Event Details

When  The Smashing Pumpkins  first emerged out of Chicago in 1988, the world had never heard a band quite like them. They spun together rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic into a kaleidoscope of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Upon their formation, their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new—and it still is today. As a result, they’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide and collected two GRAMMY® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their catalog is highlighted by the platinum  Gish   [1991], the quadruple-platinum  Siamese Dream  [1993], diamond-certified  Mellon Collie   and the Infinite Sadness  [1995], platinum  Adore   [1998], and gold  Machina/The Machines of God   [2000]. In 2018, they embarked on one of their most successful tours ever, the  Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour , followed by  SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN.   Meanwhile,   2020 saw the release of the band’s eleventh full-length and latest double album,  CYR . As prolific as ever,  The Smashing Pumpkins  confirmed they will release more music in 2022 as they resume touring. More details to come.

The Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction coming to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two iconic alt-rock groups will hit the road this fall. The Smashing Pumpkins and special guest Jane’s Addiction will bring their expansive “Spirits on Fire” tour to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for a show on Oct. 29. Meg Myers will open.

Tickets to the concert will go on sale at 10 a.m. on May 13 on Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse’s website .

The Smashing Pumpkins, led by singer Billy Corgan, have released 11 studio albums since forming in 1988, including 1993′s acclaimed “Siamese Dream” and 1995′s “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.” The genre-defying Chicago band also hinted at new music set to arrive this year, in a press release. It’ll follow the band’s divisive 2020 album “Cyr.”

The last time The Smashing Pumpkins performed in Northeast Ohio was at a 2019 Blossom Music Center concert .

It’s been a little longer since Jane’s Addiction played in the area; the band performed at Jacobs Pavilion in 2016. The band has released four albums in its 37-year history, and singer Perry Farrell has hinted at new Jane’s Addiction songs on the way in a 2020 interview with Classic Rock Magazine .

Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction coming to Cleveland

You can’t have Halloween without pumpkins.

The Smashing Pumpkins will headline a concert at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland with special guest Jane’s Addiction and Meg Myers.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, at  https://www.rocketmortgagefieldhouse.com  and  https://www.ticketmaster.com/ .

Smashing Pumpkins formed in Chicago in 1988 and ruled the next decade with hit albums such as “Gish” (1991), “Siamese Dream” (1993), “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” (1995) and “Adore” (1998).

The 2022 lineup features founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin along with Jeff Schroeder. They released their most recent studio album, “Cyr,” in 2020. 

Jane's Addiction, another alternative smash from the 1990s, features vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney. The group formed in Los Angeles in 1985.

Produced by Live Nation, the 32-date “Spirits on Fire” tour will begin Oct. 2 in Dallas and conclude Nov. 19 in Los Angeles. For Northeast Ohio fans who don't mind a little drive, the tour will stop Oct. 22 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh and Nov. 2 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
