WEST PALM BEACH / LION COUNTRY SAFARI KOA - Updated 2023 Campground Reviews (Loxahatchee, Florida)
FLORIDA IS OPEN AND CONTINUES TO BE THE BEST PLACE TO CAMP.
Hurricane Ian was a devastating storm and caused major flooding and severe damage along the coastal areas of Ft. Myers Beach, Captive and Sanibel Island and Estero Bay and Bonita Springs. Some RV parks received extensive damage and will be closed for an extended period of time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to these park owners, their staff, and their guests who’s lives and businesses have been temporarily devastated by this storm. We wish them the best as they rebuild.
Fortunately most of the parks in the SW Florida have re-opened and have power. Florida is a very large state with over 800 RV parks, and SW Florida has more RV parks than any other area of the state. Rest assured Florida is open for visitors and welcoming all RVers and campers.
Please continue to travel and camp in Florida. Whether you are wanting to camp now, or are waiting for the Snow Bird Season to start, you will be happy you picked Florida. You can find your perfect RV site right here on www.campflorida.com. If you have any questions, or would like assistance, you can call the Camp Florida office at 850-562-7151. Thank you, we appreciate you choosing Florida as your vacation and RV park destination.
NOTE: If you are planning a trip to SW Florida is advisable to reach out to RV parks to check on their status and site availability, and be sure to make reservations in advance.

“Our base campground as full timers”

We spend several off season months each year at this campground. Not crowded in the summer. Wonderful pool. Close to Publix, tractor supply. Not bad to Lowe's and all other shopping. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Pricey but it is Palm Beach County. Mostly drive thru all with full hook up. Discount tickets to the drive thru animal park available at office. We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Motorhome.
Easy big dog access. All arrivals escorted.

“Hear the lions roar!!”

Stayed memorial weekend, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Older campground that was not built for today's campers but they do a lot to accommodate you. You could tell they tried their best to spread out the campers. No problem with utilities location. Internet was the best I've ever seen at any resort I've been to. Strong signal any time of the day. The back-in sites along the woods (east side)seemed to have the most room and were the closest to the zoo. You can hear the lions roar quite often from there. Insects were horrible after sunset. We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Fifth Wheel.
Grocery store a few miles from campground, The zoo was a good value (discounted tickets at camp store).

“Safari Closeness Appeal”
Very helpful and friendly staff but without the Lion Country Safari in the area I did not see and other attraction to the area. Poor road layout puts bathrooms/showers a long walk from your site if all the sites are occupied and you can't cut through. At nighttime there is not a lot of lighting so make sure you take a flashlight and know where you are going We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Motorhome.
Buy your Safari ticket from the office to get discount, drive thru early and make sure your connect to the audio for the tour. You can drive thru the Safari as many times as you want to make sure you don't miss anything

“It's a complete myth that Lions Sleep at Night”

This campground is very unique in that you are camped next to Lion Country Safari and can hear the lions at various times of day and night. You also get a discount on admission to Lion Country Safari (and come-and-go privileges). The campground was not busy when we were there so we had plenty of space, but the sites seem fairly close together. It appears to be an older campground but everything worked and was clean. They had plenty of washers and dryers. We appreciated that we were out west away from the worst of the South Florida traffic but there is not a lot out here besides Lion Country Safari. We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Motorhome.
We ran into serious traffic delays coming into the park from the east on Southern Blvd. Like most of South Florida, traffic is a problem. Stay west if you can.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your feedback!

What is the monthly rate for a class A 35ft?
1 Answers Answer Question

“Very different experience”

This was our first time staying at this KOA. The sites are very spacious, and our site was quite level. Each site has a good-sized concrete patio with a picnic table, but the rest is just dirt. On our last night, we had very heavy rain, and despite the amount of water that came down on us, the ground was solid, and there were no puddles or mud holes. The pool area is very nice and clean, with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The registration was very easy, and they have a little store. If you want to visit Lion Country Safari, purchase your tickets at the registration, and you save $10.00 per person. We camped at West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey in a Travel Trailer.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your positive feedback! We hope to see you again soon for another camping adventure.
