harry’s cupboard under the stairs , is right next to the queuing area, ensuring that you get a perfect view of this iconic set.
You’ll notice that groups are taken in based on their spot in line, rather than their timed reservation.
This is why there is some flexibility when it comes to your arrival time.
If you’re a few minutes late, no worries, just hop in the queue and you will make it in all-the-same.
The tour begins with a brief video introduction to the franchise, followed by a preshow featuring Rupert, Daniel and Emma themselves.
As this preshow concludes, the screen reveals the doors to the Great Hall! During my tour, they invited any birthday kids to come up and help open the doors.
After seriously wishing it was my birthday, I bitterly watched two ecstatic kids live out their childhood dreams, revealing the first stop of the tour, the amazing…
1. Great Hall!
This is the the only part of the tour where your time will be limited, as they let tour groups in every few minutes.
As such, if you want photos, be sure to snap them quickly !
Being in this room is an unreal feeling. In addition to the long tables, cutlery and elaborate set pieces, you also get to view costumes from students in each house, and important Hogwarts faculty as well!
2. The Big Room
After your time in the Great Hall, you are brought into the Big Room , which houses a variety of sets, props and costumes.
Here, you are given free reign to explore for yourself and gawk at all the amazing pieces the room contains!
Highlights for me were definitely the Potions classroom (complete with a Snape costume on display), the Gryffindor Common Room and the Weasley House .
Many of the sets also have interactive buttons where you can make objects move by pressing them.
This was especially cool in the Weasley kitchen, where the touch of a button could make an iron move on its own, make vegetables chop themselves, etc. Super neat!
For those seeking a sweet photo opp, there are several green screen opportunities to ride a broom as a Quidditch player and more! I didn’t wait in line for this bit, but it definitely looked like a lot of fun! Here are some photos from the Big Room:
3. The Backlot
After perusing the Big Room, you are brought outside to the Backlot , home to a variety of sets including Harry’s Privet Drive home , the Hogwarts Bridge , the Knight Bus and of course, the concession stands!
It’s at this point in the tour that you can live out your childhood fantasy of sipping a nice, cold butterbeer.
Be sure to explore the bridge before you purchase a butterbeer, as no food or drink is allowed on that set.
Now, while public opinion seems to be split on the taste of butterbeer, I have to say that I. loved. every. single. sip.
It’s very possible that I was blinded by the magic of my surroundings, but I would argue that it’s worth a try regardless!
NOTE: If you want to purchase a souvenir cup, remember to bring a bag or something to wrap it in, as that stuff can get mighty sticky. Here’s a sample of the cool things you’ll see in the backlot!
4. Art Department, Creature Effects and Diagon Alley
When you’re ready to go back inside, countless wonders from the creature effects & art department await you. Here, you really get to appreciate the depth of work put into creating a whole magical world.
I was really wowed by everything.
In this area, you will see masks, wigs, models and more of your favourite magical creatures.
In this second half of the tour as well, you get to walk through Diagon Alley. The details and work in the set will absolutely blow you away. The shops look so real, you’ll be tempted to go knocking on their doors.
5. Hogwarts Castle Model
And lastly, the grand finale of the Harry Potter set tour… The model of Hogwarts!
This one here is a real showstopper.
A walkway surrounding the model allows you to view it from all angles, taking in the fine details of this wonderful school.
For many Harry Potter fans, seeing the castle like this is a dream come true. Now, if only it were real!
At the end of the tour, just before the entrance of the Harry Potter Studio Tour Shop, you will see this wonderfully beautiful quote appear on the screen:
It was at this point that I began to bawl. I couldn’t help it!
Everything that I loved about the series had been shown to me in the past few hours, and for that short period of time, I got to live out my dream of seeing the magical world that made my childhood.
Messy and gross, I walked into the gift shop, which was a massive treasure trove of things you never knew you wanted or needed. Wands for every character? I’ll take 100.
And there you have it, the most magical experience ever . One day, I will visit the Wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but until then, I think this tour has given me enough happy & geeky memories to last. …. At least for the next little while.

Enjoyed every bit of your blog article.Much thanks again. Really Cool.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
bookmarked!!, I like your blog!
thanks Jane!! 😀
Hi Christina! I’m going to be traveling alone to London this week, would the Harry Potter tour be fun for a solo traveler? Also, I was considering buying a groupon for a night tour, but the picture of you holding the butter beer appears to be outside? I guess we would be missing this part of the tour if I went at night then eh?
hi Lisa, I hope this comment isn’t too late! but YES YES YES the tour would 100% still be fun as a solo traveler (provided that you like Harry Potter haha). I didn’t realize they had a special night tour, but the butterbeer was outside in a special lot where they had lots of big props and set pieces (it’s part of the tour) so I can’t imagine they would leave it out for any reason. I have my fingers crossed for you!
Thank you for this article and the pics. I always need to take a peek of the atmosphere beforehand since I’m going solo. I hope they will let me use my selfie stick inside.

The official announcement came just hours after Universal revealed a seven-minute sneak peek into Epic Universe, confirming all the new lands coming to the latest theme park in 2025.
The land will include rides, a Starfall Racers racing coaster, and a carousel inspired by constellations. It will also feature a lush, green world with thrills, entertainment, dining, and shopping.
Epic Universe is scheduled to open in the summer of 2025 and will take up almost 750 acres of land, almost twice the size of EPCOT and seven times that of The Magic Kingdom .
Universal CityWalk is a shopping, dining, and entertainment area beside Universal’s theme parks. It’s not part of admission, but some say it’s a place to shop hop and enjoy the environment. Universal CityWalk has many options, including snacky options, a food court, and several places to get ice cream. Some stores are unique, but items can be pricey.
Aside from this location opening inside of CityWalk, Universal is also gearing up to overhaul its Wand experiences within Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida.

Harry Potter: 7 Best Stores You Can Visit
- Real-life stores offer Harry Potter fans a chance to indulge in their love for the Wizarding World with accessible and collectible items, such as Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods.
- Muggle's Version of Magical Menagerie sells super cute plush toys resembling magical creatures, enriching Potterheads' knowledge of the magical creatures in the Harry Potter universe.
- The biggest Harry Potter shop on Broadway offers 15 different themed areas and magical decorations, including a floating model of Fawkes, providing fans with an unforgettable Harry Potter experience.
Within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter , many magical stores supply wizards with their daily necessities, such as wands for spellcasting in both school and professional settings (or the occasional Death Eater hunting), and the magical sweets that are manned by certain Weasley twins. These magical stores, ultimately, are fictional.
Harry Potter: 7 Best Christmas Moments In The Movies, Ranked
However, there are also real-life stores that are filled with items from the Harry Potter series that can satisfy even the most hardcore Pottermore with their fascination with the Wizarding World. These stores are also quite famous among diehard fans of the series due to their accessibility and collection of items.
Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods
Located at universal studios hollywood.
Despite not being a very big fan of the students of Hogwarts, or children in general, Mr. Filch is one of the most beloved characters in Harry Potter . His antiques of being the school's caretaker can be annoying for some students, especially the jokester types such as Fred and George Weasley , as he often confiscated items taken from the students. However, one must be curious about those banned objects.
Fret not, Potterheads can visit this fun store that sells "illegal" items, such as the Marauder's Map, the Sorting Hat, Death Eater masks, and many more! Just make sure not to let Mr. Filch know of this store's existence, he may lose his temper.
Muggle's Version of Magical Menagerie
Located at universal studios florida.
If the real Magical Menagerie handles all things related to magical pets, this muggle version of the store sells super cute plush toys resembling the creatures. There is a wide variety of "creatures" sold; Crookshanks, Fang, Buckbeak, Fluffy, Scabbers, Cornish pixies, ferrets, Pygmy Puffs, and owls of different colors, including Pigwidgeon and Hedwig.
8 Best Pets In Harry Potter, Ranked
The store is decorated with cages, animal toys, keychains, and plushies, and it is the cutest thing ever. There one can also learn about different creatures that exist in the Harry Potter universe, enriching their knowledge of the magical creatures. It’s worth a visit as the magical pets are very adorable and are waiting to be adopted.
Borgin and Burkes, Without The Poisonous Items
Just like in the series, the muggle version of Borgin and Burkes is heavily decorated with odd and spooky things, such as cobwebs, skulls, and other terrifying knickknacks. However, fret not, unlike the real Borgin and Burkes, they do not sell cursed necklaces, real human skeletons, or vanishing cabinets.
There is an infamous vanishing cabinet displayed in the store, but its ability to vanish things is kind of questionable. One might even see Draco Malfoy lurking around the stores, if lucky. Nonetheless, this unique store is worth visiting, as they sell witch's hats, Harry Potter-related clothes, decorated skulls, and many more.
Located at universal studios japan.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the specific era where people begin to notice Hermione's sense of style, on top of her incredible intellect that has been extremely important in getting Harry and Ron out of, or through, trouble.
7 Reasons Why Hermione Granger Would Have Made A Great Hogwarts Professor
Hermione's dress in the Yule Ball is one of the prettiest dresses ever, and if one wants to own a similar dress, then Gladrags Wizardwear would be the place to visit. Located in Universal Studios Japan, this shop is perfect for fashionistas who also happen to be Potterheads. They sell apparel, accessories, jewelry, and even fancy dress robes. Perfect for those who are preparing for their own Yule Ball event.
The Biggest Harry Potter Shop
Located on broadway, new york.
The newest addition to the Harry Potter shops is located at 935 Broadway, New York, United States. Offering 15 different themed areas, this store is officially one of the biggest Harry Potter store chains in the world. Not only that, the details that the designer of the shop put into the decoration are definitely magical .
For instance, upon entering the place, a visitor will see a floating model of Fawkes, weighing over 100kg. Not only that, for Lord Voldemort's enthusiasts , a visitor can also see a giant snake's floating model as well. Other than selling merchandise, the store offers a lot of photo spots, from London-style phone boxes to Hagrid's gigantic boots. The store's management is also planning to venture into the world of VR, which will further enhance a fans' Harry Potter experience.
The perfect hang-out place (part of harry potter new york).
After running around to collect magical items and merchandise , it's only natural for Potterheads to be thirsty and exhausted. Fret not, Butterbeer Bar is the perfect answer to this problem. Not only do they sell Butterbeer with the perfect cozy and magical ambiance, but they also sell draft Butterbeer, bottled Butterbeer, and most importantly, Butterbeer ice cream.
Harry Potter: 5 Tasty Things You Should Know About Butterbeer
Brewed and made in the United Kingdom, the bottles of Butterbeer are also the perfect souvenirs to remember the amazing times spent in the magical bar. Designed by the ever-talented duo MinaLima, the labels are crafted beautifully, in the style of the Wizarding World. This bar is also definitely the perfect place for any Potterheads who want to meet and socialize with fellow Harry Potter fans.
The Harry Potter Shop On Platform 9 (and Three Quarters)
Located at king's cross station, london.
This amazing Harry Potter Shop is everything any Potterhead asks for. Visitors can also take pictures on the iconic Platform 9 ¾, albeit with a pretty long queue. Well, can't help it, it's the legendary Platform 9 ¾.

At its Max streaming event in April 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed a new era is coming for Harry Potter fans . The company announced a TV series based on all seven books about the boy wizard written by J.K. Rowling . See below for the most current answers to the most important questions about the project.
What is the Harry Potter TV series about?

‘The Last Of Us’: Catherine O’Hara Joins Season 2 Of HBO Series In Undisclosed Guest Role
Early reports had each season of the series focusing on one book in the Harry Potter book series, which consists of seven novels, but Bloys said the project would run for “10 consecutive years,” which would seem to defy the 1 season, 1 book assertion. For those who say Fantastic Beasts could be leveraged to provide 10 seasons over 10 years, WBD brass said specifically during the announcement that FB will not be a part of the series.
Whatever the case, Bloys promised that, as the company embarks on its new Harry Potter adventure, “We do so with the full care and craft of this franchise.”
Who Is creating the Harry Potter series?
It has taken a bit, given the initial announcement was in April 2023, but in recent months Warner Bros. invited a select group of creatives in to pitch ideas for what the series could be.
Martha Hillier, Kathleen Jordan, Tom Moran and Michael Lesslie were among the original group who presented their visions to the streaming service and Warner Bros. Television, sources said. It’s an interesting mix of Brits and Americans, most of whom have some experience working with streamers and many of whom have shepherded projects in the sci-fi/fantasy space.
We’ve heard that the group of writers were commissioned by Max to create pitches for a series reflecting their take on the IP. Rowling is understood to be involved in this pitching process.
Martha Hillier is a British writer who was executive producer of Netflix and BBC fantasy series The Last Kingdom as well as the spinoff film The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die . She got her start on British soaps including EastEnders and Holby City .
Kathleen Jordan created Netflix series Teenage Bounty Hunters . Jordan is also working with the Orange Is The New Black streamer on The Decameron , which received a series order in 2022.
Tom Moran is a British writer, who created Amazon series The Devil’s Hour , which starred Peter Capaldi. He also worked on Amazon sci-fi series The Feed and Rob Lowe cop drama Wild Bill .
Michael Lesslie wrote The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and was exec producer of AMC’s John Le Carre drama The Little Drummer Girl , which starred Florence Pugh, Michael Shannon and Alexander Skarsgard. At one stage, he was attached to Peacock’s reboot of Battlestar Galactica .
In late 2023, the top choices were expected to go on to the next round in the U.K., potentially meeting with Rowling herself.
A decision is expected soon. Max and Warner Bros. Television declined to comment.
When will the Harry Potter series be released?
The series is expected to be on air in 2025/26, and given that Warner Bros. Discovery embarked last year on a high-profile revamp of its streaming service, even changing its name from HBO Max to just Max, it’s a pretty good bet the company wants Harry Potter casting his spell on viewers soonish.
Ditto J.K. Rowling, whose production company posted a 74% drop in profits in 2022. That rebounded somewhat after the stage version of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child proved to be a post-pandemic crowd pleaser. The author got a $10.5 million paycheck for it in 2023.
The success of the stage show demonstrates that there’s still an appetite for Hogwarts-related content. Likewise the massive hit that is Hogwarts Legacy, which became the bestselling video game of 2023 , moving 22 million units. (That’s fantastic, but for comparison Rowling’s seven bestselling Harry Potter books have moved 600M copies worldwide.)
At a Goldman Sachs conference this week, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav made pointed out the need for more Hogwarts magic explicitly. Ignoring the Harry-less Fantastic Beasts films, the CEO insisted the boy wizard presents a huge opportunity, claiming that the IP has been “underused” of late.
“We haven’t done anything with Harry Potter for more than a decade,” he said, before going on to note that when one examines the performance of Warner Bros. over the last 20 years without accounting for it’s big three — Potter , Lord of the Rings and DC — the company’s performance is “relatively flat.”
Zaslav called that type of big-ticket IP “one of the big differentiators of this company.” And he seems to be counting on it to make a big difference.
“When you put those franchises in, it’s the best-performing studio in the world. We need to deploy our best capital, and we need to do it with the best creative people in the world,” he said.
How to watch the series
In addition, WBD’s other current epic literary adaptation, House of the Dragon , is available not only on the company’s streaming service, but also to cable subscribers on HBO. The Potter series will follow suit, according to execs. So if you have HBO via your cable provider, you’re all set.
If you’re in Canada, WBD has struck a multi-year licensing agreement with Crave for the likes of Harry Potter , Game of Thrones , the DC Universe and HBO content.
Which actors are starring in the series? Are any of the original Harry Potter stars returning?
There will be new actors playing the series’ main characters, but no one has been cast yet. Warner Bros. TV Group Chairman Channing Dungey said recently that that casting will come after they find a showrunner.
As for that, Warner Bros. is very likely looking to cast young actors, given that they’re proceeding through Rowling’s books in order. “The tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are on the younger end, around 11 or 12,” said Dungey of the casting process.
“We have been trying to be very close to the vest,” said Bloys. “We haven’t gone out to agencies. We have our own internal process where we’ve been thinking about people but we have not wanted to go out into the world. Now that the news is out there…we’ll start going out to the business.”
As for a return of any of the film franchise’s stars — like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson or Rupert Grint — never say never. It would certainly be a PR boost for the series and, while new actors will be cast in the primary roles, there are always flashforwards or the currently en vogue multiverse plot ploy that could create space for more familiar faces in the series.
But Daniel Radcliffe has said he is fine with sitting on the sidelines.
“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere,” Radcliffe told ComicBook.com . “So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
Another longtime Potter player who likely won’t be involved is David Yates, who directed the last four movies, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) and Deathly Hallows Part One and Two (2010 and 2011). In addition, Yates took on the Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts trilogy. He says there has been no conversation about his involvement with the series. And it sounds like he’s ok with that.
“Huge affection and a lovely group of people I worked with,” Yates told Deadline . “But we haven’t had a conversation since we finished it.”
“It’s been about ‘Let’s just park it, and be done for a while,'” he said of the Potter franchise.
“Never say never, I would say, but I’m excited about moving on,” he said.

Will J.K. Rowling be involved in the new Harry Potter TV series?
Rowling and longtime confederates Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts are exec producing, so she is expected to be involved in the decision-making on the series. David Heyman, who developed the films, was talks to do the same. Rowling’s Brontë Film and TV is producing with Warner Bros. Television. Brontë Film and TV was founded by Rowling and her literary agent, Neil Blair, in 2012.
“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series,” said Rowling in a statement.
Since Warners launched its streaming service, there’s always been a goal to exploit Warners’ biggest franchise for streaming. Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav, taking the reigns after the merger last year, met with Rowling several times in the UK. He’s even spoken up in support of the author, who has been involved in an ongoing controversy over her comments on transgender issues . Asked about the streaming event about those controversies, Bloys demurred.
“No, I don’t think this is the forum [to discuss that],” he said. “That’s a very online conversation, very nuanced and complicated and not something we’re going to get into.”
“Our priority is what’s on the screen,” Bloys continued. “Obviously, the Harry Potter story is incredibly affirmative and positive and about love and self-acceptance. That’s our priority — what’s on screen.”
As for how close the author will be to the series, Bloys said, “[Rowling] will be involved. She’s an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that.”
He was clear, however, that WBD wasn’t entirely dependent on Rowling for the project.
“The TV show is new and we’re excited about that. But, remember, we’ve been in the Potter business for 20 years. This is not a new decision for us, we’re very comfortable being in the Potter business.”
How much will the series cost to produce?
“You know we make shows at this scale with House of the Dragon , Game of Thrones ,” said Bloys. “I imagine will be that scale or higher. The shorter answer is whatever it takes to make a quality show.”
Per Deadline reporting, House of the Dragon cost nearly $200 million and was the subject of HBO’s biggest marketing campaign ever, valued at over $100M in media spend (that’s a combo of ad spot value and hard cash shelled out). So fans can expect a similar outlay for the Potter series “or higher,” according to HBO/Max boss Bloys.
Will there be other Harry Potter-related projects?
“We’re free to do anything we want,” Zaslav has said, before hedging a bit. “Some areas we need to do with J.K., other areas we have the full ability to go forward. This is a full deployment on Max of Harry Potter. We can still develop other properties.”
It’s unclear where those boundaries lie, but it is clear that Warner Bros. Discovery would like more Potter. Since he took control of the merged company, Zaslav has stressed multiple times his focus on franchises, with mining the Harry Potter IP identified as a top priority.
Deadline understands that there may also be an opportunity for more than one of the above-mentioned writers to be involved and that Max is open to the possibility of developing more than one idea based on Harry Potter.
Max and its then-parent company WarnerMedia started exploring a potential Harry Potter TV series a couple of years ago. At the time, Warner Bros. appointed Kids, Young Adult and Classics president Tom Ascheim to manage the Wizarding World and Potter franchises, which include theme parks, tours and the $9.1 billion-grossing theatrical library that spans the Harry Potter and spinoff Fantastic Beasts titles. Under that setup, Ascheim became WarnerMedia’s senior rep in its relationship with Rowling and her representatives, and exploratory conversations for a Max series got underway.
After the Discovery acquisition was completed a year ago, that unit was disbanded and Ascheim exited the company . However, the importance of the Harry Potter IP has only grown post-merger.
Zaslav spoke about his family’s own personal connection to the series.
“My wife and I, we read (the Harry Potter books) to each of our three kids,” said Zaslav, going off script at the Max announcement. “It’s really moving, for ten consecutive years, people will see Harry Potter on HBO; I mean it’s really something.”

New Harry Potter land planned for Universal Orlando’s theme park
- Tribune News Service
In its first major bundle of details on the new Epic Universe theme park coming to Orlando in 2025, Universal announced it will feature a dueling coaster named Starfall Racers in its Celestial Park area, a new Wizarding World of Harry Potter land, roaming monsters and “How to Train Your Dragon” attractions, Universal Orlando confirmed Tuesday.
It revealed more details on its central land, called Celestial Park, that will be a portal to four other lands including Super Nintendo World, where guests will enter through the iconic green pipe to encounter Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Donkey Kong.
The company, which announced the new park in 2019, has been sparing in details about the attractions at the under-construction park that is scheduled to open in 2025.
Tuesday’s news release concentrated on Celestial Park, the first area that visitors will encounter at Epic Universe. Universal said it will consist of gardens and waterways, Constellation Carousel, the Astronomica wet-play area, dining options, shopping and a hotel with a theme park entrance.
Celestial Park then will serve as a portal to four other lands:
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic will blend 1920s Paris, as seen in the “Fantastic Beasts” movies, with the British Ministry of Magic in the Potterverse.
- Super Nintendo World, where guests will enter the iconic green pipe and step into the worlds of Nintendo characters. Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan currently operate highly popular Super Nintendo Worlds. “It is the most interactive, colorful world we’ve ever created,” said Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Parks & Destinations.
- How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, “where guests can soar with dragons in a colorful world filled with Viking adventures” the announcement said, based on the “How to Train Your Dragon” film franchise.
- Dark Universe, where guests encounter everything from the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein to the shadowy landscape where monsters roam. It will be where “Universal’s classic monsters are reimagined in an ominous and chilling experience,” said Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative.
Epic Universe will be located a couple of miles southeast of the cluster of Universal Orlando’s current attractions: Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay water park and Universal CityWalk, an entertainment and shopping district.
“Universal Epic Universe marks a huge transformational moment for Universal Orlando Resort, and it will change everything about our destination,” Karen Irwin, president and chief operating officer of Universal Orlando Resort, said in a written statement.
Epic’s Celestial Park also will include Universal Helios Grand Hotel, which will sport 500 rooms and its own entrance into the theme park. The resort will be “integrated into the park like no other theme park in the world,” Woodbury said.
Universal previously had announced the names for two other Epic resorts: Stella Nova and Terra Luna, with 750 rooms apiece. The hotels are co-owned and operated by Loews Hotels.

Other fresh facts on the Epic front:
• Starfall Racers will be a dual-launch coaster that peaks at 62 mph and at 133 feet up. That’s almost as fast as Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Islands of Adventure (which goes 65 mph) and almost as high as Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (at 167 feet) at Universal Studios.
• The coaster will have a maneuver known as the Celestial Spin in which “the coaster vehicles perform an inverted cross-cross while speeding through the air,” according to the Universal news release.
• Celestial Park eateries will include Atlantic, a full-service option set inside a Victorian aquarium; Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant with neon dragons; Oak & Star Tavern with barbecue; and Pizza Moon. Stores will include Nintendo Super Star Store and Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets.
• Fountains within Celestial Park will reach up to 135 feet and be accompanied by music and interactive lighting.
• The video and concept art showed themed semicircular entrances from Celestial Park into the other lands. “Epic Universe is built on an amazing concept – the idea that you can go into a world through some sort of portal and you come out in a world you never could dream of. You can experience it,” filmmaker Steven Spielberg said in one video. He is listed as a creative consultant.

The competition among steamers to hold onto enduringly popular titles continues. For now, Peacock is winning the struggle to retain the “ Harry Potter ” franchise to the dismay of Max, who lost all eight films back in 2022.
In order to access the films, you’ll have to sign up for either one of Peacock’s streaming subscriptions, Peacock Plus or Peacock Premium, which start at $5.99 a month. A subscription will also grant you access to other buzzy titles such as “Yellowstone” and “Girls5Eva.”
Max still has some magic, though. The streamer continues to host the three “Fantastic Beasts” movies — “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.” Also available to stream is the “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” special, which sees an emotional reunion of stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson with director Chris Columbus.
In order to stream the prequel series and reunion special, you’ll have to subscribe to Max, with plans starting at $9.99/month. On the streamer you’ll find a slew of Emmy-nominated series such as “Euphoria, “Succession,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Hacks” and “White Lotus.”
