About A-ROSA

A-ROSA has been offering river cruises on a first-class level with a "modern" finish for 15 years. The cruise line welcomes you in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with spacious and bright cabins and with varied and fresh cuisine. The casual atmosphere is emphasised by the fact that no particular dress-codes or seating times are expected . Various activities and wellness on board as well as interesting country programs complete the range at A-ROSA.

The A-ROSA Alva was built in 2018 in the Neptun shipyard in Rostock (Germany) and has 63 outside staterooms. In 2019 she started her first trip on the Douro. 126 guests can be accommodated on 4 passenger decks. The crew of the A-ROSA Alva is very friendly and will do everything to make you feel welcome on board.

A-ROSA Alva staterooms

Almost all staterooms on the A-ROSA Alva are outside staterooms. The staterooms on deck 1 (category S and A) have small windows and are approx. 12 sqm in size. On decks 2 and 3, the staterooms (category C and D, approx. 13 sqm) have a lowerable panoramic window that can be used to create a French balcony. Also on deck 3 are the suites (category F, about 29 sqm), which include an extra-large balcony. In the staterooms on deck 1 and 2 there are two beds that are put together to form a double bed. All staterooms are equipped with a full bathroom with hairdryer, a TV, sn air conditioning, telephone and safe. On the second and third deck, some of the staterooms also have a chair and a small table. On each deck there are two staterooms with connecting doors that can also be used as family staterooms. The balcony suite also has seating areas, daylight bathroom, a walk-in closet and other included services such as a butler service. 

Atmosphere on board of A-ROSA Alva

On the ships of A-ROSA you feel like you are in a very good hotel: the furnishing is modern and elegant. Bright colors, large panoramic windows and a spacious salon create a lot of space so that you can relax, enjoy and experience a lot on your vacation. The guests are often a little younger than on river cruises from other providers. During the holidays, families also like to travel with A-ROSA every now and then. The dress code is sporty and elegant and you can dress in a way you are comfortable with. Guests pay their bills in Euro. 

A-ROSA Alva restaurant

The "market restaurant" offers open table times and large buffets. This means that you can eat flexibly within the opening times, when you want and with whom you want. There are no reserved tables. The buffet offers varied dishes with lots of fresh, regional products. At some stations, meals are freshly prepared for you live in the form of show cooking. Mineral water is included with meals. Coffee and tea are free in the afternoons; Coffee specialties are to be paid for.

Entertainment, sports & relaxation

The cosy lounge on deck 3 offers a beautiful view; Here you can order from an extensive bar menu (not included in the tour price) and just let your mind wander while enjoying the view. A-ROSA offers a varied daily program. You can find all the important information on this in the A-ROSA Journal, which you will find it on your stateroom door the evening before. Lovers of peace and quiet don't miss out here either: through the large windows of the A-ROSA Alva, you can see the landscape go by while you are in the sauna. There is also some modern fitness equipment. A cosy relaxation area invites you to relax between the sauna sessions. There are also two very nice rooms for massage/wellness treatments with a view outside (treatments for a fee). There is also a whirlpool on the sun deck, which invites you to relax. For the more active, the ship has a mini golf course on the sundeck.

A-ROSA has drawn up an extensive land program. Basically, A-ROSA offers you four categories of excursions: adventure tours, discovery tours, bike tours and pleasure tours. You can book all excursions on board. There are mostly sightseeing trips, trips to castles, wineries and other sights in the area. Boat trips or walks are also on the program. The tours are operated by local agencies.

Schöne Kreuzfahrt auf dem Fluss Douro an Bord der A-Rosa Alva. Das Schiff war sehr schön, ich habe den Panoramasalon mit Blick auf die Landschaft sehr genossen. Durchschnittliche Küche mit portugiesischen Spezialitäten. Alle Mahlzeiten wurden als Buffet serviert. Komfortable Kabinen mit allem Komfort ausgestattet, Sauberkeit war auch gut. An Bord wird Englisch und Deutsch gesprochen, so dass die Verständigung mit dem Personal einfach ist. Die Abendunterhaltung begleitete uns mit dem Piano. Schöne und befriedigende Reiseroute. Alles in allem eine gute Erfahrung mit A-Rosa Flusskreuzfahrten.

Initially named "Arosa Douro", Arosa Alva cruise ship has 63 staterooms (all outside), including 2x Balcony Suites, 47x French Balconies, and 14x Porthole Cabins. Two Porthole Cabins (located aft) can be booked as Singles (without paying a single supplement, subject to availability).

All Arosa Alva cabins offer as standard amenities:

• outside view from either porthole (non-opening, a narrow horizontal window near water level) or French Balcony (panoramic window, which upper part glides down to become a parapet)
• 1 double bed or 2 single beds (convertible to Queen-sized), wardrobe with sliding doors
• sitting area (low table, chairs, mirrored dressing table/writing desk with chair)
• flat TV (satellite reception, ship info channel, real-time bow camera views)
• electronic safe box (in the closet)
• phone (onboard calls only - Reception Desk, passenger cabins)
• en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, towels, bath products, hairdryer), bathrobes (on request)
• individually controlled air-conditioning
• 220V power sockets

Premium staterooms (Suite and French Balcony) additionally offer triple and quad occupancy. Upon request can be provided two extra (full-size) beds - sofabed (pull-out couch) and/or foldaway. Additional beds can be delivered in the same cabin or accessible (via interconnecting door) in an adjacent cabin.
