The Straw Hat Pirates , also known as the Mugiwara Pirates , Straw Hat Crew , or simply the Straw Hats , are an extremely infamous and powerful pirate crew that originated from the East Blue . They are the main focus and protagonists of the manga and anime One Piece and are led by the main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy .

The "Straw Hats" are named after Luffy's signature hat that was given to him by "Red-Haired" Shanks and are first referred to as the Straw Hat Pirates by Smoker in the Arabasta Kingdom . [13] The crew sailed on the Going Merry , [14] their first official Straw Hat ship, up until the Water 7 Arc . During the Post-Enies Lobby Arc , Franky and Iceburg built them a new ship, which was named the Thousand Sunny by Iceburg, even though the members fought over different names. [15]

Following the events on the Sabaody Archipelago , all the members were separated from one another by Bartholomew Kuma , a then- Warlord of the Sea and undercover agent of the Revolutionary Army . For two years, they trained in relatively isolated locations, becoming stronger for the sake of helping each other. [16] They then reunited and have since continued to be a dynamic force in the New World , greatly disrupting the balance of the Three Great Powers . After the Raid on Onigashima , with the defeats of Kaidou and Big Mom , their captain officially became one of the new Four Emperors . [17]

Jolly Roger

The Jolly Roger emblem is a cartoon-like depiction of traditional skull and crossbones, with the skull wearing Luffy's trademark straw hat. Due to Luffy's morbid drawing skills, Usopp was the one who drew the flag. In addition to being on their flag, the Jolly Roger has also been shown on the sails of the Going Merry and the Thousand Sunny.

Luffy and His Crew

The members of the Straw Hat Pirates.

The crew currently consists of ten members, being smaller than a typical pirate crew; when he first set sail, Luffy set a goal of gaining ten crewmates. They have one former member, Nefertari Vivi , who sailed with the crew from Reverse Mountain to the Arabasta Kingdom .

Despite their small size, the Straw Hats are an extremely diverse group possessing a large variety of backgrounds. Their members' origins range from ordinary islanders and workers to bounty hunters, royalty, criminal gang members, and veteran pirates; Jinbe was once part of the renowned Seven Warlords of the Sea while Robin was an active enemy of the crew at one point with Baroque Works . The crew consists of eight humans, one fish-man, and one animal with Devil Fruit-powered human intellect; of the humans, Sanji possesses superhuman modifications given to him at birth, Franky is a cyborg , and Brook possesses a skeleton body after being resurrected by a Devil Fruit power. They range in age from 17 (Chopper) to 90 (Brook); the median age of the crew is 21.

During their adventures, the crew members have often split into smaller groups to achieve multiple targets or tasks. Mostly, the group are divided by the common tasks of island exploring (often led by Luffy), ship guarding (often led by Zoro who wishes to nap or by Usopp who is afraid to disembark), and supply gathering (led by Sanji or Nami for food and finance respectively). When encountering enemies, the crew would often fight individually against their rivals, but they sometimes fight in small groups like Usopp and Chopper in Arabasta or during the Davy Back fight.

They first started splitting into teams during the Skypiea Arc . After realizing that the lost city of Gold was on Upper Yard , they split the crew into the Escape Team ( 脱出組 , Dasshutsu Gumi ? ) consisting of Sanji, Nami and Usopp, as well as their patient Gan Fall , and the Search Team ( 探索組 , Tansaku Chīmu ? , Funimation: Exploration Team) which was made up of Luffy, Zoro, Chopper and Robin. [18] The Exploration Team was assigned to find the city and steal the treasure before making it back to the ship, however they ended up getting split up after running into the giant python Nola . The Escape Team were meant to sail the ship to their rendezvous point at the coast, though Sanji and Usopp ended up getting ambushed by Enel, who stopped by to talk to Gan Fall. The ship eventually made it to the coast thanks to Conis and Pagaya , but Nami (along with Aisa who was picked up by the two) was chased away from the ship by Nola.

The following events are Non-Canon and therefore not considered part of the Canon story.

In the filler G-8 Arc , after the Straw Hats realized that their gold was taken after accidentally landing in Navarone Island , the crew split up into teams. Nami, who had used the waver to escape the ship earlier, was sent with Sanji to get it back as part of the Waver Retrieval Team ( ウエイバー回収班 , Ueibā Kaishū Han ? ) . The rest of the crew (except for Chopper who was assigned to watch the ship) was sent to find the gold, as the Gold Retrieval Team ( 黄金奪還班 , Ōgon Dakkan Han ? ) though this ended in failure, as it wasn't located where they thought it would be. [19]

During the Dressrosa Arc , the crew temporarily split in half due to the Big Mom Pirates' unexpected attack on the Thousand Sunny, with one group staying to finish business on Dressrosa and the other heading on to Zou in order to protect Caesar Clown and Kozuki Momonosuke . [20] The group heading to Zou (Sanji, Nami, Chopper, and Brook) was referred to as the Curly Hat Crew ( ぐるわらの一味 , Guruwara no Ichimi ? , VIZ/Simulcast: Twirly Hat Pirates) , named after Sanji, the de facto leader of the group. [21] This same group forms the core of the Sanji Retrieval Team ( サンジ奪還チーム , Sanji Dakkan Chīmu ? ) during the Whole Cake Island Arc , but with some personnel changes: Luffy has resumed leadership, Sanji was at Whole Cake Island , and the minks Pedro and Carrot accompanied them in their quest to "retrieve Sanji". [22] During their mission, they were joined by Jinbe who would later officially join the Straw Hats. [23]

Grand Fleet

At the end of the Dressrosa Arc, the crew becomes the leader of an alliance called the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, which involves seven groups who sided with Luffy in the conflict between himself and Doflamingo, becoming subordinate to the Straw Hats, while maintaining their status as individual crews with their own free will.

Cavendish , Bartolomeo , Sai , Ideo , Leo , Hajrudin , and Orlumbus asked to become Luffy's subordinates by offering him a cup of sake. Luffy refused but said they would still be bonded by their fight against Doflamingo, and they would help each other out at any time. However, the captains decided to drink the sake anyway, pledging to come to Luffy's aid whenever he needed them, while Luffy was not obligated to do the same. The Straw Hat Grand Fleet, consisting of 5640 people, was then formed, and a party ensued as their fleet departed from Dressrosa.

The newspaper referred to Luffy as the "Senior Captain" ( 大船長 , Dai Senchō ? ) and his crewmen as the "Senior Officers " ( 大幹部 , Dai Kanbu ? ) of the Grand Fleet. [24]

Non-Canon Members

In the anime adaptation of the Long Ring Long Land Arc , the Straw Hats acquired 497 members of the Foxy Pirates , with the exception of 3 members who are Hamburg , Porche and Foxy . In the process, they confiscated the Sexy Foxy . However, they were all immediately kicked out by Luffy and left to pursue their old captain due to the Going Merry not being able to carry 497 more people. [25]

In the game, Legend of the Rainbow Island , Dias , a young boy, and Atoli , the Princess of Silver Arrow Island, join the crew. However, they leave the crew at the end of the game.

Territories

While other Emperors were shown to gain territory for the purpose of gaining something for the price of their protection, like Big Mom with sweets or Kaidou and Blackbeard for military might and intel, the Straw Hats have only claimed their islands in order to protect their friends and allies.

  • Fish-Man Island - the ruling royal family had shown interest in wanting to declare their island a territory of the Straw Hat Pirates [26] and after news of their fight against Big Mom was made public, they decided to declare the island as being under their protection. [27]
  • Wano Country - Luffy announced to Momonosuke that if anyone ever gave them any trouble, just show them his flag and let them know they’re picking a fight with the Straw Hats as well, implying that Luffy is declaring that Wano Country is under his protection. [28]
  • Non-canonically , Tongari Island [29]

Furthermore, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet second division representative, Bartolomeo took over an island which was under "Red-Haired" Shanks ' protection. [30] [31]

Crew Strength

Despite having a small number of members, the Straw Hats are an extremely powerful crew with great potential, as stated by Kuzan when he first met them, they would eventually become a considerable threat to the World Government itself; a prediction that ultimately came true. Ever since they were first formed in the East Blue , they kept growing to the point of being capable of challenging and surpassing Warlord run organizations like Baroque Works , [13] the Thriller Bark Pirates , and the Donquixote Pirates , [33] and later crews captained by the Four Emperors like the Beasts Pirates and Big Mom Pirates . As their captain Monkey D. Luffy is now an Emperor, they are recognized as one of the four strongest pirate crews in the world. [17] It should be noted that this accomplishment, level of strength and infamy has been achieved in just over 2 years from the start of their voyage.

The crew itself has done things which most would think impossible and were dubbed completely insane for even trying to but have succeeded nearly every time. They have entered and attacked the most hostile territories without fear in order to accomplish their objectives; this includes invading World Government stronghold Enies Lobby and defeating their superhuman assassin force CP9 , [34] infiltrating Big Mom 's territory of Totto Land and participating in an assassination attempt against her, and assaulting the Beasts Pirates' stronghold of Onigashima in the closed-off nation of Wano to defeat both Kaidou and his forces as well as Big Mom. In all of these expeditions, they did battle with military forces numbering in the tens of thousands as well as vast fleets including the Marines' Buster Call , an attack force designed to annihilate entire islands. Their campaigns against the Seven Warlords and Four Emperors have attracted the attention of the Five Elders who publicly rule the World Government and have caused them to be labeled as threats to the balance of the world; [35] [36] [37] following their victory over Kaidou and Big Mom, they plunged the world into a level of chaos of very little to no precedent. [38]

Good fortune has also played a role in the Straw Hats' successes up to this point, though said fortune is not always due to pure coincidence; on some occasions, the Straw Hats have been aided by the arrival of an unexpected connection, or they have unwittingly done things in the past that help them in the future. An example of the former was when the Warlord Bartholomew Kuma saved them from certain defeat on Sabaody by transporting them to different islands, [39] while an example of the latter was when the Straw Hats unwittingly caused an explosive-laden Tamatebako to be sent to Big Mom; [40] the chest would go on to explode while the Sanji retrieval team was surrounded by the Big Mom Pirates, thus enabling them to escape. [41] Another example of inexplicable fortune occurring was when the Going Merry arrived at Enies Lobby, seemingly on its own, to help the Straw Hats escape the Marine Buster Call in its final voyage. [42]

A testament to the crew's reputation across the world is that Demaro Black and the Fake Straw Hat Crew were able to successfully use the crew's name and image to accumulate a large number of powerful followers which included Super Rookies, and their actions instantly attracted the attention of the Marines. [43] Upon realizing that the crew was composed of impostors, Sentomaru derided the strength of Black and his men in comparison to the Straw Hats, showing a level of respect for the crew despite his enmity with them. [44]

Beli

The Straw Hats currently have at least five Poneglyph rubbings, three of which are Road Poneglyphs. This makes them the closest to reaching Laugh Tale since the Roger Pirates . Furthermore, Robin has discovered the location of two of the Ancient Weapons thanks to the poneglyphs she read in Arabasta and Shandora .

Fighting Capabilities

Despite their small crew size, the Straw Hat members are all accomplished fighters to various degrees, each member possessing notable accomplishments and victories over infamously powerful opponents. They have fought against multiple armies numbering in the thousands and have typically dominated the grunt troopers of these armies, as shown in their battles on Enies Lobby (vs. 10,000 Marines), [45] Fish-Man Island (vs. 100,000 New Fish-Man Pirates), [46] and Onigashima (vs. 30,000 Beasts Pirates). [47]

Monster Trio

The Monster Trio fighting a Pacifista.

Three of the top fighters of the crew Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, are called the Monster Trio ( 怪物3人組 , Kaibutsu San-ningumi ? ) due to their immense strength, [48] [49] with Zoro and Sanji in particular being referred as the Pirates King's Wings ( 海賊王の両翼 , Kaizoku-ō no ryōyoku ? ) to Luffy, showing their dynamic. [50] [51] [52] The Monster Trio typically act as the vanguard against powerful enemies and protect the other crew members in dangerous situations. [53] [54] [55] During major battles, they tend to fight the strongest enemies on the opponent's side.

Among the Monster Trio, Luffy has received individual distinction for his fighting capabilities and is generally recognized to be the crew's top fighting asset by himself, the Straw Hats, and those familiar with him. He has stated that his primary role in the crew, aside from being their leader, is to beat their opponents. [56] On Enies Lobby while fighting Rob Lucci , the most powerful member of CP9, Luffy directly acknowledged that if he could not defeat Lucci, the assassin would kill the other members of his crew without issue. [57] In instances where Luffy has been rendered unable to fight against the primary opponent, his comrades have stood up to face the threat with the mindset of buying time for Luffy to return, believing only he would be able to attain victory in the end. [58] Luffy has been primarily responsible for defeating the captains of the crews, leaders of organizations or any other powerful opponent the Straw Hats fight, including the three Warlords ( Crocodile , Gecko Moria , and Donquixote Doflamingo ) he has also beaten Hody Jones , the captain of the New Fish-Man Pirates , the tyrant Enel of Skypiea, the infamous assassin Rob Lucci of CP9, two of the Big Mom Pirates top officers, Sweet Commanders Charlotte Cracker and Charlotte Katakuri and the fierce Emperor of the Sea Kaidou . Zoro and Sanji, meanwhile, have generally fought the top subordinates of enemy captains and other opposing foes; Zoro has also defeated formidable opponents on the opposing side such as Daz Bonez , Kaku , and Pica ; Sanji has too defeated very powerful, high-ranking officers of enemies such as Bon Clay and Jabra . These two have most recently defeated King and Queen , who are two of the Beasts Pirates' top executives known as the All-Stars. [59] [60]

While not part of the Monster Trio, Jinbe has been recognized as another top combatant of the crew, established by his experience as a veteran pirate and former Warlord of the Sea . He was able to overpower Gecko Moria, another Warlord, during the Summit War of Marineford, [61] briefly overthrow Big Mom in two instances with his own strength, and defeat Who's-Who , a former CP9 agent and a member of the Tobiroppo . [62] Robin, Franky, and Brook have not been recognized as members of the strongest or weakest subgroups of the crew, with the three of them each demonstrating themselves to be powerful combatants capable of easily defeating groups of grunt fighters and challenging lower-ranking officers of enemy groups. Robin, Franky, have singlehandedly defeated members of the Tobiroppo ( Black Maria , and Sasaki respectively). [63] [64] Other notable feats performed by this group include Brook challenging Big Mom in single combat and, though falling, being recognized for putting up a determined fight, [65] and some of these members have even defeated multiple officers and underlings of powerful like Senor Pink against Franky and Yama against Robin.

Weakling Trio

The Weakling Trio avoiding combat.

The lower three fighters, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper are called the Weakling Trio ( 弱少トリオ , Jakushō Torio ? ) . [66] By contrast to the Monster Trio, the Weakling Trio are often the most hesitant to partake in combat and collectively voice their fear in the face of frightening places or foes, unless their hand is forced, or they consider their enemies' actions or words unforgivable enough to want to take action. [67] [68] Despite this, they have often factored into the Straw Hats' greatest battles with enemy groups, with Nami having defeated Baroque Works officer agent Miss Doublefinger , [69] CP9 agent Kalifa , [70] and Tobiroppo Ulti (besting the former two singlehandedly), [71] Usopp defeating the Thriller Bark Pirates Mysterious Four member Perona [72] and Donquixote Pirates Special Officer Sugar , [73] Chopper beating CP9 agent Kumadori , [74] and Usopp and Chopper together beating officer agents Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas ; [75] Chopper has even taken on the All-Star Queen and managed to physically challenge him for a brief period. [76]

All members of the Monster Trio possess Haki , with Luffy and Zoro possessing all three types and achieving advanced applications, Sanji and Jinbe both have Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku Haki, which the latter is quite proficient in, and despite his placement in the Weakling Trio, Usopp has awakened Kenbunshoku Haki which he has used to aid in his sniping.

The Straw Hats' growth in strength throughout their journey has often been marked by their constant innovation of their abilities and tools as they develop new techniques to better challenge the steadily stronger opponents they meet. Four members of the crew possess Devil Fruit abilities: Luffy, Chopper, Robin, and Brook. Luffy has awakened his fruit and has used its alteration of his body in a massive variety of creative ways to adopt new forms which increase his power and fighting capabilities. Chopper has used his scientific intellect to go beyond the standard three forms of a Zoan user, shifting his body into numerous different fighting forms. Robin and Brook have both demonstrated significant advanced development of their Paramecia abilities, with Brook discovering methods of using his fruit in battle when it was previously thought to have no fighting capabilities. Nami, Usopp, and Franky, who use special weapons and machinery in combat, have constantly upgraded their tools in order to unleash more powerful, effective, and creative techniques.

Specializations and Teamwork

Another notable feature of the Straw Hats is that each of their members possesses a specific and unique position in the crew which maximizes their talents, and each member has been recognized for having a significant level of competency in their role.

  • Luffy, the captain, has been highly regarded for his leadership by numerous people not in the crew, as evidenced by the massive number of allies and pledges of servitude he has unwillingly attracted; [79] he has recently been recognized as one of the Four Emperors .
  • Zoro, the combatant, has almost never lost a fight with the crew and has commanded great respect and fear for his fighting skills even before joining; his combat skills have evoked the image of a pirate captain to some onlookers. [80]
  • Nami, the navigator, possesses advanced knowledge in geographic science, which has aided in her navigation and cartography work; her cartography skills were coveted by the infamous pirate Arlong even going back to her childhood, [81] and had greatly aided the Straw Hat crew during their journey throughout the Grand Line .
  • Usopp, the sniper, has consistently demonstrated remarkable sharpshooting skill since the beginning, to the point of pulling off nearly physically impossible feats. [82]
  • Sanji, the cook, has a vast culinary knowledge and repertoire; he currently knows how to prepare the okama Attack Cuisine and was able to lead a team in making a wedding cake in just hours (when it took days previously) that its consumer, Big Mom, enjoyed in a way she has never done for a wedding cake before. [83] [84]
  • Chopper, the doctor, is well-versed in treating a litany of injuries and illnesses; one of his most notable accomplishments was developing a cure for the devastating man-made virus Ice Oni in less than an hour's time. [85]
  • Robin, the archaeologist, possesses the extremely rare knowledge of how to read the Poneglyphs , a skill vital to reaching Laugh Tale. [86]
  • Franky, the shipwright, constructed the Straw Hats' current ship the Thousand Sunny which has traversed extremely treacherous waters while sustaining little damage overall. He also possesses highly advanced technology developed by the world's greatest scientist Vegapunk , which he has been able to develop and use to suit his interests. [87]
  • Brook, the musician, has demonstrated the ability to weaponize his music during combat situations, [88] in addition to its entertainment value which led to him becoming a worldwide celebrity during the timeskip. [89]
  • Jinbe, the helmsman, was noted during the Straw Hats' escape from Totto Land to "know all there is to know" about the ocean's waves and currents, which he utilized to outpace the Big Mom Pirates' fleet and frustrate them. [90]

The Straw Hats are very familiar with what strengths each of their crewmates possess and have been consistently willing to defer situations to the person most well-suited for them without issue or intervene with issues involving a crewmate they know is not suited for them. [78] This intimate familiarity with each other's abilities has made the Straw Hats able to achieve great results when teaming up in combat, including performing effective tag-team attacks as well as instances of one member using their abilities to weaken an opponent and thus aid another member in attacking them. A notable example of successful teamwork occurred when Nami, Chopper, Brook, and Jinbe were able to put together an effective counterattack against Big Mom herself when she attacked the Sunny, keeping the Emperor at bay for a considerable period of time despite the vast difference in power between the two sides. [91]

Allies and Subordinates

The Straw Hats have formed numerous alliances, both official and unofficial, across the world in nearly every location they have visited, giving them a vast network spanning just about all of the world's organizations and social classes. [92] These allies range from other infamous pirates, to citizens, and even to royalty and other influential government members; they have even managed to win the favor of Marine soldiers, although such collaborations have typically been limited and temporary. Luffy is considered to be the primary factor in their accumulation of allies, being noted by onlookers to have a unique gift for turning just about anyone he meets into an ally. [79] These allies have assisted the Straw Hats in the majority of their large-scale battles, namely in Enies Lobby, Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island, and Wano Country.

Out of admiration for Luffy's actions and leadership during the Dressrosa conflict, seven groups which fought alongside the Straw Hats decided to serve under them, forming the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. This fleet consists of 5640 total members across the seven crews, with most of the crews being led by infamous rising New World pirates who defeated officers of the Donquixote Pirates in single combat. The crews are also diverse, containing giants , dwarves , longarms , and longlegs in their ranks. [93]

What has made the Straw Hats' current command over subordinates and territory special is that they have never actively sought to obtain them, as noted by the circumstances of Fish-Man Island becoming their territory. In fact, Luffy actively rejected the Straw Hat Grand Fleet's request to serve under him, as he believes that having subordinates would restrict his freedom. In spite of this rejection, the Grand Fleet's admiration of him was so great that they declared their allegiance to Luffy anyways, being willing to serve him whenever he should call on them. [93]

Though they have performed numerous unlikely feats, the Straw Hats are not invincible and have not always come out victorious in the battles they instigate. The crew splits up very frequently during their expeditions, which causes their already small numbers to be stretched even thinner and leaves them more vulnerable to concentrated enemy attacks. [94] [95] [96] [97] [98] Given the disparity in strength amongst their members, this may result in weaker members ending up in one-on-one mismatches with members of more balanced enemy groups. [99] [100] [101] Additionally, their small size has resulted in them being vulnerable against enemy reinforcements following victories against their initial foes, which tend to leave them weakened. [102] [103] The Straw Hats' worst defeat came on the Sabaody Archipelago , where they were left almost completely spent after defeating a single Pacifista, only to be confronted by more Pacifistas, Sentomaru , and Marine Admiral Kizaru . [104] It was this total defeat that ultimately led them decide to train for two years to become stronger, and they have generally done well at recognizing the need to progress their abilities for coming conflicts which has allowed them to remain active and grow in power despite the extremely dangerous situations they get into.

The majority of the Straw Hats, particularly Luffy, tend to be very trusting and sometimes gullible which has led to them being trapped on occasion. [105] One such instance came on Whisky Peak , where they were very nearly captured by Baroque Works after unquestioningly accepting their hospitality; only Zoro taking measures to catch this trap saved the rest of the crew. [106]

Professions and Capabilities

Though they are pirates in name, the Straw Hat Pirates do not engage in the stereotypical activities of pirates . They are all kindhearted for the most part and only fight in self-defense or vengeance for their friends. In fact, before the Enies Lobby Arc , when CP9 initiated the conflict by blackmailing Nico Robin and detaining her, the Straw Hats mostly fought only other pirates (except for Luffy and Zoro , who took down the dreaded Axe Hand Morgan and several of his unwilling subordinates , [107] Sanji , who beat up Fullbody and possibly some other unfortunate Marines before becoming an official Straw Hat, [108] and Jinbe , who had numerous skirmishes during his time as a member of the Sun Pirates ). It seems they were considered dangerous to the World Government and given bounties simply because they called themselves pirates.

Relationships Amongst the Crew

Straw Hat Pirates as a Family

The Straw Hats are very much like a close-knit family.

Each member of the crew values their friendships very highly. Despite their usual comic annoyance with each other from time to time, they very much love being together as well as being a member of the crew. So much so, that they tend to forget their worries and burdens, as shown with Nami, Robin, Franky, and Brook.

One of the major themes of the series is how committed they are to each other, to the point where they are willing to give up what is important to them, such as their lives, and even their dreams, for one of their crew members. If one single member is hurt by an outside force (physically or emotionally), the other members will become enraged and take drastic action to avenge their friends. Previously, they have gone as far as to take on an entire organization, make enemies with the World Government, and even attack the World Nobles.

Examples of their camaraderie include: During their fight with Bartholomew Kuma, Sanji, Zoro, and Brook threw themselves in front of their friends to keep Kuma from getting to them. After Luffy was overwhelmed with grief over Ace's death, not only was he able to overcome his pain by remembering that he still had his crew, but the others struggled to return to him for support when they realized how hurt Luffy would be. Upon receiving his message to wait two years, they all reminisced on how Luffy changed their lives for the better and resolved to use that time to hone their skills in order to be more useful to him and protect each other better from any danger.

If any of them encounter a person that the crew dislikes either because of a past event or simply because that member is against what that person is doing, then the rest of the crew will hold a deep grudge against that person and will express the desire to attack them and will not show them any mercy. When Vivi (despite not being a crew member) showed her hatred of Crocodile, the rest of the crew, especially Luffy, all had the intention of taking him down without even knowing him. When Brook told the Straw Hats of how Moria stole his shadow, Luffy immediately asked where he was so he could get Brook's shadow back despite just meeting the skeleton, while the others were all behind him.

A common trait shared among the crew is that they all enjoy beating up their enemies and refuse to show mercy no matter how much they apologize. This trait seems to be the strongest for Luffy. Even after beating up the person, they despise, they still hold a very deep grudge against them and refuse to show any empathy or kindness towards them, even if they claim to have changed or if they have tried to do anything to make up for what they have done. The most notable example of this is how every member of the Straw Hats show a very deep hate-filled grudge against Caesar for what he did back at Punk Hazard and even after Luffy defeated him, they all still abused him by punching, kicking, and yelling at him for as so much as talking back at them, showing how merciless the crew can be. A notable exception to this is Bentham , a major antagonist of the Arabasta Arc who battles against Sanji. After fleeing from Arabasta, he steals Going Merry, only to tell the Straw Hats he was keeping it safe from the Marines. He later acts as a decoy so the Straw Hats can escape from the Marines after being moved by their wish to see their friend Vivi again. Later in Impel Down, Luffy meets up with Bentham and their friendship reaches new heights, with Bentham screaming for three days straight to support Luffy's recovery, before again staying behind to open the gates so Luffy and the other prisoners can escape.

However, there have also been occasions when the Straw Hats argue amongst themselves for various reasons. Most prominently, such confrontations take place between Zoro and Sanji (mainly caused by their frequent dislike towards various aspects of one another), and are relatively comic in nature. However, there have also been occasions when other crew members have experienced major conflicts between each other, which have been known to end in tragedy and heartbreak. One notable example is Usopp's fury at Luffy opting to abandon the Going Merry in favor of another ship at Water 7. As a result, Usopp seemingly left the crew, heartbroken and angry at Luffy's apparent disregard for Merry. However, these conflicts, though indeterminate in length, rarely ever last - Usopp nonetheless accompanied the crew in his guise as Sogeking , before formally rejoining them as they set off on their new ship, the Thousand Sunny. In addition to this, the likes of Sanji and Zoro will often put aside their rivalry to accomplish a common goal, though this ranges from their having a mutual enemy to outright competing against each other.

As such, the Straw Hats are a group that works towards their personal morals and convictions, with each member of the crew being ready and willing to help out the other, often putting aside all misgivings. For example, when Nami and Chopper both expressed their wish to help out the kidnapped children on Punk Hazard, and the poison gas victims on Zou, though the others did warn them of potential troubles that may occur if they do so, they unhesitatingly helped them regardless. However, if one crew member acted out against the wishes of the rest, the others will do everything in their power to steer them back towards themselves, just like how they went out of their way to rescue Robin, after she attempted to sacrifice herself for the Straw Hats without their consent in the Water 7 Saga.

Each member of the Straw Hats has a dream they want to achieve. These dreams are their reasons for joining Luffy's crew, and essentially the driving force behind their lives. Most crew member's dream was inspired by tragedies (often deaths) in their childhoods that involved at least one person they idolized and cared for deeply.

Some, like Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Franky, and Jinbe are fulfilling their dreams by accumulating knowledge and/or achieving a certain task while sailing the Grand Line. Others, like Sanji, Robin, and Brook are searching for a person, place or thing that can only be found on the Grand Line.

Whatever the reason, each of the Straw Hat's dreams involves traveling the Grand Line, and each Straw Hat member refuses to die before achieving their dreams. However, their determination does not extend to sacrificing or abandoning their comrades for the fulfillment of their dreams.

So far, only Luffy's dream isn't entirely known, apart from a select few.

Members' Dreams

  • Luffy's dream is known to only a few people: his crew, sworn brothers Ace and Sabo , and role model Shanks , and indirectly Yamato and Momonosuke , and it is said to be the same original goal of Gol D. Roger . In order to achieve it he decides to become the Pirate King and gather his own pirate crew to back him up. To become the Pirate King, he must find Roger's famed treasure, One Piece , which is implied to be on Laugh Tale . As for a crew, he has brought together nine people so far who have caught his attention. Luffy is also looking to meet up with Shanks again and return his straw hat to him but will only do this after his crew has surpassed Shanks' crew in strength.
  • Zoro's dream, shared with Kuina , is to become the world's greatest swordsman . To fulfill this dream, he must surpass every swordsman in the world, including the world's current greatest swordsman, Dracule Mihawk . [123] Zoro nearly gave up his dream in an attempt to convince the Warlord of the Sea, Bartholomew Kuma to refrain from killing Luffy despite that the first time they met Zoro threatened to kill Luffy if he got in the way of his dream, proving his loyalty towards his captain as well as the rest of the crew, as he believes that he cannot be the world's strongest swordsman if he cannot protect his captain's dream (Luffy, likewise, believes that the Pirate King should have the best swordsman on his side).
  • Usopp's dream is to become a brave warrior of the sea like his father, Yasopp . Although he implies that he has accomplished this dream (before he leaves the crew), but eventually realizes on his confrontation with Luffy that he has yet to achieve it, Usopp has a second dream. After the Little Garden Arc he hopes to visit Elbaf and see the warrior giants he idolizes, and during the Post-War Arc Usopp develops yet another dream, to be the true Sniper King, after he got Luffy's message to get stronger in two years.
  • Sanji's dream, shared with Zeff , is to find the All Blue , a legendary ocean. It is assumed to be in the Grand Line , a place where all waters from all over the four seas gather, bringing fish from all over the globe. During the early-Arlong Arc, Sanji had stated that he wanted to visit Fish-Man Island someday to see a Mermaid, which has been fulfilled; sure enough, the chef broke down crying upon seeing all the mermaids and implied that meeting the mermaids was on an equivalent level to finding the All-Blue. He also wished to consume the Suke Suke no Mi but unfortunately for him, Absalom destroyed that dream as he had already eaten it. However, upon seeing Absalom's detestable actions, Sanji changed his mind about his desire to consume it. Ironically, because of his recently acquired Raid Suit and its power of invisibility, Sanji's childhood dream of turning invisible has been restored and fulfilled through the Germa technology he hated. Sanji nearly gave up on his dream of locating All Blue when he prioritized protecting Zeff from the death threats of his father and the Big Mom Pirates .
  • Chopper's dream is to become a great doctor that can cure any disease, much like his father figure Dr. Hiriluk 's ambition, as well as to travel across the world, exploring with his friends, and expanding his horizons.
  • Robin's dream is to find the Rio Poneglyph which tells the True History of the One Piece world including the Void Century , continuing the research of her mother Nico Olvia and her old mentor Clover . Robin had an opportunity to learn about the Void Century after talking to Silvers Rayleigh but decided to continue her journey. Recently, she learned about the Road Poneglyphs, which point to Laugh Tale and the Rio Poneglyph.
  • Franky's dream is to build and travel on a ship which would experience countless battles, can overcome extreme hardships and can reach the end of the Grand Line just like the Oro Jackson , the ship built by Franky's mentor Tom for Gol D. Roger , did. He has designed and built the ship which the Straw Hats are riding and it's his task to keep it in good condition. Previously, one of his dreams was to beat Spandam to pieces. Fortunately, this was fulfilled toward the end of the Enies Lobby Arc .
  • Brook's dream is to return to Laboon , whom his former crew, the Rumbar Pirates , had left behind at Reverse Mountain for his safety, with the promise to return after crossing the Grand Line. He wishes to fulfill that promise to Laboon, as well as that of his former crewmates, who died at their journey, to deliver their final song recorded in a tone dial before their death.
  • Jinbe's dream, which he inherited from his former captain, Fisher Tiger , is the coexistence of humans and the undersea dwellers. He initially resigned from Neptune 's Royal Guards to join Tiger in his quest for equality, and then allied himself with the World Government by becoming a Warlord of the Sea , and with two Emperors ( Edward Newgate and Charlotte Linlin ) in order to protect the citizens of Fish-Man Island from being attacked. However, as stated by the Sun Pirates, those actions were mostly for the benefit of others, as they encouraged him to follow his new desire to help Luffy become the next Pirate King.

Former Members' Dreams

  • Vivi's dream was to save her home country, the kingdom of Arabasta , from the coup planned by then Warlord of the Sea , Crocodile and his secret organization, Baroque Works . After her cover as a member of the group was revealed, she enlisted the Straw Hats' help, initially as a business arrangement, though it later became a matter of friendship. After the crew stopped Crocodile's plan and her dream achieved, she decided to stay behind to rebuild her home and repair the damage caused by Baroque Works, both physical and social.
  • The Going Merry's dream as the crew's ship was to sail with the Straw Hats forever which it revealed to the crew upon its demise. Due to its destruction, the Going Merry's dream appeared to go unfulfilled. However, Merry's dream lives on through the Straw Hats' new ship, the Thousand Sunny .

Straw Hat Friendship X Mark

The Straw Hats show Vivi their ' X' marks as a silent farewell and a sign of camaraderie to her.

The X Mark is something the first seven Straw Hats ( Luffy to Chopper ), as well as Karoo , had on their left forearms.

During the Arabasta Arc , they had to face a very tricky opponent, Mr. 2 , with his Devil Fruit Power , which can make him look like any one of them. Zoro came up with an idea to counteract this power.

They made a black X mark on their left arms, as a symbol of their belonging to the Straw Hats. To prevent this being copied by Mr. 2, it was covered by a bandage and only revealed as proof of identity. The intention being that the band appeared to be proof, but in fact, concealed the true sign. Luffy then stated that the X mark was a symbol of their friendship.

The X mark came into play three times in Arabasta:

  • When Karoo reached Alubarna to deliver a message to Vivi's father, Nefertari Cobra , Chaka noticed his bandage and, thinking Karoo was wounded, tried to examine it. Karoo promptly slapped his hand away.
  • When Vivi is heading toward Alubarna, the capital city of the Arabasta Kingdom , she met Usopp but she was not sure if he was him or not. As she asked him to show their recognizing symbol, he showed the bandage, but without uncovering the X mark. Vivi understood that he was Mr. 2 disguised as Usopp and ran away.
  • When the Straw Hats were leaving Arabasta, they could not say goodbye to Vivi in a proper way, to avoid the princess being recognized by the marines as their crewmate. So, they stand with their backs facing Vivi, raising their left hands and showing their X mark. Vivi and Karoo replied in the same way too, as a symbol of their unbreakable friendship.

The long-running "Wano" arc of One Piece is finally about to reach its conclusion. Luffy and Kaido have entered the final stage of their fated battle and once it is over, the people of Wano will be free. The Straw Hats will likely have their big end-of-the-arc party that Luffy has been waiting for since before the raid -- but where will they be heading afterward?

Ever since they allied with Trafalgar Law on Punk Hazard, the Straw Hats have had a clear path ahead of them. They wanted to take down Kaido, so they had to cut off his supply chains for the Smile Fruits. That meant kidnapping Ceasar Clown, which then led to them destroying the Smile Factory and defeating Doflamingo on Dressrosa. Then they went to regroup on Zou, but Sanji was captured so they had to save him on Whole Cake Island before they could finally head to Wano.

RELATED: One Piece: Where Is Kaido's Road Poneglyph?

One Piece 's "Wano" arc has been similar to Alabasta, where the Straw Hats stopped on multiple islands on their way to help Vivi save her home . Other than their invasion of Big Mom's territory , which was bound to happen eventually seeing as she had a Road Poneglyph, the Straw Hats have been progressing toward the singular goal of beating Kaido. When Alabasta ended, they had no idea what their next adventure would be until the ship fell out of the sky and started the "Sky Island" saga. Since then, however, more of the outside world of One Piece has come into focus, and massive events have occurred that might draw the Straw Hats in.

The first is the fallout of the Reverie. Leaders from the nations affiliated with the World Government met and decided to disband the Shichibukai, so the now former Warlords are being hunted down. While they were in session, Sabo and a few of the other Revolutionary Army leaders got into a skirmish with the two admirals who were in Marijoa.

RELATED: One Piece Chapter 1047 Recap & Spoilers: The Sky Over the Capital

On top of all this, Big New Morgans announced that there was a death at the Reverie, implied to be either Sabo, Vivi or her father Cobra. Though it's unlikely that Vivi or Sabo would die, especially off-screen, there is the possibility that one or both have been captured. Sabo is a wanted criminal and Vivi's picture was in the hands of the mysterious Imu, the leader of the Five Elders, so both are targets whom the World Government would want to execute like they did to Ace. If the Straw Hats found out either one of them had been captured, they would surely race to save them.

Luffy did not go to save Ace when he first saw his vivre card was fading -- and that likely still haunts him to this day. Since Wano is isolated, however, it would be hard to learn any of this information, but there is a small fleet of Navy warships sitting just outside it. The crew could interrogate them or steal a newspaper on their way out.

RELATED: One Piece: Every Moment That Foreshadowed Luffy's New Form

Another option for their next island is Elbaf. If the Straw Hats don't learn about the news from the outside world and are left to their own devices, they could be heading toward the land of giants. Like Wano, Elbaf was mentioned very early on in One Piece -- all the way back in Little Garden -- and Usopp has made it a personal goal to visit this island. It could be a short arc like Zou, where the crew learns some valuable info that helps them decide where to go next. Giants like Oimo and Kashii could make an appearance, or maybe the Prince Loki will finally be revealed. After the mega-arc that is "Wano", it would be nice to wind down with a small relaxing storyline before heading into the endgame.

The Straw Hats could also end up on God Valley. The mysterious island was first mentioned just before Act 3 of Wano began, when Sengoku told the tale of how Monkey D. Garp became the Hero of the Navy. The island is no longer on any map, but if the Straw Hats got close to it then Nami would surely realize there was one nearby.

The Straw Hats' navigator also has a wish to draw a map of the world, so finding an island that's not on any map would be a real treat for her. They would likely uncover some information about the Rocks Pirates and the World Nobles here, and shed some light on the God Valley Incident that occurred 38 years ago.

There are sure to be more clues for the future coming as One Piece 's "Wano" arc winds down, but for now the window of possibilities remains wide open. No matter where they go, the Straw Hats will soon be one step closer to Laugh Tale.

One Piece World Globe

One Piece World

One piece world globe.

This is a graphical representation of the One Piece world map on a interactive globe. You can rotate it or zoom it in the style of Google Earth.

The map only presents canon locations. The colors, positions or format of the islands and places are not 100% accurate, because they were only based on the information that we have available in the manga. This project is constantly being updated, so you can send to us any suggestions or corrections you have!

vodka kingdom?

Isn’t Germa Kingdom in the North Blue? Sanji comes from the North Blue, not the New World

north blue is part of the new world….

Germa is a mobile nation. Just like Thriler Bark, they can travel across the sea

I have a question. Why is Port Chibaralta and Sphinx Island that much forward. Logically and for story consistency, it is better for them to be before Wano on the map. Can you look into it?

I just started one piece isn’t Goat island inside the Grand Line after Albasta (Sand Island). After the Fireworks town Island

That is filler. It doesn’t exist in the manga.

zou has reached g 14

I just wanted to clarify a few things about the longitudinal and latitudinal position of Wano in Paradise.

Travelling east MUST be done parallel to a latitudinal line, meaning this isn’t a straight line, and instead a curved one. As mentioned in Chapter 1056, the three crews go north east, east and south east, with the north easterly direction being parallel to the calm belt. This contradicts the position you have placed Wano in this scenario, because the layout depicted in the Manga would only be possible in the first third of Paradise. The position of Wano on your map is in the middle of Paradise, and due to that the longitude and latitude lines are curved and changed, meaning EAST is the one that is parallel with the calm belt, as opposed to NORTH EAST.

I understand that sort of a change is going to cram a LOT of islands into the first third of the map, but I do want to make this as accurate as possible.

Cheers, Sam

hey! new fan here, a minor starting island was also missed – Treasure Island (with the little treasure chest guy and the remixed animals, that appeared in a single episode), right after Syrup Village

No it wasn’t, it’s called “Island of Rare Animals” and there it is in the East Blue

Hey, love the updates to the map!

Are you ever going to add the 6 moons to the map as well? In chapter 392, the people of Ohara have a globe of the world (RIP) and orbiting are six Vegapunks…. err, moons. Will that ever be included?

Keep it up!

I think this arent six moons I think the other „moons“ are other planets and because they are far away and look like the size of the moon the fought they are moons.

Hi! Lulusia Kingdom has been corrected in the manga to be in the Paradaise. Close to Momoiro Island

I’ll try to update the globe soon, thanks a lot!

Just a little reminder: Lulusia and G-2 still need to be moved 🙂

True! I’ve been short on time, and also a little lazy! I’ll try next week to make the necessary updates!

The location for Elbaf is clearly wrong, as we know for a fact that Winner island goes the furthest towards the end of the Grand Line. Also, keep in mind that Shanks (coming from the Reverie) gave a lift to Marco for Sphynx, then went wherever by the time Kidd arrived, so I’d say placing it on the other side of the New World is kind of a big stretch

I’ll take a look, thanks for the suggestion!

Hi, I believe your Orientation on Wano’s position is wrong, mainly that the “long” part of wano (the side without Onigashima) is parallel to the Calm belt.

From 1056, we are given a map of Wano showing that it is relatively close to the calm belt, as well as giving its Compass bearings.

However, where I disagree with your placement is if you take the map from Chapter 934 and overlay the map of Onigashima from Chapter 981 (the one with compass bearings), you would get a map that agrees with 1056 ONLY if wano’s long side is parallel to the calm belt.

Let me know if my analysis of the maps is wrong.

why is thriller bark so close to elbaf, it doesnt was in the florian triangle?

No, it moved (through unknown methods) to Pirate Island. As Gecko moria went there

Thanks for the detailed comment, I’ll take a look!

Why not show where each straw hat went for 2 years after Kuma?

Where is the G8 patrol base between Skypia and the long ring long land?

I did not include non-canon islands!

Hey could you please make a Legend to the map? Also I’d appreciate it if you could link the islands to their proper wiki entrys. Im planning to present your project in my University! Its amazing keep up the great work.

Good luck with the presentation!

I added a very simple Legend on the page, hope it helps!

As for the links to the Wiki, I won’t be able to do it at this point, as it’s something that takes more time! But you can guide yourself through this page, I think it has all the locations: https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Locations

And good luck for the presentation, I hope you’re enjoying your university adventure!

Zou and Germa kingdom can’t really be put on a map lol

And thriller bark

I think it would be cool to have colour coded lines showing where each straw hat was sent to by Kuma

actually green bit is on NORTH WEST of derssorsa, as we saw in episode 630 the map that Heart Pirates made for law https://i.pinimg.com/originals/82/e0/a6/82e0a6486b0ba933da4b2ca1286973b0.jpg

why on this map they have not been to thriller bark

because trhillerbark is not an island

whats crazy is that they actually did put Thriller Bark on the map but its in the new world in between hachinosu island & sphinx island. Idk why its there, unless they got spoilers from ODA, its very very wrong.

No it’s correct. After the battle with the Straw Hats, the Thriller Bark floated abandoned for a while, then was reclaimed by Gecko Moria who repaired it and then used it to travel to Hachinosu and raid it in search of Blackbeard during the Wano arc.

The map is wrong, look proofs https://myanimelist.net/featured/805/The_World_Map_of_One_Piece

That map is also fan made. Oda did not draw it, so there is no proof that it is more or less true than this one. It’s also very old and has way less on it than this map.

Lulusia Kingdom is stated to be on the New World on chapter 1060

Updated! Thanks!

Hi! You should add Egghead – The Island of the Future and Marine Base G-14 to the map after chapter 1061! Thank You!

This is by far the best One Piece Map you can find out there. I’m really interested to see, where Egghead Island is about to be. It seems like this is the only island missing tho. Thank you very much for your service <3

Thank you <3

I think there might be a mistake. I’ve never heard of the lelusia kingdom

I agree. Must be some revolutionnary propaganda.

Yes, I thought lulusia “never existed”

Love the map!! In Ch 1056 it confirmed the North Pole to be located in the north Blue with the compass shown on the map of the new world. Is it possible to rotate the axis of the globe to have north blue as north, etc.?

Done! Thank you!

Hey ! I love this map, you nailed it! However, this updated north pole kinda messes up the navigation on the 3d globe, since it appears the software takes the former as the point of reference when you drag your mouse over it… It makes for some really awkward angles when trying to read the names… Do you know of a way to fix it?

Hi Robert! Accordingly the manga chapter 1056 there are 3 islands on North, East and South of Wano. I have made some research and the islands seems to be Sphinx, Hachinosu and Elbaf but in your map Wano is very far from Elbaf. I think maybe Sphinx island should be in the current location of Yukyriu and Elbaf should be in the current location of Sphinx Island.

Thank you Edu! You’re right, that’s probably how the islands are positioned! I could have updated already, but I haven’t had much time. So maybe I’ll wait for the next chapters for a confirmation, or if I have a little time before, I’ll update first!

I love this map!! When I start to watch I was completely lost about the form of the One Piece’s globe, and this map was very enlightening. Since then, I always have ir opened to follow the trip while watching. I just have a question: Why some Island have the name on white and others in yellow? I couldn’t think a reason for that. Congratulations for the work and thank you for the help.

Thank you ♥ In yellow are the groups of islands, or archipelagos. Individual islands are white!

what happened to the list of bounties that were available on claystage, i cannot find them anymore

All of our lists are now compiled on our sister website ListFist.com! There you have all the lists related to One Piece and many new ones! Here: https://listfist.com/list-of-one-piece-bounties

I think you put thriller bark on the wrong side of the grand line….. Its on the paradise side not on the New World side. Other than that great map.

Thriller Bark has moved to the New World when Gecko Moria used it to travel and visit Blackbeard

Hey, amazing map!

Couple questions: 1) When did they say the location of Baltigo? if i remember right, its only ever said to be “in the grand line” 2) what context in the stories geared you on your decision of the order of the later islands past Wanokuni? 3) I know its just a jpeg image wrapped on a globe simulator, but if there was some way to be able to enable clicking on islands to route to the one piece wiki of the arc/story that the island was involved in, that would be a cool add on. 3) Sniper Island, bro?

Thank you Devin <3

1) Yes, it is "somewhere" on the Grand Line. My thought process for placing it near Dressrosa was the fact that Jesus Bruges managed to make the trip between these two islands hidden on the revolutionaries' ship, so I think it was a short trip...

2) Essentially for the sake of narrative. It makes sense to me that the journey goes straight ahead, so we have Elbaf, Lodestar and Laugh Tale. Whitebeard was the "Man Closest to One Piece" so there's also Sphinx Island near the end (which must also be close to Wano, because Marco arrived fast). Port Chibaralta is also part of the Whitebeard territory. Hachinosu must also be somewhere in the end, as Blackbeard must be the main villain!

3) Yes, I would love to do something like that! Maybe in the future, it's definitely something that will take some time to do, and I'll probably need someone to help me!

4) You know, it's in our hearts <3

Could you possibly put the arc’s name on the island? Like for Sandy Island, in red text, it’ll say “Alabasta Arc” Also, can there be a way to know which islands are filler? Like a different colored text.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll think about it, I just don’t want to risk getting the map too crowded. Regarding fillers, they are not included in this map for now. Maybe in the future it will also put the filler islands.

may be time to rip a hole out of onigashima and move said cut hole and red path onto the flower capital

I’ve been a bit busy, but I’ll make sure to keep the map updated once Wano Arc is over!

This is my favorite map. I believe goat island should be between sandy island and Jaya. Robin won the ship back during the chess game. It confused me cause all the maps put goat island near the beginning of the story, even though robin was there. Also G-8 comes right after Skypiea, but it is a filler arc.

love the map but “the Straw Hats path” has one small error at the twin cape as they landed on the north side not the south as that is were the lighthouse was sorry to point that out

Hi c young! Thanks for the comment! It’s a nice detail you point out, I’ll fix it in the next map update!

triller bark is close to the laugh tale?

Thriller Bark is a ship; it was first encountered in Florian Triangle.

Man this is amazing! I swear i spent like 2 hours looking at the globe and cross checking with the one piece wiki. It was so much fun seeing the Straw Hats path and also learning about other islands that i didnt know much about.

As a suggestion, I think it would make more sense if the Edd War Sea was before Lodestar Island, considering that after defeating Shikki, the Roger Pirates sailed two years before finding One Piece, for that reason it would make sense that upon defeating him and reaching Lodestar they must return to being unable to advance further (leading to their encounter with Oden).

Now that you mention it makes sense, it seems like I didn’t put much thought into that part. I will change according to your suggestion as soon as I make the next update!

Very good interactive map, although I think there are two mistakes if I am not wrong: -I can’t see Arabasta Kingdom which should be right after the Drum Kingdom (now named Sakura Kingdom). -Thriller Bark should be in the first part of the Grand Line, near the Florian Triangle. In this map is located after Wano in the New World which I think is completely wrong.

i think some of the newer chapters show that thriller bark (or a ship that’s a lot like it) is in the new world now

Thanks! This is great to see. I had forgotten a thing or two and was confused about where the New World would be, thinking the Grand Line was on both sides of the Red Line. I don’t know if you can do it, but I think the One Piece world should have the North Blue on top and the South Blue on the bottom, making the Red Line and Grand Line/New World look like two X s. This would locate the East and West Blues properly relative to Reverse Mountain. Oriented this way, the North and South Blues are no more North and South than the other two. Also, isn’t Fishman Island located under the Sabaody Archipelogo, or between it and the Red Line, maybe right next to the Red Line on the Sabaody side? You’ve got it located… right in the tunnel under the Red Line? and on the far side?

Thanks for your time and words David! I understand your suggestion, and I think it makes perfect sense. We only made the map this way for practical reasons. Converting the map from 2D to 3D creates some distortion, and if we used the “X” format it would create the distortion on top of the North Blue and South Blue.

Regarding Fishman Island, the idea that I got from the manga is that it is precisely under the Red Line as we have represented. Do you have any references that mention that it is located before?

why can’t someone from the west or south blue just cross the calm belt at the end of the grand line with a propelled boat and reach laugh island

Because of the Sea Kings!

And you cant sail in the calm belt

No one really knows the location of Laugh Tale. We just know that it is some where in the New World

what about the Island Sixis where ace was stranded with Deuce and found his devil fruit?

Suggestion: put the arch names in orange pointing where it start and end, with the chapter and episode number

I have a suggestion for non-canon islands, you could do those islands with dashed lines where they would be if it would be canon and it would be cool to have the Japanese names right next to the English names, but if you can’t do those things I understand it 100% because its a lot of work to make this and I just want to say that you are doing a great job with this I really love it to see how the world of one piece would be so keep it up man.

Loguetown? and Alabasta??

Loguetown is a town in polestar island and Alabasta is in the Sandy island

What happens after reaching laugh tale? What would happen then? If that is supposed to be the end of the grand line, how will they be able to come back to their respective seas when the whole grand line is surrounded by calm belt? It’s not like they would be traveling all the way back to fishman island and try to (which is impossible) go up the reverse mountain again which only travels one way. I mean, if they would be able to travel the calm belt this whole time, wouldn’t the whole grand line idea and adventure be obsolete? Wouldn’t those from the West and North Blue be able to easily reach laughtale if it was that way?

I think a strong enough crew to reach Laugh Tale could probably pass the calm belt with no issues. Also, remember there’s no map of the whole world, that’s why Nami wants to make it. No one knows where Laugh Tale is. Also remember that navigating through the Grand Line requires a Log Pose, and in the New World, 3 Log Poses, because of the weather conditions you can’t trust your eyes or senses.

Didn’t island of rare animals came after gecko island?

in the anime it did because they took usopp with them but in the manga they visit the island of rare animals before arriving to syrup village

Correction from previous post:

Skyipea should be to the southeast of Jaya according to the illustration in S3 ep 149

Skyipea should be to the southwest of Jaya according to the illustration in S3 ep 149

Polestar islands is where Loguetown is.

Where is Marijoa ?

mary geoise, it is on the far right

I know it whould make the map more complicated than it is but because of the gates of justice you can’t go in a straight line from marine ford to amazon lily so you probably need to go around impel down

Where is the island of Ivankov?

We updated the map with some of your suggestions! Thank you all for the support!

Where is the Island of Queen Ivankov?

Momoiro Island. It’s right by Sandy Island, where Alabasta is.

After the events on Enies Lobby, the Straw Hats should be returning to Water 7. They should be building Sunny after Merry have died. This should make this small detail correct and accurate. Then the Straw Hats resume their journey through Florian Triangle. BTW this map is epic and mind-blowing! I didn’t even know that the Red Line splits the world in half!

Love the work you are doing! It’s unfortunate that it can’t be 100% accurate but you did a great job approximating. I have a couple suggestions for additions and questions. 1) There are three kingdoms in the new world that are missing (Mogaro, Doerena, Majiatsuka). Check out the new world fandom wiki for more info. 2) There are many unnamed islands mentioned throughout the story. Were you considering adding those to the globe as well? The same new world wiki page has more info. 3) Is it possible to create multiple pathways for all of the straw hats and other major characters? Currently we only see Luffys. Also to avoid cluttering the map, perhaps creating a on/off switch for certain pathways would be ideal. 4) Is it possible somehow get the map to zoom in and show the names of individual islands? For example, instead of wano, zoom in far enough and it’ll display kuri, flower capital, udon, etc.

Hi Nick! Thank you for the words! 1) Yes, plan on adding some missing locations soon! 2) For now, I do not plan to add unnamed locations to the globe. 3) Unfortunately, through the app I use to generate the globe, it is not possible to add an on/off functionality… 4) I would like to do what you suggest, especially for Totto Land. And even adding city names and other locations… I can’t guarantee that it will be soon, but it is something I intend to do!

after marine ford shouldn’t they go around the triangle current and after that luffy stayes 2 weeks recovering in amazon lilly

Now I know the route of their adventure This is cool. Not 100% accurate but it is informative and I thank you.

Where is raftel?

why are some of the island names yellow?

Names in yellow represent archipelagos!

Thriller Bark should be near or inside the Florian Triangle.

Thriller Bark appears in the new world in chapter 925!

https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Majiatsuka_Kingdom

There is also this kingdom.

Thanks! We will do an update soon!

You need Vira / Villa on Paradise section of Grand Line, it’s missing.

https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Vira

You ought to consider adding a search feature for islands..!

Unfortunately it is not possible on this globe…

Where is Alabasta?

Is in Sandy Island!

How about adding the moon if you can?

Thank you so much for doing this, it is amazing. I know not everything is 100% accurate, (because we don’t have the information) but this does a great job representing it. Thank you!

Thank you for your kindness, it’s a pleasure!

I have a problem. They get stuck in the calm belt after they leave Logue Town

You’re absolutely right! For some reason I got the idea that they had entered the Calm Belt before arriving in Baratie… I will update the route in the next update!

This is amazing! I’ve always wanted to see a globe version of the One Piece world! thanks so much for making this!

this map is beyond inacurate

There are many islands of which we do not know the exact location, which were placed in the most “likely” location according to the information we have from the manga. So you are not wrong. If you have any suggestions for improvement share with us!

So do you know where is Kamabakka kingdom?

That’s on Momoiro Island. It’s right near Sandy Island, where Alabasta is.

according to the manga scan 966 the name of the last island (end of log pose) is Road star. Are you going to update it?

The name of the last island is “Road Star” it is revealed by Gol.D Roger on chapter 966

Warship Island on East Blue

We chose not to put islands mentioned only in fillers.

In the anime Syrup Village comes first before arriving in Island of rare animals ?

Now we know the name of that Last Island, it’s called Lodestar Island.

This is truly something special! Geography is everything and I admire your attention to detail and accuracy. (Completely understand why some things are placed for Narrative speculation) Can’t wait to see how this develops!

As explained above, North Blue, South Blue, East Blue and West Blue make up the four seas of the world. Within each Blue, sea travel works as it does in the real world. One can sail to any destination you want with a regular compass. However getting from one Blue to another is much more difficult. The reason is not only because the Red Line separates the two oceans, but also because the seas within one ocean are separated by a large sea route called the Grand Line as well as two Calm Belts .

is it a bug or i just can’t see the (3D) map ?

I have tested it on various browsers and operating systems. Can you tell me which one you’re having this problem with?

i get this error ” http://www.maptoglobe.com refused to connect “

Try to see directly in the app where the globe was created, it may help: https://www.maptoglobe.com/Hy2kOH8SX

I cant see the 3D map as well. I have W10 and google chrome

Hi there. Simply just planned to request a simple dilemma. egffedefaegf

Are you going to update Raftel’s name to its proper romanization from the movie stampede? (It’s canon)

I didn’t know that, I haven’t seen the movie yet! If the official romanization really changed, I will update the map!

its Laugh Tale

If there are full maps of each islands and it’s position in the world I think making the area in depicted size and their relative distance from each other in Minecraft would be an awesome project.

No doubt, I would play on a map like this!

is it possible to make a map for every island please

Thats nami’s job

This is amazing. Thank you.

cant wait for the new updates i really like this, you should add an information thing where you click on an island it tells you its info

Not the first time we’ve received this suggestion. It is very difficult to implement at this time, but maybe in the future!

i think there is scale problem, ’cause when the straw hats enter Grandline, luffys says it’s the biggest ocean of the world, in this map it’s like 2/3 or less of what it should be

Maybe, but considering the few representations that we have in the manga, our globe does not seem far away. Perhaps Luffy referred to the length rather than the volume.

is it possible add a line that shows luffy’s journey? that would be cool

It sounds like a neat idea! We will do it in a future update!

When will future update take place? I agree it would be pretty cool

Updated with Guanhao Island! I’ll try to implement the suggestion this week 🙂

could u maybe add maybe a small picture of the crew member and show where they spent their time during the time skip? or maybe one where their island of origin is

Good ideas! I will think about implementing this when I have some time available!

Former “Drum Kingdom” is now “Sakura Kingdom”. Please update

As far as I know, it was only the kingdom that changed its name, not the island.

where is located, give or take, the island of fish/men ?

awesome…great job

How do you know the location of raftel? is it just guess or what

Raftel position is speculative, like some other islands of which we do not know the exact position.

is there any possible that they can TRAVEL in the RED LINE ?

Well… Germa was able to cross the Red Line with its giants Den Den Mushi, so it’s technically possible!

How do you know that e.g. Hashinosu or Sphinx Island is after/ “eastwards” Wano Kuni?

Given what we know so far, these are islands that must be very close to Wano. The reason they are on the east side is a matter of narrative analysis. As history moves forward, it makes sense for these islands to be located next. But deep down this is speculation, obviously we will update the map when there is new information!

how can thriller bark be in the new world? or is it technically a ship?

It is technically a ship, and was anchored near Hachinosu the last time we saw it!

So after Wano Kingdom Arc, they will pass Sphinx Island, Elbaf and Last Island, and Luffy and his crew will reach the Raftel. So after that they will go to reverse mountain again? where brook will Reunite with Laboon, but before that, The Sea Where All oceans flow, All blue is between the redline that look like an X right? Is it possible that from east blue, Luffy, Ussop, Zorro and Nami has already passed or Sailed through All blue? or is it the current?

There is a theory that I particularly like, in which the One Piece is something that will destroy the Red Line (along with Mary Geoise). This will create a connection point between all the seas where Reverse Mountain was located, which will be the All Blue. This will allow Brook to reunite with Laboon, and the rest of the Straw Hats to return to their original seas.

wouldnt the destruction of the twin capes make an impact and the waters to flood and make tsunami’s on the others islands?

It depends on how the destruction is done. Maybe an implosion, which is safer than an explosion.

Whole cake Island and big mom’s territory in general is missing in this map

It’s more or less true… Since her territory has 35 islands, we chose to put only the name of the archipelago, Totto Land. That way the map stays more presentable, instead of getting a clutter of names in that region.

So is birdie kingdom (where chopper ended up after kuma made him disappear

Where is Loguetown?

Loguetown is a city on the Polestar Islands. We plan to update the map in the future with cities and other places, so stay tuned!!!

Thank you so much for these informations. and btw the world map is so great i like it your the best

My pleasure, it’s a project that I really enjoy working!

This whole page is great, thank you for putting so much effort into this. The list of bounties is so entertaining to look at and I love seeing who’s birthday it is!

Thank you so much for the kind support, I’m glad to know that my work has a purpose!

Where’s loguetown?

Loguetown is a city on the Polestar Islands, as I mentioned in a comment above I have not yet added the names of the cities, only the islands.

but where are the bounties now? they do not appear on this place or am i searching the wrong location

there are many things wrong with this map , like germa kingdom and thriller bark..

Hi Dragon! Why are you saying that? Germa Kingdom anchored next to Totto Land during the Whole Cake Island Arc, and we have no information about its later situation. As for Thriller Bark, it was last seen in New World near the “Pirate Island” Hachinosu in chapter 925.

This is impressive

Where’s the Hand Island?

I chose not to put non-canon islands in the map.

Where is sniper island?

It’s in your heart!

hopefully it becomes an actual place like most of usopp’s other lies 🙂 otherwise yea its in your heart as u said

One Piece Map Explained

One Piece Map Explained

The unique part of the One Piece map is that the majority of it is based on the seas. There is only one mainland in this world, and the rest of the lands are the islands spread sparsely throughout the seas. The reason the geography of One Piece is such is because our heroes are pirates, and thus their journey must be through the waters.

Luffy and his crew have been to numerous islands, having grand adventures everywhere they go.

In the world of One Piece, there is a continuous stretch of land that spreads vertically from north to south. This stretch of land is called the Red Line, and it’s the only mainland in the whole world. Cutting the Red Line perpendicularly by spreading from west to east is a stretch of oceanic route known as the Grand Line.

The intersection of the Red Line and the Grand Line divides the waterbody into four separate seas, known as East Blue, West Blue, North Blue and South Blue .

Every sea is divided from each other by either the Red Line or the Grand Line. However, despite appearing connected by their close proximity, every sea is actually disconnected to the Grand Line.

There are two stretches of the sea that run parallelly to the Grand Line on both sides. These two stretches of water, known as the Calm Belts , don’t have the strong wind needed to sail, making the ships which have stumbled there stuck in that region.

Not only do the Calm Belts not have any strong wind, but these are also filled with huge Sea Kings who destroy any ship stuck there. Under one of the Calm Belts is the strongest prison of the World Government, the underwater prison Impel Down.

Now if we study the visual map of One Piece, we’d notice that the Grand Line is disconnected in the middle because of the Red Line.

The part of the Grand Line that stretches from the Reverse Mountain in the east to the Red Line is known as Paradise whereas the other part is called the New World . Paradise and New World are connected to each other by the Fishman Island that lies deep within the sea, just under the Red Line.

Now that we’ve a clear idea about the One Piece map, we’ll dive deep into each part respectively, starting with the Red Line:

Red Line

The Red Line is the huge continental stretch that runs from north to south, wraps around the world, and divides into two halves. It is the only mainland in the whole world of One Piece, and contains some of the most important locations. The name of this land comes from the red stones and soil it is made of.

Despite being the biggest land in the world, the inhabitants of the Red Line are sparse. But it contains the most revered place in the world of One Piece, where the gods are said to live. This is why the Red Line is also called the Land of Gods .

Some of the important locations on the Red Line are:

  • Marygeoise: This is where the Celestial Dragons live, and the Pangea Castle and the Empty Throne is at.
  • Reverse Mountain: The mountain situated at the location where the Red Line and the Grand Line intersect. The current that runs through the mountain is in the opposite direction, meaning it runs from down to up. This is one of the only ways to get into the Grand Line.
  • Red Port: It is the only legal way to cross the Red Line.
  • Fishman Island: This underwater island is deep within the sea, located under the Red Line. Fishman Island is where the fish-men and the mermaids live. It is the only way to get to the New World from Paradise. Currently, it is under the protection of Luffy.

I. East Blue

East Blue

East Blue is entirely made of water, with many islands of different sizes spread throughout. This is also where the story of One Piece starts, and the Romance Dawn Saga is situated at. Some of the Straw Hats, including Luffy , Zoro , Nami and Usopp are from the East Blue.

Some of the important locations of East Blue are:

  • Foosha Village: Situated in the Goa Kingdom of Dawn Island , and the home of Luffy.
  • Shells Town: This is where Luffy and Koby finds Zoro, falls under Yotsuba Island Region .
  • Shimotsuki Village: The home of Zoro where some members of the Shimotsuki family settled after leaving Wano and rescuing some villagers from bandits.
  • Orange Town: Situated in the Organ Islands archipelago where the Straw Hats fight Buggy Pirates for the first time.
  • Syrup Village: A village is Gecko Islands and the home of Usopp.
  • Baratie: A popular restaurant ship where Sanji grew up in and used to work.
  • Cocoyasi Village: Located in the Conomi Islands archipelago, this is the home of Nami where the Arlong Pirates set their base at.
  • Loguetown: A famous trade town near the Grand Line, known for being the place where Gol D. Roger was born and executed at.

II. West Blue

West Blue

Like East Blue, West Blue is also a big sea created by the intersection of the Red Line and the Grand Line. The West Blue is at the south-western part of the world, and is located between the North Blue and the South Blue, separated from them by the Grand Line and the Red Line respectively.

The Straw Hat Pirates never venture into the West Blue in their journey, but it is the home of Robin and Brook. Some very important figures in the story also hail from West Blue, like one of the Yonko: Shanks , the former Shichibukai: Gecko Moria , one of the Supernovas and Big Mom’s son-in-law: Capone Bege , and a Revolutionary Army member: Morley .

Some of the important locations in West Blue are:

  • Ohara: This was an island of scholars and archaeologists, and the home of Robin . The entire island was destroyed by the World Government with the Buster Call as the scholars of Ohara were the only people who could read Poneglyphs , and get to the truth of the Void Century , leaving Robin as the sole survivor.
  • Thriller Bark: This used to be an island in West Blue, but Moria transformed the whole island into a ship, and sailed towards the Grand Line where the Straw Hats stumble upon it. Currently the ship is in the New World.

III. North Blue

North Blue

Another sea of the One Piece world is the North Blue , falling between the East Blue and the West Blue, and disconnected from them by the Red Line and the Grand Line respectively. Since the Straw Hats start in the East Blue before sailing into the Grand Line, the other three seas, including the North Blue, aren’t explored to the same extent.

However, North Blue is the real home of Sanji as well as Trafalgar Law , and has some key figures of the story originating from there. Some of these characters who come from the North Blue are the Vinsmoke family , Marine Fleet Admiral Sakazuki , Admiral Kizaru , members of the Worst Generation: X Drake and Basil Hawkins , and the popular explorer Mont Blanc Noland .

Some of the important locations in North Blue are:

Germa Kingdom: The Germa Kingdom is an ancient empire of great heritage, known for spreading throughout the entire North Blue and their superior technology. Currently, the kingdom is in the shape of a maritime island capable of sailing through the seas, and ruled by the Vinsmoke family. This is also the real home of Sanji.

Flevance: It was the home of Law before being destroyed by the neighboring countries in fear of the Amber Lead Syndrome epidemic.

IV. South Blue

South Blue

The last of the four seas of One Piece is the South Blue . It is located between the East Blue and the West Blue, and is detached from them by the Grand Line and the Red Line respectively. This sea is known for being the home of many strange and exotic fauna, including gigantic birds, fish, worms and sharks.

A lot of important figures in One Piece originate from the South Blue. Portgas D. Rogue gave birth to Ace in the Baterilla island of South Blue. Some others who come from the South Blue are: former Marine Fleet Admiral Sengoku , former Admiral Kuzan , Bartholomew Kuma and his daughter Jewelry Bonney , Eustass Kid and Killer , and Jaguar D. Saul who saved the life of Robin.

Some of the important locations in South Blue are:

  • Torino Kingdom: Chopper is sent to this island by Kuma, where he trains for two years before joining his crew.
  • Baterilla: The birthplace of Ace.

Grand Line: Paradise

Grand Line: Paradise

Aside from the Romance Dawn Saga, the story before the timeskip is based on the Grand Line . It is a stretch of sea that encircles the world horizontally, and intersects the Red Line in the middle. The part of the Grand Line on the east side of the Red Line is called Paradise , and this is where every pirate crew starts their journey into the Grand Line.

Everything about this sea route is different from the other seas, from the weather to the way compasses work. It is a dangerous place and very difficult to survive. The currents are erratic and unpredictable, and the weather varies in different islands in extremes. Even entering the Grand Line is a pretty tough task, and only possible through the Reverse Mountains.

Some of the important locations of the Grand Line are:

  • Whisky Peak: Whisky Peak is a city of bounty hunters located in the Cactus Island . The Straw Hat Pirates start their journey on the Grand Line through this city.
  • Little Garden: It is an island that has maintained a prehistoric flora and fauna because of the weather. The only human inhabitants on this island are the two giants, Dorry and Brogy .
  • Drum Island: This island has wintry weather, and is also known as the Winter Island. It is the home of Chopper and where he meets the Straw Hats.
  • Alabasta: Known as the Desert Island , Alabasta is the home of Vivi . The Straw Hats accompany her to this island to stop the civil war and defeat Crocodile.
  • Jaya: This island has pleasant spring weather, and is the place the Straw Hats visit before they journey to Skypiea.
  • Skypiea: An island in the White Sea which is located directly above Paradise in the sky.
  • Long Ring Long Land: The inhabitants of this island are huge in length, a certain part of their bodies elongated much longer than ordinary.
  • Water 7: The beautiful Water 7 is known for its entirely water-dependent transport system and its brilliant shipwrights. The Straw Hats meet Franky at this island.
  • Enies Lobby: Enies Lobby is a stronghold of the World Government , and one of the three major judicial facilities of them. There is a gate in Enies Lobby that connects to both Impel Down and Marineford .
  • Sabaody Archipelago: The final island of Paradise is Sabaody Archipelago. The Straw Hats meet Rayleigh there, and are also separated from each other by Kuma.

Grand Line: New World

One Piece Map Explained

The New World is the second part of the Grand Line that encircles the west side of the world. It is located between the North Blue and the West Blue. This part is more dangerous than Paradise because very few crews survive getting into this part without being destroyed by an enemy crew.

It is also where the big figures of piracy i.e., the four Yonko rule. Every Yonko has their own territories in the New World. However, no one has been able to completely explore the New World in 800 years, with the exception of Roger and his crew. The New World is where the fabled Laugh Tale is rumored to be.

Some of the important locations in the New World are:

  • Punk Hazard: This is an island where Akainu and Aokiji fight for the position of Fleet Admiral. Their intense battle changes the weather of the island forever, with one side frozen and snowing and the other filled with lava. It is also where Caesar Clown has his science lab.
  • Dressrosa: A beautiful island where humans and toys cohabit. It is under the control of the Shichibukai, Doflamingo.
  • Tontatta Kingdom: This is an underground kingdom located under the Green Bit Island north of Dressrosa. The inhabitants of this kingdom are tiny dwarves.
  • Zou: Zou is the kingdom of Minks , located on the back of the ancient elephant Zunesha .
  • Totto Land: It is the entire territory of the Yonko, Big Mom and her crew of her numerous children. There are a lot of islands within Totto Land, the most prominent being the Whole Cake Island where Big Mom herself resides.
  • Hachinosu : It is an island of criminals and anti-socials, and the island Blackbeard and his crew are currently occupying. Blackbeard wants to make it his official territory outside the jurisdiction of the World Government.
  • Wano: Wano is an island in the New World that has been secluded from the world for hundreds of years. This is currently the territory of the Yonko, Kaido , who betrayed and killed the rightful ruler, Kozuki Oden .
  • Egghead Island: This island holds the entire laboratory of the genius scientist, Dr. Vegapunk and his Satellites . It is a futuristic island full of new and brilliant technologies.
  • Elbaf: This is the legendary island of giants.
  • New Marineford: The current Marine Headquarters, led by Fleet Admiral Sakazuki.

The last island in the Grand Line is Laugh Tale . The only known people who went to this mysterious island were the Roger Pirates . After them, nobody found this island. On his execution platform, Roger announced to the world that this is where his treasure, the One Piece, is.

Though Laugh Tale is located in the New World, the actual location of this island is a complete mystery. The location of this island can only be found by the four Road Poneglyphs . Each Road Poneglyph reveals a location, and the point where the routes of the four locations intersect is where Laugh Tale is at.

There is something on the island that caused Roger and his crew to burst into laughter, leading to its name. The contents of this island are entirely unknown, and this is the final location for the Straw Hats and other pirates.

That was the One Piece map explained briefly. The world of One Piece is so grand and elaborate that it’d take ages to cover them all. But these are locations that we need to know to have a basic idea about the world where our favorite pirates dwell in.

Navigating the Straw Hats’ Journey: One Piece Watch Guide Pt. 4 - A Whole New World!

map of straw hats journey

All that, and we’re finally here! Welcome to the New World! Waters so dangerous that all the pirates who’ve survived and escaped the Grand Line call its first half Paradise in comparison (and we now know first hand that that ain’t no piece of cake either). So hang on, because we’re at the home stretch!

The Home Stretch!

map of straw hats journey

Dressrosa Saga

Punk Hazard Arc (Episodes 579-625): The very first island of the New World! A place where weather, climate, topography, and even biology don’t make any sense, but there’s so much more than what meets the eye on Punk Hazard!

Dressrosa Arc (Episodes 629-746): The third longest arc of One Piece, get ready for Dressrosa and one of the worst villains we’ve seen yet (looking at you, Doffy). From action, to tears, to that trademark Straw Hat chaos, this arc has all of it in spades (and spades and spades… it’s super long, no joke, so prepare yourself).

map of straw hats journey

Four Emperors Saga

Zou Arc (Episodes 751-779): The first arc in the Four Emperor’s Saga, get ready for a visit to one of the strangest islands yet! And yes, that includes Punk Hazard.

Whole Cake Island Arc (Episodes 783-877): The Tea Party from Hell, this arc puts us face to face with one of the most formidable antagonists that Luffy previously and very wittingly antagonised!

Levely Arc (878-889): The Straw Hats have been making ripples all the way from East Blue, and the tidal waves they’ve left in their wake on the Grand Line are nothing short of world-changing. So take a look at all this action through the eyes of all the major players in the world!

Wano Country Arc (Episodes 890-894): We’re finally in Wano Country, the most recent and currently airing arc! Agh, we can’t even describe any of it without risking spoilers so trust us and just go, go, go!

Wano Country Arc (Cont.d) (Episodes 897-ongoing): And after that filler break, you’re finally caught up! Over one thousand episodes and you’ve made it to the very… well, it’s not an end but now you can pleasantly enjoy One Piece as regularly scheduled programming. So sit back, relax, and try not to bite your nails off as you suffer like the rest of us week after week.

Shake It Off!

map of straw hats journey

Z’s Ambition Arc (Episodes 575-578): Dual-purpose filler content, it paces the journey between Fish-Man Island and Punk Hazard while setting up the narrative for the 12th film. It’s totally skippable, but we suggest giving it a try if you’ve got time.

Episode of Luffy: Hand Island Adventure: A TV Special that, for the first time in the anime, answers the story behind the scar under Luffy’s eye. Unless the scar has posed a burning question for you, don’t bother!

Glorious Island: A prequel to the 12th film, it’s a special which was released specifically on smartphones and was later included with the Blu-ray. You can skip this filler since it’s the crew just messing around on the ship.

History’s Strongest Collaboration vs Glutton of the Sea: Another Toriko crossover, but this time it’s a triple threat! Goku and the rest of Dragon Ball Z crew are joining in too! So if you’re part of the fandom for these three, you’re in for a treat, but if not, skip it!

Episode of Merry: Tale of One More Friend: Another TV Special, but this time focusing on a very near and dear Straw Hat, the Going Merry itself! You can skip it, unless you want to wander down memory lane (we suggest grabbing the tissues first though).

Caesar Retrieval Arc (Episodes 626-628): Filler arc that paces some of the journey between Punk Hazard and Dressrosa, Caesar really can’t catch a break (not that he deserves one)! We suggest sticking with this one.

3D2Y: Overcome Ace’s Death! Luffy’s Vow to his Friends: A TV Special that looks at the events during the two-year time-skip. You’ll find Marineford scenes remade more closely in keeping with Oda’s art, however, we suggest skipping it if you want don’t want the surprises of the main storyline spoiled.

Episode of Sabo: Three Brother’s Bond-The Miraculous Reunion and Inherited Will: A TV Special that recaps the first third of the Dressrosa Arc from an alternative point of view. Definitely skippable!

Adventure of Nebulandia: A TV Special that marks the return of Foxy (ugh). But it does show us how the Straw Hats would fare in a fight with their Devil Fruit abilities nullified. It’s not relevant to the main storyline at all, but it could be fun if you have the time!

map of straw hats journey

Silver Mine Arc (Episodes 747-750): Filler set in-between Dressrosa and Zou, this arc ties into the 13th film. We suggest maybe checking it out if you’re going to watch the movie, otherwise don’t bother.

One Piece Film Gold 0: Just like Glorious Island, this is another smartphone special that’s an irrelevant precursor to the 13th film. You can skip it whether you choose to stay with main storyline or watch the movie.

Heart of Gold: A TV Special that ties in with the 13th film, it’s skippable because it’s not vital to the main storyline at all!

Zou Arc (Episode 775): Filler for the sake of continuity, it’s only one episode so check it out if you have the time.

Marine Rookie Arc (Episodes 780-782): Filler to pace the time between Zou and Whole Cake Island, we suggest checking it out, and our lips are sealed beyond that so we don’t spoil any of what comes after!

Episode of East Blue: A TV special recap that looks at the East Blue Saga, you can definitely skip it (unless you’re stricken with nostalgia and want to relive the magic).

Episode of Sky Island: Ditto, but about Sky Island instead of East Blue. Don’t bother unless you want to revisit the White-White Sea.

Cidre Guild Arc (Episodes 895-896): A filler arc that ties into the 14th film, we get to see the Pirate Empress once again! We suggest skipping it because not only is it irrelevant to the narrative, but it also doesn’t fit in-between any of the arcs from the main storyline.

20th Anniversary!-Special Romance Dawn: A TV Special that looks at the second One Piece one-shot called Romance Dawn. It deviates from the manga quite a bit so you won’t miss anything if you sit this one out too!

An aspiring animated filmmaker, graphic designer, writer, I’m pretty much a jack-of-all-trades hoping to master some! I’m an artist with a knack for software, so epic fight scenes, campy aesthetics and artsy animation are right up my alley. Webcomics, late-night cartoons, obscure movies, rare books and of course, anime take up the bulk of my free time (and my not so free time too! ). So I spend my days cycling between my anime obsessions and existential dread over my never-ending watchlist.

Journey of the Straw Hat Pirates"

The Dawn of a Legendary Crew

The vast world of pirates and treasures has seen many formidable crews, but none quite as iconic as the Straw Hat Pirates. Led by the ever-enthusiastic and fearless Monkey D. Luffy , this crew has embarked on a journey that has left an indelible mark on the annals of piracy.

The Birth of a Dream

Luffy’s aspiration to become the Pirate King was ignited during his childhood, influenced by his idol, the great pirate „Red-Haired“ Shanks. This dream, combined with the powers he gained from the Gomu Gomu no Mi, set him on a path that would gather a crew of unparalleled talent and diversity.

Assembling the Crew

Every great ship requires an exceptional crew, and the Straw Hat Pirates are no exception. From the master swordsman Roronoa Zoro, who dreams of becoming the world’s greatest, to the brave navigator Nami , each member has a unique skill and dream that contributes to the crew’s collective strength. Their shared adventures, challenges, and unwavering bond have transformed them from mere shipmates to a family.

The Voyage Across the Grand Line

The Grand Line, a treacherous and mysterious stretch of ocean, is the ultimate challenge for any pirate. Yet, for the Straw Hat Pirates, it’s the path to their dreams. With the Log Pose guiding their way and the Thousand Sunny as their vessel, they’ve faced and overcome challenges that would deter most.

Encounters and Alliances

The journey of the Straw Hat Pirates is marked by encounters with formidable foes, from Warlords to Emperors. Yet, Luffy’s unwavering spirit and the crew’s determination have often turned adversaries into allies. Their adventures in islands like Dressrosa and Whole Cake have not only added to their reputation but have also expanded their network of allies, making them a force to be reckoned with.

The Legacy of the Straw Hat

The iconic straw hat, initially a gift from Shanks, has become a symbol of hope, rebellion, and freedom. As the Straw Hat Pirates sail from one adventure to another, they leave behind tales of bravery, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams. Their journey, filled with laughter, tears, battles, and moments of respite, serves as an inspiration to many, reminding the world of the boundless horizons of adventure and the power of dreams.

The Evolution of the Straw Hat Pirates

As the crew ventured deeper into the Grand Line and later the New World, their growth, both individually and collectively, became evident. Their encounters with powerful figures and experiences in diverse environments have honed their skills and deepened their bonds.

Mastery Over Devil Fruits

Several members of the Straw Hat crew possess the powers of Devil Fruits, granting them abilities that defy nature. Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Mi has evolved from simple stretched punches to advanced techniques like Gear Fourth. Similarly, Nico Robin’s Hana Hana no Mi has seen innovative uses, from creating wings for flight to forming giant limbs for defense.

The Art of Haki

Haki, a mysterious power that resides in every living being, has become a crucial asset for the crew. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji have particularly showcased proficiency in its various forms. Whether it’s Luffy’s Conqueror’s Haki, which can overpower the will of others, or Sanji’s Observation Haki, which predicts opponents‘ moves, the mastery of Haki has been pivotal in many battles.

The Straw Hat Fleet and Expanding Influence

The Straw Hat Pirates‘ influence isn’t limited to their core members. Their actions, especially in Dressrosa, led to the formation of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, a coalition of seven pirate crews who pledged their loyalty to Luffy.

Allies in Unexpected Places

Throughout their journey, the Straw Hats have forged alliances with various groups and individuals. From the Mink Tribe of Zou to the samurai of Wano, these alliances have been instrumental in their larger battles against Yonko and the World Government.

Challenges that Shape Destiny

The New World is home to the most formidable pirates and dangers. The Straw Hat Pirates‘ confrontations with the likes of Big Mom and Kaido have not only tested their mettle but have also shaped the course of pirate history. These battles, intense and monumental, are more than just physical confrontations; they represent the clash of ideals, dreams, and legacies.

The Undying Spirit of Adventure

The journey of the Straw Hat Pirates is more than just a quest for treasure. It’s a testament to the spirit of adventure, the allure of the unknown, and the unyielding belief in one’s dreams. As they sail towards the end of the Grand Line, their legacy continues to inspire, reminding the world that the journey is as precious as the destination.

The Straw Hat Pirates: Symbols of Hope and Rebellion

The world of One Piece is vast, filled with powerful organizations, ancient mysteries, and a history that’s often manipulated by those in power. Amidst this complex tapestry, the Straw Hat Pirates emerge as symbols of hope, challenging the status quo and inspiring countless others.

Challenging the World Government

The World Government, with its vast resources and control over the narrative, often portrays pirates as threats. However, the Straw Hat Pirates, through their actions, have consistently challenged this portrayal. From saving countries like Alabasta and Dressrosa from corrupt leaders to opposing the tyrannical practices of the Celestial Dragons, they’ve showcased the gray morality of the world.

Gorosei World Government

The Void Century and the Poneglyphs

One of the most significant mysteries in the world of One Piece is the Void Century, a 100-year gap in recorded history. The World Government has gone to great lengths to suppress any knowledge of this era. However, with Nico Robin , an archaeologist with the ability to read the ancient Poneglyphs, the Straw Hats are on a path to uncovering this lost history, potentially challenging the very foundations of the world.

The Promise of a New Dawn

Every island and every sea that the Straw Hat Pirates have ventured into carries tales of their valor, compassion, and the promise of a new dawn. Their journey is a beacon of hope for many, symbolizing that change is possible, and dreams, no matter how vast, are achievable.

The Land of Wano and the Promise of Freedom

The ongoing adventures in the Land of Wano exemplify the Straw Hat Pirates‘ influence. A country isolated from the world and under the oppressive rule of Kaido and the Shogun, Wano’s liberation symbolizes the larger theme of freedom that runs throughout the Straw Hat Pirates‘ journey.

The Legacy of Joy Boy and the Ancient Kingdom

Tales of an ancient kingdom and the mysterious figure known as Joy Boy are intricately linked with the One Piece’s lore. As the Straw Hats inch closer to the treasure, they also unravel the threads of a history that could reshape the world’s understanding of freedom, justice, and power.

Beyond the Horizon: The Future of the Straw Hat Pirates

As the Straw Hat Pirates continue their journey, the horizons expand. With every challenge they overcome, they inspire countless others to dream big and challenge the norms. Their legacy is not just in the battles they win or the treasures they find, but in the hearts they touch and the hope they ignite.

In a world filled with uncertainties, one thing remains clear: the Straw Hat Pirates‘ journey is far from over. With the wind in their sails and dreams in their hearts, they continue to navigate the vast seas, writing a tale that will be remembered for ages to come.

The Straw Hat Pirates: A Legacy Beyond Treasure

In the vast world of One Piece, where power dynamics shift and legends are born, the Straw Hat Pirates have carved a niche for themselves, not just as formidable pirates, but as harbingers of change, hope, and dreams.

The Power of Unity: Strength in Diversity

The Straw Hat Pirates, though diverse in backgrounds and dreams, showcase the unparalleled strength that unity brings. From the stoic swordsman Zoro to the playful musician Brook , each member, with their unique abilities and perspectives, contributes to the crew’s collective might.

The Echoes of Laughter: Moments of Respite

Amidst the intense battles and high-seas adventures, the Straw Hat Pirates never lose their essence— the ability to find joy in the smallest of moments. Their laughter, camaraderie, and moments of respite serve as a reminder that the journey is as significant, if not more, than the destination.

The Straw Hat’s Influence: A Ripple Effect

Every island they’ve set foot on, every individual they’ve crossed paths with, the Straw Hat Pirates leave an indelible impact. Their actions, often challenging oppressive regimes and aiding the downtrodden, create ripples that bring about significant change.

Allies Across Seas: Bonds Beyond Battles

The Straw Hat Pirates, with their genuine interactions and unwavering sense of justice, have forged bonds with various groups and individuals. From the Kuja Tribe of Amazon Lily to the Tontatta Dwarves of Dressrosa, these alliances often play pivotal roles in their larger quests and battles.

The Reverie and the World’s Perception

The Reverie, a global summit of world leaders, has seen discussions about the increasing influence and threat of the Straw Hat Pirates. Their actions, often perceived as rebellious and challenging to the established order, have made them central figures in global politics and power dynamics.

Cobra yells at Wapol in Reverie One Piece Straw Hats

Towards the End of the Grand Line: The Quest Continues

The ultimate goal, the One Piece , remains elusive, but the Straw Hat Pirates, with their unwavering determination and belief, continue their quest. The challenges ahead are formidable, with powerful adversaries and mysteries waiting to be unraveled.

Yet, one thing is certain: the Straw Hat Pirates, with their indomitable spirit and the legacy they continue to build, will sail forth, leaving behind tales of adventure, hope, and dreams that the world will cherish for generations to come.

Ghost of Tsushima ’s The Six Blade s of Kojiro Mythic Tale is the sixth you’ll encounter, and it will net you a powerful armor set for your journey. In this walkthrough, we’ll show you how to acquire the Kensei Armor .

Step 1. Finding the musician

map of straw hats journey

At the start of every Mythic Tale, you’ll need to find a musician in the world — rumors from townspeople, especially from the Golden Temple, can help mark the musician on the map. For The Six Blades of Kojiro Mythic Tale, go to Umugi Cove , south of Lady Sanjo’s Landing .

Talk to the musician there, and listen to his tale.

Step 2. Locate the Straw Hat Assassins in Toyotama

map of straw hats journey

Like The Unbreakable Gosaku quest before it, The Six Blades of Kojiro is a bit different. You’ll spend almost all of your time in this quest running around Toyotama, dueling Straw Hats, rather than following an objective marker.

For this first step, you need to find the five Straw Hat Assassins around Toyotama. After you speak to the musician, all of the Straw Hat duels will appear on your map. The game leaves it up to you to find them, but check out our maps below for their precise locations.

All of these Straw Hat duels are fairly typical — very similar to the duels you’ve already had in the game. But while you should be familiar with most of their moves, some of these duels are difficult. Be patient and follow our usual advice:

  • Make sure you’re wearing good dueling armor (anything with an increase to damage, decrease to damage taken, or increase to health). At this point in the game, you should have the Sakai Armor , which is what we used.
  • Parry the Straw Hats’ attacks, as it leaves them open to follow-up attacks.
  • Dodge their red attacks, as you can’t block them — if you dodge and then quickly attack, you can sometimes get a few cuts into their back.

If you’re struggling in any of the duels below, we recommend you just keep failing. Each time you die, you’ll restart the fight with a bit more Resolve than before. The more Resolve you have at the start of the fight, the more you can use abilities like Heavenly Strike or use it to heal yourself. Don’t be afraid to lose a few times so you can fill your Resolve.

You can play each of these five duels in whatever order you want.

Duel 1. Duel in the Drowning Marsh

map of straw hats journey

The Duel in the Drowning Marsh is just south of the Old Kanazawa Marsh.

Duel 2. Duel Among the Spider Lilies

map of straw hats journey

The Duel Among the Spider Lilies is north of the Field of the Equinox Flower.

Duel 3. Duel of the Crashing Waves

map of straw hats journey

The Duel of the Crashing Waves is north of Urashima’s Village.

Duel 4. Duel Under Autumn Leaves

map of straw hats journey

The Duel Under Autumn Leaves is east of Kubara Falls, on the east coast of Toyotama.

Duel 5. Duel Under Falling Water

map of straw hats journey

The Duel Under Falling Water is north of Musashi Coast.

After you finish with the fifth duel, return to the musician in Umugi Cove.

Step 3. Locate the duel entrance at Omi Monastery

map of straw hats journey

After talking to the musician again in Umugi Cove, it’s time to pursue the sixth and final Blade of Kojiro. You’ll get a direct objective this time, to travel to the Omi Monastery just south east of Mount Omi . Fast travel or ride all the way there.

Follow the wind until you find the opening in the mountain. Walk inside to face your final opponent.

Kojiro duel boss fight

map of straw hats journey

After a short conversation with Kojiro, you’ll start to duel. This is the hardest duel in the game, as Kojiro deals tons of damage and has a lot of health.

Follow the same guidelines we gave you above: armor, parry, dodge, and don’t be afraid to fail. That last one is super important. Unless you’ve truly mastered Ghost of Tsushima ’s duel system, Kojiro will kill you — probably a couple times.

The worst part about Kojiro is that he has a lot of different moves. His tells aren’t always obvious either, so you have to be ready for anything. We recommend you save your Resolve for heals in this fight, and don’t use it on any abilities — Kojiro has a lot of health, so this is more of a war of attrition than a race for damage.

Be patient, keep your distance, and watch out for his multiple unblockable attacks in a row. Remember, if you beat the other five Straw Hats to get here, you can beat Kojiro.

When you finally fell Kojiro, you’ll earn the Kensei Armor .

What does the Kensei Armor do?

map of straw hats journey

This armor is not dueling armor, as you might expect. Instead, its perks focus on Resolve and Ghost Weapon damage.

While wearing Kensei Armor, Jin gains Resolve 15% faster. Ghost Weapons also deal increased damage, and debuff targets, causing them to deal less damage and take more damage.

Editor's note: The below contains spoilers for the One Piece season finale.

Netflix’s One Piece is the exciting adaptation of Eiichirô Oda’s blockbuster manga series . The series brings the worldwide phenomenon to life, bringing the colorful cast of characters into live action with all their adventurous spirit. The search for the One Piece, the legendary treasure left behind by former Pirate King Gold Roger, has set the world into an age of piracy. The series follows Monkey D. Luffy ( Iñaki Godoy ), a young man eager to find the treasure and become the next King of the Pirates. Throughout the season, his adventures bring him friends and foes as he pursues his important dream.

Luffy Dreams of Becoming King of the Pirates

Monkey D. Luffy is the energetic, positive, and resilient captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. As a young boy, Luffy was inspired by Red-Haired Shanks ( Peter Gadiot ), a formidable yet friendly pirate who exemplified the free-spirited nature of good pirates. Luffy’s dreams of becoming a pirate are core to his identity, as he relentlessly pursues his dream of becoming King of the Pirates, the freest man in the world. In order to accomplish his goals, he sets out to recruit a crew and find the mysterious One Piece, the fabled treasure left behind by the former King of the Pirates, Gold Roger.

After inadvertently eating a mysterious Devil Fruit , the Gum-Gum fruit, Luffy’s body develops the properties of rubber, allowing him to stretch and contort his body in superhuman ways. He eagerly and naively begins his journey on a small boat—which soon sinks, forcing him into a barrel and into a series of misadventures. Luffy’s positivity is on immediate display as he befriends Koby (Morgan Davies), another young man who was trapped in service of the Alvida Pirates. Luffy helps defeat Alvida and escapes with Koby, motivating the fearful boy to make his own decisions and pursue his own dreams.

The Straw Hat Pirates Bring Misfits Together

This season of One Piece sees Luffy recruit the first four members of his crew: Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. Luffy first works together with Zoro and Nami in Shells Town to steal a valuable map and defeat the unjust Marines, though the two initially rebut Luffy’s requests that they join his crew. Roronoa Zoro ( Mackenyu ) was a feared pirate hunter in the East Blue who has trained in swordsmanship his entire life. After his friend and rival Kuina passes away in an accident, he takes it upon himself to accomplish the goal the two had promised to achieve: to become the Greatest Swordsman in the World. Meanwhile, Nami ( Emily Rudd ) is first introduced as a thief who steals a map to the Grand Line from a Marine base, accidentally working with Luffy along the way. The map is sought after by pirates and Marines alike, as it plays a key part in helping find the One Piece. It’s revealed that Nami is actually a part of the Arlong Pirates, the fiercest crew in the East Blue. However, she is a member under false pretense, only doing so in order to steal enough money to free her village from the fishman pirates’ tyranny.

Usopp ( Jacob Romero Gibson ) is a lively yet cowardly sniper who loves telling tall tales about his “grand adventures.” After he and the Straw Hats save his best friend Kaya from being killed by pirates, they are gifted with the Going Merry, their first official ship. He sets off to become a brave warrior of the sea, hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps and return with actual stories of thrilling adventures. The last to join the crew is Sanji ( Taz Skylar ), a cook on the Baratie, a floating restaurant run by a former pirate captain . As a child, he and Zeff ( Craig Fairbrass ) were stranded on a deserted rock after a storm. After Zeff gives Sanji all the food they had, going so far as to sacrifice his own leg to survive, the young man becomes fiercely loyal to the seasoned pirate. However, Zeff pushes Sanji to leave the Baratie and do what he failed to do himself: find the All Blue, a fabled ocean that holds all the ingredients in the world in one place.

The Crew Defeats Fierce Pirates and Marines

Throughout their journeys on the East Blue, the Straw Hats faced countless foes, both Marines and pirates alike. First, Luffy frees Koby from Captain Alvida, a violent pirate holding him captive. Then, he works with Zoro and Nami to defeat corrupt Marine captain Axe-Hand Morgan in Shells town. They then free a village from the clutches of Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward) , a circus-themed pirate with the Devil Fruit ability to split his body into multiple floating parts. Afterward, they foil Captain Kuro, a devious pirate who tricked and poisoned a wealthy young girl for years.

Throughout the season, there’s one Marine in particular who persistently pursues the crew. Vice-Admiral Garp ( Vincent Regan ) begins his search for the pirate in a straw hat. Garp takes Koby under his wing, seeing potential in the young cadet with fierce morals. Dracule Mihawk ( Steven Ward ) is asked by Garp to find Luffy, giving Zoro a chance to duel with the current strongest swordsman. Though Zoro is defeated, he swears to Luffy that he’ll never lose again.

After Nami betrays the Straw Hats to return to Arlong ( McKinley Belcher III ), Luffy and the rest of her friends follow up to free her. When they discover that Arlong has killed Nami’s mother and attacked her village, the Straw Hats band together to help their navigator. Luffy challenges Arlong in a brutal brawl, eventually defeating the otherworldly powerful fishman and freeing Nami from her oppressor.

It's later revealed that Garp’s interest in Straw Hat is more personal, as he’s actually Luffy’s grandfather. After Arlong’s defeat, he once more challenges Luffy, hoping to dissuade the boy from pursuing a life of piracy. When Luffy demonstrates incredible resilience and commitment to his dreams, Garp ceases testing his grandson and lets him leave.

Where Will the Straw Hats Sail Next?

The season ends with grand promises of more adventures to come , as Luffy earns his first bounty and wanted poster to become a full-fledged and notorious pirate. The 30 million berry bounty is the highest in the East Blue, showing just how far Luffy has come from his humble beginnings. As the flyer makes its way across the seas, we see familiar faces and mysterious new foes. Mihawk is shown meeting Shanks and his crew, revealing that the two were rivals and old friends. When Shanks sees that Luffy has taken his first step to becoming a great pirate, it’s a cause for celebration and partying. However, the wanted poster is not a welcome sight for everyone. A shadowy Marine Captain sees that there’s a new upstart in the East Blue and sets the poster ablaze with a cigar, foreshadowing a new rival in hot pursuit of the crew.

Vice-Admiral Garp takes Koby and Helmeppo ( Aidan Scott ) under his direct tutelage, choosing them as his proteges and placing his hopes for the future of the Marines on their shoulders. Unlike the other shady Marines seen so far, this trio of Marines is committed to protecting the innocent and keeping people safe from chaotic pirates. While Garp may have let Luffy continue to pursue his dream, he refuses to let other pirates cause danger in the open seas.

After defeating the Arlong Pirates, Nami and her village are finally freed from the fishman’s oppressive rule and the map to the Grand Line is their sole possession . Now a restored member of the Straw Hat Pirates, the crew sets sail once more, this time on to even bigger adventures. As a symbol of their loyal friendship and commitment to achieving their dreams, the crew kick their leg up on a barrel and declare that they will achieve their goals. Now that they finally have the map to the Grand Line, Straw Hats laugh in gleeful excitement as they set sail for the treacherous stretch of ocean full of powerful pirates and the alleged location of the mythical One Piece. Luffy has his crew, his ship, and even his first bounty. But even with all these adventures under their belt, there is so much more for the Straw Hats, and audience, to experience on this decade-spanning epic journey. Entering the Grand Line is only the beginning...

Carrot, not Yamato, will be the One Piece character to first mirror Oden's journey on the seas

One Piece fans have long discussed which female character, Carrot or Yamato, is going to join the Straw Hats' crew. While that is still up for debate, a recent fan theory points out that the former could be mirroring Oden's journey. This is further emphasized by what was Pedro's last will and the lessons he gave Carrot, which is something that could play a role later in the series.

As is the case with most One Piece theories, this is merely fan speculation but there is a growing feeling that Carrot's story, unlike Yamato, still has a long way to go. This is because Yamato's ending at Wano felt like a conclusion to her role in the story, especially considering how author Eiichiro Oda has given her a short arc through the recent manga covers, while Carrot's journey could feel very similar to the one Oden went through.

Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for the series. Any opinion expressed here belongs to the author and not Sportskeeda.

One Piece could be setting Carrot's journey to mirror Oden's instead of Yamato

The theory explains that Carrot wasn't able to carry Pedro's will as the former didn't know all the details, but everything has changed now with the events involving Dr. Vegapunk's message in the Egghead arc. It has been shown in the manga that Carrot has heard the doctor's words and this means that she now has a bit of knowledge of what Pedro meant, which could lead to her wanting to bring "dawn to the world" and join the Straw Hats, the future Pirate King's crew, much like Oden with Gol D. Roger.

There is another similarity between Oden and Carrot and that is the fact they both want to travel the world and go through a lot of adventures. This could connect them once again. There is also the chance of Shanks heading to Zou as he wants the Road Poneglyph, thus meeting Carrot, and the latter joining the Yonko as a way to meet with the Straw Hats in Elbaf.

With the recently added context of Vegapunk's message, Carrot has a stronger motivation to join the crew, and she could be the final member of Luffy's party. She already has a connection with him, and this could be another similarity to Oden, who joined the first ship he saw and later joined Roger's crew .

The possible final member of the Straw Hats

One Piece fans have discussed for years the potential member to join Luffy's crew and the reasons behind each option since there are a lot of different candidates. Two of the most prominent choices, beyond the likes of Yamato and Carrot, have been two prominent queens in the series, Nefertari D. Vivi and Boa Hancock , who both have their own subplots at the moment in the series.

Another prominent choice is the character of Bon Clay, who won most fans' hearts in the past and has been confirmed to still be alive in Impel Down . Furthermore, Jewelry Bonney was part of the crew during the Egghead arc, and it doesn't seem likely that she has anywhere else to go, which could lead to her joining the Straw Hats to avenge her father, Bartholomew Kuma.

Final thoughts

Carrot could be carrying Pedro's will and also mirroring Oden's journey, and not Yamato, if this One Piece theory proves to be true. However, as with most theories, this is only mere speculation and should be taken as such.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

map of straw hats journey

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

map of straw hats journey

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

map of straw hats journey

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

map of straw hats journey

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

map of straw hats journey

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

map of straw hats journey

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

map of straw hats journey

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
