Fan reviews:

By Patrick Smith, Chester le Street, County Durham, UK : I was a school kid of 17 and seeing AC/DC for the first time. I set off to walk to Lancing station, got 20 yards, and remembered to return for my ticket, good start. The band has only sold standing tickets for the show for whatever reason. I got there really early as I was both keen to get to the front, and was pretty short! When the doors opened myself and friend Mark Wall ran to the front, standing and leaning against the boards. The support band, The Pirates, were forced to play on a stage about 2 feet deep with a drape behind them, and 1 row of lights. They would have been awful whatever the stage show.. I remember Angus appearing on the speaker stacks to kick off Live Wire, brilliant, as he leapt to the stage and the band kicked into gear. Bon prowled the stage in red nylon Puma trainers and spray on jeans, the mix was poor at the front so his vocals were hard to pick up. All in all a great first gig, little did I know it would be the last time I would see them with Bon... In the foyer afterwards the only shirts left were XL 42-44" chest, I was about a 36". Mark and I bought one each anyway, now in 2008 it fits perfectly, and I have already worn it with pride to the New York shows this year, in what has been an enduring love affair with the band.

By Nick Bradley, [email protected] : My first ever gig. I was 13 and had persuaded my parents that I could go because my older brother was going. He had nothing to do with me at the gig big brothers being big brothers. I'd never seen a PA system in my life let alone one that size. I was gobsmacked. How loud was this going to be? Awesome. I was in 7th heaven. I barely remember the Pirates except them being right at the front of the stage. It didn't matter. And bang. A leaping Angus Young (my hero at the time) and Bon Scott doing his thang. And the volume. God it was great. Beyond anything I could imagine. At one point Angus was wheeled around the audience on a trolley, no need for wires with the advent of radio jacks. I was a little lad but well looked after by the older rockers in the crowd. I feel honoured to have witnessed Bon Scott in his pomp. A sad demise to a rock legend in my book. My first gig and definitely the one I remember the best.

By Tim Clarke, Worthing UK : I had just turned 17 and was at the Brighton Centre gig with a load of mates from school. When we walked into the hall one my mates looked at the wall of speakers and just went 'Oh God'. I got myself right to the front and middle, pressed up against the barriers. The gig started with the low rumble of the bass on Live Wire. When the whole band burst in, the intensity of the volume made everyone take a step back. They were incredible. I just watched their Paris 1979 gig on You Tube, which was about 10 days before Brighton. It really made me smile and brought back memories of how fantastic AC/DC were.

By Piers Collins, Plaistow,West Sussex : First ever gig. Me and a bunch of school mates saw AC/DC with the legendary Bon fronting the band. Will never forget it. Fantastic gig. Angus heroics on Let There Be Rock astounding. Ears ringing for days afterwards and a stiff neck from the headbanging. Heavy Rock at its best. Seen them many times since. Once a Rocker always a Rocker.

By Paul Botting, Manchester, NH USA : Rode about 50 miles to Brighton after work on my 400/4 with friend on back in the freezing cold. Arrived just in time to see the support band, The Pirates, last song. AC/DC kicked off with Live Wire. Bon strutting the stage in skin tight jeans and Angus as energetic as ever. Rhythm section as tight as it always is. I remember Angus being carried around the General Admission Floor on Bon's shoulders and was showered with sweat as he head banged and played as they pushed past us. Awesome show made up for the freezing ride home to SE Kent afterwards.

By BILLY RUSHFORTH, [email protected] : First gig ever. Absolutely brilliant.
